Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Howdy Garrison 🇺🇸🤠🇺🇸
🙂
Good morning, Garrison. I heard this first in my dorm room at UT in 1968. I was captivated at once and have remained so ever since.
Good morning dear Bet! This morning I helped my bride with some garden work. Planted a couple of eggplants, another zucchini and a Tabasco pepper. Still have 7 more peppers to plant but we are going to try using a big water trough for a container gardening with the peppers. Have 3 of those ready, filled up halfway with dry leaves and waiting on the ranch guy to bring up dirt this afternoon and will fill the rest up, topping it off with mulch. Will be looking for cantaloupe plants because it’s late to do seeds. The time kind of got away from us with all the other stuff going on.
Getting ready to head out for a workout but first will call and try and find out what’s happening with my appointment for a heart catheter and angiogram.
Have a blessed day. Praying for your hubby’s recovery. 🙏🏻❤️😘
God morning, dear brother 😘. Well…there are no flies on you!! Up and away. But I know what you mean…I’m watching the days disappear, and yet at the same time, standing still. If that makes any sense. It does to me. Hope you get a date and hope it is soon so you can get this behind you, over and done with. My prayers running on a loop for you🙏🏻
Chris is making progress day by day. But as he was always a go getter, he is frustrated by the mandated instructions he has to follow. We’ve had discussions, with my assuring him that events like this are just part of the deal oft times.
He awoke last night with a prayer which came to him, and which this morning we prayed together, hand in hand. It was beautiful.
And this was the ultimate miracle that God wrought. First the life saving one which led to our daily praising Him…together and with gratitude for His mercies. Before, he…like my dad…was very private with his faith. A faith which was tested by the loss of his two sons and never quite recovered from that.
But the Holy Spirit has been reignited in him, by God’s grace. Here is his prayer…
“We lit a beacon in this place. It signals our faith, love, and trust that You will be with us on the pathways we travel. Amen.”
Yes…a miracle of miracles. I am so grateful🙏🏻
Our God is so awesome, Bet! Blessed be His Holy Name! These are the times that He brings us closer to Him and to each other.
Appointment scheduled for this Friday morning. The procedure is at 10 but we have to be there at 8. So we be spending the night in San Antonio. If there are stents placed I’ll have to spend the night, if not will be going home the same day.
I am praying for a miracle and that whatever the outcome it brings Glory to God!
❤️🙏🏻
I will too, dear, dear friend. So glad you have that SA bolthole. All will be well, I know it. These people do this procedure so often I bet they could do it in their sleep. You are otherwise fit. I’m betting it will be one and done and you’ll be back home soonest. The fact that even if stents are placed they’d release you next day bodes so well.
Chris had an aortic graft and had his breathing been better they’d have let him go home next day. Sure as shooting’ we’ll be seeing you posting again saying all is well, I’m back!
All the same, my prayers will accompany you before, during, and after…just as yours were for us. They will be heard and you will absolutely be watched over.💕🙏🏻👍🏻 Guaranteed!!
Betsy, so glad to hear that Chris is doing so well.
Thank you so much, Slowcobra💕. It’s so good to see you back on your branch.🤗
Thank you betsy! I missed everyone and am glad to be back! (although, slight confession, it was good to be off-grid for a bit, to get a break from ‘current events’)
Always 🙏 🙏 🙏 for you! ❣
Praying for a Miracle here, too – GPM!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Angels Watching Over You!!! 💙🧚🏻♀️💙🧚🏻♀️💙
Smooth sailing, GrandpaM, and can’t wait to see what you get up to with your new and improved ticker! He’ll be hand tilling all the acreage folks! Prayers up, friend!!!
GrandpaM, we’ll be with you in spirit on friday.
“there are no flies on you” – you, Bets, are too much!!!! ROFLOL
Best evening to you, Chris, and GrandpaM and Mrs.
Says it all😁 thanks JWoo-Hoo, my sister. Right back to you and Savannah🤗
Good morning, Bet. Heard it around that time also. It has been a favorite of mine, too. Pepe’, Angel, and Manuel all turn in masterful performances. Once upon a time, Pepe’ was visiting with another guitarist friend when they heard a Manuel Barrueco recording for the first time. Pepe’s comment—“There’s another fast gun in town . . .” Perfect. 🙂
Ha!! That was then, too. Now so many up and coming and arrived virtuosi of that lovely instrument. Just a real pleasure to hear them.
Morning Garrison!
Mornin’ Gramps. May you and yours be blessed and made well by Our Lord. 🙂
🙂
Mmmmm… I could listen to that traipsing down the San Antonio Riverwalk on my way to Mi Tierra’s for a little breakfast. Some of my favorite music. Evening, G.
Late one night, years and years ago my beloved wife and I went to Mi Tierra. It was well after hours, probably 1:30AM or so, which meant the bars had closed. . .
We found ourselves seated adjacent to a group of 20 or more marichis. We found ourselves in an early morning marichis choir singing their favorite Rancheros. It was a truly magical musical moment. They, of course, ended up with “Volver”. What a perfect end to a great evening. You had to be there . . . 🙂
Oh… I WAS THERE… a lot. I worked at a world renown machinery dealer there and we took out-of-towners there all the time. Lots of breakfast meetings. That was the place where the “locals” go – off the Riverwalk where the ambiance was pure – Tejas.
San Antonio and 12 counties of Texas… was once “my” town. I can’t even think on it too long without missing it. But time marches on and things change. I wouldn’t even recognize it anymore.
You can take the girl out of the rodeo, but you’ll never get the rodeo out of the girl. I used to be the Cowtown Cookie girl there at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. My final year there, I was asked to be on the Social Committee – what an honor that I sadly never got the chance to serve.
Long may you wave, love . . . 🙂
You can always come back when the time is right . . .
The website UnHerd has a marvelous interview with Avi Loeb a Harvard astronomer. Top Harvard Scientist: The Evidence for Extraterrestrial Life. Don’t miss it. It is almost religious and nearly made me cry. I just happened on it after I watched the documentary (on youtube) recommended by treeper Mark41 on yesterdays presidential thread titled Unacknowledged: An Expose of the World’s Greatest Secret. That documentary seems credible to me and discusses many things which explain the deep state such as why people who have seen UFOs are made to seem ridiculous and why we have had so little progress the last 100 years. both the interview and documentary are long but worth it.
WE PRAISE YOU AND ACKNOWLDEGE YOU, O GOD, TO BE THE LORD
Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross.
Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

4/18/2023 – The kingdom of God comes not with observation
Judges 3:5-9 “And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites: and they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods. And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgot the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves. Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and He sold them into the hand of Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushan-rishathaim eight years. And when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer (savior) to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.”
Luke 17:20-30 “And having been demanded (interrogated) by the Pharisees, when is coming the kingdom of God, He answered them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with observation (inspection, perceived by eyesight evidence); nor shall they say, See here, or, see there; for see, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you. And He said to the disciples, Days will come, when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and shall not see: and they will say to you, See here, or see there; go not forth, nor follow: for as the lightning which lightens from [the one part] under the heaven, shines unto [the other part] under the heaven, thus will also be the Son of man in his day. But first it is necessary Him to suffer many things, and to be rejected of this generation. And according as it came to pass in the days of Noah, thus shall it be also in the days of the Son of man: they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark, and the cataclysm came, and destroyed all. In like manner also as it came to pass in the days of Lot; they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; but on the day Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and sulfur from heaven, and destroyed all. According to this shall it be in the day the Son of man is revealed.”
1. The people who do not what the LORD has commanded, but forget the LORD, so they can assimilate with the ungodly; are the ones who will be punished over and over again, but will never repent. No matter how they are punished worse and worse, nor how many times the LORD still has pity, and saves them; they cannot divorce themselves from needing to be of the world, and having to prove that they are not God’s people. It is the same thing that happened in the world of the beginning; the ‘sons of God’ abandoned the strivings of the Holy Spirit, that God should rule over them; and took themselves wives from the descendants of Cain, who hated the LORD. All this they do to take their portion in this life; and despise and reject the faith of Jesus.
2. “When the children of Israel cried unto the LORD . . .” Now while we know, that God is pained at His heart, and full of compassion for the sufferings of sinners, even while they are willing to stay in their sins, and bear with the humiliations and difficulties of their punishments, rather than to humble themselves and get right with God; yet it was the saints in Israel, who were wrongly suffering alongside their disobedient and evil brethren, who prayed, and so the LORD hearkened.
3. These things do not take decades and many generations to happen; but it was immediately the very children of that generation who came in with Joshua, which knew not the LORD, nor any of the wars of Canaan; who lusted after the Canaanite women, and took up with their gods. Young people who despised the religion and virtue of their parents, quickly abandoned and turned against the Covenant of the LORD their God, to become His enemies. They rejected the commandments to First Thing make sure, to utterly destroy and take away the wicked from out of the land; to rid the holy land entirely of the wicked, and to cleanse it from all the previous occupants and all their abominations.
4. Remember the story of the rich man and Lazarus: when father Abraham answered the rich man in hell, “They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them . . . and, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rose from the dead;” he was speaking for God what is a fact about man’s evil nature; and why he still perishes, even with all that God has done, and continues to do, to save him. They love more than anything, and hold onto as their very lives, to go through their lives as if there is no God; and God not to be in all their thoughts. They believe that freedom means free from care about the condition of their souls, free from the light that exposes them as doing evil, free from being subordinate to God, or anyone else! even while they are running greedily to put themselves in shackles in the dungeon of idolatry and sin and darkness! These are the ones who keep on eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, buying and selling, building and planting; living in the vanity of their mind, and exercising their hearts only for their covetousness and desires for pleasure; as if it would go on forever. They truly believe, that this world is an indefinite and interminable existence; and that they will somehow attain to divinity, by believing slander against God, and directly disobeying His commandments.
5. God is not going to force men against their will, nor make a show to prove Himself to the proud and rebellious who sit in contempt of His mercy and grace and salvation. God is already saving souls and healing multitudes, and blessing those who are of the truth and hear His voice. The LORD has His witnesses everywhere in the world, for men to inspect and scrutinize, if they had a heart or any inclination to know. But even the fact that God has His saints in the world, and that everyone who wants to, can see the work of grace wrought in man in Jesus’ Name; that will not serve to save any of them, just because the LORD has preached in their streets, and His people have dwelt among them. They still come out to see the Christians and the servants of God, as if they were the judges, whose it is to demand proof from God. “O generations of vipers; who has warned you to flee the coming wrath? Bring forth therefore fruits fitting to repentance!”
Ecclesiastes 9:13-18 “This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me: there was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that rules among fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroys much good.”
God’s answer to the prayers of His saints, to save this country from the wicked who are destroying it; is that He sends His Son Jesus Christ to bless them in turning everyone from his sins and his evil ways. If they do not receive God’s answer and the only way to be saved; then they have to go their own way to destruction.
Read “The Curse of Canaan” by Eustace Mullins. It was written in 1988 but he could be talking about today.
What is it about? Is there something in this that reminds you of that?
I just finished Moses and Joshua in my daily Bible Reading Schedule,and just started Judges. I noticed that the Book of Joshua seemed to be the completion of what Moses was originally charged with doing; but because he was provoked to anger by the rebellious people, he struck the rock when God told him to speak to it ; and so he could not go into the promised land. So Joshua, in a sense, is to Moses, as the Book of Acts is to the Gospel Narratives. And Judges can be likened to the church age after the time of the apostles till now. The descriptions of what the people did, and the revelation of God’s views upon it; are exactly fitting to people today, as they always have been.
After reading what I wrote here again a couple times; I can see that it may be difficult to understand how I put these Scriptures together. But I was looking at them with respect to their spiritual application, and our salvation; of which all those things were written to instruct us unto.
Well, thank you for the little note, anyway; I just don’t know what you’re referencing, or what the book is about that you want me to read.
Altho I would substitute my own homemade instead.

I would like to remind people of 6 anniversaries today
1775 the battles of lexington and concord
1903 Eliot Ness’s birthday
1943 the beginning of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
1993 the end of the Waco Seige
1995 the Oklahoma City bombing
2013 the Boston Marathon bombing
things tend to happen on anniversaries. stay alert.
Lexington was not much of a battle, though it is referred to as “the battle on the Green” but the fight at the bridge at Concord and the pursuit of the Lobster Backs retreating back into Boston certainly was. I was stationed at Ft. Devens for 5 1/2 years and thus had the opportunity to visit and follow along all the historic places and routes and visit the old cemeteries.
Then they fought as the Brits tried to enforce gun control. Now, many of them that live there are frightened if they see an armed US soldier in their midst. And they nearly passed a law to prohibit the Patriot’s Day reenactors from even shooting blanks.
A story of heroism from that day that has always inspired me.
This 80-year-old minuteman took on a column of British troops by himself – We Are The Mighty
The frontiersmen’s long rifles were formidable “weapons of war” because they dramatically out ranged the standard British smooth-bore “Brown Bess” musket (200 yards accuracy versus 60 yards). At Concord bridge and afterwards, the British were up against real fighters with excellent, long range, weapons. In its day the “long rifle” was a preeminent “weapon of war”. For its time it was exactly the kind of weapon gun-controllers including our president now want to outlaw.
The “Brown Bess” was an area weapon. With a smooth bore designed to be reloaded relatively quickly and to be able to shoot considerable rounds before fouling. It was intended to be used against formations of enemy, just exactly as the British used and which was the standard for all of Europe and that was what the troops were shooting at. Not a single individual, but a lines of mass formations.
The long rifle was for hunting and hunting required accuracy against a point target. The accuracy determined by the quality of the weapon, rifling, and of course the shooters skill. But because of the rifling it was slower and more difficult to load, and using the typical quality of powder of the day the rifling would foul after a few rounds, the build up making it impossible to ram another ball home until it was cleaned.
Unlike that rifled muskets of the Civil war which generally shot the conical Minie ball which expanded into the rifling when fired, the long rifle shot a ball that engaged the rifling lands and grooves when it was rammed down the barrel.
On the day of the battle as the British retreated the minuet men fired into their flanks, usually at a range beyond what a Brown Bess could be fired accurately at a point target. The minute men had and used cover and concealment to pick off the Red Coats which were completely exposed on the road as they retreated.
So the minute men shoot, ran ahead of the marching British formation, and reloaded and then waited for the British column to get into their kill zone again.
Those frontiersmen really meant business. They knew how to fight and, as you point out, they had an effective weapon that needed expert care.
My favorite account of the Revolutionary War was the Battle of King’s Mountain where a “Over mountain man” militia, largely composed of Scots-Irish immigrants, tracked, isolated and completely defeated a British regular regiment who had been overtly threatening their homes.
Those Scots-Irishmen, understanding their past history,
were absolutely going to be threatened again by the British army.
The histories of this battle are interesting. The Scots-Irish local militia organized and then went on the hunt for their British enemies. Then they took care of business.
Yea! And they did what they could to pick off the officers which were conspicuous by their uniform and in many cases, being mounted.

Shameful.. German engineering USED to be some of the best…..
Shameful is the right word, GB. I’d add tragic as well.
Inexplicable to me, but I’ve learned over the past three years that what I thought I knew the German psyche was completely wrong.
Gates of Vienna has done a lot to disabuse me of previous assumptions.
G of V is a good website. Thank you for reminding me about it. Too frequently I forget to check it.
Very interesting Article. I always associated the “Greens” as having to do with the environment, and natural. Apparently I learned something new; that Green is a “Political Color” that signifies an Ideology; NOT love for things GREEN. And having heard it put that way, I can recall all those kind I’ve ever tried to talk to, or listened to, about their views; it always turned to an anti-authority, anti-big corporation speech. Anyway, I found this to be very interesting and simply truth.

Thanks for that link, Michael. It always was a political movement disguised as concern for the earth. It has morphed into a totalitarian cult with no room for Almighty God who created what they say they are “saving”, but in fact are destroying as fast as they can. Monsters all.
Thank you Betsy.

We encourage you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. – 1 Thessalonians 5:14
You may have heard it said, “It takes all kinds to make a world.” Likewise, it takes all kinds to make a church. If you walk into a local fellowship expecting perfection, you will be severely disappointed. Someone once said, “The church is like Noah’s ark, it may stink at times, but it is the only boat afloat.”
Just as a young couple, madly in love, enters a marriage expecting to live happily ever after, but soon realizes they are doing life with someone who tracks mud into the house or has bad breath in the morning, church members must realize they are doing life with imperfect people. Many leave the fellowship saying, “The church is full of hypocrites!” They abandon their brothers and sisters in Christ for the same reason many get divorced — failed expectations.
To the Thessalonians, Paul described some in the congregation: idle, fainthearted, and weak. He did not say they should be kicked out but admonished, encouraged, and helped. And he adds, “Be patient with them all.”
If your fellow church members fall short in some way, admonish when necessary, help when needed, and encourage always. Someone once said, “If you find the perfect church, do not go there; you will ruin it!” Nobody is perfect. The Lord is patient with you, so be patient with your brothers and sisters in Christ. There is no good excuse to “neglect meeting together” (Hebrews 10:25).
Pray that believers of the United States will learn to love one another in such a way that they would attract unbelievers, because, eternally speaking, it is the only boat afloat.

Hi Betsy! Sorry I couldn’t get back to you on yesterday’s open thread, I’m super busy at the moment. I’ll possibly respond to any replies here on tomorrow’s thread, but I’ll see how I go.
All is well with me. I just moved home and also started a new job. I’m very happy with both – but I’m struggling to keep up with everything. I hope to be better once things settle down.
How are you going?
Morning, Rach. And congrats!! New home and new job. I am so glad things are looking up for you🤗 No worries about responding in a timely fashion, or at all really. It was just so lovely to see you here. Miles away but really just on the next Branch. That’s the beauty of this leafy Tree filled with friends from all over the world. Blessings, girl, always.💕
(Early here and no coffee yet… must sort that out!)
Have any of you fellow Cat Servants ever had a sickly charge disappear inside your house? Jinx was nowhere to be found for about 4 hours yesterday. I know animals like to hide when they are hurt but this was ridiculous. I looked over every square inch of the house and garage. I was cussing myself for letting him out somehow, sure enough I had finally been through the entire range of human emotion over my missing buddy and whaddaya know, that knucklehead emerged from his hiding place hungry as a hostage!
SVFL,
Yes! When my Dan-O-Man was in his final days, he would disappear and I would dread. A hard shake of the treat box would cause him to emerge.
He was dying though… so I made him a den in my daughter’s dark bathroom. He would retreat there into an open ended soft cat carrier with soft cushion blankets. He was so frail and bony… then spent $70 on velcro dog jacket for him to keep his body warm. He was a very smartly dressed little gentleman. (I didn’t care the cost… he was the best cat friend ever).
He stayed alive well past expectations possibly because we were extremely attentive. We loved him so much and it was hard to let him go.
He was down to 5 lbs 3oz from his grand beautiful 13 lb self and I couldn’t take it anymore and we took him to the vet to be put to sleep. I was terribly AGAINST this because I wanted the Lord to take him, but he wouldn’t leave me. Even in the end, he was still protecting me and it broke me in a thousand pieces. 💔
Maybe Jinx would do well with a little den for himself. Small enclosed quarters, soft blankets. Kiddo even added stuffed animals to cuddle with.
So sorry you’re worried for your Jinx. I imagine with an attack like he’s undergone, he may determine he wants to be an indoor cat and give up his Tom-foolery days?
I should have had him fixed long before all of this. I got the 2 females fixed first, because I cannot deal with any more. My other tomcat, Jinx brother Shadow, is a model citizen. He stays on or near the acre and a half. He comes running when I call out to him better than my dog and stays in the garage at night without spraying. His brother is a different story. I am going to have to catch the feral tomcat who terrorizes the neighborhood and take him on a boat ride to the swamp(at least he will have a fighting chance out there). I know this cat will still come over here and cause problems after both my toms are fixed. He has had the run of this area for several years and isn’t going to go quietly.
Please don’t beat yourself up for not having him neutered sooner. These things happen and I know things are tough right now for him, but kittahs are resilient creatures. When I was a little girl, we had a beautiful Siamese, “Tinker”, and he never was away long from us. One evening he was gone and didn’t come back until 2 days later. Someone had captured him and they declawed him unmercifully by mutilating him. He survived and went on to live 23 years. He was a very good boy and they truly do seem to have 9 lives.
Give Jinxie love, some space of his own, lots of treats, and good wet protein rich food. He’ll come back for you.
As to the mean old cat who has some territory issues – maybe a good application of wolf urine – or not meaning to be really gross – but your own might scare away the unwanted encroachers. Male urine works better than female – and maybe it wouldn’t scare your own cats since they know their human’s smell.

Sent this to daughter and son-in-law who are being raided by voracious bunnies. The kale has not gotten far
Great story, Woo. 🙂
When pets decline it almost makes you wonder if it is worth taking them on sometimes. Then you remember all of the good times and how much they enrich your life even with the vet bills and never ending catbox valet duties/ midnight trips outside with the leash for my dog(when he really just wants to go out to sniff the wind for coyotes) or when he sneaks cat food and throws up on the area rug. I don’t know what I would do without them even though I am 1.5 cats away from babbling incoherencies like the “Crazy Cat Lady” from the “Simpsons” cartoon.
I don’t believe in coincidences, my friend…just found this.
(let me give you my address)
😂
That’ll do it.
Awww friend, I hear you. We have 2 left. Daniel’s litter mate brother, Timmy a DSH blonde, and Harold the 2 year old Maine Coon. Daniel was a gorgeous Russian Blue – that’s why these haters on here torment me with Russian Blue pictures to encourage me to adopt every cat I can find! Ha ha!
The loss was super hard and getting harder on me. I am 2 years away from daughter graduating high school and we have a year left in this leased home – so I am reticent about adopting again. I’m getting older and when I am unsure where we are going to live – adopting doesn’t seem the wise idea.
But, the heart wants what the heart wants and we have honestly given the best homes possible to those we were placed stewards over. They have been my joy and we will just see where the future leads.
Bless you SVFL… it’s going to be okay. I promise, friend. Just love and snuggle that boy. Now, he’s probably too weak to resist the lovin’… so do it while you can! He might even enjoy it and surprise you at how docile he may become. Prayers go with you both.
Good morning, Social…short answer..YES! Only they and God know where they go. I am so relieved he showed up. A feeling I know only too well.
I was beginning to feel like a terrible pet parent!
Oh no….you’re not. Cats have their own world, their own ways and nothing to do with us as we think we understand them.
The last cat who owned us was an indoor one and decided he didn’t want to go to the vet. Reasonable, I thought.
And like you the costs of taking him were crushing. Nevertheless, go he had to.
Came the time and of course he hid. Ours is a simple house with not many places to hide, but could I find him? I looked everywhere multiple times…under couches, beds, tables…he just disappeared himself. Eventually he came out but to this day I still know not from where.
No, it’s not you…believe me😉💕
IS IT NOT IN THE LEAST LIKELY?
“For Joab had turned after Adonijah, though he turned not after Absalom.” 1 Kings ii. 28
Joab stood the big test, he remained absolutely loyal and true to David and did not turn after the fascinating and ambitious Absalom, but yet towards the end of his life he turned after the craven Adonijah. Always remain alert to the fact that where one man has gone back is exactly where anyone may go back (see 1 Cor. x. 13). You have gone through the big crisis, now be alert over the least things; take into calculation the “retired sphere of the leasts.”
We are apt to say – “It is not in the least likely that having been through the supreme crisis, I shall turn now to the things of the world.” Do not forecast where the temptation will come, it is the least likely thing that is the peril. In the aftermath of a great spiritual transaction the “retired sphere of the leasts” begins to tell; it is not dominant, but remember it is there, and if you are not warned, it will trip you up. You have remained true to God under great and intense trials, now beware of the undercurrent. Do not be morbidly introspective, looking forward with dread, but keep alert; keep your memory bright before God. Unguarded strength is double weakness because that is where the “retired sphere of the leasts” saps. The Bible characters fell on their strong points, never on their weak ones.
“Kept by the power of God” – that is the only safety.
Oswald Chambers
April 19th Devotional
Joab and Abishai were David’s nephews, sons of his older sister Zeruiah. How many times did they say and do things, that were in direct contradiction to David! How many times did David have to say to them, What have I to do with you, O you sons of Zeruiah? And Joab especially, was calloused and self-willed, and murdered two righteous men, behind David’s back, and completely against his wishes. When he was told in front of the entire assembly by the king, not to hurt Absalom under any circumstances; what did Joab do? He killed him; and then he tried to blame David for mourning over his murdered son.
There are some, who really believe that they are the Lord’s faithful servants all their lives; but their nature and character and actions, show them to be completely of the devil and working against Jesus at every opportunity.
True in some sense, that he didn’t follow Absalom; but when David was old, and Joab thought he could still make the kingdom like he always wanted it; he showed his true colors, didn’t he?
I don’t know if “unguarded” is exactly how I would define his character; for he was obviously of a certain temperament all his life. In any case; God knows all of us, and may He lead us kindly and gently into always having a right spirit with Him,and with each other.
Mornin’ all!
Good morning 🌳house family!!!
~~~ WARRIOR WEDNESDAY ~~~
1 John 1
(What was heard, seen and touched)
“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of Life – the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us – that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.”
(Fellowship with Him and One another)
“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”
Just imagine…words written in this chapter were by those that actually spent physical time with our Lord. How much more so for us that have not seen, yet believe??? 🤗
Thank you to all our OT Treepers that encourage, pray for, lift up, follow thru, and laugh with…each other. …by the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, many are finding a branch on our tree…💝🙏✝
Amen, dear sis💕 We are growing day by day…and it is glorious that so many more are being guided to our place of refuge, a welcome respite from this fallen world. Our Saviour, our only Mediator and Advocate Jesus Christ is here. Something I believe with my whole heart. The love He has for his flock flows as refreshing waters…so much so it is impossible to not feel it.
Blessed be your day, dear friend and every friend who dwells in the Branches. Hoping those who stop for only a little while know there is room for all. All are welcome, as they are in the Kingdom of Almighty God.
Look at that little jewel!
Oh what a perfect description of him!! A jewel he most definitely is…an ornament to the branch😌
How cute!
Long-tailed tits are a widespread species, spanning the whole of northern Europe and Asia…
BE MY VOICE
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.
PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
So I mowed my yard on Saturday. And I need to mow it again today or NLT tomorrow or I will be raking cuttings again. Spring time in Indiana!
our town is promoting “no mow ’til Mothers Day” as a means of enhancing the pollinators. I think it’s a good idea in concept but in execution–not sure. It’s April 19 and I could go out and mow today. Another 25 days might require some serious equipment. they must be counting on selling a boatload of lawn waste bags that each require a $3 sticker unless we have special dispensation. a few days of rain and some above average temps and it’ll be knee high
Do you mow/mulch rah? We do not pick up cuttings and have a pretty lawn, maybe a few weeds, but otherwise nice.
My trim mower is a mulcher but I did not set up my zero turn to mulch just because when I was working I usually could only mow once a week and that simply is not enough this time of year here. It gets too much to mulch pretty quickly when it gets too high. I mow to 2 1/4″ and I have grass that is already 4″.
Mowing lower is bad for the grass and it would also mean I would be having to trim around roots that I can just mow over now.
I minimize the use of herbicides because we are on a well. We use some Preen in a few places but that is it. According to the water level in Steve’s pond it is only about 6′ below the surface right now.
Now that you’re retired, if you just stay on the mower and keep going round and round…. 😉 just a thought
I don’t see what the difference would be now. Mulched or unmulched, the clippings will stay in the yard as long as I don’t let it get ahead of me. BTW, during the fall I do mulch the leaves with a mowers. I just pass over them several times to mulch them up with the zero turn.
Tasks today. Trim the grass. Put the new stickers on the plates of my three vehicles and new registrations in them. Got to put the new plate on the motorcycle. Weed and get the soil ready for planting in the flower bed around the base of my 30′ flag pole.
And if there is anything left in me after that, empty the last of the stuff I took out of my big truck from the rear of the FJ.
I will get on the zero turn and mow the rest tomorrow. Best to wait as long as I can since rain comes in Friday and it is going to be rainy for a couple days and then get cold again.
Bwahhhh haaaaa!
Wearing it proudly!
I want on of those! Maybe two even.
I love it!!!!
Went to kid’s doctor today. New guy. She’s 17 and he asked me to leave the room. Figured he was asking if I beat her. I could have told him “yes”. LOL JK
Then, when they were alone, he proceeded to ask her if she was in relationships and sleeping around!!! My daughter told me she was highly uncomfortable. I told her “You know, he wanted to write you a Rx for birth control.” She was appalled. I told her next time, advocate for herself and tell him that she didn’t want me to leave the room. Then, at the end of the appt… he tried to get us vax’d and said “it’s recommended”… yeah… wish I was swifter on the uptake as I would have laid this on him.
1) Who recommends it?
2) Does it prevent you from getting Covid?
3) Does it prevent you from passing Covid to others?
and finally
4) How much compensation do you receive if we relent to taking it?
A$$hat. He still seems to be a good doctor, but I could see that disgust in our vehement “NO!!!!”s in unison. Might as well load us on the railroad car.
Good for your daughter and for you JWoo! Wish more parents had their heads straight about all the evil that they’re trying to do to our children…
I am doing everything I can to warn as many as I can. We are witnessing some twisted times.
Happy 248th Anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord!!!
(That reminds me of a Harvard Lampoon cartoon from the 1950s; 2 Chinese men are walking along a path and one turns to the other startled “Was that a shot?!” with the date (April 19, 1775) at the bottom.
“April Morning” with Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Urich is still a good short TV movie that captures the scene of that day pretty well.
Good night, dear duchess.💕
