Polk County, in which Des Moines is located, went for Hillary in 2016 by a 52.4% to 40.9% (for DJT) margin. That will provide some perspective. Except for one county immediately to the north of Polk, the entire western and central state voted for DJ Trump. Eastern Iowa had several counties that voted for Hillary.
The only IA county to go heavily for Clinton in 2016 was Johnson County, in which the University of Iowa is located in Iowa City. The other three “blue” counties in eastern Iowa were only blue by small margins; generally less than 10% difference between Hillary’s total and Trump’s total.

Polk county is going Trump this year… we are seeing great grass roots support and having a 2nd Trump motorcade next Saturday… Thousands expected to attend yet again. Don Jr met with the organizer yesterday….Farm Country here in Eastern Iowa is 95% Trump.

The past month has been pure hell for us . . . hubby got light case of Covid, but mine was super heavy duty! After 3 weeks, MAYBE I’m on the mend. Only normal thing I did was watch the Trump-Biden debate, and the VP debate.
Hope this photo will post. We have an 1879 Victorian and in 2016 hubby took a single level of scaffolding and attached a huge Trump-Pence sign to it. This time around he went up TWO levels instead of one. He also drilled holes in the “Trump” name and put white Christmas lights in it. This has been up since late September; our other-nationality neighbors across the street were distinctly unhappy. My other neighbor said, “The F*** word must be the same in Spanish as English because that’s about every other word after your sign went up!”
