~ Correction: JD Vance leads the negotiations, along with Witkoff and Kushner. Yesterday I thought he was out.

I will not claim that Trump was saved to save Israel—I do not know the ways of God. But did you know that Nixon was destined to save Israel? It’s actually fascinating. See this short video (just over three minutes):
~ The Israeli stock market is at its highest range ever. The Israeli currency has also broken its highest level in 30 years.
~ We still had around 60 launches from Lebanon, mainly causing significant damage. Israel has reduced its attacks in Lebanon. I am sure the U.S. asked for this to enable the negotiations in Pakistan.
~ The Lebanese ambassador to the U.S. met with Israeli officials—direct negotiations. Reports say the U.S. is pushing to add Lebanon to the Abraham Accords peace deal.
I need to explain something about the Israeli point of view as opposed to the American one.
In the U.S., elections are typically driven by the economy.
In Israel, it is security. A candidate can have the best economic plan, but if they are perceived as weak on security, they will not be elected. And it’s not only about appearing tough—we want to know their precise policies on Palestinians, Lebanon, Hamas, etc.
Why am I saying this? Because we don’t care about peace with Lebanon—who is not in control of Lebanon and we are not in a war with them—if it means withdrawing from South Lebanon and relying on them to protect our border, which they failed to do before and are not able to do now. This is what is being pushed. In past years, they were quite dishonest, pretending they would disarm Hezbollah while Hezbollah grew stronger under their nose. So I feel this is more about pleasing Trump than a real solution.
There are large segments in Lebanon who dislike Hezbollah, and this is growing—mainly among Christians. But they are not in a position to deal with Hezbollah.
Trump’s latest post:
~To summarize: there are two main camps in Israel.
One is the left and the right, who say: “Would WWII, with the Nazis still in control of Germany, be considered a victory?” The left uses this to attack the government; the right speaks more from the heart.
The center says: “Let’s see if we can at least solve the nuclear issue. If yes, we can take that as a win. We may have to fight again in the future, but things can change until then.”
Most of us feel closer to the first group, but we would accept the second—so long as the regime does not receive financial rewards that will eventually be used against us.
This should give you a good idea of the sentiment in Israel. Expectations Vs reality.

The left in Israel is similar to the US. The right is more aggressive on security matters.
The idea that “Ending the war now is like leaving the Nazis in power in WW2” is used by the left to bash the government as if we lost the war.
The right also feels a miss, a feeling of a premature ending. But the right will take a win on the nuclear subject and still appretiate the government if it happens and Trump manages to retrieve the uranium.
The left is never happy, their priority is replacing the government at almost all costs

I suspect we will see a performance based freeze. Iran gets a metered release of frozen assets for ‘humanitarian needs’, and in exchange, we get the uranium, a verified stop to enrichment, and a reopened Strait. It kicks the can, allowing the U.S. to stabilize the markets for the midterms while giving the Iranian regime just enough of an economic transfusion to keep their own domestic unrest from boiling over.
We must remember the Chinese and to a smaller extent the Russians in all of this.
Russia can only be more enthused about their position as a global player now with their energy assets that most certainly will be sold to many countries that normally would not be in play.
The Chinese need the Strait opened and their railway lines un-impeded in Iran. A huge amount of their oil needs come from this region. They want Iran to come back to a comfortable chaos as soon as possible.

The blockade of the Strait is selective. Iranian oil still passes. This means that China is not in trouble. But in any case only some 13% of their oil is from Iran.
I assume that the US enabled it to avoid getting China pissed off and a deeper world economic trouble.
But this actually works well for Iran, because prices went up and they are still flowing oil to customers.
That’s a desirable outcome. We have a variable – The new regime and the new Supreme Leader. So, I can’t predict, I don’t know them good enough. On public statements they are as bad as they come, but we will see.
Trump has two goals, eliminate the nuclear threat, and prevent Iran from projecting power beyond its borders. That would have to include an open strait, and no longer sponsoring terrorist organizations. Bibi wanted the citizens to rise up and replace their government. Trump’s view–that is up to them, not us.
Hezbollah has to go, but who will eliminate it? No more money will help, so can pressure from the Accord participants. Trump relies on economic pressure, which in the US the deep state had no idea how to oppose. Will radical Islamists care? Probably not. They want to die for their cause. The only win-win is to kill them. Not sure Trump sees that option clearly enough.
Yes. I agree. But the goals are parallel Israel and the US only for the US the nukes are existential too and for Israel the missiles are existential. For Israel a regime change means peace and an end for the Hezbollah and proxies. The US wants it too but not as much as Israel.
Overall it’s a collaborative operation. They are pretty much working together.

So moving. Nixon was (is?) truly a HERO to Israelis!
In June of 1974, a few months after the YK War and its lingering effects ended, I went to a major intersection very near the Knesset and — along with MANY, MANY genuinely loving, grateful, and loudly appreciative Israelis — cheered President Nixon as he entered Jerusalem.
This was the FIRST time a sitting President had visited Israel.
I could clearly see his face. He looked so joyous and clearly fulfilled.
At home: he was in the middle of Watergate and ending the Vietnam War.

I was THERE in Israel before, during, and after the Yom Kippur War.
David: until knowing you here and learning from you, I had NO IDEA how bad it was in the first week or two of the YK War.
Israelis were too busy (!), saving their Beloved, Blessed, Precious, Sacred, and Holy Land and Country of ISRAEL, to fill me in with any detail; and since my American and Canadian friends did not seem particularly worried, I was relatively calm.
Of course, if I had been fluent in Hebrew and listening to the Israeli radio (no TV in the house we were renting), I would have known more.
As it was, I listened to the one English-language broadcast I knew about.
Once the YK War was over, I did not hear alot spoken about how horrible it had been. There was a lot of grieving — more than I realized at the time.

Second laugh of the day. Can not imagine looking up and seeing that zeroing in on me! This has not happened yet, but I’m waiting cautiously for it! If it happens, it will be one of the daughters (most likely Pumpkin), as Cleo doesn’t seem to be a launcher! She likes to bat things around and put them under doors and furniture.
I can sometimes hear my son laughing in his room or in the bathroom as they bat something under the door and then stick their paws under trying to get it back. He keeps trying to get a photo but they are just too quick for him.
He has not been home most weekends. He has been down in Marble Falls. He spent Easter in Midland with his girlfriend, her siblings and their Grandmother and Grandfather. I usually do not see him until late Monday.
Had papers to grade this week which were time consuming, so did not get to respond to the Cursday images. They were wonderful, as always. Thank you.

Morning, Pat. Thursday for me was a hit and run, dog-wise. Much unexpected which demanded our attention as the unexpected always does…
We’ve never had a moggie who was so inclined to lurch thank goodness. Loved the woman’s expression here though. That would be mine.
Our younger daughter and family lived in Midland for years by virtue of her petroleum engineer’s job. She was happy there. So Corpus, New Braunfels, Midland, and now outside of (again thank goodness) Houston. We had a Treeper who used to post poetically of his times long ago in Houston when he worked as a diver for various petroleum companies. Quite specialized, demanding, and dangerous work. Different times then, and he had an almost Faulkner-like gift for writing which painted his experiences under water and his life when he was not so vividly that I anyone who read them was traveling with him. You would have given him A+++ on his, I’ll call them, essays.
So all sounds relatively peaceful at Chez Pat & Co…everyone in his or her place and settled. We take those moments and are grateful the older we get I think. I’m sure you’ll agree…
And finally, yes!!! Oh YES!!! Bat whatever it is around but always aim for the tightest, most inaccessible place it can go. Chris designed a long handled implement just for the purposes of retrieval so we wouldn’t have to be on our knees all the time. Those days are gone now, but we still find the odd missing projectile. Then come the memories…funny what a balled up piece of aluminum can evoke.

Every time I sit on my bed now, Cleo is up there walking around me and rubbing me and getting in my lap for scratches and rubs, purring quite loudly. I do have to be mindful of the claws though and she also likes to nibble and can hurt me, not with intention, as I think she never had any gentle touch and just knows defensive posture. I just get her attention away from biting and on to something else. Usually a small stuffed mouse or a small ball.
She means well, bless her. Probably can’t quite believe her luck at being rescued. I’m trying to remember which of our many did that, too 🤔

Every morning I sit on the edge of the bed before rising just to get the joints working the way they should! I’ve had to keep a cane close by and use it until I get my first cup of coffee into me. By then, the joints are no longer protesting and I can move easier. Getting old is not for “wimps” is it?

First thing for me is to get mobile, lest I seize up completely. Cup of tea always plus the ibuprofen. Then a sit and a read, by which time an hour later no issues. Then coffee. One of life’s small treats and medicinally recommended 👍🏻☕

Biography: James Anthony Bailey was an American circus ringmaster and one of the founders of the Barnum & Bailey Circus. She is loving that hen and the hen doesn’t seem to mind it one bit! I had a rooster I could pick up like that all the time and he loved it.
This is how we taught our dogs that our laying hens were family. Later we had some chicks that weren’t from our hens so we had to protect them but one managed to escape their coop. My alpha female dog held that baby in her mouth for hours until we got home! Little thing was traumatized but I washed the dog slime off and gave her a blow dry and she was all over it! Dog was half golden half white wolf. Best dog ever! Got her in a border town where she was homeless and she fell in love with our dog who was tied to the front porch on a long rope. She grabbed that rope in her mouth and led him back and forth. Everyone told us to take her home and we did. She loved car rides for ever after. And all the kids understood that our two dogs were husband and wife.

COMMENTARY FOR JOHN 3:16
Christ’s discourse with Nicodemus. (1-21) The baptism of Christ John’s testimony. (22-36)
Jesus Christ came to save us by pardoning us, that we might not die by the sentence of the law. Here is gospel, good news indeed. Here is God’s love in giving his Son for the world. God so loved the world; so really, so richly. Behold and wonder, that the great God should love such a worthless world! Here, also, is the great gospel duty, to believe in Jesus Christ. God having given him to be our Prophet, Priest, and King, we must give up ourselves to be ruled, and taught, and saved by him. And here is the great gospel benefit, that whoever believes in Christ, shall not perish, but shall have everlasting life. God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, and so saving it. It could not be saved, but through him; there is no salvation in any other. From all this is shown the happiness of true believers; he that believeth in Christ is not condemned. Though he has been a great sinner, yet he is not dealt with according to what his sins deserve. How great is the sin of unbelievers! God sent One to save us, that was dearest to himself; and shall he not be dearest to us? How great is the misery of unbelievers! they are condemned already; which speaks a certain condemnation; a present condemnation. The wrath of God now fastens upon them; and their own hearts condemn them. There is also a condemnation grounded on their former guilt; they are open to the law for all their sins; because they are not by faith interested in the gospel pardon. Unbelief is a sin against the remedy. It springs from the enmity of the heart of man to God, from love of sin in some form. Read also the doom of those that would not know Christ. Sinful works are works of darkness. The wicked world keep as far from this light as they can, lest their deeds should be reproved. Christ is hated, because sin is loved. If they had not hated saving knowledge, they would not sit down contentedly in condemning ignorance. On the other hand, renewed hearts bid this light welcome. A good man acts truly and sincerely in all he does. He desires to know what the will of God is, and to do it, though against his own worldly interest. A change in his whole character and conduct has taken place. The love of God is shed abroad in his heart by the Holy Ghost, and is become the commanding principle of his actions. So long as he continues under a load of unforgiven guilt, there can be little else than slavish fear of God; but when his doubts are done away, when he sees the righteous ground whereon this forgiveness is built, he rests on it as his own, and is united to God by unfeigned love. Our works are good when the will of God is the rule of them, and the glory of God the end of them; when they are done in his strength, and for his sake; to him, and not to men. Regeneration, or the new birth, is a subject to which the world is very averse; it is, however, the grand concern, in comparison with which every thing else is but trifling. What does it signify though we have food to eat in plenty, and variety of raiment to put on, if we are not born again? if after a few mornings and evenings spent in unthinking mirth, carnal pleasure, and riot, we die in our sins, and lie down in sorrow? What does it signify though we are well able to act our parts in life, in every other respect, if at last we hear from the Supreme Judge, “Depart from me, I know you not, ye workers of iniquity?”

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
