Since it was classified, many people haven’t heard that one of John McCain’s mostly-harmless “antics” caused the worst fire in US Naval history and the highest casualty accident on a US surface ship since WWII (27 dead, 100 wounded)? If you guessed “be transferred to the USS Oriskany less than a week later”, you would be right.
McCain, the Admiral’s son, had “wet started” his A-4 jet with fuel intentionally pumped into the tailpipe. John McCain was POW, who really suffered in service to our country ,and a corrupt politician. He represented us as a Presidential candidate but always stuck a knife in our back (and his running mate’s back, Sarah Palin) with his support of dem policies and “not a bad man”, Obama.

Knowing of his prior support of Democrats, and his billionaire status, it didn’t register in my mind that he was as serious as a heart attack about winning and taking on all of the nations problems that came with the Presidency.
I thought his irreverent treatment of his competitors was unusually undiplomatic, but it struck me as being consistent with his hard-nosed N.Y. style with which he addressed existing problems with the country. In the early months of 2016 I became increasingly fond of DJT’s overt distaste for political correctness and his obvious dislike of the lying media. It was his brusqueness and willingness to speak so bluntly that really won me over.
And I already knew about and could not stand John McCain, so DJT’s treatment of McCain and willingness to disparage McCains war record didn’t bother me one iota.

Someone asked why POTUS apparently cancelled a planned ad blitz in Arizona.
My guess is that because of the military smear, which included POTUS supposedly putting down McCain, the campaign decided to wait to deploy resources. You never want to be swimming upstream when you run ads. Let the thing be further debunked and run its course and then put out ads in the state McCain served as senator.
Arizona is a key state. There are a lot of older people there (people scared of Covid), and you have the influence of McCain, Flake and Romney. POTUS’ team has to approach things there in a strategic way. I’m sure if they think they need to, they’ll cut the state loose and look for other paths to victory. But I don’t think that’s the situation now, whatever the fake polls may say.

They are likely now running through millions of hours of footage to find speeches he’s made – even before being president – about honoring servicemen, as well as finding footage of him at Walter Reed, his recent 4th of July ceremonies honoring all the different services and their equipment, his visits to different bases, including with First Lady Melania.
My suspicion is they’ll turn it around and run a MASSIVE blitz toward the Military, which will be about returning our soldiers to their families back home, and keeping America safe AT HOME (and not in foreign wars) and NOT using soldiers as pawns, frankly as the use the Black community.
I wouldn’t even be surprised by a prime time address just to counter it (as I suspect it will be a level of hyperventilating during today’s morning shows, he’ll claim he’s entitled to equal time).
I also said yesterday in a post that doesn’t seem to have made it that i wouldn’t be surprised if he showed up on a military base, either here or abroad. I think that’s also why there’s so much North Carolina focus.
He’s no fool, and always turns things back on them and hits back TWICE as hard.
Yes, the campaign is quite adept at stuff like this. Remember the most important thing a Commander in Chief can do for a service member, their spouse, their children, their parents is to not send them off to die.

Responding to this attack doesn’t gain him new voters; it can only prevent him from losing voters, or at least spending resources where he *can* gain voters. I would hope he could summarily dismiss the narrative and go on ruthless attack on the Biden campaign for something. Among the ideas underpinning CRT, now formally condemned by the White House, is that the law and all accompanying legal institutions are inherently racist, and that race itself has no biological grounds. The concept of ethnicity is, instead, the product of a white society that uses systems and institutions to advance its own interests at the expense of minorities.

“It has come to the President’s attention that Executive Branch agencies have spent millions of taxpayer dollars to date ‘training’ government workers to believe divisive, anti-American propaganda,” Vought writes in the memo, obtained first by RCP.
“For example, according to press reports, employees across the Executive Branch have been required to attend trainings where they are told that ‘virtually all White people contribute to racism’ or where they are required to say that they ‘benefit from racism,’” he continued.

“We cannot accept our employees receiving training that seeks to undercut our core values as Americans and drive division within our workforce,” the memo to all federal agencies reads.
Agencies are instructed to identify any contracts or agency spending that funds programs teaching federal employees about critical race theory and/or white privilege. This includes, RCP has learned, any effort to teach or suggest that either “the United States is an inherently racist or evil country” or that “any race or ethnicity is inherently racist or evil.”
