Good morning, Woo! Prayed for you earlier, hope things are well (improving)!
Blessed evening, Floraofsolomon. We are holding our own. Fortunately kiddo’s shift was canceled for her last night. She was under the weather again… but chicken soup and prayer to the rescue.
Friday night, she stayed up until midnight to finish her Revelation study… she wouldn’t miss the Saturday morning class for the world. That gives me great hope and confidence.
As for the job situation, there’s much still under the surface especially with the field manager who left last week and his wife. Big issues with him and with the owner that I know The Holy Spirit is working on.
Come what may.
We feel as though a chain has been lifted and that which is spoken in the darkness is being brought into the light.
There’s a forty year bondage and now generational sin. I’m not certain it will be settled or eradicated immediately. The person has to be willing to leave sinful life behind. I’m not certain he is.
But my livelihood and our shelter is God’s responsibility. He Has Never Failed us.
I hope you and yours are well, safe and sound. Has your son decided on his school?

Israel Update:
I didn’t post for a while, I will still try to keep it to the points because Israeli media is loaded with speculations.
-A reminder: 59 hostages are still in Gaza. 22 are still alive including one American.
35 of those 59 are dead and two we don’t know if alive or dead.
-Witkoff (Trump’s messenger for negotiating) went to Qatar, spoke with the Qataris, Egyptians and other Middle Eastern nations who may be paying for reconstruction of Gaza or may want to be a part of a solution like Saudis and UAE, Jordan.
He proposed releasing about 10 living hostages and some 18 dead in exchange for extending the ceasefire and release of Palestinian prisoners and beginning the Phase 2 negotiations.
Hamas declined.
Hamas “agreed” to release one American Israeli solider and 4 dead bodies of dual citizens. This came with a long list of unreasonable demands. And Israel and the US are pushing back. Everything else is speculations. The reality is that we are trying to release as many as we can and willing to give 50 days and many prisoners. But the option to resume the war and kill Hamas or disarm them is non-negotiable, Hamas can’t stay. So the aide is off right now and Hamas is working on planting numerous bombs to make it hard to conquer.
If we come back in we will have to scorch earth. Soliders will not be able to step anywhere that was not plowed or bombarded. Of course the residents will have to leave the North of Gaza again.
-The main News today is a serious US attack on the Houthis. Homes of senior Command, radars, drone and missile storages. So far 18 dead and some injured.
Trump explains his reasons quite well on Truth Social. I recommend reading it. It’s too long to be posted here. The main point is that per reports this is going to continue until they stop messing with the world’s trade and shipping. Trump is also sending a message to Iran in words and actions. Biden was too afraid of a regional war and backed off. Trump is actually likely to get results and stop their aggression. As a note, they are being defiant at the moment. They may attack Israel or the Saudis. But Trump is personally over this and they will make a big mistake to mess with him. What he already did here is more than Biden in 4 years.
-The US is now talking tough to Lebanon and basically saying that if the Lebanese Military will not disarm Hezbollah (in the South of Lebanon) the US will be totally fine with the IDF getting in again. The Lebanese government is disappointing the US and is not doing anything to Hezbollah. Israel withdraw was in exchange to a disarming of South Lebanon.
-There is a new Israeli strategy that is showing up after 10/7 and its insistence on disarming areas of threats outside the borders. So the IDF is taking positions in South Syria and disarming them from Jihadi forces. Israel is trying to hold positions in Lebanon and disarming the area. And Gaza must be disarmed, so far it’s not successful aside for the destruction of their rocket manufacturing and capabilities.
-A Ring of 6 terrorists killed in Gaza. A drone strike. One of them was on the 10/7 list.
They were actively organizing an attack against the IDF with drones etc….

Desperate times calls for desperate measures…hmm
It’s legal but sure to be challenged in short order by an NGO or ACLU.
I say go for it Arkansas, set the precedent, the law is on the books for a reason and I have personally witnessed dangerous behavior from illiterate drivers who cannot read traffic warning signs. Most seemed to be of foreign heritage.
Gov Saunders is tough and sure to catch a lot of flack for this outstanding attempt to protect the public.
There is a federal requirement that commercial drivers must understand enough english to properly interpret traffic signs. That includes warning and information signs that require a higher level of literacy than the standard traffic signs.
The written testing is conducted by the state but driver testing for actual driving skills is conducted by state certified employees of the trainers , be they at a trucking company or a firm that does driver training.
But I am hearing that some of these illiterate drivers are even hauling HAZMAT loads. Getting the HAZMAT endorsement on your CDL is by far the most difficult of all CDL endorsements to obtain. Not only is the written test the most difficult of any other endorsement test, the driver is required to be fingerprinted and go through a process to confirm their identity EVERY TIME when they renew that endorsement every 4 years (Indiana has now changed it to every 5 years). I know, because I had that endorsement for over 15 years.
I suspect the drivers in cuffs referred to were pulling HAZMAT without the endorsement.
One day a delivery driver for a certain company stopped me to help him. I had to talk to his translator on his phone so she could tell him what I said. Eventually we located where he was supposed to deliver the package, which was confusing due to someone else’s incoherent information.
Good grief.
my friend just told me a similar story for a foreigner sent to fix her roof. It was in FL. She had to talk into his phone app so it would translate for him.
Yesterday I went to a local state park to do some “Hikersize”. This park has a very nice trail system and I’ve been using it for a lot of years. From time to time there will be signs posted warning of a mountain lion sighting at the park. I have 2, 100 plus pound dogs that are my trail companions, they are mixed breed, livestock guardian and rottweiler.
At one point on the trail, the female, which is an alpha dog got really scared, she started whimpering, shaking and wouldn’t leave my side. She has never acted like this before, I checked her for injuries and she was fine and so I decided to listen to her and went back up the trail where we came from. After a few hundred yards she settled down and went back to normal.
I’m going with it that she either seen, smelled or sensed the presence of a big cat, a predator. I’m glad I seen this reaction in her for we do quite a bit of wilderness hiking, backpacking and camping. It gives me one more body language tool to look for and to react too.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. People are opportunity nothing more. There are no others but you in life, and how you better them or destroy them. Judgement is self judgement, and it is constant for a believer. To ignore our responsibility is to continue to live among the dead.
Deny me the fact that life ending is empty with great regret for a soul, a life that lived for ego, self only. The truth is, a full life is given away in abundance and God himself replaces it with his life. Not sacrificing but living in truth. Truth is not easy to see because it is perception that blinds us to reality. The only reality that matters is the reality others see in or from you, and that your heart is pure, righteous. And truth is not always obvious. In my experience, a dog knows more truth than we do.

I had to laugh at this, Idaho, after posting my meatloaf recipe. Hadn’t seen your post – and you are right – it took way longer to prepare it than to eat it. It was good exercise though for working with the teenager in the kitchen. Hopefully she will take the skills she is learning to feed her own family at the dining room table in her future. One hopes.
For many people preparing meals is an act of love.
And – I know lots of people who just love to cook.
As you say – teaching and sharing – preparing kids for the future is irreplaceable time and effort. Kudos to you both

My mom cooked “Pennsylvania Dutch” recipes all our lives (child of the 50s, I am) and it was only about 5 years ago I learned they weren’t Dutch but German (Deutsch) there in Lancaster PA
A favorite was a whole pork loin or roast in a big pot, then add sauerkraut near the end and spread a big thick layer of bisquick on the top that’d turn into dumplings. Mashed potatoes on the side to make a crater to fill with kraut and juice.
Grew up in Philly outskirts and S Jersey Shore, had a grandad in Harrisburg so we drove thru Lancaster area couple times to visit him, got to see the horse buggys

Im praying to our God today, to unburden me, of the worry’s and trials and tribulations I face.
Some days, its just too much. I go and visit my friends, but I’m am very quiet. My mind is always going, worrying, dreading, what is to come. They notice it. I feel like I’m missing my right arm too. I accepted my wife for who she was, faults and all. I feel completely out of place. I dont talk about all of this with them, because they have their own problems. No one wants to hear it, and I know that, without asking. So I have no one to talk to sometimes, but you all, here.
I spend all my time alone these days. Still hurting from everything that has transpired since June. I was never meant to be a single man, especially at my age. What my estranged wife has done to me is hard to understand. I got news today, she re-married, 4 months ago. After all those years with me. So that means in under 4 months, she met, moved in with and married another man. And is still carrying on her patterns of drinking herself, to a certain end. Its hard to keep all this stuff in.
I know now, it was never real. That is painful to think about.
Now that I am not in good health, its even harder. Its me and my dog. Poor dog, I can see it in his face. He misses the hustle and bustle of this home. Its so quiet now, it drives me into a bad place. I simply not used to it.
My grown children have busy lives, and family’s to raise. I understand why they dont come around as often as I wish they would. Its hard in todays world, both parents working, kids taking up the rest of their time.
I pray somehow, that all of this will one day, leave me in a peaceful place. Today is one of those times, where the loneliness, and quiet gets to me. Being by myself after 28 years, has not gotten easier. as i thought it would.
Only God understands it and why I am so depressed. I suppose unless you are in my shoes, it is hard to get it.
I pray to Him, for he is the light keeps me going. I dont even know how I do it somedays. Truly I dont………
You are in the company of people who understand, even if we are not right there.

If I may, coming from my position as a single Mom whose child has a hard time making friends her own age because she doesn’t share the same interests with her learning difference.
Trust me when I say this to you… from experience… YOU ARE BETTER ALONE THAN TO BE IN AN ENVIRONMENT OF CONSTANT UNCERTAINTY AND TURMOIL. GUARD YOUR PEACE.
I know you are depressed and I totally get it. It’s really HARD not having someone to share the pace and whispers of life with. Hard to not have someone around to bounce things off of and to gather opinions and not feel like at total failure to have to admit frailties with close friends (of which there are few of those!) and to feel like you’re whining to them about hard times. I get it.
Also, you are right… it is a struggle for our younger families today as society has burdened them with the necessity of dual income households and few view the stay at home Mom as a goal and worthy of sacrifice in modest living and financial planning.
My friend… when you are blue… may I please, please recommend volunteering. Find a church with an AWANA and/or Upwards youth activities and be a mentor to those kids who deeply need a father or grandfather figure. Give your time to them. It’s not too much… for AWANA maybe three hours a week and for Upwards maybe around 6 hours a week, but it’s doable… and it is rewarding… and it will get your butt up off your couch and give you some meaning.
Join Al-Anon. It is an excellent grief support group and my friend, you can mentor others who are so deeply challenged in their own elements of grief in their circumstances. Through the giving of yourself… you can help HEAL yourself and, honestly, take your mind off of yourself.
Some day… you will come to be thankful that you are no longer in bondage to an alcoholic. Do not obsess over what was real, or what wasn’t. It is in the past. It is a loss, though, so you should grieve… but not so much grief that it immobilizes you, overcomes your mind, and steals your joy. Only you are giving her the power to steal your joy. Be thankful you have been released.
Journal your thoughts to God and then revisit your entries in six months time. Turn your cares and worries over to Him and just watch… what in six months time He Can and Will Do for your life. And you need to keep us up to date on your well-being.
I, for one, am rooting for you and can’t wait to see how GOD IS GOING TO TURN THIS AROUND FOR YOU.

So crank it up and hook up with a couple other players to blow out the cobwebs in somebody’s basement or barn or a rental rehearsal room every week or 2, depending whether you’re town or country.
I just finished a 12-year run with a jump-blues band, kept me busy and social over a decade’s run, weekly bar and restaurant residencies, occasional multi-band shows, plus regular band rehearsals kept me pretty occupied
Along the way I was in a trio with an original songwriter for about 3 years until a surgical mishap disabled him
And then I was guitarist in a country-punk band for 2 years, playing everything from Neko Case to Amy Winehouse
All 3 of those bands were active concurrently, so I was pretty busy but it was fun to be on the scene. The lockdown brought most of it to a halt but we kept the blues band up and running the whole time. The club scene supporting the country-punk band didn’t come back after lockdown, so a void remains there.
But you got a couple tools for socializing there, if you can hoist yourself out of the house to engage.

Since you’re all too far away to join us at the dinner table, I’m sharing a fun meatloaf recipe with you. I got this from a family of ten and the mother is an excellent cook for all her kids.
This makes two decent sized meatloaves. We cut these into halves when they are baked and put three halves into the freezer for easy future meals and they are just as good as the day you made them.
Equal parts ground beef or ground turkey with a good ground pork 1:1 ratio – about 2 to 2 1/2 lbs of meat2 Eggs2/3 Cup Rolled Oats2/3 Cup of Finely Diced Onion1/2 Cup of Finely Diced Celery (Savory) or Finely Diced Red,Yellow, or Orange Bell Peppers (a bit sweeter of a meatloaf)1/3 Cup of Shredded Carrots2/3 Cup of Shredded Zucchini3 tablespoons Ketchup1 tablespoon Worchestershire Sauce1 teaspoon Ground Mustard Seed1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper1/2 teaspoon Garlic Power1 teaspoon Paprika1 teaspoon Oregano(Optional) 1 teaspoon Ground Sea Salt – if you are using a seasoned ground pork – do not add salt – the pork is salty enoughIf eating these right away and not freezing them – you can top with Ketchup or Barbecue Sauce the last 10 to 15 minutes of baking – my own “sauce” is 3 tablespoons of Ketchup, 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar, 1/3 teaspoon Ground Cloves, 1/3 teaspoon Ground Black PepperMix all ingredients together and portion out into two bread loaf pans. No need to grease or prep the pans. Top with your sauce (if eating right away. If not, bake without the sauce and add the sauce just when you are eating, or reheating the frozen portions. You can also leave sauce off entirely if you are having mashed potatoes and gravy.)
Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
This is great when you have spare from the garden to use, or you have children you are cooking for who are not keen on veggies. This is a good way to convince them to eat them without pushing too hard.

I am super happy to report that we have two super cute River Otters in our man-made lake behind us. We had two a couple of years ago, but I saw one perish in the talons of a bird of prey here. Was small… looked like a five pound cat, but with course black hair. It was a huge bird and it landed on my andironback chair because it was trying to balance itself with its cargo about ten feet away from me. Scared the crap out of me while I was working at my desk in my office. What an experience!
I had only seen one otter for a just a short while and I had feared that the remaining one, too, had perished. Saw none all through last year and even the birds of prey had seemed to move on. Lots of construction and they’re losing their habitat quickly here. We did see the coyote and the rabbit this winter, but no otters for over a year.
This weekend, we saw two of them again swimming and playing together. They were across the lake from me, so I couldn’t get a good picture… but it’s going to be my goal now to try to capture a picture to share. They are darling!!!
If you could see all the concrete tilt-up warehouses they have erected here… you would know how remarkable it is that wildlife is still trying to live here. Whitestown used to be a very small town bordering vast farmland. The farmland is vanishing and the concrete warehouses now block the views of the horizons for the subdivisions, that too are multiplying at break neck speeds. Happened fast. In two short years… it all changed. How contractors had the money to build these during COVID’s pandemic, raw materials, and economic crisis… boggles my mind. They’ve been up a couple years now and the shift is into these mega apartment complexes that start out at $1,500 a month for a 1 BR 1 BA… and four have been built within walking distance. They are also building these really weird cracker-box style homes that are duplexes with zero lot lines, right on top of each other. The duplexes cannot hold a family – they look so small… enough for just a single to live there, with maybe a dog… uncomfortably. The infrastructure is struggling under the weight… and it’s not been an improvement.
It’s the death of this small suburban hamlet and our wildlife is suffering terribly. My rent is $2,000 a month, plus utilities, for a 2 BR, 1 office 2 BA, 2 car garage single story 30 miles NW of Indianapolis. We got in before the sharp increase with the apartment builds and they are now commanding about $2,500 to $2,800 for our apartments. My next door neighbor got hit with a $300/month increase when they renewed last year. It will be interesting to see what they do to us when my lease is to renew in July. Fortunately, our utilities are light – around $230 a month as we part of a non-profit REMC (rural electric membership cooperative) – however folks living in adjacent towns with Duke Energy have been seeing their bills triple with some modest homes reporting $500+ a month electric bills. Outrageous!
I used to say that “I live in a small town” – a play on that Hoosier John Cougar Mellencamp song. Can’t say that anymore. Now it’s becoming a concrete jungle with false appeal, little character, and tract housing.
I miss our farmers and it’s why I brought Savannah back here to live 17 years ago from Seattle. Small towns are great places to raise kids. Indiana used to be that way until our Governors got too comfy being WEF darlings. They’ll regret it. Once you pave over prime farmland – you never get it back.
They just can’t leave anything nice alone. Everywhere you go farmland is being hijacked by leftists corporate greed. Makes me puke.

Back where I had my house @ exit 59 I-70 N of the road is now all warehouses when I went back last July & vinyl villages are going up in the old cornfields S of the road, to support the employees of those warehouses.
The breaking news about the time I left was my water bill was going to be going up from 15ish dollars(up from 9.00) to about 40-50 because we were being forced to pay(millions) to run a pipe up to Mooresville from Monrovia to attach to Indianapolis water due to the need to supply those provisioned vinyl villages with water, there were a lot of hot conversations about having to pay for that, not the developers.
I had well water already @ the home before I bought it, but was forced to tie into “city water” due to the mortgage company requiring it as it was available to me @ curb.
I used the well water to water vegetation & wash the vehicles as both out door faucets were the only thing left on well water.
Nowadays having alternate sources of water and power is not a bad contingency.
Though well water can be tricky here depending upon where you’re located. Farming treatments had their own problems 20 to 30 years ago and it showed up in the children of my generation.
Think autism, childhood cancer, etc rates.
