A predictable, pragmatic and very reasonable outcome of the U.N. dynamic. President Trump has nominated Elise Stefanik to be the U.S Ambassador to the United Nations.
The U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. has a representative role within many topics and matters of geopolitical concern. However, if we are to be entirely non-pretending, the primary role of the U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. is to protect the nation state of Israel from global geopolitical attacks. Stefanik is an excellent choice.

This nomination will permit President Trump to deflect internal criticism for the pending solution toward the Israel-Hamas war.

Governors can name a replacement to fill out the term of a Senator who has been “pulled out” of the Senate to serve in another capacity (see Obama, Loeffler, et al. for example).
In the case of Representatives, a special election must be called by the governor, to be held within 90 days.
As far as Stefanik, her district is very red and will likely elect another Republican to take her place, but their MAGA creds will still be in question, IMO.

The States govern their ways of filling vacant Federal & State congressional seats. Some require special elections within a certain number of days, some just require elections for the seat to be held at that state’s next scheduled election and some states allow the Governor to appoint the replacement. Where a Governor appointment is allowed, the term can be very short(to fill out the elected’s term) if it’s a mid-term appointment or if newly elected a full term.
Elise hails from a solid Conservative/MAGA district. No worries. President Trump wouldn’t have chosen her if that weren’t the case.
If you trust NYS govt. to play fair here you need some help. Corrupt to the core and held by the deep state, Hochul the tool will be told to do all she can to grab that seat. If we lose the House, the Trump agenda gets derailed and harassment begins again with impeachment, road blocks lawsuits etc for the President. I do not see this as a positive in any way. NYS is the pit for corrupt politics and the repubs never win important positions or policies there. It’s as lost a blue state as CA is.

I’m increasingly of the opinion that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will never end in any meaningful way as long as the Palestinians are kept under occupation. Life for the Palestinians under occupation in Gaza was pretty bleak even before the war, and life for Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem seems almost as bleak. A two state solution would seem to be the obvious solution, but the Israelis, particularly under the current government, have no intention of agreeing to that because they are intent on annexing these territories to greater Israel, and on annexing these territories absent their Palestinian inhabitants. I don’t know if Trump can even get Netanyahu to agree to a cease fire without cutting off Israel’s economic and military aid because Netanyahu wants this war to keep going. He clearly would actually like to expand it to include Iran and drag us into it so we can do the heavy lifting for him. Given the power of the Israel lobby, I dont know if there’s anything Trump can do (or would be willing to do) to stop the Israelis from leading us around by the nose.

1) Rubio would have been chair of Senate Intelligence. He’s a lightweight, and would have been “turned out” by the IC. If I had to guess, Tom Cotton might get that position now There are some legitimate questions about Cotton, but I’ll take him over Lil’ Marco.
2) It sort of looks like Grennel will end up an important player in the IC, maybe CIA director or back as DNI. The IC is ground zero for the rot.
3) It opens up a senate seat in Florida. Hey Meatball, say the words”I appoint Byron Donalds as Florida’s next US Senator!
4) I don’t know that Marco can hold on to the job that long. Remember Trump’s first SoS? Most people can’t, but it was an imbecile by the name of Rex Tillerson. In short, I don’t think DJT has a lot of fondness or respect for the people at “Foggy Bottom”!

There isn’t the margin in the house to be taking any blue-state Republicans out of it. House is looking like, at best, it might be R + 2 or 3. Hochul appoints a Democrat pending a special election, then you hope you can win an R+20 congressional district. Congressional Republicans in blue states should be off limits for the time being.

OK, but the UN at large has broadly been denounced as worthless corrupt broken and power hungry, and it would be better to just get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US and use our 12 billion annual support funding for a better purpose. No more of this crap about US authority over americans because of pandemic or otherwise, move them off US soil over to europe. Don’t let the door hit you. As far as Israel is concerned, they need to build out the IDF as a right-now, real-world deterrent to foreign aggression, so they can act promptly and independently if attacked. Inviting Hamas back into Gaza is a recipe for continuous war in the Middle East. If I understand the Trump doctrine, it is to prevent mindless wars, especially in the ME. Hamas has lost its place in society forever given what they did on the 7th of October 2023.
Inviting Hamas back into Gaza is the equivalent of inviting all of Hitler’s general staff back into Germany after WWII. It is not a recipe for peace but for continuous war on the Jews and Christians of Israel.
