Two of the scariest places to be when you hear loud thunder is above the tree line on a mountain or out on body of water in an aluminum boat.
Where I grew up as a kid we had a chain link fence around our back yard. During a storm lightening struck our fence and welded the gates shut. Dad wasn’t really happy about it but he got all the gates unwelded and usable again.
Lightning hit the rotating TV antenna of our house at 3 AM the morning of my high school graduation. Slagged the antenna motor, slagged the control on top of the TV (charred the little rug it sat on but did NOT catch it on fire), fried every fluorescent ballast in the house, took out the switches for the sump pump and the hi-fi. We had to have an electrician out at 8 AM on a Sunday morning.
I have hated thunderstorms (close up) ever since. If they’re miles away they’re cool, and I like learning how lightning works, but I don’t like it close.

That dear girl is living the best childhood imaginable. No TV. No phones. No tablets. No brain rot. Just hours outdoors getting into all kinds of “trouble”. Who knows where she found that little squirrel but the delight must have been great when it turned out to be friendly.
Parents who have to have eyes on their kids 24/7 do their children a huge disservice. They will never feel free.

Astor was also involved in real estate, most notably building the Astoria Hotel in New York City in 1897. This hotel was next to the Waldorf Hotel, and together the complex came to be known as the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

COMMENTARY FOR JOHN 10
“The parable of the good shepherd. (1-5) Christ the Door. (6-9) Christ the good Shepherd. (10-18) The Jews’ opinion concerning Jesus. (19-21) His discourse at the feast of dedication. (22-30) The Jews attempt to stone Jesus. (31-38) He departs from Jerusalem. (39-42)1-5 Here is a parable or similitude, taken from the customs of the East, in the management of sheep. Men, as creatures depending on their Creator, are called the sheep of his pasture. The church of God in the world is as a sheep-fold, exposed to deceivers and persecutors. The great Shepherd of the sheep knows all that are his, guards them by his providence, guides them by his Spirit and word, and goes before them, as the Eastern shepherds went before their sheep, to set them in the way of his steps. Ministers must serve the sheep in their spiritual concerns. The Spirit of Christ will set before them an open door. The sheep of Christ will observe their Shepherd, and be cautious and shy of strangers, who would draw them from faith in him to fancies about him.
10-18 Christ is a good Shepherd; many who were not thieves, yet were careless in their duty, and by their neglect the flock was much hurt. Bad principles are the root of bad practices. PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

I have since learned that there was not a novel illness and that viruses are not stable, transmissible, disease-causing substances.

Sure enough they were in my china cabinet! I’m assuming they are fiesta (despite lack of ‘stamp’) because of their iconic shape, as described and shown on website.

it’s fun to revisit the fiestaware in this conversation. On a sidenote, my friend who turned me on to ‘recognizing’ fiestaware, it is her birthday today, although she passed away seven years ago. It is a nice tribute and fitting to be talking about fiestaware on her birthday 🙁 there is a reason!!!

ACK!!! YOU are living a charmed life my friend. Your plum sitting next to your Lilac – I can see that vignette clearly in my mind’s eye – together are superlative.
If it’s a nice drive, I suggest you go get yourself a Mulberry or few… and see what else you like to go with it; white always works with my purple (all are designed to harmonize so anything you like works). One doesn’t even need a whole set to make a happy table even happier.
Re: your S&P set –
the small pieces – (recently retired classic style) teacups included, often don’t have a maker’s mark… some older things also; the recognizable features your friend taught you to notice are consistent & specific.
There was/is an abundant amount of imitation by other companies… but they never copy the identical Art Deco pattern.
Most Fiesta you’ll find in the wild does have a mark though, and they’re not all the same; some look as if they’re stamped with ‘ink’ (it’s fired in) and some are debossed into the clay, which can sometimes be filled by the glaze & hard or impossible to read clearly. I’ve learned to recognize even a partial debossed mark – very specific lettering in them also.
In my experience, stamped marks on Plum & other very dark colors are especially hard to see but are usually there.Some even have both types of marks; the ‘ink’ stamps are of several different sorts also.
Fiesta is heavy – almost always a give-away.
You could learn a lot by going to the outlet store & just handling the different items to learn what they feel like.
If you know you know – is the best place to get to.
I’ve read a lot by people who are very knowledgable to be aware of as much as I can – they taught me how to look everything up so I don’t actually have to know much… I can just go find out as needed!
I didn’t need to be taught that purple is the best color, neither did you – which is one of the most important things. What you like best is what you’ll enjoy having & using as you wish.

My side note is: I’d gathered just a few pieces over many years just as a passing mood moved me, always one here a couple there; and one day (August 19, 2023 I wrote it down) I found an entire table setting of 16 pieces (in 4 retired colors – Cobalt, Persimmon, Yellow, & Periwinkle; one 3pc set & a lg. platter in each color) just sitting on a bottom shelf, and I bought them all for half the price of one platter new/retail. Jackpot/Treasure/Score!
A switch flipped inside me and I asked the Universe “what else is out there???” I decided to thrift a set to leave my GrandGirl when I croak (I started making tea parties with her when she was a toddler) – I began treasure hunting for real – reasoning that she could sell it if she didn’t want that & buy herself something she does want;
and I’ve found so much more Fiesta than I could ever carry away.
I devised some criteria, parameters, & boundaries for what I’m allowed to acquire (pretend ‘rules’ I follow) even though it’s all/most affordably priced, just to keep our little collection coherent and harmonious and useful for different occasions.
She has loved choosing color combinations, setting tables, & making seating arrangements herself with what we have… Pink Christmas was a big hit (Rose/Peony Pinks, Seamist green, & White) and it felt magical in the way that all came about. A little nice thing we do together.
UNlikely synchronicities… like talking about your friend on her birthday over Fiesta… happen when our Spirits are lifted (to higher frequencies) by a focus on enjoyable pursuits… and lifted Spirits allow wonderful things to happen easily. Like a friend who enjoys something, and enjoys sharing it, makes the enjoyment contagious.
Fiesta can spark contagious happiness – the originator’s intention specifically for that has held True & remains in effect. (color therapy is an actual thing now – so there’s that)
Small pleasures can do wonders for us to fortify our ability to keep putting one foot in front of the other to move forward in spite of the usurpers’ imposed chaos – and to stay balanced in the positive.

as for the s/p set… hmmmm….there is not much room on the bottoms for stamping or marks. If it’s inked in, will it say fiesta?? I will look and look. But, i am just not 100% that it’s fiesta. Darn that i cannot remember where i got them (but it was long ago, before internet, and I know i got them at a real store, because i dont shop elsewhere, or often).

S&Ps don’t have the mark *because* the bottom is small & the fill-hole takes up the entire bottom.
You’ve got Fiesta if it matches what’s on the website. The small pieces are hit or miss for the marks.

The Fiesta Jumbo Mugs & Jumbo Bowls I have don’t have a Fiesta mark, they have the HLC Fleur deLis-looking mark… still totally & absolutely Fiesta & modern, just as an example of the really varied marks used over the past 89 years.
It’s been a successful company for a long time (HLC began in 1871, Fiesta introduced 1936) & I can’t imagine how many millions of pieces they’ve produced.
At that link, at the top is a ‘site map’ – click that then go to “Backstamps” on the 2nd row – scroll down to the chart of letters…
Look at your Lilac pitcher’s maker’s mark & if it has letters in the mark, this chart will allow you to confirm what year your pitcher was made. Lilac was a very short window of production so it’s already pretty obvious, but you might be able to pinpoint exactly. Just for FYI.

So before you go you give yourself a Fleet enema at home. That is to be done 1 hour before the procedure. They offer to give a script for Valium to take if you want. I refused. Sherry went with me, but I drove there and back.
Once there, you lay on your left side with you knees drawn up and your bare bum exposed. They coach you to the exact position they want you in. Then the real fun begins.
First they lube you up and stick a ultrasound prob up your butt. Then after some maneuvering it around some they get the image they want. Then they inject topical lidocaine up there.
Then they use an instrument that shoots the needle into your prostate. Click and then there is a tinge of discomfort. Each needle taking a little sample. 15 times, with three aimed at a specific place in the tumor. After about the 8th one it starts to get more irritating with each click. I don’t count them but the Doc let me know when he was 1/2 way done.
They get done and you clean up and head to the bathroom. Blood in urine and stool should cease within 48 hours. Taking Cipro the day before, the day of, then the day after. 24 hours after I can see no frank blood in my stool or urine I can get back on my blood thinner.
Now I’ve been sitting long enough. Time to go lay down and watch some TV and take a nap until dinner time. No heavy lifting for at least three days.

For my second one back on 9/11/2019, I asked for two scoops (of lube), since that was circulating around about PDJT & ice cream.
My second one was an MRI guided one.
My first one was unguided random sampling back in Feb 2016.
Mine were only 12 needles.Back then 5 of 12 cores were + for cancer. Rated a Gleason 3+3, so I went on Active Surveillance.
In July 1999 my PSA started spiking, so an MRIwas done in August, followed by the MRI in August. That showed two bilateral PIRADS 4& 5 lesions bilaterally.
Gleason score changed to 3+4 -7 and Dr. told me that I had 2 years to make a treatment decision.
I had a successful robotic radical prostatectomy on 7/29/2021, delayed because of the Wuhan complications.
I would have preferred a localized treatment, such as MRI guided laser ablation by HALO diagnostics.
However, that was not covered by insurance and I would have had to travel to Atlanta GA or Houston TX.
My surgery was successful. I have a Prostate Cancer support group meeting tonight.
Not because I need it – others do that are overwhelmed by the diagnosis.
We tell them things the doctors do not emphasize enough, so they do not lose patients. As well as advice on how to get through it successfully.
There have been many advancements the past decade in treatment options.

After surgery, there are things that have to be done to prevent fibrosis and atrophy while the nerves heal.
Which can be 6 months to 3-5 years.
You have to remember that one set of doctors is primarily concerned with getting rid of your cancer.
There is another set of doctors and therapists that deal with what the cancer doctors do.
That sounds just about as bad as some of your missions behind enemy lines!

Some of us do not have as restrictive “filters” of what we share.
Prostate cancer does not receive the amount of attention that breast cancer does.
Men are even reluctant to seek tests & treatment because of the side effects of impotence and continence.
Deleterious side effects are not as common as they once were.
But treatments have improved to the point where we have guys that were diagnosed with stage 4 cancer 10 years ago and are still with us.
Their quality of life is diminished, but they are still vertical and breathing.
I’ve read that if a man lives long enough there is a 100% chance of getting prostate cancer.
This is delicate subject matter, but it NEEDS to be talked about.
Guys are reluctant to go to a Dr about a lot of things, particularly this. Making people aware of it is important.

Yes. Many men that live into their 80’s will have prostate cancer, but they will NOT die from it. Because most (not all) are very slow growing.
Early detection is key, along with monitoring and evaluation to discern who needs treatment and who does not.
By time pain and symptoms show, it is usually too late.
It is almost 100% curable if caught early before the cancer has metastasized and spread outside the gland.
In the early days (20+ yrs now) after the simple PSA blood test was invented, there was a tendency towards over treatment.
Men that had very slow growing cancers that were no danger were subjected to surgery and radiation and the side effects.
Some men still “flip out” when they hear the “C” word and want to get rid of it regardless. Everyone is different.
The dreaded DRE (digital rectal exam) is still a good idea. There is a very rare, but very aggressive, form of PC that does not cause a rise in the PSA level. A DRE can detect that by feeling a lump or hard spot.
That is subjective on the physician performing it. When I used to get a DRE from my Primary during my annual physical, she would just reach it and touch it and withdraw.
(Yep, there is a prostate there!)
The DRE from a Urologist at Roswell Park Cancer Institute was more deliberate and thorough. They would take time to palpate different areas for evaluation.

In our world of “never a dull moment” – we got the unlucky selection of daughter being singled out by an online predator. The internet is the absolute devil and no one will convince me otherwise. She’s safe.. but it was too close for comfort and some really unfortunate things happened. We’ve spoken to law enforcement and know more than we ever wanted to know about how trafficking can happen, how people are targeted, and how information is used to that end. She was being lured and was about three weeks away from a mistake that could have had unimaginable consequences.
THANK GOD I WAS VACUUMING IN HER ROOM AND GOD SHOWED ME A SMALL INDEX CARD WITH AN UNKNOWN ADDRESS ON IT.
It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to scrub a person’s footprint off of social media. I was able to quell a lot of it, but there were some accounts I couldn’t get access to to take down as daughter forgot passwords, etc… and even authentication methods do not allow the retractability of these online accounts. Soooo verrrrrry pissed!
We are in vigilance mode. The perp knows way too much about my daughter. Thus… we are now considering military enlistment sooner rather than later. Was not expected, but seems a plausible way to protect her identity and give her some much needed guidance and training for self-protection, situational awareness, and grow-up-quick life experiences.
As a mother, I’m beyond angry. I will say this, though…. GOD HAS PROVEN SOVEREIGN OVER THIS AND HAS PERFORMED MIRACULOUS WORKS ON HER BEHALF UP TO TWO YEARS AGO… TO PREPARE FOR THIS ISSUE TODAY. It has awed and humbled me.
If you have children / grandchildren… get them the hell off of smart phones and off of social media all together. Do not be fooled for a minute that they are only talking to known people. It could cost you and them dearly. Social media is absolute garbage.
These perps target young women ages 18 to 20 years old and young boys aged 13 to 15 years old. They coerce the photos of the young woman to lure the young boys. They isolate each from their family and loved ones – luring them to unfamiliar locations – then when the victim arrives – the story falls apart and they are met with animals who are in no way similar to their online persona. By then… the victim is in unknown territory… and they can’t extricate themselves successfully from the situation. According to our 20 year law enforcement, town Police Force Lieutenant… over 70% of the time… the victims are never found.
In our small town (which has overnight been turned into an industrial mecca with tilt up warehouses and traffic… and trafficking)… a young woman who worked at the pizza joint within walking distance from us… was pursued by a man, became her boyfriend, and got her hooked on drugs. Despite her breaking free, changing residences, changing phone number… he still found her again using social media. He kidnapped her. It took the authorities 7 months to find her… at which time the perpetrators were moving her location to location. They found her in a hotel in which she had been staged for 9 days… she was hooked on drugs, 3 months pregnant, and had been repeatedly raped by 50 men. Another victim was groomed, and she ended up in pieces in a barrel.
I feel like I’m about to vomit writing this – again, this “come to meet Jesus” with the Lieutenant revealed more than we wanted to know about our small hamlet of a community – but Mama Bear is pissed off, so you’re gonna hear it!!! You have every right to check on your children – even the slightly grown ones. If God inclines you to check out an “uneasy feeling” – do not delay, investigate thoroughly.
These perpetrators are not trackable… because they use burner phones. This perp could have been in the location he said he was… or he could be here. He knows way too much about our family, my daughter’s whereabouts, and scheduling.
Authorities have been alerted, managers of work alerted (they knew about it and had just met with one another to discuss telling me – uuuuuhhhhh…. how about SOONER RATHER THAN LATER???), and I am… as always… vigilant. Sadly, I’m a bit more trigger happy now than I was before to my great lament.
We are getting our arms around this… and I IMPLORE YOU… get your freaking kids off social media!!!! It is the devil. One simply cannot confirm identities of participants, nor that they are using legitimate photos for identification purposes.
And in all things… PRAY. LET NO WEAPONS FORMED AGAINST US PROSPER. Go in love and peace, my friends, but prepare your pieces for when hell comes knocking at your door. We are prepared.

My mind is mush. God IS and WAS certainly with her. I get so angry when something as powerful and wonderful as the internet is turned and used for nefarious reasons. Just like Facebook. Was an incredible tool and opportunity to maintain contact with friends and family throughout the world – until we realized that our data was NOT our own and could be surveilled and co-opted randomly. And all these smart phones – of which I have THREE in this apartment and I simply DETEST them now. We give so much of ourselves away.
These kids – their “reality” is so different. They “trust” everything and want to think the best in people… even when those people are pushing boundaries. He had her believing he was marrying her and she was in love… followed by “How tall are you?” We obviously know those are in the wrong order!
This desperate need of attention is alarming. For goodness sake – I work mostly from home and she’s rarely alone and yet it still wasn’t enough. Thankfully, I took her to the police department and the Lieutenant counseled her and spoke sense. Thereafter, she didn’t want to leave my side. Didn’t want to go to bed. She was notably shaken. Is it enough to protect her until she can graduate into her next lift chapter towards her career… God, I hope so.

I listen to podcasts to learn. I listen to primarily military intelligence special forces podcasters, Joe Rogan, guerrilla journalist Lara Logan, and a couple more political figures. Father was career Military Police Officer; ex-husband was Military Intelligence. I ran a sales territory in Los Angeles and was constantly situationally aware (including Boyle Heights and Compton in South Central)
Had no idea that after the training and instruction and raising up of my own daughter (ad nauseum), how close the criminal syndicate would try to get to my own home.

So people use this information to your disadvantage sometimes grievously as you have found out.
When meeting up with someone you met online…… public places ….. the more people there the better, such as when we met…. technically that could have been dangerous too when you were walking back to your car in the dark with no one else leaving at the same time (hopefully you were armed as a precaution… I would have been if I still had a license in IN (you could have had someone else with you) criminals with intent probably not licensed & armed anyway).
There are many other things that I could probably give a class on since I have had to design countermeasures for employees I fire & customers that feel I have somehow wronged them … you can always call me …. it will still go to voicemail (one precaution to make sure I know you & always on DND) It is a dedicated number or text me which I will get immediately VM message too tho may be delayed a bit. As the school system has made crystal clear, as the abuse and trafficking industry have made clear, as our politicians who are supposed to make protective policies have made clear… our children have been turned into “currency”… to be spent, traded, and used as bargaining chips.
Social media has been used to draw them in, isolate them, make them illiterate in social skills, and frankly awkward. They’re reality is virtual, so they feel invincible to risk. Now, Savannah hasn’t been a gamer… ever… nor was she on social media. Her media presence wasn’t until we started the Bible Study Fellowship group that also has a WhatsApp chat. Allowing that media presence and loosening the grips… it took just a few months before it turned dark.
I don’t think I’ve ever been angrier in my life. I’m not afraid. I had to talk to her… after talking with her managers… that every customer she serves is not a perpetrator.
One has to walk in confidence, but also in clarity. My kid is a good kid… and we’ve had some pretty awesome God moments lately… so I should have known the devil would come lurking.

THE POWER OF GOD
When confronted with impossible odds
With insurmountable bauds and frauds
We look to contemplation and reason
Inward outward no matter the season
After consideration of every option
The master chosen is the swaption
Of the world we should be but naught
Through daily struggles we get caught
We twist and turn aimlessly all about
Filled with anger anguish dastardly doubt

What can we do to detach and dispatch
The obvious outrageous moot mismatch
What have we done that we need to undo
What can we do to secure a breakthrough
What did we do at the start that went wrong
Why is it so hard and taking so long
Why do we struggle to figure it out
It all comes back to the matter of doubt
What did Thomas doubt that was unseen
What was he missing that should have been
Why did he hesitate when others believed
What did they have he had not received
We know the story of Thomas the doubter
Unfortunately some have played the flouter
Of little faith were Thomas and Matthew
By His Word we really did not have to
In Proverbs 3 – lies quality advice
The commands are simple and thrice
Trust – Lean Not – and do Acknowledge
The path made straight by pre-knowledge
Does faith precede you in all that you do
Is obedience without further ado
Do you take it up with Him first or last
Is your turmoil present or is it past
Does doubt deter and mesmerize your mind
Do you panic because you fell behind
Are you anxiety-ridden and far off course
Have you considered the unseemly source
When we dare to doubt the Power of God
We fail to trust – acknowledge – give Him laud
We think falsely there is naught He can do
Tho’ the impossible He can make anew
A time when we were too lost and tossed
It appeared the bridge could not be crossed
The mountain was much too high to mount
And problems were too numerous to count
Not so – not anymore – God is in charge
Man cannot solve worldwide turmoil at large
Much too soon the enemy took control
Before too long he’ll be in a blackhole
One man cannot right the wrongs worldwide
He can make changes with God by his side
When there appears to be no other way
The Power of God will – so let us PRAY!

Evening Prayer For Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Evening Prayer For Future Guidance
Heavenly Father, as I lie down to sleep tonight, I pray that You would guard my sleeping and protect my mind from wandering thoughts and unnecessary planning. Teach me to wait for Your perfect timing and not to try to plan my future in my own strength.
Lord, I know that You have scheduled every day of my life. Help me to trust You in all things and rely on You to lead me along the straight path and guide me in the direction that You would have me to go.
Give me patience to wait for Your perfect timing, and may I not trust in my own abilities and scheming, but rather rest in Your love and trust my future into Your hands.
And so now Lord, I commit this night to you, asking that I would rest soundly and wake refreshed and strong to do Your bidding. This I ask in Jesus’ precious name,

Prayer Of Thanksgiving In The Evening
Praise Your holy name Heavenly Father, for granting yet another day in my life and for being with me every step of the way. Thank You for the many blessings that You have provided and the love and fellowship that I have with the friends and family that in Your grace You have placed in my life.
My heart is so thankful for all the many blessings that I enjoy day by day, and today I am once again reminded that Your mercies are new every morning and Your faithfulness endures from generation to generation.
Thank You, that I have been brought into Your family and have been made a child of God and a citizen of heaven. Words cannot express my love and devotion to You Lord
I pray that You would watch over me as I rest tonight, and that You would give me a restful nights sleep so that I may wake up in the morning refreshed in body and spirit and ready to do Your will.
