If you read material translated from other languages, to you get frustrated when the translator leaves some word untranslated?
I’ve read a whole bunch where the translator arrogantly declares the reader should know those words.

A long time ago when I got hired at work, we moved to another town. I was working night shift and usually got home around 4am. My wife and son were asleep, I was still wound up from the stress of moving as fast as I could on the assembly line, and needed to wind down.
We had no critters and were renting a duplex, so we could not have critters. I had, however, seen someone’s cat a few days before, which I tried to get to be friendly.
So there I wuz at 4am after work, coming in the door when I looked at my neighbor’s garage under a light and saw a critter moving around.
COOL!
I figured I’d get that cat to be my buddy. So I slowly walked that direction softly calling “heeeeeeeeere kitty kitty kitty” trying to be loud enough to be heard by the cat but quiet enough not to wake anyone. I kept getting closer, and closer until finally I realized something was a little “off”.
It did not move like a regular cat.
I got closer and then realized. It was NOT a cat. It WAS a SKUNK!
Nope.
Nope nope.
Nopedy nope nope!
Well, I’ve had 2 pet skunks. Named Tabu and Chanel.

Woke to the sound of “scuffling” around 2 am one morning. It was a baby skunk who had entered the house through a kitty door. Poor thing was scared to death (can’t imagine with 8 cats chasing him!) and had already sprayed his wad. Took about 2 hours to throw a towel over him and let him loose outdoors.
Cute little things, but, oh my – the scent lasts forever.
Once experienced, never forgotten…because if they let loose, their scent does indeed linger. It has been decades since I had the pleasure, but you know? I still remember it.

I’ve found the best cleaner and “desmeller” is peroxide. Can’t be used on everything, but works quite well, even if it does temporarily turn black labs chocolate! Ask me how I know. 🙃
I believe it. Tomato juice is what I’ve always been told takes care of the problem.
Tomato juice and baking soda combined in warm water knocks the scent out.
We live on a farm and all of our dogs have learned through experience what the skunk is all about. The worst was my Great Dane pup who enthusiastically ran towards the skunk and got sprayed. She backed off in surprise, thought about it, and then decided to go back towards the skunk to investigate this new phenomenon in more detail. To my absolute horror I watched as she chased the skunk right under my brand new Dodge Ram 2500 truck: there from a protected position the frightened skunk fully discharged !!!

The very upset dog high-tailed it to the front door – now looking for comfort and solace ! It was a straightforward enough task to get the dog in the tomato juice and baking soda combination — but the truck was another story — and I am a pilot and had to drive to work !
Hint: the car wash just doesn’t cut it. I seriously considered some kind of witness protection program.

What gets me is that the smell actually transforms into something even more vile over time. Made the mistake of washing one of my pups in our bathroom tub – stunk for weeks.
I used Dawn, peroxide, and bicarbonate. Worked pretty well.

Best cat I ever had was a stray. He walked into the bowling alley when someone opened the door about 1 AM and it was -10 outside. His ears and tail where partially frozen off. I took him home and to the vet the next day who said he was a well cared for cat, had had operations and teeth extracted. We looked for an owner and never found one. so we named him Lucky and kept him. He was not declawed but never clawed anything and never bothered anything. I had him until he lost control of his bowels and bladder and I had to put him down, which broke my heart.
Some day I will tell you about another cat I owned I called ‘Jenny the Psycho Cat From Hell’.
What a gentleman he was, Jake. I know it broke your heart, just as ours did when the time came for all of our Welsh barn cats who found their way to us. The thing we told ourselves which made our grief at losing them less severe was that whatever else, we gave them kitty lives they would have had no other place.
And they did…my gosh they did. Just as for your lovely moggy whom God steered your way that bitter cold night. Angels can do more…and I hope there is a peace in knowing it, dear sir 💕

Good morning Dear Betsy. This was my first big laugh of the day. Boy have I been there and done that! Recently too.
Your Caturday images are wonderful, and have brought me giggles, snorts and belly laughs! As always, I can certainly relate to many of them these past 8 months! I really believe you receive divine assistance finding these images every week.
Not sure how I should understand this, but Cleo and Maizie both will nibble on my fingers when I pet them. Maizie will jump up on the desk and nibble at my knuckles while I move the mouse around when I am on the computer. All these years of pets and I have never had a cat do this. Anyone out there know the reason they do this?
Very cold here this morning. Thankfully the sun is shining which makes it some what bearable. Really had to bundle up to feed Blue this morning, and made sure the bird feeders were full. I think the severe cold warning is ongoing until around noon today.
I will certainly welcome Spring this year. It seems every year the cold bothers me more. Guess it is a senior thing!

So little nibblers? Almost like they would do with their mom when nursing? We have had cats that will simulate suckling on our forearms, all the while paddling…sometimes without tiny murder mittens, but many times with. Ouch!! But we’ve always grimaced and endured, until we can’t…what we lovers of cats will put up with!! 😂
We are the same…and I am certain you are correct about feeling the cold increasing with our years. My husband particularly is susceptible to it more than I am, which is surprising to me because he was the little British lad who wore short trousers to school, no matter how cold it got. Then as an adult worked in stone cold garages repairing/maintaining the coaches he drove for his firm’s school contracts as well as tours on the Continent in the dead of winter.
Same…birds fed. I know they’re feeling it this morning. Twenty degrees my weather thingy said, feels like six. My view being that if it FEELS like six, then, by golly, it IS six!!! I have spoken!

I did this many times when I dairy farmed MANY years ago. The cats would sit beside you and look like they were going to die of thirst if they did not get a few squirts of fresh milk! This picture brings back many memories – lots of great cats and good Holstein cows. Made my own butter and many flavors of ice cream.

Moses taught the people all that, and that only, which God commanded him to teach. Thus Christ’s ministers are to teach his churches all he has commanded, neither more nor less, #Mt 28:20|. The fear of God in the heart will be the most powerful principle of obedience. It is highly desirable that not we only, but our children, and our children’s children, may fear the Lord. Religion and righteousness advance and secure the prosperity of any people.
4,5 Here is a brief summary of religion, containing the first principles of faith and obedience. Jehovah our God is the only living and true God; he only is God, and he is but One God. Let us not desire to have any other. The three-fold mention of the Divine names, and the plural number of the word translated God, seem plainly to intimate a Trinity of persons, even in this express declaration of the unity of the Godhead. Happy those who have this one Lord for their God. It is better to have one fountain than a thousand cisterns; one all-sufficient God than a thousand insufficient friends. This is the first and great commandment of God’s law, that we love him; and that we do all parts of our duty to him from a principle of love; My son, give me thine heart. We are to love God with all our heart, and soul, and might. That is, 1. With a sincere love; not in word and tongue only, but inwardly in truth. 2. With a strong love. He that is our All, must have our all, and none but he. 3. With a superlative love; we must love God above any creature whatever, and love nothing but what we love for him. 4. With an intelligent love. To love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, we must see good cause to love him. 5. With an entire love; he is ONE, our hearts must be united in his love. Oh that this love of God may be shed abroad in our hearts!

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
