Indeed. One of the misconceptions, I believe, is the popular understanding that the translation from the Hebrew by the 72 scholars (the Septuagint translators) who some say miraculously produced the same work, is proof positive that the translation/s were/are correct. This is not the case from the Jewish/Hebrew perspective. A detailed explanation from their point of view can be found here

Again, whether the translators were “forced” is somewhat misunderstood. Google Ai will give you this – “No, the Septuagint translators were not forced; according to the legend from the
Letter of Aristeas, they were invited by King Ptolemy II Philadelphus of Egypt to translate the Hebrew Bible into Greek, and they completed the task in a miraculous fashion, working independently but producing identical translations. The translation was undertaken because Greek was becoming increasingly common, making the Hebrew Bible accessible to more people in Alexandria’s large Jewish community.” However it’s always wise to listen to all “sides”. Invariable there is always truth to be found – you collect enough, it’s like you’re stopping time.

But, I will tell you that since we switched to Starlink, we have far fewer outages, no limits on data, and it is less expensive. So far, about 6 months in – zero complaints.
Good to hear Soaz, my internet came on for more than the 15ish minutes that my security system connects and then shuts down, up @ about midnight here and was up until 5am down again.
Went up/down 4 more times, at least I got thru to amazon about a package a 3rd party seller sent to my PO Box by Fedex that was either never delivered to the Post office or someone sticky fingered my 6.5 qt air fryer as no notice was ever delivered to my box nor could they find it when I inquired, been 10+ days of looking for P.O..
I reordered as soon as my credit went thru the system & applied to my account since it was low due to Prime renewing on 21st. Found a new option to send to UPS store as a default instead…. much closer & no line to speak of, line in post office for package pickups is now about an hour on average you know cause the gvt is just so efficient in they way they do things. /s
I would guess AMZN does 100+K daily in this town now days, one of those amazon “stores” or is it a pickup locker would put a big crimp in the usefulness of having a post office here.

The closest town to us is a retirement community – the line at the Post Office is always out the door.
Fortunately, our little whistle stop has a contract post office- only open 4 hours a day (no weekends) but…….never a line and like “Cheers” everybody knows your name!
We used to have one of those too.. lots of PO Boxes… closed by bush though supposedly IDK saw it and was turned into a restaurant location by someone… I looked at the space after it folded to potentially move mine there but building was bought and all “evicted” so good that I didn’t move… is now a local government building.
As for cheers…. most people know me just from being in restaurant biz for 14 years.

Scottish inventor, mechanical engineer and chemist (steam engine), dies at 83
Biography: James Watt started his career making mathematical instruments in Glasgow. By 1757 he was working at the University of Glasgow. While working on a Newcomen steam engine Watt had the idea of a separate condenser that would vastly improve the steam engine’s efficiency.
Entering into a partnership with British inventor John Roebuck, Watt built a test engine and filed for a patent. Birmingham industrialist Matthew Boulton latter took over Roebuck’s interest and the two formed a successful company, building pumps for the mining industry.
Watt went on to make several improvements to his steam engine, invent a rotary motion, his sun-and-planet gear, and later a pressure gauge. The commercial engines that resulted were much in demand by paper and cotton mills and were to sit at the heart of the Industrial revolution.

American cartoonist (creator of Scrooge McDuck), dies at 99
Biography: Carl Barks was an American cartoonist and writer known for his work in creating many of the classic Disney characters, most notably the rich and adventurous Scrooge McDuck.
Barks began his career at Disney Studios in the 1930s, where he worked as an inbetweener, a person who creates intermediate frames in the animation process. However, his true talent shone when he started working as a comic book artist for Disney’s Donald Duck stories in 1942.
While at Disney, Barks created Scrooge McDuck, the world’s richest duck and Donald Duck’s eccentric uncle. The character first appeared in Christmas on Bear Mountain (1947) and quickly became a fan favorite. Barks also created other memorable characters such as Gladstone Gander and the Beagle Boys.
After retiring from regular comic work in 1966, Barks embarked on a career in fine art, painting scenes from his comic stories featuring the Duck family. 10 minute experience in other worldly experience: I am on porch, and sitting and hanging out with cat, after just taking out the garbage. I’m sitting back and relaxing. I look out into the darkness around 5:30 am … can see the dark lawn/trees. A non-physical being appears about 40 feet away, about 20 feet tall, … whitish/ghostly, and has contorted angry expression, she comes closer, and I say “hi, how is it going”, and this ghostly figure starts using foul language and wants nothing to do with me, … compared to this ghost, “I’m maybe 5-6 feet , and not threatening appearing. I told this being “if you act tough, there are always bigger beings then you, that will mess with you … like you are appearing. Again, the ghost started again using foul language and having distain for me.
I asked this being, do you have any other “forms” you can turn into. And this ghost stopped and then did change their form, now this being turned into a 3-4 foot little girl. I said “you know you no longer have a body, or you know you are dead, right. Inner speech is different in that realm, but we do understand each other. Now the little girl said she was scared in this place, and didn’t want other beings to hurt her or take advantage of her. I told her to PRAY to GOD and ask GOD to help her, and ask GOD to send help to her. … Stuff like that … and she started to relax, … and she turned into more fine mist, … and sort of floated away from me, … slowing going over houses and trees gliding away.
I had brief memory when I first was in this astral plane, I fought everyone, and was at lowest level of astral world, everybody against everybody, … and we all took shapes that did look pretty monsterous. It was many decades ago or me. Many levels to move up in … but I remember when I laided down that lowest “body” in lowest astral plane, I was scared, because it meant “stop fighting”, and just allowing myself to “let go”. Scary at first.
I encounter many “astral beings” not looking so good, many times a day or week , or newly “dead” people, … so I just am “nice” to them … however they look or what they say.
Physical world stuff is “mirror” of what you put “out”. Hard for us humans to “get that”. That is all I need to say in this post.

I can remember when no one put rings in their noses or belly buttons, dyed their hair purple or green, covered their bodies with tattoos, only took pictures on special occasions and while on vacation trips, never took pictures of themselves unless they were a bit tipsy or acting clownish, wrote letters to and happily received them from relatives and friends, gave hand signals out of the drivers window (left turn, right turn, slow/stop), put on their finest Sunday-go-to-meeting clothes for Sunday-go-to-meeting, and slept like a baby with the sound of rain on a tin roof.

COMMENTARY FOR PSALMS 62
“David’s confidence in God. (1-7) No trust to be put in worldly things. (8-12)
1-7 We are in the way both of duty and comfort, when our souls wait upon God; when we cheerfully give up ourselves, and all our affairs, to his will and wisdom; when we leave ourselves to all the ways of his providence, and patiently expect the event, with full satisfaction in his goodness. See the ground and reason of this dependence. By his grace he has supported me, and by his providence delivered me. He only can be my Rock and my salvation; creatures are nothing without him, therefore I will look above them to him. Trusting in God, the heart is fixed. If God be for us, we need not fear what man can do against us. David, having put his confidence in God, foresees the overthrow of his enemies. We have found it good to wait upon the Lord, and should charge our souls to have such constant dependence upon him, as may make us always easy. If God will save my soul, I may well leave everything else to his disposal, knowing all shall turn to my salvation. And as David’s faith in God advances to an unshaken stedfastness, so his joy in God improves into a holy triumph. Meditation and prayer are blessed means of strengthening faith and hope.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

I’m at a loss to understand the outrage over all of the GoFundMe accounts for an Indian truck driver arrested for killing 3 people in FL.
Their deaths cannot be undone. The only chance the family has of retribution is prison & confiscation of every penny that was raised on his behalf.
The money will not make them whole because that’s impossible. But it can certainly give them some level of retribution & satisfaction to take it from this dirtbag.
The stories I am seeing about mercy from the court by “The Indian Community” make me SMDH. 😔

Good morning everyone.
The end is near according to two different HOSPICE nurses. Niki will not take her meds. She spits them out. So she is on injections of morphine. She doesn’t recognize her mother anymore and got violent and hit her yesterday.
Sherry is showing the same inner toughness she displayed when I was deployed or when I got the alert calls at o’dark thirty not knowing if it was deployment or an exercise or just for a piss test. She is a rock.
So sorry to hear rah…praying for you all.

Yes I have. Those that say a single guy should not marry a divorcee with two kids are morons. You marry the one you love and that your confident will be there for you and you will want to be there for them FOREVER!
I married her. Two months later I got her into quarters at Ft. Devens. A month later I was alerted for deployment to Lebanon and went into isolation with my team and another for planning and prep for the mission.
While I was gone a tech at the Army hospital who was in on my predeployment physical and thus knew I was deployed, started stalking her. Two team mates left behind protected her and the guy was caught.
She handled it all despite being dumped in an unfamiliar place with totally new rules and norms.
And when I got back there she was dressed for the occasion to meet me at the airport.
She went on to be a key supporter for the younger wives of team members. So much so that when we were getting ready to return to the States my team sergeant presented a German beer Stein to her as a present for her service.
She has supported me in all my endeavors, only asking that I love and appreciate her and what she does. Something that is impossible for me to do to the extent she deserves.
Come Sept 3rd it will be 42 wonderful years she has been my bride.

A news article yesterday about the rise of motive-free violence is described by NYC psychotherapist, Jonathan Alpert, as “destruction for its own sake … violence born of emptiness”. Only a few minutes later, I was deciding which Bible book to read and went right to Jeremiah & 2:5: “thus says the Lord: What fault did your fathers find in me that they withdrew from me, Went after empty idols, and became empty themselves?” Both the article and Jeremiah 2:5 also reminded me of the near-death experience testimony of college professor Howard Storm where he describes such violence in hell. As a country and world, we need to try to reverse this trajectory.

I don’t really believe in karma but dang it there is something in the nature of things that hates hypocrisy and seeks to return the bubble to normal.
