Many people may not know that you can ask a rescue shelter to put your name on a list if you have a specific breed you would like to adopt. I have friends who have done just that successfully.
We just take whatever God decides to send – works for us!
Sweeney was already going on 7 and had been returned twice to the shelter when we brought him home.
Fortunately, he lived another 6 years, fairly unusual for a mastiff. Miss him.

Thanks – he was a character, and totally devoted to us from the first moment. Someone had wrapped wire around his neck which left permanent scars – and just for good measure chopped off his tail. 😢

First of all, get this: A-I has already quit operating as-advertised. It has lost the “I” part. A-I does its thing by rapidly combing through the Internet to evaluate and seize information that you request. Increasingly, A-I colonizes the Internet with second-hand, third-hand, and so forth A-I-generated information. The more territory A-I seizes on the Web, and the more it trains itself on recursive feedbacks of its own garbage, the more distorted the output gets. As that occurs, A-I becomes increasingly abstracted from Reality, which is exactly what happens when a person goes insane. So, expect an exponential rise in incorrect content that would, in theory, become a pretty serious problem when you ask A-I to run things like systems we depend on, the electric grid, harvesting crops, warfare. . . .
Secondly, as that process runs, and probably before it gets very far, A-I looks like it will wreck the financial system, which, in turn, would crater the economy of everyday life — the ability of people to earn a living, buy stuff, support children, get food, and stay out of the rain. Zillions of dollars are being invested in A-I now and lately it is mainly what drives the capital markets. So far, alas, return on that investment is scant — actually, negative. The situation might never improve, and as the recognition hits, look out below. The only question is whether that happens before the central banks destroy the world’s currencies with money-printing.
One A-I application, robotaxi services such as Waymo, have never turned a profit. Will they ever? Doesn’t look good. Notice, too, that the elimination of cab-drivers means X-number fewer humans making a living to buy stuff (presumably made by other people in other jobs soon to be replaced by robots). Of course, that’s the self-replicating problem with all applied A-I in every field of employment. The more jobs eliminated, the fewer customers for anything. Please don’t tell me that guaranteed basic income fixes that problem.

Man, with all his vaunted technology, cannot manufacture soil! The process takes too long.
Man cannot manufacture healthy food from basic materials either. Food must come from natural processes also. All the fake “food” is toxic. Fake meats are inflammatory, and insect protein is full of indigestible chitin, not to mention parasites.
Work is necessary for purpose in life. Only by working the soil can we grow food. This is an inescapable fact. Each of us has gifts from God so that we can provide goods and services to others. A lot of effort has been expended to make people think work is slavery, and to create a culture of dependency.
When you take someone’s work away, you take away his purpose and self respect.
AI and technocracy are fundamentally anti-human.
For proof AI produces garbage searches, I just tried an experiment.
I have a rimfire benchrest rifle built by Bill Calfee in Borden, Indiana. It was once his personal rifle.
In that specific discipline of shooting, when it came to building record winning rifles, Bill was the king. Nobody will ever match his record.
Bill died last year. I’d known him since 2008. He was a friend.
Bill built many rifles on many different actions. The rifle I have was highly customized to increase accuracy, and used a Suhl 150 action that he modified. A lot.
I googled “Calfee Suhl” to see what results AI would produce. They were different than when I did it a month ago.
I did it again sitting here at lunch at work.
The results were different from what I literally just read.
I did it again, more than ten times, and while a lot of info sorta stayed the same, it was different EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Including a lot of stuff that was flat out FACTUALLY WRONG.
No…….I don’t trust AI.
Try this experiment if you have subject matter you know a lot about, perhaps it will give you results like I got.
And we are supposed to trust this garbage for medical issues….

Good advice. Husband and I worked in the medical industrial complex – I’m going to try your experiment on a few subjects we know our way around.
I imagine it will be fairly sobering.
Perhaps the stuff I was talking about was minute and specific enough to give a small enough sample to catch the inconsistencies and changes, I don’t know.
I’ve not tried it repeatedly on a lot of other topics.
I have tried it regarding specific classic target rifles where I know the facts, and AI overviews were demonstrably WRONG.
If you get the chance to try it, please post what you find out.

I’m sure you’re right – being very specific should be more revealing.
Been noticing for awhile and that’s part of why it’s so dangerous. In medical it’s often using falsified records or flat out wrong records so I already knew that medical records are a health hazard due to how sloppy they’ve become but now with AI having god status and employees forced to obey – seriously they’re just like the Nazi Germans just doing their job. They no longer even make eye contact because they know that what they’re doing is wrong and they have to dehumanize the patient in trying to save their own humanity. I wonder when if ever they will ever come apon a patient that they feel morally compelled to save against the AI’s wrong diagnosis what will they do? It’s obvious by their behavior that medical workers have been threatened to obey the AI at any cost. I’ve already experienced AI making life threatening decisions that were wrong in any sense unless you believe that seniors are all useless eaters that need to be done away with at the first opportunity as a means of salvaging the economy. No dignity for seniors or anyone if the AI God has decided that the rest are better off without you. Yes I’m tickled by some aspects of AI like the news today that a candidate’s opponent refused to debate so he had an AI programmed with all her public information and debated the AI. Sure I love it because it’s insulting to take up space on a ballot and be secretive and should automatically disqualify the candidate ((just me.). But despite these intriguing and possibly humorous solutions from AI it’s extremely dangerous, life threatening even.
I have lots more observations about AI but no time except I wanted to ask readers if the AI in your life is jumping in to “help” uninvited and not obeying commands to stop? Have these incidents been more problematic than helpful? Cost you more time and labor?

A psalm of praise.
– We are here stirred up to praise God. Praise God for his sanctuary, and the privileges we enjoy by having it among us; praise him because of his power and glory in the firmament. Those who praise the Lord in heaven, behold displays of his power and glory which we cannot now conceive. But the greatest of all his mighty acts is known in his earthly sanctuary. The holiness and the love of our God are more displayed in man’s redemption, than in all his other works. Let us praise our God and Saviour for it. We need not care to know what instruments of music are mentioned. Hereby is meant that in serving God we should spare no cost or pains. PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Melissa is officially a CAT 5. The third one during this season in the Atlantic Basin. Still moving West at 3 mph according to the NHC but moving slower according to some of those actively tracking the storm.
For it to follow the track over Jamaica that the NHC and the major model ensembles are projecting it has to start it’s right turn to the north now and turn on a dime.
Though Melissa is a medium large storm and is nearly perfectly formed at this time it’s actual CAT 5 force wind field and hurricane force wind field are relatively tiny for a tropical cyclone of this size.
The NHC and the major model ensembles still show the projected track after the turn north being far enough east that even S. Florida will only see a minimal impact from this storm. It is projected to not be a major hurricane anymore when it is at it’s closest to Florida.
However if the track is correct GITMO will get a direct hit.

Jamaica has a long history of extreme hurricane activity: 1722, 1744, 1780 … every 22-26 years, which is coincidentally (or not) related to solar cycles.
Intense hurricanes in Atlantic favored on down slope from peak of solar cycle, where we are now.

Now Melissa has wobbled south! Already west of the projected point in the track where it was supposed to north. The further west it moves before starting the recurve the better for Jamaica I think.

The further west the better for Kingston! If it followed the original track, making landfall about the middle of the south coast the storm surge at Kingston would have been epic because it would have been on the side of the storm with winds pushing the water into the bay.
