Very sorry to hear about your loss. We too lost our beloved cat of 8 years just last Wednesday. We took her in as a rescue 8 years ago from an abusive home. She was in poor health all 8 years and I had to take her in for her finale visit.
It has been incredibly hard to deal with for both of us. We nursed that poor cat the entire time she was with us and we felt responsible for her. It really hurts but in the end, it was best for her.
We understand your grief and why you may feel the need for an apology.

The only thing that helps me is thanking God for allowing me to see His love through them for a whole 16 years!
In addition to the love of my parents and my daughter, she has been a constant of my post-marital life, adopted in the last year of marriage in 2010. Of the nearly 8 or 10 cats I have ‘sponsored’, she was the most attached to me and the most loving.
In her day, she was the ALPHA female, and only male cats could be tolerated to also live at my home.
Am down to 1 one large, vocal, and affectionate black male cat.
