I find it truly odd. Statements by Christ about Law and Scripture, relayed to us in the conflicting Gospels and even statements by Paul are used to claim that these Scriptures, written after Christ lived, are inerrant despite said conflicts.
We get this false logic by reasoning backwards. We have the Bible. We believe the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. So something said before the New Testament was written, but included in the New Testament proves the New Testament is the inerrant Word of God.
But what did Christ mean when talking about the Law in Mathew 5:18? (And did Paul disagree?) What did Christ mean when talking about Scriptures in John 10:35?
As far as we know, the books of the Law (5 books of Moses) and the books of the Prophets were set before Jesus time, but there were different versions of those books, even different versions of the 5 books of Moses.
We also know that the books of the Writings weren’t set until after Christ. Even after most books of the New Testament had been written, the rabbis were disputing books in the Writings.
But that doesn’t mean all people in Judea at the time of Christ agreed that the Prophets or the Writings were Scripture.
Here is (to me) a fascinating discussion of these things, including how Jesus argued with people based upon what they accepted as Scripture, not using clearer Scriptures that the person he was talking to did not accept.

I am Protestant and learned a lot. Such as having different Septuagint versions and that even the Old Testament choices of books were influenced by Jewish VS Christian mutual enmity.
And even I find it ironic that we late comers who threw out accepted Scriptures make arguments that these decisions were all made millennia before we did so.

The military dogs are so wonderful and intelligent.
When the “vegetable”, traitor brought our troops home from Afganastan and left quite a few dogs, I tried to locate a source so I could adopt one of the dogs that people had gone in and rescued. Could not find any sources. It broke my heart, the way that whole operation was handled.
I remember, Pat. I felt sick. And here I am choking back what I’d really like to say about him and the subhumans who controlled everything in his foul name. People, dogs, it didn’t matter. Carcasses without souls.

One of my most treasured literary finds at Half Price Books one lazy afternoon was a mint condition, portfolio-sized book of everything Larsen ever drew or published, from simple early sketches to the cartoons which made me laugh out loud. He had yet to announce that after a disappointing (for all those who appreciated his clever output) retirement, he would pick up his pen once more…and I pounced on it.
Same for a similar huge book of Norman Rockwell’s wonderful legacy of an era of America that we of a certain age took for granted, now history. That sound you hear is probably the biggest involuntary sigh I’ve ever uttered…

They are,dear sir. I couldn’t believe what was I was looking at. The books first (on a bottom shelf which no one ever pays attention to it seems), their prices, or their condition.
But the other thought which embedded itself while I stood there for a split second before I hastily grabbed them was that so much time has passed that there are generations which would not understand their value…not price…and would not appreciate what finds these books were.
I’ll admit that turning the pages on the Norman Rockwell makes me melancholy for what was. Doing the same with Gary Larsen cheers me up 😊👍🏻

Phew! That was exhilarating!
These are over the top today, Bets! I’ve been away for a bit. Our son was hospitalized with a serious condition last week. Thank the Lord 🙏 , he came home yesterday. The hospital is a 3 hour round trip (one of the drawbacks of living in the boonies!), so by the time the necessary fur kid responsibilities were discharged and the hospital run done. this old gink was tuckered out!
Somehow, dear Corny, I knew something was amiss…and as I am prone to making up scenarios which I hope are wrong, so wrong, I am sorry that this time my fears were not. I remember three years ago when Chris was suddenly ordered to go to the ER and the two surgeries he underwent. We never saw them coming. And so I am all empathy and sympathy for your son, his family, and you and Lloyd for what I well know was distressing and it seems as if came without warning.
My drive was only twenty minutes or so to the hospital, and in that short journey, my mind wouldn’t stand still. I can only imagine three hours both ways for you. And yes, older age does not come on its own. Bless, sis. You must be shattered, as we always said in Wales when every bit of energy we may have had is drained from us.
I am so relieved he is home where surely his recovery will surely be faster. I pray so…
As someone accurately said, hospitals are no places to be unwell. Now, lets have no more of episodes like this!!! Tell him you are still his loving mother and that he has his orders 😉😌🙏🏻😘
Thank you, sweet Bets. I will tell him – though he is 55 – a very young 55 – he is a very kind thoughtful person, and always my youngest. He handles adversity better than I, with an attitude that did not come from me (and Certainly not the wasband – thanks again, dear Woo!)
He’s one of those people who has always had to work harder, struggle more, in order to achieve- yet has.
He, through circumstances, has become the primary care for his mother-in-law, who has very severe Alzheimers. She has missed him profoundly though he spoke with her every day.
As you can imagine, I am very proud of him, and giving thanks where it belongs for his recovery.

So he has a huge and loving heart and a deep sense of care for other’s ills…just like all three of mine but with my son perhaps particularly because he, too, received kindness when it mattered. Afternoon, dear Bet. As always its very good to see your kind words. Just getting onto our little limb after a fretful day (couple actually) obsessing over my taxes. Two of my more problematical cognitive defects are poor organization and dealing with numbers, both of which dramatically affect me during tax time.
I’ve double checked everything and—no surprise—found tax data that somehow didn’t get included where it needed to be. I “think” I’ve got everything collated, an errant 1099-R found where I’d mislaid it . . .
My trusty tax/estate attorney is rock solid and very tolerant. Alas, the same can’t be said for his assistant (that’s me). So. I “think” I’m ready to give my tax data to him. Little ‘Tink, my ever observant watch-kitty, sencing my anxiety, has been climbing into my lap more than usual. Good kitty. 🙂
😁 !!! As long as your reliable and patient tax attorney doesn’t give you the heave ho…of course none of this fretting and anxiety would be necessary if the tax code weren’t so complicated. I needed a third accounting course when I was at UT, and some wit told me, since I despised accounting, that tax would be easiest. Which was an out and out lie. I never worked so hard in any course there as I did on that one. Came out with a B in it and counted myself grateful. As it was, it served me well over the decades. Ours are done and were quite simple. And now we wait to see if I’ve made a mess of them.

The FBI was hosting weekly calls with big tech companies prior to the contested and notorious 2020 election, where they were demanding specific stories and comments be censored.
A big part of the reason the government is likely settling this case, in addition to the country’s new leadership from President Trump, is that the case was set to start discovery so that the parties could get a better view of the size and scope of the censorship systems.
And we know that Twitter was programmed to enable all this Censorship and propaganda. And Musk has never claimed X is ant different.

Silly question. Vending machines of any type in men’s rooms rarely are functional. I usually feel grateful to find basic basic bathroom supplies, TP, soap, paper towels or working blowers. I don’t even give vending machines a second glance. Are lady’s rooms any better?

I see what you are saying, but reasonably one would understand that the argument is being made (for which bathroom) regarding the “front part” between all of our legs (so, hemorrhoids dont count 🙂 ).
I dont pay attn to vending machines in restrooms, so I cant offer on that.
The ladies could have ten time the rooms and would still take twice as long to get out of the ladies room as any guy. The Green Bay Packers increased the number of ladies rooms and toilets a few years back by a lot (dubbed potty parity), and the lines are just as long during a game as before the increase in toilets.
Of course I have seen guy urinating in the sinks during busy games. The ladies don’t do that, it would be much harder for them.

Homebirth Midwives taught me how to read a drug/vaccine manufacturer’s package insert, and chart my own pregnancy care, and asked how I wanted things to be… every prenatal & postpartum visit – and the birth – was a house call*.
I was empowered; because Homebirth Midwives are actually holistic educators & partners with win-win-win goals.
Whole different paradigm.
Results matter.
The rub is… we consumers see the technocratic-birth circumstances – and the results – as a problem,
the obstetrics profiteers see the same circumstances as their dearly beloved bread, butter, top-o-the-food-chain-status, & lifestyle that they cherish – a status quo they need to maintain & protect; Fischbein said it:
“tyrants never willingly give up control”.
What birthing women have in obstetrics-managed-childbirth “care” is not care… they’re in a hostage situation,
not a partnership.
The Midwives who have Dr. Fischbein as a partner are very very fortunate – as he is equally fortunate to have partnership with them.
They are the perfect example of a benevolent childbirth paradigm; equal with different roles… as it should be.
*too long a story, but twice there was no Homebirth midwife available to us, so I took prenatal visits at a family practice clinic that allowed my other children to attend rather than from OBs who wouldn’t, & then birthed unattended at home.

Clicking around, I came across the term “dead tow”…which is, per Brave: A dead tow is a maritime term defining a situation where a ship has no propulsion or steerage of its own, or where its propulsion and steering systems are not in working order.
Back in the olden days of Dad’s tugboat career……there would be an occasional “dead tow” thru The Canal. He loved and hated them…it could turn out to be a 24 hour shift…good for the paycheck…but very stressfull.

The Oklahoma State House on Tuesday passed a bipartisan bill that would make it legal to use the decomposed and ground-up remains of human corpses as soil fertilizer in the state.
Besides not honoring our ancestors like every ancient culture did, isn’t this increasing the chance of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, the equivalent of mad cow disease?

…the widow of the deceased firefighter, who died in a fire when a floor collapsed, has gone into labor, today…she was pregnant…the funeral had been set for Friday.
That fire? Set by an arsonist…

COMMENTARY FOR ISAIAH 64:8
The church prays that God’s power may be manifested. (1-5) A confession of sin, and afflictions bewailed. (6-12)
6-12 The people of God, in affliction, confess and bewail their sins, owning themselves unworthy of his mercy. Sin is that abominable thing which the Lord hates. Our deeds, whatever they may seem to be, if we think to merit by them at God’s hand, are as rags, and will not cover us; filthy rags, and will but defile us. Even our few good works in which there is real excellence, as fruits of the Spirit, are so defective and defiled as done by us, that they need to be washed in the fountain open for sin and uncleanness. It bodes ill when prayer is kept back. To pray, is by faith to take hold of the promises the Lord has made of his good-will to us, and to plead them; to take hold of him, earnestly begging him not to leave us; or soliciting his return. They brought their troubles upon themselves by their own folly. Sinners are blasted, and then carried away, by the wind of their own iniquity; it withers and then ruins them. When they made themselves as an unclean thing, no wonder that God loathed them. Foolish and careless as we are, poor and despised, yet still Thou art our Father. It is the wrath of a Father we are under, who will be reconciled; and the relief our case requires is expected only from him. They refer themselves to God. They do not say, “Lord, rebuke us not,” for that may be necessary; but, “Not in thy displeasure.” They state their lamentable condition. See what ruin sin brings upon a people; and an outward profession of holiness will be no defence against it. God’s people presume not to tell him what he shall say, but their prayer is, Speak for the comfort and relief of thy people. How few call upon the Lord with their whole hearts, or stir themselves to lay hold upon him! God may delay for a time to answer our prayers, but he will, in the end, answer those who call on his name and hope in his mercy.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Evening Prayer For Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Heavenly Father, as I lie down to sleep tonight, I pray that You would guard my sleeping and protect my mind from wandering thoughts and unnecessary planning. Teach me to wait for Your perfect timing and not to try to plan my future in my own strength.
Lord, I know that You have scheduled every day of my life. Help me to trust You in all things and rely on You to lead me along the straight path and guide me in the direction that You would have me to go.

They did not do surgery today because her BP was not high enough. Plan on doing so tomorrow morning. Say the antibiotics seem to be working.
I have not gone to go see her because I overdid it when I went last time and got some bleeding from my incision line. So much of the last two days I have spent on my back taking it easy.
