Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Hello Fellow Treepers!
A painterly sunrise in purple and gold. Fine art photo taken by me on a winter morning several years ago in Northeast Ohio. Wishing everyone a great day as we head into the weekend!
And here’s some music to go with the scenery – Handel (attributed) Suite in D Major for Trumpet, Stings, and Continuo as performed by New York Baroque Incorporated.
That was just right! Fits the picture!
Made me think of Handel’s Water Music. Then as I was looking, I saw these. Hope you like.
Handel Water Music: Hornpipe; FestspielOrchester Göttingen, Laurence Cummings, director 4K
Overture and Pastoral Symphony from Handel’s Messiah
Thank you very much, Michael! Have to get to work shortly, will probably enjoy listening to these selections this evening. Wishing you a magnificent day! 🙂
Have a great day! 🙂
Two very nice choices… the music and the photograph
Thank you very much, benzy! 🙂
Your work is simply amazing!
Thank you very much, Mary Van Deusen!

Howdy Garrison 🇺🇸🤠🇺🇸
Good morning, Mr jay. What a truly breathtaking photograph. Is it so high up that I’m seeing a low layer of clouds in the distance? Or snow…can’t decide.
Definitely a cloud layer I’m thinking could almost be a fire watch tower Maidin Mhaith Betsy 🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸
And here I am thinking deer blind. But what do I know. I think you’re right.
Looks like a Deer stand. I see them all the time, though not many made out of logs.
I know one thing I’d like to be there about the time all that snow is on just to have a looksee
It’s a good solid over-nighter!
Oh, good one! Great colors, composition and focus.
Speaking of Hermans Hermits: From the days of Milk boxes and glass bottles on the front stoop:

Love Julie London and perfect timing for me after a long week- now need to listen to a few of my grandfather’s recordings from “Stars of Jazz”. Thanks!
makes for a manly looking den, don’tcha think?
LOL!!!
That’s a solid fireplace , tho. Can’t argue with that.
Just perfect for when you prefer to grill in rather than grill out …
Sweet Man Cave!
Waaaaaay cool!
Waking up from a nap in front of the fire could be a bit…..unsettling.
Brilliant!
Cowboy Poetry. Pretty entertaining!
Thanks for posting, sunnydaze!
Poet 1) Sounds like a lot of horsing around to me! 😀
Poet 2) Quite a storyteller, kinda gives you second thoughts before you come back for seconds though! 🙂
suunnydaze, just saw that play last night on the Tonight show. What a hoot!!!!
Caught the end of it myself. That’s why I looked it up on YT.
Yaayy for re-runs!

Good morning, Garrison. I know this doesn’t in any way tie in with your great selections, but as I know your admiring of musicians who are artists with whatever instruments they play, I felt you would appreciate five minutes of a man who truly is the master of his. In Carnegie Hall no less. How very Larry Adler he is. Blessings to you all day long and beyond, my friend.
Mornin’ Bet 🙂 I made several efforts over the years to learn to play the harmonica . . . It’s harder than it looks to get that sound, alas. I decided I’d stick to guitar. Thanks for posting, however. He’s a really good player.
😉💕
WOW!!!!!
incredible I thought, FTS.
That was my reaction too!
He is Amazing!!
I always admire those who do what I can’t, marti…which is so much. I am not partial to the harmonica at all, but my goodness! I do tremendously admire anyone, on whatever instrument, being able to get through that well known Rossini piece.
Garrison, thank you for posting these classics from Little Feat, one of the most underrated and least known bands from “out” era. One of my all time favorite lines from a song comes from “Dixie Chicken”… “And as he handed me a drink, he began to sing a song,. and all the boys there at the bar began to sing along”. Here are a couple more of their classic songs
🙂
Saw Little Feat in Dallas in 70s, Lowell was still alive. Sat very close to the speakers. Loved the vibs then … now paying for it.
Not sure true but was told Bonnie Raitt sang in the recorded version and her voice can be heard singing “I hear ya moan” part. I wanted to believe it was true. … ah my youth…

Of these three songs, my vote goes to “Midnight Train To Georgia” … maybe it’s the mellow mood.
agree!
Prefer the Gladys Knight and the Pips version, probably because it’s the version I’m familiar with. Who came first?

It’s a different song, phoenix. Got the Georgia theme, tho.
Pretty sure it was Brook Benton; it was a big hit. I think that others who liked it did their rendition after. Happens a lot that the Original becomes less known or unknown with the next generation.
Tony Joe White
wrotepublished this in 1970, very similar to what Jim Wheatherly published in 1973, perhaps that why he used Houston instead of Georgia or he could have written before 1970 hence all the lawsuits between artists. One of my favorites when this was on the radio.

Loved it! Reminds me of my youth and days growing up in rainy Memphis. And that voice! Wow!
Thank you.
The Brook Benton version, that is,
If you are referring to the “day the music died” that would just be the day in general, specifically 1959. Which is supposedly partly inspired McLean to write this song.
<Don McLean – American Pie>
Have definitely heard of the tragic airplane crash. The one I miss most in that trio musically is Ritchie Valens of La Bamba fame.
Ironically, that plane crash which killed three musical stars of the time also was the beginning of stardom for Bobby Vee. The trio were on their way to a concert in Fargo, ND when their plane crashed. A local band, Bobby Vee and the Shadows, was hired to fill in and the advance team heard him and signed him to a contract.
For every story, there is a beginning, middle, and end …
There was someone who opened for Holly that gave up his seat on that plane and then went on to be famous–I’m thinkin Bobby Vee or Bobby Vinton–help me out here
Waylon Jennings, Holly’s bass player ,gave up his seat voluntarily to the Big Bopper.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddy_Holly#Winter_Dance_Party_tour_and_death_(1959)
Thanks —always a story behind the story.
Actually, the most I remember about Bobby Vinton is when I was younger, there were TV commercials for his music (greatest hits for $19.99 or something) and they always had him singing Blue Velvet in the ad.

Matthew 25:44 “Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we Thee an hungered, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto Thee?”
Matthew 5:21-22 “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: but I say unto you, That whosoever is *angry with his brother without a cause (the Original Text indicates, ‘as a course of habit’ – not out of passion) shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca (worthless), shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.”
First thing we have to understand, is that in both instances, the Lord is telling these things to His disciples. Jesus was not broadcasting in the wider audience of the world, nor even to the huge crowds that had been following Him. But He was talking to His disciples, the ones closest to Him. Why? So that they could have to bash over the heads of anyone who wasn’t part of their select group? Not hardly! Why did the Lord go first to the seven churches in Asia? Because judgment must begin at the house of God; and if we are to have the law of God written in our hearts and minds by His Spirit, through the Covenant of Christ; then the Terms of the Covenant that go to the heart, are necessarily binding.
Now, grant it, that the scene at the Day of Judgment being foretold, will include those that are without, yet it is obvious by the tone of what is being said, that these especially were shocked and in disbelief, as being in expectation for something else. Who should we suppose that these must be, but the “many” who were trusting, that the many wonderful works they were doing in His Name, and the fact that He was teaching in their streets, should have been the proof of their being saved! But Jesus says to them to their horror, Depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness; I never knew you.
So it is clear to understand in the Lord’s answer to them, that they ought to have known; if they truly were a people after His own heart. He tells these things to His disciples, because they (we) are called to be examples of the Believers, and signs to the world of the grace of God wrought in Christ. But so it is, that on account of negligence, “My people are destroyed for want of knowledge.”
In John chapter 8 is a clear example of this strife that many privately hold with the Lord Jesus: while demanding that they are the children of Abraham, and the children of God; yet at the same time fighting with Jesus, for telling them the truth; opposing and getting angry and offended, for demanding that they are right! So the Lord, in His extreme patience and grace to bear up under adversity, spends so much time trying to explain to them, who have no interest in being told a thing; till at length He puts it to them very straight and logically; “Why do you not understand My speech? Because you cannot hear My word . . . and because I tell you the truth, you do not believe . . . he that is of God hears God’s words.” (John 8:43,45,47)
So what of the Judge’s verdict, about not doing for the hungry and thirsty, the stranger and the naked and destitute, the sick and in prison? The Lord knows that we see them, and He is watching to see what we actually do for them. And His Statement concerning His decision shows, that it is the same neglect of Himself and His Holy Spirit, that was acted out in the negligence of their brothers and sisters in need. Now set this alongside the very reason why Jesus leaves us in the world, which is to continue the work He has started until He returns; and it is apparent, that the punishment fits the crime. “As Thou hast sent Me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.” (John 17:18)
It is in our innermost thoughts and intents of our hearts, where our attitudes and actions come from, where the work of saving grace is wrought. The Holy Spirit is the One called in to help (Paraclete), directs us to examine ourselves, whether we be in the faith; to come and present ourselves to God every day, to make an accounting, and set in order before Him; thus proving our sincerity and integrity by our love for one another.
What then does the Lord specifically point out, that His disciples are to take heed to? Generally, caring for the persons and things that He cares about. And what is the warning of judgment, and council, and damnation? Against that murder which comes from the heart; against indifference, superiority and contempt towards a brother or sister, as a course of habit, following the old lawless nature; thinking of them as worthless, or a fool! It is interesting, how some are so ready to pull out a Scripture to defend themselves against criticism or correction, saying, Judge NOT! while rejecting the innumerable Scriptures which plainly speak of walking in truth and sinning no more.
Jeremiah 7:8-11 ” Behold, you trust in lying words, that cannot profit. Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom you know not; and come and stand before Me in this house, which is called by My Name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? Is this house, which is called by My Name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, says the LORD.”
It is not for no reason, that Jesus made a scourge to whip the merchants and vendors out of the Temple. For the same reason are we baptized with the Holy Ghost and with fire, to burn up everything that can be burned; that the Building of God may remain. So we build: whether with gold, or silver, or precious stones; or with wood, hay, or stubble; the day shall declare what kind we are, and what is the true value of our works. So let us work and build, and use the most costly materials He has provided, paying the full cost as Jesus and all His holy apostles and prophets and saints great and small have ever done. For this is the only time we will have to get it right before we come before the Lord at that day.
good morning Treepers
Hey Joe how’s it goin?
Everybody’s saying good morning, and we’re getting ready for bed. Our new hours in retirement.
Doing ok. 24 degrees outside and I’m going back to bed in a few minutes. No real need to go outside for anything at the moment. Yep, retirement hours are a little different from the normal working schedule. I worked night shifts for a few years; nothing normal with that. I’m up around 3am for a couple of hours, sometimes up at 4:30am. Then back to bed for a little more sleep.
Yeah, I worked the night shift a lot over the years, (retail warehouse and grocery dept.), never really get used to it. Last five + years worked in Produce, which was always daytime. Now we just stay up till 6 in the morning and get up about 1:30 – 2 in the afternoon. We kinda want to get back to more normal hours, but there’s other issues we have to take care of, that are keeping us on this schedule.
Anyway, have a good one. Talk to ya later.
Wonder if someone will show AOC the article about her (and comments) posted here at CTH?
I think if anyone thought it would actually matter to AOC, someone might do it. But her kind of arrogance combined with her severe lack of critical thinking ability indicates that AOC would not gain any insight or wisdom from anything here at CTH.
True said. There really should be some kind of capability (and loyalty to the Constitution) tests, mandatory for holding such important positions.
Warming up some here. 32 degrees and clear outside. A little more comfortable than the last couple of days.

I love AMC cars! Shameful that the company was bought out. American Motor Corp. Did the first 4 wheel drive car and had some of the coolest 60’s muscle cars everyone has forgotten about. If you think about it the Gremlin was ahead of its time as was the Eagle. Wish I had me an AMX
Great pic ty
The 2 seater, 97 in WB, original AMXs I assume? AMC dropped the 2 seater after 3 years and made the AMX an upscale Javelin model. The Red-White and Blue paint jobs for the 2 seater AMX are show stoppers.
I think they are the coolest of all the muscle cars. Rambler Scrambler is another winner from AMC Boogy
I hardly ever see them on the road either.
My very 1st car was a 1961 Rambler Classic. I payed $35 for it and drove it over 3,000 miles until it died. What ailed it might have been fixable if I had any auto repair knowledge at the time. This would be circa 1970 – 1971.
I’ve always been a fan of straight sixes, and American Motors made some great ones. When AMC took over Jeep they ended up with the only production OHC straight six cylinder engine in America. Pontiac came out with their own OHC straight six a few years later.
In the Sixties, at least, these were the only OHC American engines, of any configuration, … I’m talking Big Four.
Mine was a ’62 Chevy Biscayne three speed on the column.
I had a ’71 E-100 Ford Econoline with the 240 ci and 3 on the tree.
There’s a used car dealer in Fredonia, NY on Rte 60 who usually has 3 -4 Javelins or AMXs on the lot at the same time … last I checked?
I so wish Boogy.

In August of 1970 I bought a new 1970 AMC Javelin SST 360 right off the showroom floor. Lime gold metallic with a black vinyl roof. Somewhat medium mint green corduroy interior, with a walnut wood-trimmed dashboard. Came with a 3-speed Borg Warner automatic driving a 2.73 rear. Great running car, and it was unusually comfortable to sit in for long drives.
Wife and I took it on our honeymoon in fall of ’72 driving all the way down Skyline Dive and Blue Ridge Parkway to Cherokee, NC, towing a new 1973 Wilderness 17 ft. travel trailer (had a class 3 hitch welded to the Javelin’s rear frame). The Javelin was an awesome towing vehicle up and down those mountains.
My father owned a succession of Ramblers, then AMC sedans through the 60’s 70s and 80s. My sister drove a ’66 Rambler American for years. We all got excellent service from those cars.
Trivia – George Romney (Mitt’s father) was CEO & President of American Motors from 1954 – 1962.
Wasn’t George Romney trying to get the AMC design teams to draw up a roof carrier for children and pets? The slogan was going to be, “Out of sight … Out of mind!”
I don’t think so. I never heard that and my father was Nash / Hudson / Rambler fan from 1950 forward.
It isn’t mentioned in this critique of Romney’s management of the company:
https://www.indieauto.org/2020/07/10/george-romney-made-eight-big-mistakes-at-amc/
You know … the story about Mittens going on vacation with his kids and he made the family dog ride in a carrier on the roof ????
That’s a far cry from his father supposedly designing a car to hold live passengers on the roof.
Rambler station wagons had a roof rack for luggage. That was all.
George Romney NEVER asked anyone to build a rooftop carrier. I was poking fun at Mitt Romney who really did put the family dog in a carrier on the roof!
Love the story friend. I bet you wish you still had it. Do you know if its still around?
I have no idea if it’s still around but my guess is – probably not. I have looked online for 15+ years to see if anyone was selling one like mine, but to no avail. There was one very close – same paint color but it lacked the unique side striping, had a different hood, amd a rear spoiler (mine didn’t). Also mine had a full black vinyl top and the ones online had the half-vinyl top, which I guess is more popular for collectors since it was very unique to Javelins.
This is the paint color but lacks the side striping plus all the differences I listed above:
This has the full vinyl top and the side striping like mine, but I didn’t have the Mark Donohue edition – no rear spoiler, no fancy rocker panels, no raised intake coupe on the hood.
https://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/1970-amc-javelin-sst-mark-donohue
The AMC Javelin was one of the prettiest muscle cars ever built in my book.

👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
Lol. Took me a minute, but I got it. Is that a 1970 AMC Gremlin? Haven’t seen one of those in ages.
Starsky and Hutch – My Old Yellow Car – Dan Seals
Now that really looks good, doesn’t it? Funny how we didn’t think much of things back then, but today we wish we could have them back! I think anyone would look pretty sharp driving around town in one of these.
I did know one friend who had a copy car painted like that. And another had a van painted to look like a Star Trek shuttle craft. Got to ride in that one!
Was it the Pontiac Trans Sport?
I’m amidst all this serenity I’m hesitant to post this but…
The, or is it my, world is going crazy. Batshit crazy…
First I get the following from my Credit Union:
Dear Valued Member,
Shell FCU is committed to keeping your account safe and secure. In keeping with this commitment we have strengthened our authentication process to help deter the potential risk of fraud. This additional security measure will now be used for specific transactions, either in branch or by phone.
A One-Time Authentication code will be sent to you via text message while you are with a Shell FCU employee or on the phone with a Shell FCU employee when completing specific transactions. This will allow us to quickly confirm your identity, by sending a One-Time Authentication code to your cell phone, in which you can provide to us immediately. Only provide this code if you initiate the conversation with Shell FCU and are in a branch, the drive thru or if initiated the phone call with a Shell FCU representative.
Should you have any questions or concerns please contact us at (713) 844-1100. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you!
Notice they did not mention what “specific transactions” will bear this burden. If needed why not request photo ID. You know like in the old days. So I thought that’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. Until…
I get the following text from Walgreens. This absolutely made my blood boil. And now Walgreens is aware of that as well.
Hello NMN,
Walgreens is committed to providing its patients with information on developments in the fight against COVID-19. A small number of people who have COVID-19 experience a return of signs/symptoms after initially feeling better. Pfizer is conducting a clinical trial for COVID-19 symptom rebound. If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and would like to see if you qualify, please use the daily symptom tracker at: https://trls.to/17em9c
I find it mind boggling that Walgreens would use my private contact information to solicit me to join a Pfizer, or any other, clinical trail. Still PO’d and it happened yesterday. Rest assured Walgreens is aware of my views on this matter.
I would love to move both accounts but – move’em to where? I do business with Chase via some business credit cards but their political involvement sucks as well. Only thing left on the financial end is a smaller credit union.
Walgreens/prescriptions is extremely convenient and my only other options seem to be either CVS or Walmart/Target. And I can’t think of any reason they wouldn’t be in bed with Pfizer as well so what’s the point? I suppose I could go somewhere on line but not sure my cardiologist would work my prescriptions through an online pharmacy.
I’m really sorry to read about this. One thing to keep in mind, however, is if you are taking maintenance medications prescribed by your cardiologist/other docs and do not use your insurance’s preferred pharmacy to fill those prescriptions it could be very $$ for you.
We are willing to pay the extra $ to keep the business with our small town pharmacist. Not only that but we dont even live near a walgreens, etc.
These insurance companies need to have sand thrown however possible. Makes me mad how they are trying to corral us, as michael mentioned.
Amjean on the Pres thread brought up a great point yesterday, how the government forced gas stations to purchase some new underground storage tanks that were quite expensive and put most of those small mom & pop gas stations out of business. That was really why they did it
CVS and Walgreens are short staffed with their pharmacists. So much so they’ve had to reduce significantly their pharmacy hours.
Perhaps their pharmacists now know they’ve been complicit pushing Big Pharma poisons and are quitting. I’d like to think that’s the case. I never understood how they could not know. Only a guess
We’re having the same”frustrations,” especially recently its getting really interesting. They are trying to corral us all in.

Good morning…Friday! 🤗
Miserere Mei (Latin for Have Mercy on me, O God): A musical setting of Psalm 51, a prayer for mercy! Originally written by Italian composer Gregorio Allegri during the 1630’s.
Here is a modern interpretation of this famous piece by Paul Schwartz…
The original version…
Good morning, juststevie. I have always loved this. And it was much loved in Britain, always played on our classical music station when we lived there. It spoke to many, and so lovely to hear it again. It must be very pleasing to Almighty God’s ear to hear a pleading for His mercies in such a reverent way. Blessings always.
. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.
The Jesus Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me, a sinner.

The 50th Psalm
Septuagint
Prayer of Saint Ioannikios the Great of Bithynia (+ 846)

From Small Compline
Rejoice Virgin Theotokos, Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, for thou hast borne the Savior of our souls. (Thrice)
PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

Verse of the Day for Friday, February 3, 2023
✟
“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:18 (KJV)
Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered!!!
“God is glorified by a thankful heart.”
Amen, dear duchess.🙏🏻💕
Yes, He is! And the devil Hates it when we are thankful. It fills him with fury.
My daily request of the Lord: please make me thankful and full of gratitude to You today – no matter what.✝️
Yes ma’am. And a big Amen! For all His blessings, which include even the smallest and those we may be unaware of. Of which I’m sure there are many.🙏🏻💕
Dear Betsy, hope this Scripture encourages you as it does me!
This is the “one” thing I’m most thankful for – the Good Lord does not treat us the way our sins deserve…
If He did, we’d be consumed. 💕
“He does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities. (10)
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him; (11)
Psalm 103:10,11
It absolutely does, dear friend. If there were to be one thing to be forever grateful for, it is that. Thank you so much for beautiful passage.🙏🏻😘
💕
Good afternoon Bet!
I am thankful to have power back on after 3 days. I am exhausted from non-stop things to do. Splitting firewood, bringing it in (couldn’t use my wagon because of the ice), maintaining the fire, making sure that the generator stayed full of gasoline, running the kerosene heater, defrosting the trucks, checking on my sister-in-law, on my mom, etc. No wonder I fill like rah’s 18 wheeler ran over me. 🙂 We still froze our butts off. Note to self, buy a second kerosene heater.
Plan for the rest of the day: do nothing.
Blessing dear sister!
Oh thank goodness!!!!!!! I am so glad!!
When I saw Frank’s message, I felt sick for you all. I seemed to remember you had a generator. And I’m sure you are glad about that. As I am. I hope your mother is all right.
Nothing makes me more furious than the fact, the absolute fact, that ERCOT is not fit for purpose. And that nothing has been done to ensure we wouldn’t go through another 2021… and now we have.
And while I’m truly sorry for everyone who did without the very necessary thing because of satanic green cult worship, the one hope I have is that those who push this from Austin really got a taste of what they’ve inflicted on rest of us…especially the wretched renewable lover Abbott.
There is no excuse for it. None. What makes it worse is that now there is anxiety about whether the power will stay on for the next time.
I am so relieved its back on for you, my dear brother!! Glory Hallelujah!!! Praise God!!!
I’d suggest at least a couple of days of do nothing to recover. You’ve done at least that amount for,I’d say, 3 workouts. Bet Not Milder has spoken.🤗😘🙏🏻👍🏻
Read about your dreadful circumstances, G, and hopefully, the end of them.
And hope your dear mamma came through ok.
If it’s not one thing, it’s another. Shaking my head in disbelief this happens in Texas? Would expect it here in Ga, but Tx?
Take care of yourselves.🙏🏻✝️
Okay, here we go. Enjoy.
Good morning, Joe. You got me!😊 Why do we love them so much? No answer for that, but videos like this really are an antidote for the world we live in today. This one is gorgeous.
I saw above you are thawing. We are as well, thankfully, though it is still quite sharp. Warmer as the day progresses and the days after at least here. Looking for that corner Spring is just around…
Be well, my friend. All blessings to you and your bride.😘
Good afternoon, Bet. One of the kitties was playing with what looked like a fishing line towards the end of the video; I hope there wasn’t a hook attached to it.
I seem to have better luck posting videos than I do with posting images. I don’t know if it’s my computer, the search engine, or copyright issues that prevent me from pasting images. It’s hit or miss with the images.
I saw that there was a serious ice storm that hit around the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Car accidents, downed trees, and power outages everywhere. Hoping you weren’t affected by the icy weather.
Blessings to you, have a great day. It is warmer now where I live; got down to the low 20s again last night. 40 degrees outside now. The back door is open so the dogs can get in and out while I’m getting some fresh air in the dining room.
We watched a video of some of those slip and slides. What we saw prompted me to text our driving teen grandlads (who thankfully had no school) to (in all caps) remember that bridges will freeze first. I noticed traffic going around the cars which had completely lost control was going at a heck of a clip. No consideration of the surfaces they were on. It’s other drivers, we told them, they need to be aware of. They are both careful drivers, but sometimes that counts for nothing if others are not.
We gave them each a St Christopher’s visor clip when they got their licenses🙏🏻.
Our sun is out as well, Joe, and like you down we go again for a sub 32 temp first thing tomorrow, warming up again as the day goes on, steadily getting better day by day.
Looks as if the Northeast is going to face dreadful cold coming from Canada…-50 windchill. And right on time, up go Natgas prices.
ERCOT and the climate cultist Abbot here and his enablers still don’t get it.
Perhaps now that Austin suffered week-long power outages, that’ll shake him from his somnambulence and lunatic worship of all things not “fossil” fuel. Won’t hold my breath…
Hope you got the sleep you needed (crossed fingers).💕
Oh and, Joe…you reminded me (but as usual it got lost in my post thoughts)…
Our black cat we had in Wales was walking around with a bit of thread (or cotton as it is called there) hanging out of his mouth.
My husband saw it and managed to get him in a quiet moment, and gently, very gently and slowly, pull it out. Little by little until in the end the length of it was about a foot long.
Had he simply grabbed and pulled, that thread would have lacerated him, and he might have bled to death.
I think Bubble (his name….the cat, not my husband😉) must have instinctively known he was being helped. He never moved. Afterwards, just imagining the harm we might have done, made us shaky for a while.
I suspect bless-ed St Francis was near….
Joe, I saw that, too. Looking closer it seemed to have a bell on end. Probably a cat toy. Such sweet videos. Loved them!
Greetings Treepers!
Recd a text from GrampM this morn…he’s been busy with a power outage for about 36 hrs. He’s in West TX. Please pray.
Daughter in Austin got their power on n stable after being out for a week.
🙏✝️🙏
Oh no!!!!!! I thought he had a generator, Frank! I saw Austin (but a whole week????) was badly hit and hoped it would not reach down to him.
ERCOT is a disaster. It’s not as if they didn’t have a heads up to get their finger out and fix what I used to think was a reliable grid. Never mind the big wake up in 2021.
Prayers for G headed heavenwards. Thank for so much for the information., my dear friend. B🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Here’s a link to Texas Scorecard. It’s not that good but at least it’s purely Texas news, for better or worse.
https://texasscorecard.com/
From Scorecard, this miserable indictment of energy rich Texas and their repeated failures to keep Texas warm in the winter. I never thought to see it.
https://texasscorecard.com/state/unreliable-energy-fails-to-deliver-for-texans/
Watermelon’s in action. Regards my friend.
Afternoon, Colkitto. It’s absolute madness. Cult believers can not admit they are and always will be wrong, and that’s not only their problem…we suffer for their delusions. I honestly thought Texas was better than this, when it turns out we are as bad as other states. It’s disgusting. I’ve seen this meme. And it is brilliant.
My whole house generator that we ordered several months ago has not arrived, yet. I have a gasoline powered 7.5 KW one that runs the water pump and the heat to keep it from freezing, also, the 2 freezers but that’s about it and requires refilling every 8 hours. Had a bad timing the first night and was out there at 2:30 AM refueling it. But it did the job. Just turned it off 2 hours ago.
Oh yes…now I remember there was quite a wait. Thank goodness for a backup then.
When are you expecting it now?
Don’t have any idea. 🙁
Well surely by next winter, when we will see the same script…
GrandpaM – you’ll love the whole house unit. I had one installed in fall of 2021, and it has magically warded off any power outages beyond a few seconds ever since. We were getting one or two multi-hour outages per year and even a few that lasted several days. I sold my gasoline-fueled “portable” (!!) Honda EU6500is generator after the Honeywell/Generac 17kWh unit was installed. As long as our natural gas service works, this provides us with peace of mind.
GB, we had one installed in 2004. After a few years of great service it got hit by a lightening that fried the switch. Replaced the switch and still no workie. After trying for year with multiple service people and several thousand dollars later we decided to pull the plug on the old Generac and ordered a new one. The 4 cylinder enngine on the old one still works great. Who knows, I may try to build a go cart.
Nipper would love that!!
Reminds me of how everything my husband know s he got from his dad who taught him. You go for it and teach that precious grandson all the things he’ll use when he grows up😘
Yep, there is definitely a whole house standby generator in my future. Hope GrampM is making out ok!
Sending up prayers for GrandpaM!
Thank y’all! Power finally on!
Well the fact that the UAH showed 0.04 deg. C cooling for January has brought the alamists out in force. They all need to go back to their office.

This afternoon I meet with my two brothers at the Trust Lawyers office. The single bone of contention having to do with bank stock, has been resolved in exactly the manner I thought it should be. So todays meeting will not involve the lawyer resolving any conflicts, but merely clearing up questions and selecting options for disbursement.
Thank God my family is doing their best to adhere to Dad’s wishes.
At a time of great grief, you are blessed with this. Way too many families do not handle it as well as yours, sadly.
18 deg. F right now here at my central Indiana home. “Real Feel” is 6 deg. Fireplace insert is pumping out the heat.
A bit of a gradual warm up coming over the next few days though.
It was a pretty tough week at work, but at least I was not sent to where the road conditions were really bad.
But this winter is far from over. All medium and longer range indications are that Joe Bastardi was right. It is going to be a long winter. And one like we have not seen for some time for most the US. More snow or frozen precip coming for many of us. And the tremendous snow pack in the mountains out west is going to continue to grow with significant snowfall continuing right through April and possibly into May.
La Nina conditions, though weak (Does not even get into the top 8 since 1950 according to NOAA), continues to persist.
So keep the home fires burning.
On our conversation the other day, the baked subs they do in SC where I live now, but not in NJ where I used to live.
I used to go to an Italian deli and buy all my components (sweet Proscuitto, Mozzarella, Chicken Cutlets, Eggplant Cutlets, Brooklyn bread (the best) Sun dried tomatoes or sweet peppers, throw some Balsamic vinegar reduction (sweeter) and eat like a champ. I grew up with all of these deli’s and sub shops and very immersed in that food culture. Your post brings back all of that. Ty and be safe out there friend
Yummy!! And here are we here tonight having scrambled eggs and toast for dinner.
(I’ve removed four eggs from our lock box for the occasion😁)
I found that egg thread yesterday highly interesting and important that you were responsible in some measure for. I see the connections. My great grandfather was a baker which makes it even more interesting for the poor bakeries in addition to the very important vaxx effects that eggs have. I couldn’t thumb you up because I was at work, but wanted to. Ty for your excellent posts as usual. Hope your all doing well. (How’s your son?)
He is doing very well. You are so sweet to enquire. First post on visit yesterday with x-ray, which he texted me. The surgeon does s very pleased. Everything is still in place with three screws. Now comes the healing, and he (my son) knows he has to follow every way instruction to the letter. So far good🙏🏻
Now…about those comments…
Do you believe in coincidence? Because I do not.
About 20 minutes before that thread went up, my oldest texted me to ask if I’d been following the egg stories. She then proceeded to send every single link , one right after another rapid fire.
I don’t know what made her do that as she is normally up to her eyeballs with her job. But she did.
And right after reading the first two she sent, I checked in to see if there was a new thread….and there it was… a perfect timely one for me to place those links and commentary. How fortuitous was that? Or maybe……
So all credit to her for those. Had to share. She is an incredible woman , and though I am her mother, I’ll say she really does work so hard, is excellent at what she does, struggles with an intense job and her three teens and their schedules…and would do anything for anyone who needs anything, no matter what it takes. I am her devoted admirer. 🤗
Also…today my husband went for me to pick up a couple of things at WM. He ran into a woman asking if he knew where the flour was, because she was unfamiliar with the store layout.
He directed her, and she said she normally goes to a large WM somewhere well out of the way, but when she went to get a dozen eggs, they were $8.00. Someone told her about our neighbourhood WM where we shop, and, rightly, they’d be cheaper though still hideously priced.
Wouldn’t you think the price would be universal for all their stores? Very naughty.
I am glad to hear he is doing good. Following protocol is important as I know from my bang up repairs. The follies of youth, at least thats my case.
And on your children I would not expect anything less from your family knowing you who have taught me much. In many cases we strive to emulate our parents & grandparents. Ty for your wonderful stories also.
Cheers

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍!!! Now you’ve done it!! I WANT!!🤗
( Once I start, my dearest friend’ I have trouble shutting up. Our dinner parties in Wales were full of political and social chatter. They were the best. You would have been in your element with your extensive historical knowledge. This I know absolutely💕)
The follies of youth, when we were sure nothing could hurt us, and we were going to live forever….
After the meeting at the trust lawyer I and my brothers went out and had a couple Margaritas and chips and salsa and bean dip at an excellent Mexican joint. It was excellent to bond with my brothers. Been a long time since that happened and it was excellent.
There is nothing more excellent than family, and nothing better than the love one feels from it.
I remember the old days of sunday dinners with a gigantic bowl of ziti, meatballs, & sausage and playing cards while watching football games
I will never forget the time in Wales, after some delightful spring weather and having planted all my flowers on May 31 (thinking it was safe to do so), going to bed on the Eve of June 1, and waking up to the sound of our farmer neighbour’s JCB straining outside out bedroom window in the narrow lane leading to our house.
We looked and couldn’t believe what we saw…snow to the top of our hedge row (over 6′ high). The worst was the new spring lambs were in the fields who were subject to the cold which came with it.
All my beautiful impatiens took the hit. And it was thus I learned the truth of the old saying in Blighty, “Ne’er cast a clout till May is out.”
A severe lesson in the truths of those old adages…
It’s a old classic book & movie that was redone (and not ruined). The original & remake are both good and of course family friendly. A bit of a tear jerker also.
You know, Colkitto…I remember this one. My current self cannot bear tearjerkers. I see too much of the world we are in which induces enough tears.
I will pass this one on though. I appreciate so much your recommendation for the Narnia Library.😘
I wanted to tell you besides the wonderful Wonderworks Narnia movies, there was a cartoon of the Lion,Witch, and the Wardrobe done in the late 70’s that I saw a long time ago. It may be worth a purchase. Cheers
I’m positive I saw that! In fact it may well have been that which introduced me to Lewis’s books.
The Many Faces of Christian Nationalism
John D. Wilsey
We should take the nuances of American history seriously. That includes the role of religion in American nationhood.
https://lawliberty.org/features/the-many-faces-of-christian-nationalism/
Thank you, Paul. The Left has co-opted all the “-isms” and used them for their purposes, all nefarious and accusatory.
Christ said that there would be persecution for His sake, and so it is.
In the Ukraine, Orthodox Russian Christianity is being targeted, attacked, and well on the way to being banned. By a debauched and godless Zelenskyy, and of course.
Here it would be helpful to the Christian cause, also being targeted, if there weren’t so many leaders of so many denominations who willingly have taken the metaphorical knee to the fascists and haters of God in the tyrannical government.
It has been one of the most shocking and distressing things to witness during the past three years…to see just how many have forgotten it is to Almighty God only they should kneel.
An exceptional find. Thank you!

Archbishop Vigano knows, and has defined the Deep Church. Of course speaks of the Catholic Church. But it seems other denominations are as infected, at least to my eye. I was reared in the Episcopal church, which today bears no resemblance of the bless-ed one that I miss so much, with the Rector who was also a family friend. And that is source of sorrow for me. I look forward to watching.
Hey, here we go. More kitties.
So regal aren’t they.
They are quite regal. No wonder the ancient Egyptians worshipped cats.

There can never be too many!!!
Hi, Bet. True fact, there can never be too many cats.
I’m back home after spending some time with my spouse. She didn’t want to go to the dining room for dinner, so I stayed with her in her room and helped her with eating. By guess and by golly, she ate everything. She even went along with the finger stick and insulin injection. I gave her some small tangerines along with her dessert. She went to sleep afterwards and I watched “Last Man Standing” on her tv. Made sure the fall pad was on the floor by her bed before I left.
Thank God for the small victories; I’ll take ’em.
Joe, this is wonderful news! And I know it thrilled you as well. I am so glad. Small victories to some are large to others. I put this in the “large” column, for her definitely, and you. God is truly good.🙏🏻🤗
