Hmm. PDJT is the former president and current nominee. Formerly vs. currently. Any chance DeSantis was simply making that distinction? Perhaps his word usage was intended to point out the significance of PDJT’s place in history vs. an attempt to diminish it? I realize this isn’t the place to be a non-hater of DeSantis, but sometimes y’all really go ’round the bend with this stuff, and I’m compelled to say something. I would think we’d all have more important things to think, feel, and do at the moment.
I agree with you regarding the “formerly vs. currently” usage. When I first read the post, I didn’t understand why the word current was underlined in red. However, I do think DeSantis should have used President Trump’s name. Show some respect.
You could say “current nominee” to give it more weight–or “current” as in “temporary”.
Problem is, it seems like they were all sitting around the Republican Convention last time, awaiting “good news”.

I am not surprised at the use of current president by Governor DeSantis. I’ve known him since 1911 when he was campaigning for the first time. He was a neighbor, and I ended up supporting his candidacy for Congress. We used to correspond often and talk on the phone sometimes. During the 1996 election year I kept telling him Trump was going to win while he was supporting Ted Cruz. Even after Trump won, somehow, I noticed DeSantis never said his name. He kept referring to Trump as “our candidate”, “our nominee”. One day I finally said to him: Say the name: Donald Trump! I always thought that was very strange. It seems to me now DeSantis has always been an Establishment Republican and he resented Trump as an outsider, not part of the Party.

Curious why he didn’t say “our nominee.” Does he know something we don’t? A little slip of the tongue? There’s just too many coincidences with these assassination attempts. In this case I think the context is important. Had he simply said “current nominee” without reference to his former status as president, that would be very curious indeed. But “current” here is in relation to “former” president. The “current” was not needed, but it adds stylistic completeness.
That’s what I thought. Didn’t read anything else into it. Not that I trust DeSantis, but he seems to be fighting for election integrity at least!
To me the message says “The deeps state is worried that the public will not trust any investigation we piece together. Therefore, we are directing an ally to launder our investigative work through them so that more of the public will trust whatever the findings may be.”
But they can’t help themselves. If DeSantis wanted to be credible, he wouldn’t have used language which is effectively a reply back to that derp state agreeing to cover up the crimes going on.
DeSantis is a little man in stature and an even smaller man inside.

The first assassination attempt the message from the deep state was….”We can take you out at any political rally you hold in any venue in any state.” This most recent assassination attempt, the message is……”You failed to head our first message, we can reach out and touch you anywhere including on your own property and in your own home, the next time they won’t miss.” The deep state/IC/Uniparty mobsters are sending a very dark and ugly message to get PDJT to back down. I have now doubt that their next move is to attack someone close to him in order to scare him into dropping out of the race. These people in the Deep State are evil personified. I pray for PDJT’s protection daily now.
Your analysis is very prescient. The only thing that gives me pause is that in Pennsylvania, they came within 1/4 inch and 1/2 a second of a fatal head shot. No sniper in the world it THAT good, to intentionally knick a President in the head without killing them, just to send a message. So I think Pennsylvania was the main event, they meant to kill him, and just in time to install Nikki/Desantis at the convention before Republican voters could react. I have questions about DeSantis, but officially, that is President Trump’s actual position.
If it were only “current candidate” it would be suspicious. Paired with “Former president” AND “current candidate” just underscores the high value of the attempt. This descriptor was used several times following the first attempt in Butler.
I wouldn’t read more into the choice of words than is merited.
The only hope that we have of getting to the facts regarding the second assassination attempt on PDJT is that Ron Desantis uses the Florida AG and state law enforcement to investigate. Desantis wants to be a hero and the attention that would come from such an investigation. Plus it would put him in good standing with PDJT. Some of the important questions to be answered are:
1. Motivation of Routh.
2. How did a convicted felon get the rifle?
3. Where did Routh get his money? He’s unemployed and has been for sometime. Air fare from Hawaii isn’t cheap.
4. What NGO paid Routh’s expenses to go to Ukraine?
5. Who inside the Secret Service or the Trump organization told Routh the day and time Trump would be playing golf?
