African-American abolitionist and feminist, dies at 86
Biography: Sojourner Truth was a prominent abolitionist and women’s rights activist in the 19th century. Born into slavery, she gained her freedom and became a powerful speaker against slavery and in support of women’s rights, leaving a significant impact on these reform movements.
Her birth name was Isabella Baumfree, and she was born enslaved in New York. She escaped to freedom with her infant daughter in 1826, and later successfully sued for the freedom of her son, becoming one of the first black women to win such a case against a white man.
In 1843, she changed her name to Sojourner Truth and embarked on a journey to “speak the truth” about the evils of slavery and the necessity of equal rights for all. She is best known for her speech, often titled “Ain’t I a Woman,” delivered at the Women’s Rights Convention in Akron, Ohio, in 1851.
In addition to her advocacy for abolition and women’s rights, Truth also championed prison reform and property rights for former slaves. Her tireless work earned her an invitation to the White House by President Abraham Lincoln in 1864.

Good morning all.
Yesterday I got the worst of the leaves ground up on my acre. Still have some more to do.
Shortly, Sherry and I will be taking my old pickup truck to Menards. I still have over $700 left from the 11% rebate on the Generator and I’m using that along with some more money to buy a big tool chest, a Tool Box to go on top, and a work bench and stool to set up in the garage.
I’ll unload that in the garage and then finish the lawn.
After getting cleaned up I go to my brothers house for a poker game.
I slept well last night and I’m pretty sure I’ll sleep even better tonight.
Supposed to rain Wed, and Sherry may need some help with the Thanksgiving fixins so I won’t get back into the garage to start getting things set up until Friday.
Saturday or Sunday I’ll be stocking the wood rack next to the fireplace insert. I like to wait until we’ve had at least a couple hard freezes before bringing it in. Cuts down on the bugs that are trying to hide out in the wood.

I have been taking Ivermectin weekly as a preventative for over 2 yrs. Would be nice to be able to purchase over the counter.
Yes, sure would be nice. In my experience, Ivermectin has been very effective on any virus. We order ours from overseas, but, my government has been seizing some of my orders as it comes into the country – and then they send me a nasty note. Too bad they don’t have something important on which to focus like:
A wide open border
Out of control crime
The cost of living
Exploding debt
Helping Americans in North Carolina etc etc
Where are you?? Here in Buffalo, Texas, we get all we need at the feed store…over the counter. I get it in liquid form (1% solution) and measure 1cc for every 50 lbs. Works just fine squirted into cranberry juice or whatever.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. “RENEW OUR MINDS, LORD” – Amen to that. Which is similar to the verse “Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; Renew our days as of old.” Lamentations 5:21 (KJV) What does it mean though (days of old) On one level (there are others) it is interpreted to mean when all the public of Israel were standing in front of Mt Sinai – for a moment (not sure how long) the entire public, including Moses “saw” the voice of God. It would be like close to a million people in like a great stadium being saved all at once – at the highest level. The energy would have been tremendous. Now in that “time” they ALL experienced total “renewal” “Renew our minds, Lord”. – another refers to the “time” before “time” IE before creation, (days of old) when everything, including our souls were one with God. Which is precisely what our faith is all about, isn’t it 🙂
…..and that is precisely our problem, our lack of faith – just like it slowly deserted Israel back then – the rest (the scriptures) is written for all to learn from. We just keep going in circles, like 40 years in the desert, until we learn/find/surrender/accept that we aren’t really driving the bus. Hey, it ain’t always so easy (faith) especially when most of the time, you can’t see the driver – or the road. 🙂

My friend, now long departed was John Philips of The Mama’s and Papa’s. He went from the joys of “Monterey Pop Festival” organizer and performer ( I was there 🙂 ) to a man just totally lost to the horrors of drug addiction. ( please do not ask how I know ).
I was able to spend some terrific times with him during periods of lucidity, juxtaposed to alternating periods of depravity and then later illness.
He was a good guy. Just really messed up.
His daughter, Laurie, – with whom I grew up – and has her own sordid remembrances! that have made it into print, are no secret, became A TV star on the program “One Day At A Time” and changed her name to McKenzie Phillips ( whatever ).
She would occasionally stop by my house on her lunch break. I believe she would make it back to CBS’ Television City afterwards but who knows? Until she no longer was able to hide her own addiction. I am far from the one to blame. If you know “her story” it makes mine almost pale by comparison.
Almost.
But she is a survivor – and God love her for it! Her father John? Not so much.

I was enjoying it and given I went to that weekend it ( like everything lately ) brought back some really cool memories. Eric sang about Brian Jones and called him “Prince Jones” in the song first time I ever noticed! I thought that was hilarious.
I remember I was a kid of 10.5 that weekend, and when I first saw Brian Jones he had the worst barbiturate type black eye circles that it was eerie and he was always wearing these then de riguer Moroccan sheep wool like coats. I had one lol…

The deer come down from the mountain to our property when they run low on food and water. We have several watering troughs in the pastures for them and they munch on my favorite trees and plants! I talk to them asking them to stay here and safe, but……..
I always have purchased copy paper in the 10-ream box to get better value. Because I purchase 10 ream boxes, I don’t run out of it very often, obviously.
Last summer, I had run out. Completely. So I went to Walmart to purchase my usual 10 ream box, and nearly choked. It was $27 plus change. Pretty horrifying when I knew what I had usually paid, so I felt very conflicted, and was tempted to just buy a ridiculously expensive single ream. Then I remembered that under the bideneconomy prices were only going to go up, so I went ahead and paid the $27 for ten reams.
Today I happened to walk by the display where the 10 ream boxes were stocked. The same 10 ream box is now $49. After I walked by, I thought, “Surely I saw that wrong….” So I went back to check for sure. Yup. $49.
It’s always been a bad idea to put ignorant people, who are also liars, in charge of anything.
I have known that for a very long time, but never before have there been so examples of why it is true.
Office Depot has an ad out that one can purchase a 10-ream carton of paper for $49 IF you also spend $150 on other items at the same time! Walmart seems like the better deal.
