One of the best ways to identify what’s going on in any area is a ground report from the people most familiar with it, that’s YOU. If you are voting today perhaps you would consider sharing a ground report from your town, city, neighborhood or voting precinct.
How’s the turnout? Any issues or concerns? What’s the overall climate amid your voting locales. Please feel free to share your personal perspectives in the comment section along with any links to any information you feel might be valuable or interesting.

Voted in Horry County SC at 11am. Polls opened at 7. Line was 30 minutes. looked longer due to spacing between voters. Wife and I were ~ #699 & 700 for the precinct.
Houston, TX. River Oaks Elementary School. No one there. In and out in five minutes. Two years ago huge lines. Strange.
Maybe folks voted early? absentee? I voted early here in Arizona, carried my vote to the Recorder’s Office, checked in on Secretary of State website and saw it was processed and counted!
Houston is Blue. Low turnout in Houston isn’t a bad news for us. I live in NW Houston, I walked by a polling station in my hood, the was very pretty short at 8am.
Voted in N. Myrtle, was there 30 mins prior to opening, waited an extra 45 to vote. Wife went afterwards and waited 30 mins.
Here in Nevada 1,125,580 have been submitted, 62% of the state’s voter base. I early voted last week and had to wait to vote. Most people I’ve talked to have stated huge lines of people waiting to vote.
My Daughter got to the polls an hour before opening in Las Vegas. She was 60th. She thinks NV can go Red! The state hates their governor.
Just a few minutes wait at local polling place in Framingham, MA, BLM/Biden sign country. Gave solo lady waving Trump flag thumbs up; she said we were 7 out of 9 cars by her, which is amazing, really. Maybe a surprise in store? Last Republican Presidential candidate to win MA was Ronald Reagan in 1984.
Got to polls in Columbia, SC 45 minutes before open. We were behind 50 others. Another 50+ arrived behind us (at least) before they opened the polls. Very atypical for this precinct (only about 2500 registered at this precinct, and there’s been heavy pre-election in-person voter turnout).
Known Dem neighbors were poll workers, handling the voting machines.
Voting went relatively smoothly, though a couple in front of us insisted they be allowed to vote, even though it wasn’t their precinct. Delayed everything by 10 minutes.
Had machines that scanned barcode on back of DL, poll worker verified info against front of DL (ID is required in SC).
SC is a red state, but Columbia trends blue. Likely a lot of Dem voters in line, but hard to say. SC has strict electioneering laws, so difficult to look at someone to determine political leaning.
I should mention it took us about 50 minutes to vote after the polls opened. Total time at polling place this morning: 1:35, including pre-open wait.
Every MAGA person please get out and vote for the best President ever! President Trump!!!
Let’s win that popular vote so we can stick it good to the left!!!
Report from a friend in Portsmouth, VA. No line, voted easily, social distancing.
Sanity
In my blue corner of Boston, MA, there was about 30 or so people in line this AM at 7:00. There was a large stack of Dem ballots and a small pile of GOP to be given out… Somehow, I don’t think the small pile of GOP means more GOP have been filled out… But I can pray that could be the case!
People were nice; no side eyes for voting GOP.
You don’t have the candidates on one ballot?
Right… that seems insane. CO here, all on one ballot.
After thinking about my comment, I realize, I am mistaken- each person gets the same ballot– lol… Each ballot has both parties on it. So silly…
Need more coffee… And an edit button to hide my silly thoughts!
Easy mistake to make. It’s always so true in the primaries. We’re never expected to take a GOP ballot. Maybe we can change that. And you voted pre coffee. I’m impressed.
One ballot.
I am in MA. All candidates are on the same ballot. Also, you do not need to declare what party you are affiliated with when getting your ballot in the general election (only in the primary do you receive your ballot based on how you are registered).
In Delaware, longest line I’ve ever experienced. Everyone is pleasant and professional. Neighbors in front of us voting Red all the way
Small town in central IL mostly a red area, easily triple the people I saw four years ago at same time, 6:00AM.
MAGA country – get all your peeps out to rock that popular vote in IL!
Plus, we need NO votes on the amendment to raise taxes!
Husband and I voted straight Republican at our small, rural polling place. Recreation hall at a small church in Saluda County, SC. You scan your ID, they give you a long card with your barcode at the top. You sign on touchscreen with a long Q-Tip (because of Covid) You insert into machine and use touch screen use Q-Tip to make choices.
The ballot comes out and you can double check that it accurately reflects your vote – Names and barcode for each candidate you voted for. Then you are direct to secure ballot box and you put your vote in it.
Unless there is something hinky with programming, I felt this system was very secure. Longer line than usual at the off-hour of 10 am, but I understand they had large line for before-work voters. My daughter had short wait at her polling station (also GOP area) around 9 am. They said lines were longer than usual at 6-7am, though.
I’m in SC as well. Line at my poll in Lexington was over 100 people at 8am. They weren’t very clear on inserting the ballot in the machine and I didn’t read till after it was supposed to go in upside down. Just hope my vote was counted.
Have a similar machine to put paper ballots here in VA. I asked her if it was supposed to go face up or face down and she said it didn’t matter. As long as you got a message on the machine that your ballot was counted, you should be fine.
We had a poll worker at the scan machine. I asked and he said it does not matter which way the ballot is inserted. I inserted blank side up and watched as the machine accepted and counted the ballot. Georgia’s new system and I was impressed.
Hinky. My kind of people.
Same process in central Kansas. Poll workers said the line was outside at 0530 for a 0600 opening and line has been steady all morning. 25 minute wait. People in a good mood and very friendly. Most seemed to just want today to be over.
We live in rural Lee County Alabama. We have been voting at the same polling place for 25 years. Alabama is a solid red state as is our county. I have never seen the turnout that we are witnessing today. Over 100+ standing in line 15 minutes after the polls opened at 0700 CST. We left and went to breakfast, Hour later lines still long but moving quickly.
Ditto in rural Henry County in SE Ala, people were lined up at 6:30 am for polls to open at 7. Took a handicapped friend of my deceased mother to vote, everyone allowed her and I to go to the front of the line and vote, took all of 10 minutes, GOD bless PDJT and all conservatives voting today
Thank you for your service Col. In line in Smith Station, Alabama now. Been here 30 minutes and half way to the doors. Line is moving pretty swift. MAGA
Just went to vote here in Mobile, AL. I usually wait and vote at around 10:00 am to avoid the long lines. I turn right out of my subdivision heading to the church we vote at, turn right again and there is a mile long of cars waiting just to get the church to vote. Massive turnout. NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. MAGA
I just voted in SC. Only a short line of 2-3 people ahead of me. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Voted straight R ticket.
1 1/2 hour wait in west OKC. Longest lines I have seen in the 12 Presidential elections I have voted in. It is important that Oklahoma and its 77 counties remain the only state to have voted for Trump in every single one of them. MAGA
Just voted in Norfolk, VA, Bobby Scott’s district. Voted around 10:45. no lines, a few people, was in and out in about 5 minutes. more poll workers than voters when I was there.
I’ve been voting for a while (my first vote was for Reagan) and this was the first time (or at least the first time that I can recall) that there was a Republican challenger to BS on the ballot. all my previous votes were write-ins, just as a BS protest.
Report it!!!
No line in Georgia. As I put my voter sticker on my shirt I said, “God bless America!” , Everyone around me said, “Yes!Yes!Yes!”
I have one liberal friend and she did not vote. Everyone else I know is for President Trump.
I drove up to a police officer’s patrol car, rolled down my window and said,”Thank you for the work you do. I’m praying for all our officers’ safety today.”
“Thank you so much for saying this,” she said. “I really appreciate it.” I held up four fingers and said,”Four more years.” She said, “I’m in uniform so I can’t say anything…but…” She gave me a big thumbs up and we grinned at each other tearfully.
Trump Pence 2020
May God deliver us from all voter fraud.
That pic of Trump and Pence was from Michigan yesterday – the sky is too lite up to be Grand Rapids so maybe Pence was in Traverse City too where the sky was red for trumps speech.
As I see that pic and Trump is utterly exhausted – leaving all on the field – your comments about how much Gods hand is on America and American law enforcement today and onward gives me great encouragement.
I was in Grand Rapids for trumps rally last night. Patriots blessed with the Holy Spirit are not worried – trump was chosen, this is all for a reason – the law is coming for you, Statists.
Here in Massachusetts district 3, there were only two republican names on the ballot. One for president with four others competing (his name was last on the list), the other was for senator against Markey. All of the remaining choices were democrat incumbents without a challenger. There were no lines, everyone in the Commonwealth received a request form for mail in voting. This is the first year I did not see Democrat yard signs wall to wall. A few here and there, but not a lot. Some trucks with Trump flags seen in town.
Ha! Whenever I see an uncontested race, I always skip to the next and leave that vote blank. That’s either Dem or Repub. It’s just my way of saying that one choice is no choice, except to not vote.
Not this year. I live in a fairly Red County that’s beginning to get a tinge of purple. The Dems in the Blue city just to the South of our County are moving up our way to get out of the Dem-controlled ruination of the city; schools, infrastructure, services, taxes.
All the uncontested races were Republicans, since we are still Red for now. But I voted for them this time just to make it a strong showing for Republicans. I don’t want the newbie Dems to think those positions are vulnerable.
My wife and I just finished voting straight R. We are in Ambler, PA. It’s very blue area and 30 mins waiting to finish whole process. Not too crazy crowded but I feel most of the democrats already voted by mail or hiding in basement due to virus.
First-time poster! I have been reading Treehouse for 3 years! Love Sundance! I live in Northwest Ohio and voted this morning! Steady stream of people, masks, and social distancing! No problems! Quite a few of my fellow church members working the poll! God bless the United States of America!
Welcome? Susieqonamission
Hi Susie!! Great day to be heard, in more ways than one!! Nice to see you here!
Furman Precinct, 500 people voted by 10:15 am. No lines. Long lines last week for early voting.
Last rally I had a sense of sadness because I fear it’s the last Trump rally!
Kind of like losing a friend.
VOTE! VOTE!! VOTE!!!
We have this ladies and gentlemen!
I feel it in the depth of my soul.
freepetta, I feel the same way after being in two Trump boat parades and a Trump car/truck parade this summer. BUT….. I have my TRUMP 2024 flags all ready to go!!!
Cheer up, freepetta. President Trump will be doing more rallies after the election. He’ll do some “Thank You” rallies and some to get his message out by bypassing the YSM.
Put on a happy face! ?
???
freepetta,
the celebration rally/rallies trump has four years from now as a thank you to us will be magical. gonna be Lotts of winning between now and then.
Yes stew and lots of heads rolling! Christopher Wray and Gina Haspel first to go then it will be like dominos.
Update from Farmington Valley area of CT:
I lived here since 2008. Voted in all Presidential elections and all but two mid-terms. Our poll opened at 6am. Wife arrived at 545- long line already. I arrived at 6 and it was even longer. It took about 30-45 to get through. It went pretty quick: many voting booths, including a separate booth for the disabled and elderly. Two tables dividing the district by street name: A-L and M-Z. Both lines were long. CT verifies ID. You then get a ballot., You then use a #2 pencil to fill in. I voted straight red. My wife, a liberal, voted Trump, rest blue, and left Hayes blank. My 23-year-old son is going after work- he’s a straight red.
Masks required, most were wearing outside but I think people where I live just do what is needed to avoid hassles….that seemed to be the sentiments in line. Social distancing is required but most were not following the 6ft rule- duh, you asked us to wear masks.
I have never seen the line as long as it was this morning (and according to a friend- still out the door and around the building but smaller than this AM- for this town in CT…..huge turnout and that’s just one poll- we have 4 or 5). The line was so big….even in 2008 it wasn’t this long and this is a blue blue blue state.
My wife is a trainer- she said the two other polling places in our town she drove by had even bigger lines. She mentioned that the polling place she drove by in the next tows was also massive. She also said she spotted a few vehicles with Trump flags multiple times now- different vehicles. None for Biden.
masks NOT required in CT — Farmington valley polling place know this and will accommodate — constitutional right to vote trumps gov’s illegal mandates, look it up in Courant
They may not be but most were not pushing the issue. I typically do but just wanted to get in and out and be able to watch and observe with out interaction by others.
In Slower Lower Delaware, arrived at 6:40 for 7 am opening. My husband and I were about 50th in line. Slow start due to one out of four voting machines down. It took until 7:40 to finish voting, at which time the line was hundreds of people in line. Pickup trucks lined the rural road as far as the eye could see. Hopefully, a Red Wave, with Lauren Witzke taking down dirty coward C00ns will be our reward. God Bless President Trump. God Bless America!
The outskirts of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Scio Township) – Arrived 10 minutes prior to poll opening. About 25 people ahead of me. ID check, filled out paper ballot that later got scanned by a computer. done. Total process took about 30 minutes. No sign of anything unusual going on, aside from mostly boomer generation people voting.
Just got a rmtext from the Trump campaign– “We need you more than ever, find your polling place.”
Curious. I wonder if turnout isn’t meeting expectations?
I got it as well, 2x actually and already voted. I think it’s just covering the bases.
We are fighting tooth and nail to the very end.. No letup. Every vote counts.
Where r u?
No, just reminding people to get out and vote, not to get complacent.
I’ve had about 5-6 phone calls this morning. Several from POTUS, one from Jr. and others from RNC.
Boise, ID – registered GOP but in a blue precinct. Vote location changed for the first time since 2012, no card received alerting us. No notice on the old vote location advising us. Web search quickly revealed new vote location; moved several blocks away but easily walkable, to bigger site for social distancing. Clear and nonpartisan poll workers walked us through the well-paced & spaced lines. Masks. Fed ballot to scanner ourselves. I was the 27th ballot cast on my scanner. Whole experience 30 minutes.
Austin TX – My son just voted 10am in Austin-short line (blue area-good news). The polling place was asking people if they were voting for the first time and dinging a bell for first time voters, so apparently they’re keeping stats on that. The two people in front of him were California transplants who thought they could vote with a drivers’ license and utility bill, but no registration. They were turned away and said they could still vote by mail in ballot in CA. Welcome to Texas!
Voted at 7:30 AM here in Western North Carolina, town pop. 300…..no waiting, well run by all my friendly neighbors…..steady arrival of voters, should be a good day!! God Bless our President, his family and associates and God Bless our great Country!! #TRUMP2020
My brother just got back from voting in Rural Utah (Cache County). He said it was MAGA Dragon Energy. Flags, Hats, and Trucks galore.
Amen!!

I have been voting in Madison Alabama for years and I have never seen the lines for voting at my polling place! All Trump and No sniffers!
I am voting later today, rural eastern Seminole County, FL. Lots of hard-working Florida crackers in this town driving their trucks with the Trump flags, and this Vermont transplant loves every one of them! I did a recon this morning driving through town to scout out the line of voters, taking the long way to Publix. It was longish, but the parents were dropping kids off at school and voting then, as is usual.
I followed a Karen out of my neighborhood, who had this bumper sticker: “I got my B.S. from Trump Looniversity”. I grinned as she had to pass a YUGE homemade sign that said something like “You want to vote for Biden? When you wouldn’t hire him for a job?” I need to go back and take a picture. A tenth of a mile later she had to pass a big Trump sign erected on the corner of the street we have to turn on to get to the polling location. Hah!
Further down the street, two homemade signs along the now county road that is busy with commuters: “Trump Town USA” mounted on top of tall telephone poles. No one’s taking them down!
I wore my Trump/Pence shirt into Publix and the workers were not so happy this morning. The deli worker seemed to be very unhappy with me. But I was not deterred and feel the same hope and joy I did when shopping there 4 years ago in the same shirt!
I am purposely voting late as I want to see how many people voted compared to past elections as they flip through the book to find my name…
Voted this morning in my suburb of Buffalo NY at 7am. No line. Was number voter #141
Very long line here in crawford AL. Amazing to see that
Whole family just voted for Trump. Plymouth CO MA. Brisk voting. 10 minutes.
Whole family just voted for Trump. Plymouth CO MA. Brisk voting. 10 minutes.
Everyone it is only what 11am est and the Republican voters in Florida have already passed the Dems by the amount President Trump was ahead in 2016!!!!!
KEEP IT UP! EVERYONE! DO NOT STOP! KEEP VOTING FOR PRESIDENT TRUMP right up until the polls close!!!
FOOT ON THE THROAT BABY !!!!!!
Here in a small barrier island town on the Florida east coast, the turnout at 9 am was the most I’ve ever seen. The parking lot and nearby street was packed. A lot of people were voting but the line moved fast. The nearby Publix had very few shoppers. I wore my red white and blue striped blouse – I think that was why several people gave a conspiratorial smile, and one, a thumbs up! Not much in the way of street signs. I’ve been voting in every election here for the last twenty years.
I live in blue s.c. unfort. The line to vote was only long when it opened. So many repubs here voted in person absentee. Basically everyone i know. I will share wonderful news out of Michigan. My 74 yr old Mom was elated to see Trump flags and signs everywhere by polling station. She said never in her life has she seen so much enthusiasm for a candidate! She has never seen long lines either! She is so excited!
Just want to remind everyone. Don’t wear your Trump gear to your precincts or they will turn you away.
Good reminder. I wore my SPACE FORCE t-shirt and nobody seemed to notice 🙂
Wear red, red, red, lotsa red.
Slinger, WI (Washington County): Was in line at 8:50, line out the door. People talking about Biden sucks, re-elect 45. I was voter number 579 and fed my ballot in the machine myself. I had to state my name and address and my ID was checked and I had to sign to receive a ballot (proof of citizenship required on ID). Walked out the door at 9:00. Lots of excited people.
wow…is it too late to add to OHiden Gaffe’s???
If you turn the volume up to eleven you can just make out what she says.
“Joe there’s no shame in losing to the best President ever. Now step away from the edge.”
836 am voted at the costa mesa city hall in orange county. Took longer to find the dropoff point than it did to check in and deposit our ballots in the drop box. Mostly people doing drive thru dropoff, saw a couple dozen people driving or walking inside to vote.
Saw one person drive thru vote with a Trump sign in their passenger window, and a couple volunteers from Michelle Steel’s campaign (I assume) waving signs for her on the sidewalk outside the city hall complex. No sign of Biden enthusiasm that I saw, but I expect the demoncrats to try their vote stealing shenanigans again like they did with Rouda in 2018.
Some days I really miss my hometown of Costa Mesa. Continental and Victoria!
Republicans were forced to do their own ballot harvesting this year. They put ballot collection boxes up at Republican places like churches and Senior Centers. Liberals had a cow about it but were not able to stop it. The GOP told the Sec of State to forget about it. They aren’t stopping. It isn’t illegal.
Rouda must go. I see him actually telling people he is non partisan. A guy who voted to impeach the President in a totally partisan sham is telling people he is non partisan. That makes him a liar as well. He is Nancy Pelosi in drag.
Just voted in deep blue Austin, TX. Was able to check out both polling places on UT Austin campus, and there was no line at either. Poll workers seem bored and thrilled that anyone is walking up to vote. I’ve been watching the lines during Texas early voting as well and there just hasn’t been a lot of turn out. I’m hoping this means there is a depressed marxist student and faculty turnout!
I just got back from voting in my midwest small town on the edge of a big metro city, No plexigas cages around the poll helpers. We got to sit down and vote. It was quite nice. Hand sanitizer if you wanted it, but they didn’t seem to care if you wore a mask or not. It was my 1st and only time to do so. They had signs for social distancing but there were no mask or distancing nazis. 30 minutes total in and out MAX. The line was growing the whole time I was there and had been much shorter earlier according to someone who voted at least an hour before me.
It was very subdued, like everyone wants to just get this over with. An older gent in front of me with a walker said he’d seen more young kids voting than before. Could just be the time of day, or they are sick of seeing their freedoms stolen, I hope.
#IVOTEDMAGA2020
I waited an hour in the cold this morning to vote in a suburb of Cleveland, they were making sure everyone was 6 feet apart and masked to the gills : / It went smoothly but the only thing I didn’t like was the person standing at the machine to scan my voting sheet was able to get a good look at my answers, she seemed displeased, too bad : )
Grrr…same here. So much for a secret ballot, huh? Person standing by the machine was easily able to read my answers. I am really annoyed. (I always vote so it annoys me every time, but I am glad to hear someone else say it, too!)
On my ballot the print was really small and I held it in my hand blank side up. He did not see a thing, but I wouldn’t have cared if he had. Proud of my vote for VSPGPDJT!
Georgia here, I voted on Friday, but I did notice some good voting changes since 16, you vote electronically but it prints out so you can check the accuracy and then your paper is scanned into another designated ballot box. It seemed more secure.
In 16 the machine kicked out my ballot and the poll worker said it was because I had already voted, which I hadn’t. I had to complain etc and I eventually was given a new ballot. Probably just canceled myself out.
Tiny town in CenTex. Walked right in at 10:15, finished by 10:30. We had tablet sign-in, so couldn’t see my number on the precinct list, but voting was going very smoothly. There were about nine voters other than myself.
Our county went 80% for Trump in ’16. I will be interested to see what the number is this time.
Normally, I’d be a poll challenger somewhere in the Greater Grand Rapids (Michigan) Metropolitan Area, but that’s not an option this time around. Courtesy of pancreatic cancer, my late wife was invited to Heaven not quite two years ago. Since then, I’ve been raising our now-nine-year-old daughter by myself . . . which includes figuring out how to adapt to my entire life being thrown sideways (because “new normal” isn’t a target that’s stationary).
Anyone who’d be open to childcare today, would have to have allowed me to drop off my daughter last night, and allow me to not pick her up before tomorrow morning, which didn’t seem particularly wise. Also, because one of her classmates tested positive for the corona (two Thursdays ago), I’m a homeschool dad until Friday. It’s not that bad, as our little parochial school’s tech people did a really good job of adapting to “distance learning” (incorporating multiple lessons learned from last spring), so all I have to do is keep her focused . . . which has its own challenges.
So, since I cannot be in three places simultaneously, back on Saturday, I stopped by Kentwood City Hall to personally cast my ballot early. (There was a line, but it moved quickly, I was done in less than 25 minutes.) And then my daughter and I did the last of the GOTV canvassing in our neighborhood. (Because she insisted on canvassing in costume, we got in a little light trick-or-treating while we were at it.) Today, I’m going to make a point of staying away from the news channels, except for the occasional check-in. I have a few projects that I need to get done anyway.
That said, I’m going to stick with my projection from a week ago. (Unlike this year’s media baseline, I started with the presumption that President Trump will retain every state that he carried in 2016, and built an educated inference from there.) The powder-blue and rose-pink states are those where I’m thinking that the margin of victory will be ≤ 5%: https://www.270towin.com/maps/Dey18
I’m very sorry for your loss! Your wife is very proud of you even though she’s no longer here, Kevin. God Bless you and your daughter!
Well done sir. Very fine map. And I think your tally’s are very spot on and very plausible. I told my wife CT (where I reside) may go for Trump. I didn’t think that two weeks ago. Nor even one week. But over the last 5 days- the rallies, the trump trains, the signage has exploded. If Trump loses CT (it won’t be a surprise) it won’t be by more than 2 pts. Just my thoughts. But, I currently think he squeaks by….and then we will need to guard against cheating.
I am sorry for your loss, and am pretty sure your daughter is growing up to know what a real man, husband and father look like, through your words and actions.
