Reminds me of the saying….’It’s all technique, my friend….ALL technique’.
Reminds me of a little contest the mechanics had, was probably brought on by the “body builder=BB” mechanic that was a little less than useless (he wasn’t around long). I had about a 4 foot or so Ford truck tie rod (steering front end) that I used as a pry bar for various jobs.
Now The BB guy thought he could out lift all us “old timers” tho I had only been doing it about 7 or so years.
I don’t remember what the exact order of who tried when but the rules were lifting with wrist strength only with arm by side.
BB went first, could not even get the tip of it off the floor, the laughter was deafening.
Transmission man was able to lift tip off floor a couple of inches.
Heavy engine man was able to lift about a 6 inches or so.
I think at the time I was the “used car” guy, lifted it over 12.
Mr Body Builder never lived it down, I don’t remember him being around much longer as he had many escapades that he would never live down, including dropping his own “monster truck” off his lift doing some sort of repair on it, lucky he didn’t drop it on his head.
New guy at my friend’s shop. It was his first day . . . he dropped a pristine XKE coupe off his lift, putting a deep gash in a stressed monocoque body section (a very expensive repair). Loaded up his tools and left without saying a word. Shop rules like that don’t have to be written down.

Israel Update:
I should have spent more time on the next subject. It’s the most significant news that is going on and Western media is probably ignoring. I hesitated to publish this as it should be confidential but it was already published on a main news outlet in Israel.
So pay attention to the following:
-Israeli Deputy Chief of Staff met Vice Admiral Brad Cooper Deputy Commander, United States Central Command ahead of the inauguration in the US to coordinate some things:
The center of the meeting was Iran which dramatically increased the amount of uranium on the way to nuclear bombs. Remember that Iran is considering the US the “Big Satan” and Israel the “Small Satan”. They are actually serious, you may think it’s fantasy but this is their belief and why they act as they do. They have intercontinental missiles to carry the bombs anywhere they want. Anyways, the main subject of the meeting was the improvement of the readiness and cooperation for a mutual Israel/US attack on the nuclear facilities.
Additionally they discussed the release of a large shipment that Biden prevented and is very needed. 134 D9 bulldozers that the IDF is using at the head of every advancing force to clear IEDs (explosives) and to collapse buildings on terrorists who fight from those buildings.
Additionally 1700 heavy bombs for the Air-Force.
The meeting was in the Nevatim Air base where the F35 fighters are supposed to be located.
They also discussed Yemen.
Iranian Foreign Minister two weeks ago said that “2025 will be an important year regarding the Iranian nuclear subject”.
According to the last Quarterly report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the last November Iran accumulated quite a significant amount of uranium which is enriched to 60% level. This is enough for four nuclear bombs. As of Oct 26 they had 182.3 Kg enriched uranium. 17.6 Kg more than August.
To use uranium for a bomb it needs to be enriched to 90% level. But the road from 60% to 90% is technically very simple and can be done in a few days or weeks.
Theoretically every 42Kg (92.5 lb) is enough for one bomb.
As to the D9 bulldozers, what we have was working very hard for a long time and exploded numerous bombs ahead of the advancing forces and they are in serious need of maintenance. Battalion commanders were “fighting to get what was still operational”.
The recent maneuver in Jabalia, North Gaza, in Oct and Nov cost us 21 killed soldiers many by IEDs (explosives that the D9s are supposed to clear). The D9 is also effective against tunnels and has been a key component of the IDF which Biden stopped the delivery because of a pressure in his base against images of demolished Gazan buildings.
There are 1700 heavy bombs of a one tone per each from Boeing that Israel has already paid for in cash, not from aide money, that Biden froze a half a year ago. Half of it made it and half is still frozen.
-A few days ago Iran conducted massive Millitary defense drill against an Israeli attack on the nuclear sites. They filmed and exposed new anti aircraft missiles and new radars (after we destroyed their key radars before).
Iranian military leader also said that they build massive amounts of missiles and have “missile cities”.
-Iran released a new kind of a drone, Shahad 136 B, that can go about 2,500 Miles they say.
This can reach from Iran to Europe. At first look it looks like an overkill.
Teheran to Tel Aviv is 985 Miles.
You wonder why? Well, they can make new proxies and sell it to them. This can make any terror organization able to buy cheap drones that will reach 2500Miles.
Just an example 2,500Miles from Cuba to the USA is almost everywhere, NY, LA, Houston.
2,500Miles from Venezuela reaches to all of FL, some of TX, Atlanta GA, etc…
Gaza to London is within 2,226 miles. Beirut can reach almost any spot in Europe.
Basically Iran can created new Proxy anywhere that can reach far.
This is also good for sales.
-Israeli Defense Office signed a contract with Israeli Elbit Corporation to manufacture heavy bombs in Israel. This is s lesson from our experience with Biden.
-Israeli Chief of Staff in a talk with the high Command: “We will make Hamas understand that they need to return the hostages we will intensify the attacks until they understand”.
Today again tens of killed terrorists in Gaza. This time in Central Gaza and South Gaza.
-The IDF is withdrawing from some villages in South Lebanon. Some really on the border.
Biden’s Administration announces that “the first phase of the withdrawal was completed”.
I am furious. If this madness if not stopped Hezbollah will establish itself on the borders again and we fought for nothing. A larger and deadlier war will follow in a year or few.
And how will the civilians agree to return back home? I better stop my rant before I regret it.
I am mad at Biden who forced it and Bibi who complied. Hopefully there is a plan in the background that we don’t see right now. Shalom.

A crazy operation from September was released by the IDF. Very deep in Syria there was a massive factory of precision missiles for Hezbollah. It was massive and underground. Built by Iran. It was a game changing factory and destroying it from the air was too complex plus we needed documents and information. It was decided that the goal is important enough for the risk and about 100 Commando fighters were sent from the Shaldag Unit that is one of the top three IDF Special Forces (they are under the Air Force). This unit shined in Gaza, was instrumental underground. Was also the unit that was sent into hospitals to deal with terrorists in a precise manner. They were given this operation despite that we have another unit that was more likely to do it. They went down from helicopters, went into the factory, killed Syrian soldiers, took documents and computers, destroyed the site and left. At he same time reinforcement was sent and Israeli jets attacked the reinforcement before it made it. Anyways here is the footage that was just released.
Phenomenal story. The level of preparation for a job like this must be stunning. These poor guys never rest. I can’t imagine the stress of leading a raid of this magnitude. Thanks for the share David.

Inside these clouds is a combination of light ice crystals, which float upward, and soft hail known as graupel, which is denser and falls downward. This causes both particles to bang into each other, causing electrons to be transferred from the ice crystals to the graupel. The end result is a cumulus cloud with positively charged ice crystals at the top and negatively charged graupel at the bottom, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Previous to creation – when we and everything else were “part” of God, within God, we had no concept of gratitude, neither of pain, joy, loss, or any of the emotions only a life “separated” from God can experience. Nobody really knows why the Creator decided it thus, only that HE desired it so. The stage is set and lit, we’re on right now. How well we do will be determined by the applause and nod of the Director at the end of the show.

From a few years ago:
A longer version of being built…
Long ago I missed an exit heading out of IL…stopped in a small town to ask directions…then had a cop on my tail, hoping I would exceed the speed…then he passed me and pulled into a driveway ahead, lights off…hoping I would increase speed…a few miles later he was behind me again…ah speed trap…(I had my BMW then…guess he thought I was a rich city slicker/s…ha the beamer came from Carmax…LOL…anyway….I ended up on that awful bridge…no thanks to the directions I was given by the locals…
We have a junior version of that in Southern Maryland on US-301 bridging the Potomac River between MD and VA. It’s a very scary drive for many folks and many refuse to drive it, mainly because it’s used by a LOT of large full sized tractor trailers.
When a truck that size is in a lane, it uses ALL of that lane and the opposing traffic has no wiggle room at all… add to that a steep climb up to the center span and a steep descent from the center span…and that’s why it discourages many drivers from using US-301 to ravel between MD and VA.
Our daughter & family was living in Norfolk for 6 years, plus my sister & family was living in Elizabeth City NC for several decades, so we preferred using US-301, then US-17 to get to Norfolk VA and sometimes further south to Elizabeth City NC. (We hate I-95 and I-64 – traffic there is just way too fast and there are too many bad accidents caused by speed).
So I became very used to navigating that bridge. I’ve also driven 2.5 Ton and 5 Ton Army trucks over it traveling to Fort AP Hill from Baltimore back in the ’70s.

I’m not sure ‘living with it’ is optional. like so many things – you can’t live without it either. It is especially ‘wonderful’ when sitting in front of a great fire in the fireplace – looking at it thru the windows. 2 feet of snow from a winter storm in Michigan is not unique to the state where I did most of my flying.
I have mentioned the contrary weather in Detroit. Because of it’s proximity to the Great Lakes, we often had winter days that were dreary – with low clouds and poor visibility – for days and weeks on end. This kept most of us (student pilots and flight instructors) on the ground.
We faithfully checked weather before giving up for the day, and went home cheered when the forecast was for a front to go thru. Next morning would dawn grey and dreary. We’d call the Wx station – what happened? We thought we’d be able to fly today.
The front went thru. It backed up. No, I can’t even guess when it will move out.
So one day, after a particularly energetic front moved thru, dumping lots and lots of snow, the day dawned bright and clear.
Yay – we can fly.
Except – the snow plows have to plow the runway. Then they have to plow a way for us to taxi the airplane from it’s tie down position to the runway. That means plow the taxiways too.
Hours later. Can we go now? You can fly, but you have to go cross country. We need to keep the (one plowed) runway open.
So we get busy planning. We start by contacting airports we might want to land at during this flight. Surprise – surprise. They have the same problem we do – working to get the runway plowed so the can open. So, that day, we had limited landing choices. Besides landing we had to be sure we could get to the gas pumps for more gas.
Eventually, after getting the snow off the airplane, making sure it was full of gas and oil, making sure it would start, off we went.
I cannot begin to describe how utterly breathtakingly beautiful it was. White everywhere – as far as the eye could see. A blue sky only a Michigan winter day can display. Very little other air traffic wherever we went.
Talk about a changed vista – a challenge to students learning to navigate using landmarks. Other than power lines, some roads that had been cleared and smoke rising from chimneys, correlating the maps with what we could see was a challenge.
One of our planned airport stops did not have a control tower, so we could not be sure in advance whether it would be open. When we got there we were confused. We could see 2 airplanes circling the airport. One appeard to be doing what we call ‘touch and go landings’. That means you briefly touch down, apply power, and go around again. Things didn’t look quite right, so we made more circles – watching. The 2nd airplane kept trying to radio the flight service on the ground – with no answer. He then announced his intention to land.
We watched him approach and touch down – followed by a slow motion upside down event.
We hung around long enough to be sure no one was hurt – just mightily embarassed. When the pilot was rescued from his upside down airplane he was sputtering about the plane he had watched making touch and goes.
Oh, no, he wasn’t landing. He was flying low enough to try to guage how deep the snow was on the runway. He’s long gone.
We left, too.
Whoa….
What (an) experience!
