Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

“Uh, yeah, honey? I’ll be held up for a while”
He got “Jinxed”..
Good morning, Nimrod. These have got to be my favorite!
Did you move yet? Weren’t you moving to the mainland? Good morning, or evening, to you wherever you are!
mornin’ JWoo – no, not moved yet, still tossing stuff out in prep for packing
How much could one own in Hawaii? Bermuda shorts, bathing suit, flip flops, and suntan lotion, right? Mahalo. Not sure I could move. Let’s trade. You come here. LOL
“What’s on TV? Funny – same as last night”
Mulit-functional furniture – love it love it!
We looked at a bed at Ashley Furniture for my daughter – and it was farmhouse style with three big cubbies built into the foot board with sliding barn door style doors. My daughter desperately wanted it so we could put three cat beds in for each of our boys. ROFLOL – it was too expensive, so couldn’t happen, but I love our multi-functional use of furniture!
JWoo,
Understand. My son has a captains bed with doors and drawers on one side and space on opposite side for anything. I like it, may get my own.
Space saving, utilitarian – love it!
Purrr-fect use for a 1950s Motorola television ……
Wow…cute names…
Instant herd!
And there is not one named Bubbles? LOL!
There should definitely be one named Bubbles – Good morning, Aggie.
Good morning, Bets – you were up so late last night.
The only scar I own is a 2 1/2 inch one on my right hand – from being curious and wanting to pet equally curious cows! I was petting one and went to pull my hand away and got it caught on barbed wire. Didn’t hurt, but boy did it bleed.
Worth it. I love cows.
See below…😘
Repeat post just for you, JWoo😘
I do love this post. LOL
👍🏻🤗😁
Me too, JWoo. Years ago I had a black angus milk cow. Being a beef cow and not technically a milk cow we only got about 3 gallons a day of milk. The upside was if she had a heifer we would sell it and if she had a bull calf we would keep it for meat. I loved milking. It was very relaxing.
Depending upon how big your family was – 3 gallons of milk might be all you need. Sounds idyllic, Patty. You have some great homestead stories – horses, now cows. Perfect bringing up… in my opinion.

God morning, Patience and Ma!
God day, JWoo hoooo❣️
TRUTH!!!!💕
“if you can live it in your own way”
Pretty sure you have to be quite wealthy to live how you WANT to live. If not, we are always slave to the task master. You just hope to have a good master and not an evil Pharoah.
In your “won” way.
🤔
Wow…. did not READ that as won… strange
I often (too often) type hte instead of the on a keyboard.
“Won” isn’t a mistake, you winner you❣️

Hahaha!!! Morning, P and Ma!!😁💕😁💕
Hi Patience! Funny you should mention GMO. See my post to Betsy. ❤️
Hello there. Pa❣️
I’ll look.
God afternoon, GrandpaM
Afternoon Jwoo!
They are really nice looking calves. Wonder what the male/female rate was. Having milked Holstein cows a long time I can say that she is a really nice looking cow. Looks like she has lots of milk. Was always glad to deliver one nice healthy calf, wouldn’t want to have this many at once. Poor mom must have been really BIG before delivery. Made lots of butter and home made ice cream from their cream and milk. Miss that but don’t miss all the farm work.
My parents knew about farming. I heard from a neighbor that there are mini cows?
Yes. One breed are called Dexter cows. They look like angus but are just half the height and size! Great for those with a couple acres. Just enough milk for a family and much cheaper to feed.
Like – maybe one could have a Dexter as a pet??? Hmmmm???? LOL
I’m sure you could. Get them young and handle them, brush them, take them treats and they’ll be your friend. They can be a little more pricey.
Morning, Marti. And it IS work. My grandparents had a farm in Illinois long ago and wanted their son, my dad, to follow. He did not want to, instead desiring a career in medicine. They wouldn’t/couldn’t fund it, so for a year after graduating, on the farm he stayed. Until his aunt, bless her, chipped in so he could go to medical school. He paid her back every single penny.
An interesting side story…
In Britain there are such things as Public Footpaths, some of which run through farmer’s fields where they keep their livestock. And by law, ramblers, hoards of them every weekend, are allowed to hike on them.
There are some really hard nosed ones who will insist for pure bloody mindedness on pursuing their “right” to go wherever they please on those long ago delineated paths, never mind upsetting a farmer’s livestock, and so go through those fields…opening but not closing gates, worrying cows.
Who, in spite of being warned, have no clue how dangerous to themselves their selfish actions can be. Especially if there is a cow with a calf. In the season there are many of those mothers who will not tolerate intrusion.
And every year there are stories of dead ramblers whose “rights” to go where they pleased weren’t recognized by the cows they disturbed. Sad but completely predictable.
Betsy, where about in Illinois?
DeKalb/Batavia…my grandparents after they called it a day on farming settled in Aurora before ultimately retiring to Palmetto, Florida, Patience.
Nice area
That was in the 30s and 40s. I think things have changed, no? Certainly with Aurora.
Change? Oh… uh, yes.
Was mostly farms with blink your eyes and you’ve driven though the downtown.
There’s still open land and some small farmland, but houses have been going up especially about 30 years ago; subdivisions on good size lots. There are loads of large shopping centers. Most importantly, you can see trees and sky, lots of sky.
Many of the modest – but nice- homes are on lovely acre plus lots .
Batavia, Geneva…. Real nice areas. St Charles is near there and has an interesting history; easy web search.
Aurora is YUGE with various kinds of communities. Lots on nice places.
How ironic… and interesting that you noted Illinois in your comment and that I inquired where…
AND that your grandparents were in the Batavia / Geneva area ( of all places!);
as just yesterday,
I watched a documentary in which Batavia / Geneva played a key role.
I posted the link earlier on presidential thread related to a “ women” comment.
Check this out:

Thanks, Patience! Will read. Looks very interesting. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
My great grandparents lived in Geneva. Immigrants from Sweden.
Lots of Swedes were there.
Still celebrate Swedish Days.
Little History

A day behind in reading CTH, but the Fox Valley still is a nice area. Geneva has their Swedish days festival this weekend. Also many Dutch, Belgian & German immigrants settled in the valley.
Unfortunately, the Chicago issues are moving further west as the Willowbrook incident making national news this past week.
Afternoon, Betsy.
My BIL was helping put the cows back into pasture after being milked. One of the cows went after him, chasing him around the car. He climbed up on the roof of the car to get away from her and yelled for help, the cow was going to follow him onto the car. We came out of the barn with brooms and chased her out into the pasture. BIL was shook up but not hurt.
I would not have wanted people wondering thru our pastures. The cows know when it is someone that doesn’t belong there and they will all try to check out the trespasser, running and jumping around him. Easy to get hurt in that situation.
hurt or dead…
I’d say on top of the car was the safest place for your brother in law. Phew!
Nor would I want people in my pastures, But in Blighty, Public Footpaths are sacrosanct. Ramblers rights trump a farmer’s. Cray cray…
If they’re pictured in order left to right by name then Meeny is mean because it got the lesser of the forehead spots.
Hahahahaha!!!!!
Afternoon Bet! In other news we keep rolling down the hill towards the very hot place. The days of Noah are here.
Now instead of gene modification they are calling it genome editing.

“In early May, Washington State University (WSU) announced that the FDA had authorized gene-edited pigs from the College of Veterinary Medicine to be processed for human consumption—in this specific case.
The FDA authorization was limited to five pigs whose genomes were altered in such a way as to allow researchers to use the animals to sire offspring with traits from another male pig.
Dr. Jon Oatley, a professor in the School of Molecular Biosciences in WSU’s veterinary college, said in a statement, “The original intent in making these animals was to try to improve the way that we feed people. And we can’t do that unless we can work with the FDA system to get these animals actually into the food chain.”

Sorry for the double post. Don’t know how it happened.
GrandpaM, I’ve caught that happening to me many times over the past 3 months, never before then.
Whatever it is, it seems to occur if you do any editing or copy / pasting in the reply block. I’ve found that once I do any editing in a post, I have to pause and review the entire comment in the block before posting so as to catch and delete any duplicate “repeats”…
It’s some kind of obscure glitch in the site software that runs the Comment section, but I don’t think it’s a major problem and would probably take a while to track down to fix.
I was editing when that happened and didn’t catch it. thank you for the info.
👍
Be glad, GB and G, you guys did t do what I did once.
I was trying to copy A comment t I made on one thread to post on another.
Instead, I copied every single comment I’ve ever made on this site…how I do not know…and posted, thinking it was only the only one. YIKES!!!!
Thankfully, bless-ed Ad rem obviously knew it was a screw up of major proportions and intercepted…boy! Was my face A lovely shade of crimson😬
That is so strange. How did you copy every comment you have ever made on this site? How would one filter this site to be capable of doing that?
Or do you keep every single one of your comments elsewhere?
Afternoon, bro.💕
This he been following this for ages. It is not good. In fact apparently pigs have been genetically altered for some time and the public hasn’t been told. By now if I’m what I’ve read, most all of us have eaten pork from DNA altered pigs.
Next up beef, which the National Beef Producers seem just fine with. I have seen a couple of cattlemen say if MRNA injections are ordered for cattle, they will be shutting down their operations…full stop. My gosh, G!!! What evil walks amongst us??
We are living in perilous times, dear sister. ❤️😍
They are, dearest brother. I do not see how there are millions who do not see it…at all.💕🤔
Even more disturbing, Betsy… pig thyroid is used to make Armour. It affects our medications.
I recently switched to Armour to avoid synthetic Levothyroxine.
I remember when I was young and doing a project in school about cloning Dolly the sheep – how controversial it was – and the Tower of Babel (in a PUBLIC school) – now the hubris on being man-made gods – is disturbing to say the least.
Wonder how many people they have cloned? You know they have.
Can you say DARPA.
Yes I can. I can also say Ralph Baric and his colleagues who along with him have sold their souls for a mess of worthless potage. Or it will be when they leave this earth as they surely will.
I don’t know the answer to your question but I DID like the 1996 comedy based on human cloning, “Multiplicity” that starred Michael Keaton and Andie MacDowell. 😁
Awww! One has to love these marine biologist types!
What you do for those who cannot pay you back, is all I need to know about a person!
That’s a sweet sentiment, Aggie … thx for voicing
Bug zapper?
Nice one!
Ultimate oxymoron. Rocket stove-VW bus.. morning all
Yep, that’s me exactly.
Absolutely!
True, I have known several “self-taught” that were REALLY knowledgeable, one only had a 6th grade (formal) education.
And yes, he used it correctly, but mispronounced “ennui”.
Growing up, I read the girls name penelope, phonetically, and heard people SAY the name, wasn’t till I was older I realised it was the same.
Mark Steyn has what most Americans would call only a high school education, but in Britain. Not in any way equivalent.
Ellen Degeneres, the famous and well read academic, once mocked and sneered at him for that.
When Mark was enrolled at St Edward’s School in Birmingham, he was assigned a Greek dictionary that had belonged at one time to JRR Tolkein…yes, he had classes in Greek as well as Latin.
Poorly educated most unfamiliar with him would say. But I suspect those who call Mark that are ones he has famously labeled “over credentialed, under educated”
And so it goes…more fool Ms Degeneres. I wonder if she reads.🤔
Back in the 60s, when I was in high school college prep classes, we were required to take both Greek and Latin.
How far we’ve fallen, patty. And served our children not at all well.
Ellen DeGenerate is an academic? I don’t think so.
Mark Steyn is brilliant, witty, and adorable!
Off Topic:
“P.S.” My mom grew up on a farm near Monmouth, Illinois.
My great grandparents had several farms. My great aunts had their own farms as single (divorcee ladies). Feisty women in the family — born over 100 years ago.
My step-mom’s name was Penelope. She went by Poppy, but she pronounced her full name as “Pennel-lope”.
Sorta related…how is the Italian last name couch pronounced? I always get hung up on the single words. Thanks.
calliope, or jackalope, and a few variations thrown in to confuse. Like the former, the name comes out of ancient Greece. So they break many English language conventions. Such as silent e, and which vowels are long or short.
One day, my mother in law with a razor sharp brain who taught English to high schoolers in a small central Texas town, started the conversation about what words she read but wanted to pronounce another way, just for fun.
Rendezvous was one. She said every time she saw it she was dying to pronounce it “ren-dez-vows”, accent on the first syllable.
And so after that when we’d all added words we felt the same about, we always pronounced it the way she saw it. If anyone had heard us, they would have thought we were plum ignorant😁
One more….
When my granddaughter, now 15 and a grammar pedant just like me (how on EARTH did she get like that?😎), was tiny, she used to say she was “comfty”, not comfy.
On thinking about it, we decided she was absolutely correct and the rest of the world was completely wrong in its pronunciation and had been forever..
So now “comfty” it is for now and always😉
I remember when I was a kid asking mum about rendezvous. Also contraindicated. When she corrected my pronunciations, I no longer needed a definition.
Hey, Rach!! Good (multiple choice) night/ almost morning for you, dear friend💕 Hahaha. How funny!!
My father in law, a Brit was watching the old movie Carousel on telly. He said, “Hey look, Chris!! Ca-ROUSAL!!”
We had to go look to see what on earth he was watching!😂😂😂
Good afternoon/evening Betsy. I hope all is well with you ♥️
That message I sent was in the middle of the night here. I woke up and when I didn’t get back to sleep I stuffed around online for a bit. Now I’m up properly. Showered and dressed with two cats on my lap. Waiting for my laundry to hang out before I go up to the shops.
That’s a great story about your father in law. I will try to remember to tell my mum. She would enjoy that.
Mum’s second language is English and she is excellent at it. My first and only language is English and I’m rubbish. I got it from my dad. Except that English is maybe about his fourth or fifth language, so he has a better excuse than me 😂
I used to be excellent at maths – but now that I’m middle aged, I can’t remember much of it. But that’s definitely where my brilliance once was.
Well then ,good morning, dear lady and friend🤗
Same for you as happened to me in the early morning hours. Just could NOT drift off. So tea and a visit here.
Laundry day for me as well…
Dear Gussie, Rach! So your dad has a propensity for languages. Oh how I wish I did. It is a gift, no question. Look at our First Lady Melania…she has 5 if I remember correctly. Can you imagine how many their son Barron will be speaking?
I have a few words on several languages and that’s it. Told our three brands nearest to us to do themselves a huge favour and become conversational in Spanish…pretty soon, of not now, they will be minorities in their own country.
Hope the new abode and the new job are going well still, girl😁
Dad’s languages were from where he lived. And moved to. I don’t think it would otherwise be one of his skills. He’s more like me in his thinking – logic and maths rather than language and arts.
I couldn’t do tea at night. It keeps me up – but I know others like you who will have it before sleep.
Work and home is all good. Just been shopping, and I hate it. I need new jeans, but everything I’ve found is just not quite right. Still a few more shops to check out before I quit in crankiness 😂
At the age of 8, I read a book about a WW2 submarine chase that was really exciting. One evening at the dinner table I eagerly told my father about the story. When he asked me the title of the book I replied “Submarine Ren-dezz-vus” (phonetically).
He about choked on his mouthful, trying not to laugh. When I looked at my mom, she was grinning from ear to ear, looking at dad.
“What’s funny?” I asked. They proceeded to gently explain that rendezvous was a French word pronounced “ron-day-voo.” I remember being momentarily surprised and embarrassed but they both said that I had pronounced it perfectly with using phonetics, but that French didn’t follow the phonetic rules that worked for English. So that was my humbling introduction to French – which I subsequently took for 3 years in high school.
Hahahahahahahahaaaaa!!!
I’m feeling your embarrassment, GB.
I’m struggling to remember the word I badly mispronounced (can’t at the moment) in front of a good friend, a British bobby, whose whole life was reading and learning languages (last count 8, I believe).
He called me out on it and laughed… I would have welcomed one of those sink holes that appear in Florida, though because we were in Wales there was no chance of it.
And so while the word I mispronounced I’ve forgotten, I’ll never forget how stupid I felt.
Yep. It was a humbling lesson on foreign language pronunciation. God bless my patient and loving parents who have long been gone and in Jesus’ eternal care. They didn’t mock me at all and, looking back, I completely understand their initial reaction at the time.
👍
nice … there’s a pipe organ in Manila, Philippines … they do special concerts heavy on Bach
Good taste 🙂
God morning, Garrison.
Mornin’ darlin’ 🙂 Be well.
Another night when Mr Sandman bypassed my house, Garrison…
But if he had to choose a night, which better than the one where you’ve posted these. Bach and a cup of tea…all is well💕
Go to sleep, Go to sleep, Go to sleep my dear Betsy!
Oh golly, Rob. I can’t now….I’m too busy laughing😂😂😂.
Bless you so much, my friend. Toddling off to gwelli now. Good night…😊
Sweet dreams fair lady. I’m headed back to bed also after letting the dogs out and then back in after doing their things.
… and a smile to start the new day….thanks, rah. You are a scholar and a gentleman😊💕
Git yerself some sleep!
I wish I could…..
Anyway, for when you wake up:

Good morning, everyone – what is this? A late-night meeting I missed the memo on?
(Greg1 – parking this comment here to nest it with all you all! Giving a little status update as well as salutations!)
I rose early – but went to bed at 11 PM. I had time this morning before work to check in with our tree dwellers. Always fun to see you all.
We are having some struggles with the school conversion. Kiddo is having issues with attentiveness and not allowing herself to get distracted with other things (and I was on the other side of the wall!)
The Study Skills course she is taking is top notch and I love EVERYTHING about the new online school (The Potter’s School – for anyone needing something exemplary!) Daughter loves the course – loves, loves it – so it is not about disinterest in the material. Technology has just really caused these kids to be easily diverted then sucks them into a black hole that they have a hard time escaping!
Coupled with my kiddo having learning impairments. We both are really concerned with her keeping up with the aggressive curriculum and trying to balance my work with her educational needs is terribly challenging as a single parent. She needs help with focus and organizing and I simply can’t sit next to her all day to monitor everything.
The way it stands she has enough credits to possibly graduate mid-term senior year – but still wants to do some of the electives offered by TPS – so we may go hybrid. Tough out 1 1/2 more years of public horrible high school – but enroll her in one night course of the online school and maybe two over the summer and fill up her final semester of Senior year with the electives she wants – Teaching the Bible course, the law and history courses. She would be way over the mark in credits – but it is more for experience and her desire to learn things that interest her.
Also, there are troubles with my job and its leadership. Some days it is really hard to support it and it’s run by someone who is not a good leader. We have massive turnover and it jeopardizes all of us. If I have to leave it – it upsets the whole apple cart of homeschooling and my availability for her needs.
It really takes two people and that’s why God created a mom and a dad for a child.
At about $9,000 over the course of 2 years for curriculum – it is too much to risk for us. We need to find a home – and it likely may not be here. No matter what happens with school – if we have a home – she will at least inherit that.
Daughter and I are both learning about sticking to hard things.
We are not 100% yet – in either direction – things can change in a matter of weeks. (I dread sending her back to public school – dread it.) The online school even has a MUCH shorter year – third week of August to first week of May roughly – which is highly desirable. I am torn and pleading with God to show me what He wants me to do.
She’s still doing great with her job and I know that it is these things that matter most. I can’t tell you how blessed I am that we have been able to have 9 years of private education thus far- even if only 8 of them were productive. The two years of public have been hell, but she’s grown fortitude to try to outlast the 1 1/2 years left leaning fully on her strong faith.
Ok, well now, you see, much loved JWoo-Hoo and Savannnah, here comes the moment when my prayers that all these pieces of the jigsaw puzzle which is life…and at the moment yours, my friend…start coming together.
I have learned this from having been in a situation where I am looking at the the box, and yet am seeing all those disjointed pieces lying disconnected on the table wondering how on this earth I will ever be able to put the complete picture together.
Dare I say it??
But God!!
And looking back, it still amazes me…will always amaze me…that His guiding hand miraculously placed each one together in a manner so timely that I can only attribute the finished picture to Him and Him alone…it certainly wasn’t coincidence which made it happen.
Which is how I expect He is working in your lives, though at the moment you don’t have the overview that He does.
Bless, my friend. And love always of course. And watch out!! Here come those prayers for you both who are precious in His sight. He knows what you need and will provide 😘🙏🏻👍🏻🌻
Betsy,
You are awake?! Thought you might slumber in a bit longer this morning since you were manning the treehouse saloon last night. Hope an afternoon siesta might be in your plans – they are very cathartic when one can maneuver a nap into the busy schedule.
How is Chris doing – and your medical appointments have been successful?
Awake, yes!! Wide!!
First cup of tea done, and Chris, through the miracle of a brilliant, compassionate doctor is back to excellent health! On his way to Lowes for air filters. Never ever thought either of us would see a day such as this. It truly is a miracle! And we are SO grateful and lift our thankful praises to God above!🙏🏻 You are sweet to ask…
We will see about a nap but I don’t believe one will be necessary. It is said the older one gets the less sleep is needed. Margaret Thatcher operated on about 4 hours a night you know. I’m no MT, but if she can do it? So can I…for one day at least😁 Coffee next…💕
That is truly TERRIFIC news!!! Full steam ahead! Perculators unite!
😁
Never mind coffee beans….
Let’s have TOE BEANS!!
(even if you can barely see them😉)
My very favorite BEANZZZZ!!!
😁!!
Prayers up for God to guide you in understanding what He wants you to do. God Bless You JWoo.
Thank you, Marti – we are actively seeking His Will. Looking for His NEON sign. Incidentally – I found some other posts on an online forum yelling to GET YOUR KIDS OUT OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS!!! That’s pretty close to neon.
Understand the distraction of online learning. It was hard in college. However, if it was available in elementary school, I would have used this method of learning. Good Luck.
It is truly an excellent method – as per my posts further on this thread. I believe it will certainly be more popular in the future. Think about all the money saved on brick and mortar. However, children do need socialization with their cohorts. If folks can find other means through athletics, theater, jobs. Kids LOVE to learn.
Hi’ya (again) ‘Woo. Have you given any thought to a GED for Savanna? I’d like to see you guys get finished with the high-school phase as soon as you can. Yes, a GED is an expedient, but it is something deliberately intended to be an expedient.
I’d like to see your daughter taking college level courses at a community college rather than fighting with an uncaring HS . The sooner she can get out from under HS, the better. Also a GED would be lots cheaper than the 9k tuition. Community colleges accept GEDs the same way they accept HS diplomas. So do most 4 year colleges and universities.
Sadly, special needs students continue to be more or less marginal in the schooling process. Classes generally come with performance expectations that conflict with cognitive deficits like autism, dyslexia, and ADHD. ADA laws require schools to allow “reasonable accommodations” for students with disabilities.
I think I’ve mentioned that, in addition to being dyslexic, I’m also ADD so I know all about “zoning” out and getting distracted when I’m supposed to be working. Still happens to me to this day. Having extra time (I took “incompletes” in most of my courses) proved to be essential tools for me. Similarly, I found that breaking study sessions into smaller components allowed me to find a balance that worked—doing that meant that my comprehension went way up.
What I’m describing here are the kinds of “adaptive strategies” that helped me. I discovered them on my own but, now fortunately, most schools (including Potter) have specialists who understood this stuff in ways that simply didn’t exist back-in-the-day.
Ask your daughter to try breaking her study sessions into smaller blocks. When she starts to get distracted it’s time to take a break and then return a bit later. The common problem with ADD and ADHD is that affected individuals are real good as getting distracted but find it difficult to return to their learning tasks. That’s were developing adaptive strategies can come in.
Excellent suggestion Garrison, I taught for 35 yrs…finding different tract for certain students works wonders…
🇺🇸💪😀👍
40 and-a-bit for me, Jim. It’s been an interesting experience seeing learning disabilities from both a student’s and teacher’s standpoint. A lot of the time, I felt like a pied-piper or a cheerleader since I was often the only faculty member who even knew what “LD” or dyslexia was. It’s only natural for people to cling to familiar orthodoxy but something as simple as allowing extra time to complete assignments can mean the difference between success or failure. I was happy to be able to share that information with my colleagues.
Had one dyslexic student when I moved up to Williston area…learned a lot from him..had good relationship 😀👍…another thing with me was making models.. one SS school session we made Solar System.. Dinosaurs… kids picked one out ..had to read about and present report… worked well 🤣🤣👍…one of students made Pterodactyl that blew me away.. 😂😂👍… there is definitely a lot of talent that gets lost…☹️
🇺🇸💪😀👍
Garrison and Jim –
You are right on point. When learning is made FUN, INTERACTIVE, and three dimensional – these kids are so much more enthusiastic. One of the 2 minute breaks – the teacher was telling a private story about his chickens that he raises in Kansas – and my daughter chose to stay online rather than take the break because she wanted to hear his stories.
She’s got kids from California, Canada, one was in Europe – all taking same class together – which does amazing things for making our world a smaller place and engaging the kids in geography.
They were all “AMEN”ing together – laughing together. Graduation is in Pennsylvania and they can all go and experience summer camp there. We totally love it.
Lord, have mercy. Just typing about it – I’m a pendulum vacillating between the two. I really really HATE that our politicians have messed up education so badly. It is such a disservice to our children.
Hi Garrison –
Thank you for the advice. I have not looked into a GED program. Couple things: She does not test well and she would still have SAT and ACT that she needs to go through. I enrolled her in a prep course last summer and will likely need to do it again.
The thought of getting her a GED likely by means of standardized testing – is scary – as it’s fairly likely she won’t pass it. She does GREAT in the courses themselves – but cumulative testing is problematic.
It’s really not the money – though money is an important factor. It’s time management and me trying to be in two places at one time. We can opt for more night school courses – but then that imposes on her Chick-Fil-A job and I really want to protect that, as it does wonders for her self-esteem.
I agree with you, Garrison – I can’t get her out of high school fast enough.
I will mention that the Potters School – takes mini breaks. Two hours online and she had two or three – 2 minute breaks – where she was specifically instructed to STAND UP, STRETCH, and do something where NO FOCUS was required – no phone, no technology. Walk outside and smell a flower.
We have an AWESOME schedule mapped out – lots and lots of spacing between courses – but the workload is daunting and really what’s scaring the crap out of us. It will be extremely heavy. For every 3 hours online – there is 8 to 10 independent study expected – and that’s with neurotypical minds. Six courses equates to 18 hours online and roughly 50 to 60 hours of independent study – for a neurotypical person. For learning challenged – that can stretch to 14 hours independent study per course.
I can’t speak HIGHLY ENOUGH about The Potters School.
Like she and I discussed – a lot can change in a matter of two or three weeks – so we will see what changes.
Plus, I’m quite concerned about further encroachment into public education by woke culture and hearing that there were attempts to get the jab on the children’s vaccination records – which subsequently appear on teenagers’ high school transcripts. Tell me there won’t be discrimination based upon that!!!!
I don’t want the HS putting limitations on attendance based upon jab status and I don’t trust a single thing they are doing!
The idea of attending online education was all about adaptive strategies – and they are teacher led courses, which are fantastic. I just wish I could be 100% present – because I need to be able to become acquainted with the material and the submission requirements – so that I can guide her properly and make sure she meets bench marks. This is all material I haven’t touched in 30 years. For stay at home Moms or Dads – this is a terrific terrific option.
Maybe I just need to quit my job and live in a mini van at the beach? Sounds better and better every day. I can just Atlas Shrugged right out of this existence. Bliss.
No classes Friday, Saturday or Sunday – but remember – it’s not the online I’m concerned with – it’s the independent study. Chick-Fil-A – no work on Sunday – so a full day of rest – well, a full day of homework.
I need TWO of me. Anyone out there doing a little side cloning???? LOL
First and foremost, ‘Woo. Darlin’ you are doing great. In my long experience, most parents tend to not respond well to the steep learning curve you are moving along with remarkable ease. And, of course, Savanna is obviously a real gem. What an amazing kid! Ahem . . . she sorta reminds me of me . . .
Some observations. The way schools have to deal with students with cognitive deficits are closely governed by the American’s With Disabilities Act. This collection of laws has revolutionized the ways school treat special populations. A major change has been the requirement to grant “reasonable accommodations” to allow students with cognitive deficits to have equal access to education. There is a lot written about this on the ‘net so I won’t write a dissertation here. There’s a lot of good stuff out there.
One thing I’d recommend however is this: contact a couple of college and universities and ask them how they deal with LD students who, because of their cognitive deficits, perform poorly on standardized tests (both ACT and other admission tests and regular classroom exams)? They should have reasonable accommodations in place that are designed to allow students like your daughter equal access despite not doing well on standardized tests.
I once dealt with a HS that would provide a helper who would read standardized test questions to a young client who became overwhelmed trying to decipher written test questions. By being read the test questions he aced a test he probably would have failed.
Another student could instantly solve any Algebra problem without putting a pen to paper. Still, her teacher was failing her because she couldn’t detail the steps she took to solve the problem. Turns out she had a “serial ordering deficit” that was her chief impediment—solving a problem her way was simply an good adaptive strategy . . . I got her transferred to another colleague and guess what? She made a solid B despite having failed half the semester.
The bottom line with reasonable accommodations—you still have to do the work, you are just allowed to do it in a different way that allows you to demonstrate what you know. Colleges and universities now all have special admission practices that will accommodate your daughter’s deficits.
Basically they are designed to offset the “gatekeeper” role of the ACT. Similar comments apply to the GED process. Bottom line: thanks to the ADA and Sect. 5o4, a lot has changed in recent years. There is now a general awareness that cognitively challenged students do poorly on standardized tests. There are now, generally speaking, accepted accommodations that allow students to demonstrate knowledge in alternative ways.
A final question. I don’t recall if I’ve asked this so forgive me if I have — I’m really old, you know. Have you had a psychologist administer a neuro-psych evaluation to your daughter? You sort of sound like you may have but I feel the need to ask. If you have—great! If not you really need to have one done.
Love to you both . . . 🙂
Oh that’s naughty, Greg!!😎 But in an oh so delicious way (wondering where I can find a slice at 6:30 am…😉)
Breakfast cheesecake – now I am wanting quiche.
I’m IN!!!! If O can fond some that is 🤔😏
Quiche as a substitute would do verrrrry nicely!
If I can find…..my fingers aren’t awake, even if the rest of me is😎
Is that a cheesecake invitation, Greg1? Lemme go grab a fork!
Good Morning Greg1, cheesecakes look great. I’ll have one with caramel poured over the top. It will go great with a nice hot cup of tea. Have a great day.
Betsy, we are just the night shift…
sorry about the commercials….
You as well, eh? Oh niiiiice, Aggiegirl! 😉💕
The NL Bach Society is a great find. I put in “pedal passages” in my search and, sure enough, they had some videos showing pedal passages. Pretty cool, I think. 🙂
I adore the Netherlands Bach Society, Garrison, the sine qua non for performances of all works Bach.
I stumbled upon it long ago looking for another group, good but not the NBS. I consider them to be the yard stick by which I measure everyone else.
So any time I see their name beside your nightly posts, I really do feel a tiny frisson knowing I’m in for a very big treat…as last night,my friend. And I thank you for it💞🤗
My go-to-sleep routine now involves imbibing a little good Bourbon sippin’ whisky (Henry McKenna of late—cheap but quite good). Doing that pretty much guarantees a solid 8 hrs. It also lets me imagine being a character in a Faulkner novel . . . 🙂
So you’ve figured out what works for you. Brilliant. As is your participation in one of his novels. Yes indeedy, a glass of a good Bourbon sippin’ whiskey in hand is just the ticket for a fantasy like that😎👍🏻

We could use a plan to somehow make a dent in the damage being done to our nation’s children by the permanent bureaucracies, Hollywood and who knows who else. We don’t have time to get it perfect. We need action to protect some of the children and then some more.

Hi Lafayette,
Good morning. I posted above about a terrific online school – if parents can afford it and invest the time. One of the things we must do as parents is be attentive at who is surrounding them. Trust me – my guts are in acid overdrive on this topic.
If I can help anyone with a SOLUTION – here is one!

My pleasure, Marti. Blessings to you and your grand!
Thank you. I’ll take a look at it.
Let’s make this Friday fun.
The Oyster, by Baxter Black
The sign upon the café wall said OYSTER: fifty cents.
“How quaint,” the blue-eyed sweetheart said with some bewildermence,
“I didn’t know they served such fare out here upon the plain.”
“Oh, sure,” her cowboy date replied, “We’re really quite urbane.”
“I would guess they’re Chesapeake or Blue Point, don’t you think?”
“No ma’am, they’re mostly Hereford cross . . . and usually they’re pink
But I’ve been cold, so cold myself, what you say could be true
And if a man looked close enough, their points could sure be blue!”
She said, “I gather them myself out on the bay alone.
I pluck them from the murky depths and smash them with a stone!”
The cowboy winced, imaging a calf with her beneath,
“Me, I use a pocket knife and yank ‘em with my teeth.”
“Oh my,” she said, “You’re an animal! How crude and unrefined!
Your masculine assertiveness sends a shiver down my spine!
But I prefer a butcher knife too dull to really cut.
I wedge it in on either side and crack it like a nut!
I pry them out. If they resist, sometimes I use the pliers
Or even Grandpa’s pruning shears if that’s what it requires!”
The hair stood on the cowboy’s neck. His stomach did a whirl.
He’d never heard such grisly talk, especially from a girl!
“I like them fresh,” the sweetheart said and laid her menu down
Then ordered oysters for them both when the waiter came around.
The cowboy smiled gamely, though her words stuck in his craw
But he finally fainted dead away when she said, “I’ll have mine raw!”
Ha!! Had the ones he was talking about…once and once only😎
About the size, taste, and texture of chicken gizzards, can be battered and fried or sautéed with onions and served over Texas Toast.
Fried…at someone else’s house. So manners, Southern ones at that, required that I at least taste, smile, and say MMMM MMMMMM MMMMMM!! I just about managed it.
Quoth the raven, “Never no more!”
😅 thanks!
No thank you. Rocky Mountain type lol.

😁 Morning, Michael. Excellent question!
Afternoon! 🙂
Looking at the picture closely…there is no spray or big waves close to her. OR maybe the waterspout is moving laterally or away… But most probably- she fully trusts God to protect her from any harm.
I like your analytical mind! Always working things out! 🙂

Very good! You don’t hear that much, about how God never rebuked Jacob for the matter with the birthright. There was a reason why Rebekah was move to have her son do what he did: the way I see it, God knew what kind of man Esau was; who had no heart for the faith of his father Isaac, nor of his grandfather Abraham. He wanted to be heathen; and so he was passed over in favor of Jacob, who was a man of God. I believe God moves people and circumstances according to His will, and according to what kind He sees that we are.
Good morning all! It is Friday for those of you that still can keep track of what day of the week it is. After awhile when one is retired, the days of the week become irrelevant, except for Sunday and the particular days when things must be done, like trash day.
Yesterday I got Sherry signed up online at My Social Security and downloaded and printed proof of benefit forms and took them to the bank for the home equity line of credit.
Then Dave came over and got that lift on the lift truck working. We took the lift truck a 1/2 mile down the road and fixed a neighbors flag pole while he was at work. His rope had jumped the pully at the truck, just like mine.
Then we came back to Steves place and put sling straps high up in the three trees that we’re going to be taking down. And I was wrong. Two are Chinese elms and one is a locust. Chinese elms hold one heck of a lot of water. Years ago I had a big one taken down in my yard and water, gallons of it, ran out of that tree at the cut. So that wood will probably take more time than the locust to cure to burn well.
I went up in the lift because Steve is a big ole Swede and I, at 200 lb., am lighter.
There was a 60% chance of rain last night and we have not gotten a drop so far. Next forecasted chance for rain is Sunday. We could use another good slow soaker.
water, gallons of it, ran out of that tree at the cut
I saw that on a video clip just yesterday, can’t remember where exactly
Trees cut this time of year while the sap is up can take a very long time to dry out. Might be next heating season before that wood is dry not this year. Best option is to cut firewood in the fall after sap is down in temperate climates. It will speed drying if you cut to length and split as you are planning.
I’ll let that Chinese Elm cure at least until winter after next. Besides the Locust in that bunch I have an 80′ tall Blue Spruce that is has been standing dead two years and will come down this year also. Steve will get a couple of 4x5s out of it for his log cabin and I’ll use what is left, suitable for firewood. Should have plenty to let the Chinese Elm sit for two winters if I need to.
Anyway, I’ll keep the elm separate from the Spruce and Locust, and those will the separate from my firewood already cured for this coming winter.
Used to burn 7-8 cords a winter and used round stacks with a black pvc pipe chimney to get max drying. Not exact but this is the general idea:
https://www.backwoodshome.com/build-a-holz-hausen-to-dry-firewood/
I’m not heating the whole house. Just supplementing my gas furnace with a small insert. Besides, there is nothing like wood to warm one when the winter hawk is out in full force.
My son is on the beach at Panama City, FL. He and his wife drove across the state and visited Niki at Daytona Beach for a couple days and then drove back to Panama City to enjoy the rest of their vacation with his wife’s family at a house they rented there.
He tells me the water is off limits due to rip tides. Eleven people drown in two days so they shut down swimming at the beach.

NHC shows Bret clearing the Windwards and continuing as a storm into the Caribbean. I and Joe think it will dissipate faster than the NHC is showing. Meanwhile TS Cindy is shown tracking north west missing everything and then degrading to a depression as it runs into the zone where the wind sheer is heaviest. Joe thinks there is a possibility that may fire back up further north and closer to the east coast of the US once it gets north of where the sheer is the worst. Bears watching.

8:54 EDT in this case vs 6:54 MDT
Goodnight from me….. good morning to you and all…. past my bedtime but having bouts of insomnia having to deal with government on their time schedule.
Strange- we are all insomniacs on this thread. I’ll get all the sleep I need when I’m dead. LOL
6/23/2023 – Then will He guide and direct our lives, so that we bring forth much fruit
Luke 9:51-56 “And it came to pass, when the time was come that He should be received up, He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, and sent messengers before His face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for Him. And they did not receive Him, because His face was as though He would go to Jerusalem. And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, will You that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did? But He turned, and rebuked them, and said, You know not what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.”
Acts 16:6-12 “Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, after they were come to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavored to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them. Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis; and from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.”
Today we are talking about the Lord’s guidance, and the will of the Spirit; and, obviously, how we respond, either in carnality, heat, and revenge upon the men, ignorant of the kind of spirit we are of; or with the quietness and grace, in peaceful agreement with the Spirit’s guidance, and ready immediately to obey without questioning and reasoning, when direction is given.
The twelve had been with Jesus now a long time. They had seen all His works of power, both upon the sick and demonized, even raising the dead and cleansing the leper, and upon the elements of nature itself, calming the storm, walking on the water, changing water to wine, feeding the multitudes out of thin air with just a little boy’s lunch: still somehow, their hearts were hardened, and it was withheld from them to understand the most important things Jesus was telling them.
Whatever it was in them, that rejected and feared what the Lord was saying; this obstruction spread its bad effects on other areas of their life, and influenced how they treated others with regards to the sacred things of Jesus and the kingdom of God. The light in them was in some degree darkness; and the result was, that they didn’t know what they were doing. And until they could be brought to repentance and conversion, the things that obstructed their agreement with the Lord would overflow on the people for whom they were supposed to be Jesus’ representatives.
Young couples brought their babies to Jesus for Him to lay His hands on them and bless them; and the disciples started acting like bouncers and bodyguards, bullying and scolding them, to keep them away from Jesus.
They saw a man casting out demons in Jesus’ Name, who wasn’t part of their group; and again they interfere and oppose, and rebuke the man, forbidding him, merely because he wasn’t part of their chosen few. Little authoritarians constantly ‘discussing among themselves’ who is the greatest of them; while at the same time of such a mean disposition, of mistreating and turning people away from Jesus, while thinking they were protecting His honor!
Now Jesus knows that His hour is come that He must depart from this world to the Father, and His face is set steadfastly to go to Jerusalem. He sends messengers ahead to prepare for Him; and they try to make arrangements in a village of the Samaritans instead; and they turn them away; because the Lord has set His face to go to Jerusalem; and the human thinking deviation ran up against a closed door. Meanwhile, when the disciples saw it, they got all hot and zealous for the Lord’s honor, and immediately remembered a part in the Bible that they thought was just perfect for their outrage: “Lord, wilt Thou that we should call down fire upon them, and consume them, like Elijah did?” There”righteous anger” had Scripture to support them, so they believed. But what was it really? Weaponizing the word of God with a wicked and hateful mind, in vengeance! So Jesus hearing this, and knowing the reasoning of their heart, rebuked them, and said, You know not what spirit you are of; for the Son of man came not to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.
Now in Acts, Luke, being given perfect understanding from the very first, and anointed for writing the Sacred Narratives, was also himself saved at such a time when the Spirit was similarly guiding Paul and Silas and those who were with them. They had passed through the countries of Phrygia and Galatia, but the Holy Spirit forbade them to speak the word of God in Asia. They didn’t question or disobey, but continued patiently to the next towns, waiting for guidance and an open door. This would have been known both by the inward conviction of the Holy Spirit, and the inhospitable way the people treated the little caravan, turning them away as soon as they got there. Some might only look on such events as only natural things; saying, some folks are just unfriendly to strangers: but God is the One who has power to open or close the heart; and nature can do nothing when God says something else.
Like when the people around the country of the Gadarenes came out to see about the demoniac being healed; as soon as they heard what happened, and saw the man in his right mind and clothed, and saw the Lord Jesus there, they became filled with fear, and began begging Him to go away from them. The Father had known about the condition of those people, and about the man filled with demons tormented and trying to hurt himself, living in the tombs. So He sent Jesus to deliver the man from the demons and heal him, and to let the people there see just so much to make them full of conviction and dread; and let them go with that for now. Jesus did not get defensive and angry at them; but quietly resigned to the boat, to go away, as they asked Him. He had done what He was sent there to do.
Now in the narrative in Acts, it doesn’t say anything about one or two getting saved, or a few sick being healed; but there is a quiet little mention in verse 10, where Luke for the first time uses the pronoun “We.” Up till then he always said “They” with reference to the apostles. From this I think it might be fair to say, that Luke had just gotten saved, while they were in Troas; and that he did just like the disciples did when Jesus called them: Immediately he forsook all and followed Him. Although it doesn’t say exactly how long they were there; from the sense of the narrative, from the moment Paul had received his vision from God; was apparently the same time of Luke’s being saved: and so they had done what they came for, and now had further orders.
In this it also appears, that Paul and his companions must have still been trying to witness whenever they found an opportunity; even with the doors being shut by the Lord, (for it says that they attempted to go a certain direction, and it implies that they were trying to speak the word): and so it was, that the whole expedition was not entirely fruitless; for evidently they came to get Luke in Troas. At the same time Paul was given his vision and instructions; and so they came the way the Lord had guided, found Luke, and continued on to Macedonia. So for the brief time of having to walk by faith and wait for God to open a door to speak; they were on an errand, to take care of something for the Lord on the way. They were not given day to day, moment by moment details of all they were supposed to do; only keep going, and be patient. Then they had the whole thing showed them when Luke was saved. This of course, is only my speculation; but I think that there’s some wisdom from the Lord in it. And if I’m wrong, then may everyone forgive me.
Now, that the Samaritans did not open to Jesus and His disciples at that time, was not a final judgment of God, nor a permanent condition of those people. The Holy Spirit had shown before, in John chapter 4, how the Samaritans were very receptive and excited to meet Messiah for themselves: and when Philip went down to them; after the persecution about Stephen drove everyone out of Jerusalem; they received the word with great joy, and many were healed and being saved. And when Peter and John came down to see what was happening; the Holy Spirit was given to them.
I wonder if John had a chuckle in himself reflecting on this, only a short time after him and his brother wanted to call down fire upon them. He was a totally different man now from what he was before; and now God could bestow the baptism of the Spirit upon people by the laying on of John’s hands. Quite a different thing than a fire of condemnation to destroy; God had made him instead, one who could bring down the Spirit and fire of God unto eternal life and glory.
So we see the difference, before and after; from Calvary to Pentecost; what things God has for His beloved Elect who wish to serve Him. Already having been called and chosen, does not make a blanket sanctioning of the way we think and believe and behave: “Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone: but if it die, it brings forth much fruit.” We have to die in order to find life from the dead. First the cross; then the resurrection and the Holy Spirit sent down into our hearts. Old attitudes and old ways of thinking, cannot please God, or do any good for His cause: we need to be made New Creations, into which God can pour out His Spirit without measure. Then will He guide and direct our lives, so that we bring forth much fruit; blessed, and being a blessing!
Hosea 6:1-3 “Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for He has torn, and He will heal us; He has smitten, and He will bind us up. After two days will He revive us: in the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: His going forth is prepared as the morning; and He shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.”
Michael, I’m spending more time than usual studying the travels of Paul in Asia. This man was a missionary! And he went where the Lord led him, without wavering. I really like the works in Acts 19. We, at our church, are reaching out with the anointed prayer cloths (handkerchiefs) to those in need of healing, too far away to travel in person. And we have received many reports of healing, just as told in the scriptures. God is amazing and faithful to His Word!
Is this the most faith affirming thing I’ll read today, George? I don’t think it is…I know absolutely it is so. God bless you and your wonderful church🙏🏻
Thank you for the Good Report, Brother. Reading the word, believing and applying it, and acting upon it!

Jonas Salk
(1914-1995)
American medical researcher and virologist who created the Polio vaccine, dies of heart failure at 80
I remember getting the polio vaccinations as a child
I think I remember one was a shot and the later one was a sugar cube, they had figured out how to do that by then
If memory serves: The first was the Salk vaccine. The second was the Sabin vaccine. You got one or the other, not both.
I recall going down with my classmates to the elementary school library to line up for the nurse to administer the shot to us.
We got both, the Sabin and the Salk; one was the shot, the other was also the sugar cube one.
I dang sure remember the small pox vax scar
Morning, monti😊…Just checked…still have mine.
Mine is barely discernable. Some of the vaccines I gave and received were multi shot given over time. Plague, Rabies, and Hepatitis type B were all that way. All were new vaccines that the Army started giving to certain troops back in the 80’s. Though I think Hep type B came started being given in the early 90’s.
I never questioned or had any problem receiving or giving any vaccination/inoculation back then. But when the MRNA COVID stuff came along without proper testing I refused to take it and told my employer that if the law made it mandatory I would have to quit. I was at retirement age anyway but I really felt sorry for those that weren’t and had families to provide for and did not want to take it. Thank God the courts stepped in and stopped that communist BS.
Rob, this is perhaps the one terrifying thing for us about our grandlads having to register for selective service in a month’s time.
We are naturally concerned about the Neocon ruling class and the Military Industrial Complex reviving the draft to send our young men to a war they will never have to fight themselves and one no doubt their own children of draftable age will be allowed to avoid (as it has always been).
That’s horrid enough.
But the plan now by satan led Pharmakeia is to redevelop all old vaxxxxxxes using the deadly MRNA recipe.
And we are terrified about the prospect for that and what that means for all our military which will have no choice but to take what’s forced. And that’s all I’ll say, because emotionally I can’t think about it too long….it puts me in a very bad place.
Good morning now afternoon Betsy. Been busy today. Rain finally ceased and sun out but wouldn’t be surprised if it heats up a thundershower or two with all this humidity.
doing the snoopy dance, first sun since Monday.
Afternoon to you, my friend.😊 Oh jolly good for your sun. Not so much for the humidity which we are also experiencing…ugh…
A couple of minor drops of rain today, but not enough to do any good sadly. Next week will be the killer heat wise…again ugh…
I bet you do a mean Snoopy dance! Don’t let the neighbours see you!!😎😁
Had small pox vax in early elementary school….ca. 1960’s.
Mom was brilliant. Phoned school, spoke to nurse, asking my shot be given on the inside of my arm. Scar not visible.
Interesting, nurse gave rest of our classes, shot on outside of arm.
Air Force Academy, Douglas Valley all us kids lined up for the air gun injection. Military precision for elementary school kids..
OPV (Oral Polio Vaccine).
As an SF medic I received and gave the whole range of real vaccines. If it was not in their medical files they got it and then it was entered into the International Shot Record that we kept for each man. We SF medics were allowed to monitor and administer the vaccines and other prophylactic measures. Just go to the TMC (Troop Meical Clinic), get the medication or out of the fridge or where ever it was stored, administer it, and then stamp it with the signature of the overseeing MD/medical officer.
At least once a year, and usually twice, all the teams in the Battalion (At that time there were 15. Three companies having 5 teams each) would be alerted at 0’dark 30 by a phone call, or a banging on the door for those that lived in the barracks, for a deployment, but it would turn out not to be a deployment but a pre-deployment procedure where a drug test would be administered and then everything that needed to be done in order for an SF soldier ready for deployment. At that time the Sr. Medic would be expected to present the International Shot records for the whole team and the doc would review then and a medical clerk ensure that the soldiers medical records were up to date and complete.
Other things were done also, like ensuring all the troops GI life Insurance was up to date and had the proper name and address of the beneficiary listed and that every troop that needed for the spouse or a family member to have a Power of Attorney had one. They would even make dog tags on the spot if someone didn’t have theirs.
It was a necessary procedure to ensure that everyone was administratively ready to deploy at a moments notice without having to do all that kind administrative stuff before going. We had two hours from the time the alert was called to be packed out, including palatizing all team equipment, and be at the airfield with everything ready to load out. From there the Air Force loadmasters and others took over loading the plane.
We would not be told where we would be going until after the aircraft took off headed for the SFOB (Advanced Operations Base). Let’s say the deployment was to Europe then the SFOB would be a Sculthorpe, England. Other SFOBs depending on what theater/area command one was being deployed to.
There is where the mission was briefed and planning for it would take place.
That was the procedure if WW III was about to happen. For other deployments, isolation and planning and briefings were done at a more leisurely pace and took place usually right at the post that was our permanent duty station.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
Pig living at highway rest stop rescued
Chocolate doughnuts and quick hands were part of a successful mission to save a pig from the side of a major highway in northern B.C. late last week.
The female pig — estimated at 60 kilograms — is settling into her new life at a local animal rescue but the mission to help her didn’t go off without a hitch.
The sow was spotted wandering around a rest stop near Hixon, 62 kilometres south of Prince George on Highway 97.
Nearby construction workers first spotted her, and eventually, a motorist at the rest stop dialled up Kerri Hegel, the owner of PG Tickled Pig Rescue in Prince George.
Hegel drove to the location and, sure enough, there was the pig.
Hungry and hustling people for food
“She was walking around the rest stop … hustling all the people that were stopping there for food,” Hegel told Carolina de Ryk, host of CBC’s Daybreak North. “Every time a car would pull in, she would walk up. She was hungry.”
Oh bless her life…….
BE MY VOICE
PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
I missed Cursday but here is something…my pups have been known at “(name if my town) Blues Brothers”……
The newbie sheltie, 9 months old, a few weeks ago, ate a 3 prong plug from my lap top computer…a truly WTF few days of panic….my holistic vet treated him with white bread….dry white bread, for a few days….which of course, led me to this clip….
apparently the white bread binds over foreign objects and aids in the movement thru the intestines…after several days and xrays twice a day, it worked….cleaned him out….yay…as the next step would have been risky stomach or colon surgery.
Can’t sleep….
oh, the ‘boys’ have black bowlers, black ties and sunglasses….
“… and take your four whole chickens … and your dry white toast … and get on outta here”
Glad your pup is alright and good tip on the white bread!
Brilliant and practical solution, Aggiegirl. Glad your puppy is OK. Oh, and I love the Blues Brothers, one of my all time favorite movies. And Cab Calloway was pure perfection. 🙂
ACQUAINTANCE WITH GRIEF
“A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.” Isaiah liii. 3
We are not acquainted with grief in the way in which Our Lord was acquainted with it; we endure it, we get through it, but we do not become intimate with it. At the beginning of life we do not reconcile ourselves to the fact of sin. We take a rational view of life and say that a man by controlling his instincts, and by educating himself, can produce a life which will slowly evolve into the life of God. But as we go on, we find the presence of something which we have not taken into consideration, viz., sin, and it upsets all our calculations. Sin has made the basis of things wild and not rational. We have to recognize that sin is a fact, not a defect; sin is red-handed mutiny against God. Either God or sin must die in my life. The New Testament brings us right down to this one issue. If sin rules in me, God’s life in me will be killed; if God rules in me, sin in me will be killed. There is no possible ultimate but that. The climax of sin is that it crucified Jesus Christ, and what was true in the history of God on earth will be true in your history and in mine. In our mental outlook we have to reconcile ourselves to the fact of sin as the only explanation as to why Jesus Christ came, and as the explanation of the grief and sorrow in life.

Thank you for the post. Very good message.
God morning to you, Stevie girl.
Good (finally!!) Friday, dear sis.
Thought I’d leave this for you from “Messiah”. A beautiful performance with heart rending depictions of our Saviour…I’ve never heard this aria, or felt it, more deeply.
Blessed be your day, girl😘🌻

Joe Biden, Merrick Garland Implicated in IRS Whistleblower Testimony: 5 Key Questions (breitbart.com)
Put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. – Colossians 3:10
Where do you see God’s image when you look in the mirror? Is it in your moral conscience or in a desire for deep connection with others? Do you see God’s likeness in your character, as you choose to move towards truth rather than deception and desire the world’s suffering to be relieved? There is nothing wrong with looking for evidence of God’s image in your life. In fact, it can be recommended!
Considering God’s characteristics of perfection and holiness, it does not take much to see the chasm between your existence and God’s eternal self. In the proper context of Creator and beloved creation, self-reflection is an important step in a restored relationship. You are God’s idea and He created you to know and enjoy fellowship together. Regardless of the ravages of this life and sin, He still sees the you He desired at creation. You can know that version of you also!
Paul encourages you to put on the “new self,” a version of you enlivened by the Spirit of Christ and full of the indwelling Spirit of God (Ephesians 4:22). This version of you is born when you accept God’s grace towards you through Christ’s payment for your sin. As you take stock of God’s image in yourself, you notice where you do not reflect Him. Start right there, asking Him to heal you and make you more like Jesus.
Pray for elected leaders in America to look at themselves in relationship to God’s eternal being, and desire redemption and restoration through His Son, Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 13:12 “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.”
Psalm 5:2 “Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto Thee will I pray. My voice shalt Thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I *direct (set in order, make account) [my prayer] unto Thee, and will look up. For Thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness:
neither shall evil dwell with Thee.”
Hebrews 11:8-10 “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing where he went. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a *strange (belonging to another) country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: for he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder (artisan, creator) and maker (worker [for the ] people, constructor) is God.”
I would Love it if RFK Jr. would run as a third party candidate. Perhaps he and Manchin could team up. The uniparty establishment and their press would go bonkers! Won’t happen, but I can always dream.
Me, too, Rob. I think it’s super suspish that RFK Jr won’t leave his DemonRat party behind. That’s a clear message that our candidates really should send. I want Trump to dump RepubliCons.
We have only one party at this moment in my view.
The UNIPARTY
His “third party” would actually be the second party.
Although not declared I view MAGA as a separate party from the Republican establishment uniparty. We are a conglomeration of various groups from 2nd amendment types, to parents that want to control their child’s education, to those that see the pattern of endless wars draining our coffers, to those that believe in states rights and are Constitutional constructionists, to those of the TEA Party, or those that believe in all of those things as I do and pretty much all Treepers here do.
Me three, RAH
There’s a couple things I really don’t understand, about how RFK is soft (so to speak) on abortion; but when I listen to everything he says, all around the corporate take-over of every agency in the government, and everything around his uncle’s ideas about the direction this country should go, and how he was murdered on account of his getting in the way of their agenda; I just wonder if there couldn’t be found another, NEW way of figuring out how the leadership of this country should be re-done. I too think, Why does he want to save the Democrat Party? I think that him and President Trump should reconcile, and work together: they’re both very smart and have so much wisdom and experience, that would compliment each other.
I gotta be careful though, saying things like that here! Too many digressive tribesmen who aren’t willing or maybe capable to stay calm and reasonable.
. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.

Bookmarked. Thank you, Childe. Blessed be your day.
Well, I was going to work on straightening out my firewood today but the boss has another idea. She says that trimming the Lillac bushes takes priority. And she’s right. So I will be trimming the 9 bushes while she works at raking and picking up the trimmings and taking them to the firepit. Once I’m done, I’ll help her finish up the clean up.
Good day to do it. Cloudy, forecast high is 80. The only bad part is humidity is over 70%. It’s a hot job.

Remains of Titanic Sub Crew May Never be Recovered (breitbart.com)
Of course not! A recovery operation is not worth the risk. Maybe a fragment of bone here or there would be found. High pressure implosion is a very violent thing to both the vessel and anyone in it and what happens to a human body under such circumstances is not a pleasant thing to contemplate. A giant food processor couldn’t do a better job of mangling the remains.
Though smaller, Cindy already looks better organized than Bret ever has been.

MIDDAY PRAYER
Good afternoon and I haven’t thanked you recently for the inspiring posts duchess.
Going to be a busy evening so wishing everyone a great start to a good weekend.
Thanks, Monti – Warms my heart !!!
Have a Blessed Evening !!! ❤️
I was unfamiliar with that wonderful, joyous Spurgeon quote, duchess. My goodness! Talk about an afternoon lift!🍀💓
Oh, Goodie !!! Good to hear, Bet !!! ❤️
i couldn’t let my previous post be the last thing “dreamboat annie “ said .. if that’s how it turned out..
also, i know sometimes, what you think doesn’t need to be said.
this song is in my head this morning, so here it is
lay it on the line .

I hope it’s not, annie💕
thank you betsy ♥️
Always liked that tune Annie.
You add a lot to the threads you comment on.
My two cents? There are thousands reading everything here at the treehouse on every thread who never comment.
A bit humorous when some think to make it their own personal little sandbox…..I’m thinking hunger games here.
I ignore pettiness and try to follow the rules Sundance posts and I try not to play favorites and be as courteous as possible.
I would find it extremely hypocritical for anyone other than admin to think to limit anyone else’s participation. It would go against the core values on a site essentially concerning freedom.
Finally communication is so imperfect that even the best intentioned folks can get their feathers ruffled.
Please stick around, this is a very eclectic gathering, it can be very interesting.
Monti, your comment is kind and encouraging – here’s to say thanks!
Had to chuckle at the “sandbox” analogy, tho…
🌷
Truth, friend. Well said…😊
Appreciate your graciousness regarding the whole matter Monti. If only we had more like you amongst our branches…
Amen.
Annie, not clear about your post, but wanted to reach out. I don’t always comment but have enjoyed your posts!
Each person is of value here – and unique.
Hope to see you here again!
🌷🥰
Please don’t think of leaving us annie. I have no idea what got into Garrison making the comments he did on back 6/21. He’s in moderation now…..and maybe we’ll have a talk about things re the email.
Think I’m glad to have missed whatever that conversation on 6/21 was all about; do please stay annie;
it takes all of us to get through these days, even if someone unknowingly touched someone else’s hot button.
please do reconsider; just my 2 cents.
Ad rem, i hope its not to late for you to see this, i’m just getting back to the house.. and since there is thousands that read here ( as monticello said in their wise and very good advice post ) i’ll leave it at a very heartfelt thank you .
and thank you to everyone else that replied ♥️

Aaaaaand down into the hole he goes!
I love you guys. Laughter is in short supply, laughed my arse off on this (minus the spider, not a fan).
Longest week ever. I have a new saying:
“What are you putting off today that can become someone else’s emergency later?”
One can only wipe so many tushies until getting sick of the poo.
Then when they cop an arrogant attitude at you when you’re saving their butt and their reputation – Lord, your mama didn’t teach you no manners! Was about to open up a Texas-sized can of whup ass.
Swear – sometimes I think I’m going for sainthood at the way I keep my mouth closed.
You know my motto, JWoo…taste your words, Bet, before you spit them out.
And the corollary to that is look ahead and consider the fallout if I should fail to do so…
Hard sometimes, but these two have served me well. When I’ve ignored my own warning bells, I have always regretted.
EVENING PRAYER AND REFLECTION
Thank Almighty God for His grace and mercies, dear sis🙏🏻💕
AMEN !!! ❤️
Duchess,
Amen …beautiful
Thank you 🙏✝🙏🌺💕🌺

Oh my goodness!!!
Oh, duchess!!!! I saw and heard this. Wasn’t she good?? And the reactions of those who heard her. We’re all feeling heavy for the America we knew once upon a time, I think.
Amen goes right there, Bet !!! Another ‘Hurt of the Heart’ here !!!
