Redeeming the Time

As a new day dawns we do well to reflect upon two important passages of Scripture. The first is found in II Corinthians 6:2 where Paul, by the Spirit says:
 
“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
 
We have no guarantee that the Lord Jesus will tarry another year, or even a month or a day. It is possible that within ten minutes after you have read this the dispensation of Grace will have been brought to a close, and the Lord will have come to catch away His own. Most of our readers, surely, will then be part of a blessed, happy throng. What about you? Will you be with us or will you be left behind? If you are not sure of your salvation, be wise and place your trust in Christ now.
 
“Yesterday’s past You have only today.
 
Tomorrow may be too late.”
 
But the fact of the imminence of Christ’s return places a great responsibility upon believers too. How wrong of us to fritter away the time, when He may come so soon! How wrong to live for self! Let us rather heed the words of Paul to us who are saved:
 
“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
 
“Redeeming [buying up] the time, because the days are evil.
 
“Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is” (Eph. 5:15-17).
 
As one year dies and another is born,
A searching question’s due:
Have we lived up to the light we had?
Have we to Christ been true?
 
Or have we failed to do our part
To send His blessed Word
To those who stumble in the dark;
To those who have not heard?
 
Well, let us now forget the past,
Both failure and success,
And yield ourselves anew to God
To own and use and bless.

I think the guy who posted this on YT made a title that is disinformation. To me it looks like the Trump family is getting ready for the speech, NOT the “riots”. However, I’m posting this to show that there doesn’t seem to be any rift between Trump and Mark Meadows. Quite the contrary. So that stuff about Meadows “betraying” Trump was fake news. Viciously fake news. I hope the people who mislabel and mislead find themselves in situations where they are falsely accused and mislabeled.

What’s in a name – OVERLORD
Most of us know the significance of that code word and the huge operation it served as a cover for but I bet most of you don’t know how the word was chosen.
 
How did the overall plan for the invasion of France got it code name.

From the beginning when the US entered the war US Chief of Staff George Marshall had pushed for an invasion of France crossing the English Channel. As far as Marshall was concerned the invasion should take place in 1942. The British demurred. They rightfully pointed out that the allies would not have the men and materials to push such an invasion in 1942 or possibly even in 1943 but pointed out the US must enter the war in somewhere. And so in 1942 and 1943 we saw the invasions of N. Africa, Sicily, and finally Italy.

Finally Churchill and the British Chiefs of Staff had to agree to prepare for a cross channel invasion because President Roosevelt insisted on it and because Stalin was threatening to make a separate peace unless his allies agreed to engage Hitler’s forces in the heart of Europe. But Churchill nor the British high command were enamored by the idea at the time. The fact was that the British were gauging the US’s abilities on their own. After years of scrimping and limited resources Churchill and most British officers simply could not conceive of the US being able to supply all the material resources they claimed they could and ultimately did for such an operation to be successful. Another factor was casualties. Churchill and virtually all of the British high command had lived through WW I and the terrible General Haig had been so willing to squander the lives of the commonwealth time and again. In face many of the high command had been Jr, officers in the infantry in that war and forced to lead their men “over the top” in such wasteful attacks. .

But Churchill realized, even if many in his high command and military bureaucracy as yet did not, that this time Roosevelt would not accept an alternative strategy as he had several times before. And all of the British realized that by 1944 US armed might would exceed their own and continue to expand far beyond what their commonwealth could deploy in west. the So early in 1943 while Eisenhower, Montgomery, Bradley, Patton, and all of the big name players were still busy down in the Mediterranean a HQ was set up in London to begin planning for the cross channel invasion of France.

The Americans always recognized the talent of the British for staff work and so this initial staff for making a plan of invasion was made up mostly of Brits and commanded by an Englishman. So under the able command of General Sir Fredrick Morgan the first draft of a plan for invasion into Normandy was created.
Morgan found it to be a very frustrating task because though he was invested fully in producing a quality product, many in the British military high command and bureaucracy were not as of yet, for the reasons stated above.

Once the first draft was completed Morgan needed to present it to Churchill before it could then be presented to the Combined Chiefs of Staff and others for approval and expected revisions. For this to happen the operations the plan needed an official code name.

Now, code words and names were not just made up by those that needed them. Such names and codes were created and given out by the “Inter Services Security Bureau” (ISSB). Such names had to be picked carefully for various reasons and of course duplication was forbidden within a give theater.

Morgan sent one of his deputies to get a code name and the deputy came back from the ISSB with “Mothball” as the code name of the operation.

Morgan used the “mothball” code name for his presentation to Churchill knowing very well that the Prime Minister would find the name unacceptable for the greatest endeavor in the history of invasions that was intended to liberate and entire continent.

When General Morgan returned to his HQ from his meeting with Churchill his staff asked what happened when the Prime Minister heard the code word. Morgan explained: “Just what I knew was going to happen. Winston went right through the roof”. Churchill said “If they can’t come up with a better code name for our landing than that, I’ll damned well pick the code name myself.” Morgan reported that Churchill “glowered for a moment, pointed his cigar up towards the ceiling then reared back and barked OVERLORD! We shall call it OVERLORD.”

Lets see here.. Congressional laptop(s) missing… Italy docs and reports building daily… DNI report drops right after they commit open treason… E.O. just sitting there not being used (yet)… Jackson files Impeachment docs, Pelosi calls for Pompaio to envoke 25th amendment. Such an exciting time.. Treason here, treason there, treason is everywhere.. Or is it just the season for treason? Am I right folks?

A few random thoughts since I find myself unable to sleep:
1. Remember when various restaurants refused to serve Trump officials like Sarah Huckabee Sanders?
2. Political vultures have been circling looking for a sign of weakness to swoop down and devour their prey. (Never let a crisis go to waste.)
3. I wonder if the president and his family feel isolated and scorned. I hope they take consolation in the fact that Jesus, too, was mocked and ridiculed.
4. What an evil press we have. My dear neighbor died, and her brother asked me to collect the newspaper until her subscription ran out. This would be The Washington Post. It’s shocking how consistently petty and one-sided the front page is. I cancelled my subscription to this same paper decades ago after they published my letter to the editor but it was so heavily edited that the main point was missing

More thoughts, but this will do for now. Good night (I hope!).

This incident is a picture of the blunder we make in thinking that the final thing God wants of us is the sacrifice of death. What God wants is the sacrifice THROUGH death which enables us to do what Jesus did, viz., sacrifice our lives. Not – I am willing to go to death with Thee, but – I am willing to be identified with Thy death so that I may sacrifice my life to God. We seem to think that God wants us to give up things! God purified Abraham from this blunder, and the same discipline goes on in our lives. God nowhere tells us to give up things for the sake of giving them up. He tells us to give them up for the sake of the only thing worth having – viz., life with Himself. It is a question of loosening the bands that hinder the life, and immediately those bands are loosened by identification with the death of Jesus, we enter into a relationship with God whereby we can sacrifice our lives to Him.
 
It is of no value to God to give Him your life for death. He wants you to be a “LIVING sacrifice,” to let Him have all your powers that have been saved and sanctified through Jesus. This is the thing that is acceptable to God.

Slightly before noon, North Charleston, SC: got caught up in traffic waiting for several – roughly ten to fifteen – Army vehicles (including ones carrying supplies and a green armored vehicle with what looked like guns and missiles on it) departing the Mark W. Clark National Guard armory. They got onto I26 Westbound.

Also a heavy police presence today.

I arrived back in Seattle last night. Our plane was full of maga supporters.
Our cabin crew were openly hostile to us from the get go.

We were met at the gate with cops there.

They were told that the crew had felt intimidated by our ” muttering” and they said we were refusing to wear masks.
We all wore masks except when drinking or eating.
Also when we sang “God Bless America!”

The cops told them that they would not arrest anyone as we had broken no laws.

Alaska airlines has now said that they may ban 14 of us from flying on their airlines.

Freaking paranoia!!

On the bright side I met some incredible people. I wouldn’t have missed this for the world.

I also want to give a shout out to 2 mega maga supporters. I thought those of us on the west coast traveled the furthest but “T” from Alaska and “LJ” from Hawaii has us beat. LJ has to quarantine here in Seattle for 2 weeks before she can get back home to Hawaii.

We even made the local 11 o’clock news.

So far this winter this Hoosier and those that live in my part of the country have had a relatively mild winter. That is about to end.
The weather pattern is changing and all indications are that old man winter is going to be descending on us from the great white north with a vengeance. As I write this strong stratospheric warming is developing and with the forecasted change in weather patterns that means Arctic cold is most likely coming to town for us in the great lake states.
This pattern is supposed to hold on for an extended period and so it looks like we up here around the lakes are in for an extended blast of Arctic air and snow with possible blizzard conditions at times for the second half of this month and possibly longer. You in the SE US who have already seen more winter than we have up here are also in for more as is the NE.

going to be a long 4 years, but the memes should be good.

I have only posted a few times, but have been on a branch for a number of years. This week has been the most painful of my life. My adult daughter passed away from cancer. She had been diagnosed just before Christmas. I had not seen her or her children for over 20 years (her choice, not mine). She called in December tell us and to say she was so sorry and would I forgive her (of course I had already forgiven many years ago). She also told me she was so glad we had chosen her (she is adopted). It broke my heart for the years lost and for what can never be. But I am comforted to know that she is finally at peace. She was my first child; she made me a mother and I loved her.
