No tax on social security is not true.
There remains a progressive tax.
It has been restated “most SS beneficiaries” will not pay tax. There are recipients over a preset threshold that should pay taxes on benefits.
What is your objection?
Most, if not all of them, have ample tax shelters and deductions that they are entitled to.
My point is clear, it is to clarify.
You might recall we were told “no tax on social security.”
In fact, this is not the case. The tax change gives a break to lower SSI earners, but taxes higher income earners, otherwise called a progressive tax.
My objection? At this point, I object to all taxes, particularly when the tax money we provide the federal government is wasted and given away via theft and fraud.
Some folks don’t need SS to retire, others are depending on it so they can retire at all.
What shouldn’t there be a threshold to pay a tax? In a sense it’s like fitting into another tax bracket when earning over a certain income.
When Somalis are laughing at us, making millions of dollars, sending our tax dollars through TSA, to fund radical Muslims in Africa, buying homes and expensive cars with our tax dollars, and federal tax fraud has been estimated at 10%, I object to federal taxes on the American people.
The federal government is now and has been mismanaging the tax money we give them. They cannot even pass a working budget. Rand Paul points out year after year, the nonsense on which we pay taxes. I object to the entire income tax structure.
This country was much better off in the late 1800s when there was NO INCOME TAX and our government’s revenue came from those who want to do business with this country, otherwise known as tariffs.
I object to the concept of “some folks don’t need SS to retire.” Who are you, and who is the government to say you don’t need this or this person needs this? The entire redistribution system creates haves and have nots and breeds laziness and class envy. It stifles hard work. I object to the income tax.
Spot on…none of their business.
Lorraine, may I ask what you think that threshold amount should be?
$25,000? $50,000? $75,000? $100,000? Higher?
In a household,
there may be 1 spouse retired and over 65, and perhaps decides to apply for social security,
and
the other spouse may be of lessor age, and still working, and may be near their lifetime peak in annual earnings – which soon will be much, much, less, upon retiring
The progressive tax as it stands, and the combined income,
could have the retired spouse paying a very high income tax, that cuts the Soc Sec. income about in half.
The ‘household’ combined income of 130 – 150k with no tax on social security
could actually make it helpful for the retired spouse to actually fully ‘earn’ the social security
that he / she had paid into the SSA program for decades.
[ instead of being taxed on the SSA funds, he / she earned, in an exorbitant amount ]
p.s.
Yes, there is a tax on social security income earners. The tax gets higher, and higher, the more one, or a household, earns.
p.s.
when people pay in to a program, then he / she earns a reasonable right to withdraw from a program.
p.s.
the fraudsters – that never paid into a program –
that are withdrawing government funds (from tax payers),
yes, they should be taxed….big time….and then some – including legal measures of accountability…
(and no, the government should not pay the lawyer, the fraudster(s) should.)
imho
Yes, some people need social security to live off of…some have collected social security all their lives and are not disabled…
People pay into social security and medicare by “working” this is not a free benefit.
Contact Congess to close their borrowing loop hole from SS. They borrow from SS and Medicare and never pay back and than these 2 programs get shortfalls…not right
No tax on SS was proposed, but the Congress Critters would not do it.
So, no tax for most, and reduced for pretty much all.
You are correct. I cringed when the White House and the President would say “no tax on social security”. There still is an income tax on SS over a certain threshold. They should have said that “every taxpayer over 65 has been given an additional $6,000 tax deduction, $12,000 if both spouses are over 65, whether you itemize or take the standard deduction, and your adjusted gross income is under $150,000. ” It’s called an “Enhanced Deduction for Seniors”.
Unfortunately even that $6K (and x2) is prorated…because the thieves and cheats can’t help themselves by doing things complicated any normal person would find ridiculous and reprehensible.
Exactly…anyone retired from the work force should pay ZERO income tax except for maybe investment income(let alone property taxes, which is rent…but that’s another topic for discussion). Sell your home of 25 years for a premium because of all your hard work, get heavily taxed above $500K (which is peanuts in this inflationary day and age). It’s robbery, not any more complicated than that (like Warren trying – again – for a wealth tax that is just above her $40M self worth…somehow achieved on a $174K/year salary).
Taxing people until they are dead, then just thereafter, is why ‘We’ left England in the first place – except Congress Thieves and Cheats have worked for decades to return us to that ‘overlord’ system that destroys retirements, incentives, and businesses (the Covid psyop anyone?). THESE politicians work for We The People, not the other way around.
SSA is not ‘benefits’, as our Great Merciful Snake-Oil Charlatans love to say when tossing stale bread into the fawning crowd who don’t know any better. SSA was taken (aka. stolen under an un-Constitutional law only a politician could conjure up) at the point of a bayonet from paycheck #1 through to retirement. Galling is it was then subsequently thieved by Congress, who replaced my money with an IOU. This money I ‘get back’ from under this “program” is a refund that was ‘forcibly lent’ interest free, and is a friggin’ government run Ponzi scheme that you or I would be put in jail if we did the same…which says everything about the so-called “safety net” mess.
What’s is further galling is taxing it after disbursement, like it was income. Anyone advocating that this thievery is acceptable needs to have their head examined.
My bookkeeper said the tax is on the money you earn over your social security.
My SS is taxed. We have retired on SS because everything is paid off. No debt. That does not enter into it.
We earn money
business wise.. NO TAX
Very misleading statement
and I still love my President
never had to pay tax on my ss but its so small, any tax would be more than I receive.
I love him too, but not Congress and not income redistribution, which is just another name for buying votes.
Student loans. Vote democrat. We’ll forgive your student loans.
Child care. Vote democrat. We’ll look the other way while you steal taxpayer money. Medicare, Medicaid, Covid relief, same.
Welfare, afdc, section 8, Snap, vote for us, we’ll provide you a living, help you raise your children, give you food and housing and you will never have to work or get married.
“I saw her today at the reception, a glass of wine in her hand. I knew she was going to meet her connection. At her feet, was a foot loose man. You can’t always get what you want, you can’t always get what you want, you can’t always get what you want; but if you try sometimes, you might find that you get what you need” -Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.
Thank you Sundance!
Watching now.
Love to watch her conviction 💥🇺🇸🦅
The media group today is especially nasty and insulting. If dreadfully obtuse were a horse these jackwads could circumvent the globe.
They’ve got nothing but insults. The sole purpose of mainstream media is to attack the United States’ position of sovereignty and military superiority that exists to prevent the demise of the one superpower on earth.
Each day their vitriol is worse. I do so hope their noise is the collective scream of a disintegrating demon.
That is the voice of desperation. I agree Alleycats that rational thought escapes these self proclaimed journalists who are demonically oppressed, therefore they lack awareness as they continue embarrassing themselves publically to an increasingly incredulous audience.
I look at them as unprofessional and a gage of how far the forth estate has fallen.
Indeed.
Karoline is a rock star with the media
This lady is nutso
Why do you say that, other than you are rooting for Iran?
Is that you Kamala toe?
I’m disappointed the press briefings aren’t more controlled and rude, obnoxious questioners are not tolerated….put on notice they will not be allowed back if they cannot show professionalism. Especially in the Oval Office, post-VIP visitors meetings with POTUS are embarrassing.
I’ve noticed that several of the Secretaries are learning from POTUS and calling these child-like reporters out to their faces right at the moment, such as this morning.
Personally, I like the “take a number” method…every person attending draws a number and they are called to standup, identify themselves and ask their question, continuing until the reserved time is over…very much like they do in the town halls….this is especially critical for those Oval Office media sessions with foreign dignitaries.
Compared to his last term, they’re not as rabid. But yes, we’ve always thought they should be much more respectful.
They reflect the demon culture that is fighting for power.
There is a pattern of deception by the Iranians that should be obvious to anyone with eyes.
We are not enriching uranium – lie
We are not building atom bombs – lie
We are not building intermediate range missiles – lie
We will abide by the terms of the ceasefire – lie
In the Koran Big Al brags about what a great liar he is and instructs his followers to lie as needed. Of course the declared father of lies is Satan.
problem is, the President of Iran whom Trump is dealing with does not control the IRGC. IRGC to him they will not honor a cease fire unless they want to, which they do not want to. According to their constitution the President has now power to do anything it seems, just the IRGC and the Supreme Leader who is either dead or in a coma. Trump really has no one to negotiate with. Interesting read here. https://houseofsaud.com/pezeshkian-accused-irgc-commanders-ceasefire-enforceability/
Why the hell is Iranian lies a deception being regurgitated in US media cess-pool… presspool?
Iran said X, ok we know Iran has a long devout history of lying. The press just seems to forget it as long as the current lie out of Iran harms PDJT, our military, or countries in the Middle East.
Despicable.
Looks like we say BYE BYE TO NATO
President Trump will be discussing WITHDRAWING THE US FROM NATO this afternoon with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte “They were tested, and they FAILED,” Trump said It’s time. NATO needs US. We don’t need them!
