GO MAGA!!!
OK, I may bite…grass cut…but need to rake some leaves before tomorrows rain, LOL…
PDJT needs to come to IL by way of say, St. Louis or maybe Cairo, IL….he needs to put Cairo back on the map….! Both are river cities…the potential for revitalization, is good, if managed properly.
“Cairo, Illinois is the southernmost city in the U.S. state of Illinois and the county seat of Alexander County.
Located at the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio rivers, it is the only Illinois city surrounded by levees and sits at the state’s lowest elevation of 315 feet.
The city has experienced severe population decline, dropping from a peak of over 15,000 in 1920 to approximately 1,523 residents as of 2024.
This depopulation is attributed to economic decline, the shift away from river trade, catastrophic flooding, and significant racial tensions that plagued the area for decades.”
They are getting an AF1 Flyover…
Cairo IL is a wasteland of boarded buildings and liqour stores. It does have some beautiful chaurches though
It is a wasteland….ripe for revitalization!
Retired Magistrate here: A lot of the smaller river cities have suffered over the years; for example, Portsmouth, Ohio where I grew up and Steubenville, Ohio where my husband grew up. Both used to be vibrant steel and subsidiary manufacturing towns but all the factories closed due to the inability to keep up with cheap Japanese steel.
Now both river towns have declined significantly and have drug and crime problems. Both are beautiful areas but not places you would want to live.
It is sad to see the declines of places one knew and loved….Yes, the river industries have suffered, along with the railroads…I wonder if revitalization would correct the drug and violence problems…? Probably not in our lifetimes…its a half hour from either airport one in Paducah and the other in Cape Girardeau…ah we can dream…
The Des Plaines river in Joliet, still does fair barge traffic…enough for the state of IL to plan to redo the bridge over the river…(I-80)…its a safety issue…the bridge is probably near collapse, and all the traffic does not help.
WHEN they COMPLETED The INTERSTATE…
i Grew Up going across the OLD 2 Way Traffic Bridge in the 1960s after driving thru Rantoul also !
Pretty desolate and that’s sad…when I hit that interstate bridge and the interstate exit #1 (IL tourist info at the border rest stop, I get my second wind)…Welcome to IL and all our chem trails…
Now, when IL wants to revitalize, they used to build a prison but now, the prison pop is down (safe T act, no bail etc), they are not “needed”.
A zonian HS friend was stationed at Rantoul, in the 80’s, now its housing…they still had the minuteman missile on the front lawn…was there a few years ago….
Sundance, I love you like a brother, but I sure wish you would start sourcing these rally videos from Rumble instead of YT.
AF 1 pulling up…
