Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

that’s a grumpy cat
here’s a black-cat casting call for a motion picture, looks like 50s (pre-Kennedy, judging by the gentleman in the suit and hat in the distance)
Wow. Wonder what movie it was.
The photo was taken in 1961…auditions for the movie “Tales of Terror”, released in 1962.
https://www.life.com/animals/black-cats/
The movie was an anthology of Edgar Allan Poe stories, starring Vincent Price, Basil Rathbone, and Peter Lorre.
Thank you!! Very interesting about the cats. I can not imagine being able to do something like that today. All those cats on leashes. Black cats – nobody was superstitious in that group.
thx for the fill-in, aDoozy
Looks like the time when all cats were leash trained. 😀
My Cecil-the-Panther certainly would not be behaved well enough for the casting call, though as a Siamese, he sings well!
😂💕
I always say every day on this side of the flower bed is a good day, life’s troubles notwithstanding. He will give us grace to deal with anything that comes our way if we seek Him first.
Truth!
A daily reminder of mine: “This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24
We can be glad because the Lord is with us, and He will give us whatever we need.
No fears, no worries – we have Him…
Amen!
“So, you want me to celebrate the new year, on course to be a repeat of last year- and likely worse?”
(Not my mindset, but the cat’s – haha!)
We can always count on our cats to keep us grounded, right?
Happy New Year’s Eve, Fellow Treepers!
Female Cardinal perched at dusk during a snowfall, in the Brecksville Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks in Northeast Ohio. Photo taken by me years ago.
And for later on tonight, in memory of a former boss of mine who always used to host a fabulous New Year’s Eve party at his mansion, here’s a song that he and his wife used to play every year during the party … he played the violin, she played the baby grand piano. “Czardas” by Vittorio Monti, based on a Hungarian Gypsy folk dance.
I know this so well. My goodness! Imagine the joy the two of them had in performing together for friends, family, or simply when they were by themselves. He and she must have been an extraordinary couple.
Your little cardinal is lovely…all puffed up in her finery and ready to see in the New Year.
Blwydden Newydd Da to you as well, phoenix. And thank you so much for sharing all your lovely photographs, which have added so much to this branch of our Tree. 😘
Welsh is one language I’m not familiar with, Betsy jones, closest I come is being able to order apple pie in Irish Gaelic. But through the magic of Google Translate, thank you for your New Year’s greeting and kind compliments, and I wish you a successful and prosperous New Year as well! 🙂
Yes, they were quite a couple, both of them exceptionally gifted, and loved performing music together at their New Year’s Eve party and other musical parties during the year. That said, they were very gracious to share the spotlight with other musicians, encouraging them to bring an instrument to the party, and inviting professional singers in attendance to share a song or three, with the rest of us singing along as we wished, to mainly Broadway show tunes. In an ideal world, I could tell far more of their fascinating story, but for the sake of their privacy, best to keep it brief. They’re the kind of people you could write a novel about, if not make a movie.
Do you have a favorite song or tradition you associate with New Year’s Eve?
A Welsh one, yes…
It is customary to stand outside one’s residence at midnight on New Year’s Eve with a piece of bread in one hand and a lump of coal in the other.
Then knock on the door, whereupon one is granted entrance into the house. The significance is that by doing so, those who reside there will be neither hungry nor cold during the year to come.
I had forgotten that until you asked. And I am grateful for your having resurrected a beautiful memory for me. Many thanks. Just thinking of it has given me a tremendous lift🤗
Ah yes Betsy coal! With the new world order we need it in sacks not just one lump.
A happy new year to you and all Treepers – btw it’s considered bad luck here in dreary Scotland to extend new year greetings before midnight – but good wishes should be extended any time.
There is just too (did you notice I can spell ‘too?) much misery about.
Well there is always the upcoming ‘big night’….January 25th…
https://www.scotland.org/events/burns-night
And Hogmanay!!!! Tonight. Sorry Patrick that I didn’t wish you a happy.one, whether or not you’re out and about or home.
Rabbie Burns will just have to wait😉
Good morning, Patrick! What a joy to see you off your usual branch. As for bad luck, it would have to go some to beat this year I think. I’m hoping to reverse the trend by wishing all a far better New Year, no matter where they are😁. I’m so glad to have the opportunity to do so for you, my Scottish friend.
Hoping that Welsh tradition hasn’t been murdered by the dim and heartless people who have no concept of beloved traditions…or anything else which is beautiful and precious. Be well, Patrick…and yes, I did notice you can spell…bravo😉
Too many people today despise tradition for no good reason, but just because they didn’t start it.
Good morning Liz! Your comment reminded me that on Christmas Day I told two of my grandchildren, miss V and her brother, that the 3 of us are starting a new family tradition. The only problem is, I can’t remember what it was. Maybe they will when I see them this afternoon. 😆
Tradition is the glue which holds us all together…connects us with those who came before us, a gift to bequeath to those who follow us. So precious, so valuable, so grounding. It is a beautiful word which stirs memories, souls, and hearts. We would be so much the poorer without it.
Betsy, your comment stirs me to deeper thought about tradition(s).
I agree with you; however, I wonder “why” some in our country seem bent on destroying/removing traditions, etc., Christmas/other holiday celebrations, historical statues, and so.
I suppose the culture rejects such as they don’t accept them for what they represent. The traditions are NOT of value to them and do not stir their memories or hearts as you eloquently stated.
All I know to do is pass on traditions of “truth” based on God’s Word, and to love family and country?
Perhaps, Della, it is a roundabout way of trying to destroy the immutable truth of something greater than themselves.
Tradition (in small things and large), in the sense that we think of it as something enduring and good, is a gift of the spirit. I agree with you.
So evil which has collected a shocking number of souls wishes to destroy (and denigrate) the past and all our connections with Almighty God…family being the building block of a cohesive and moral society. And by extension and eventually to remove God entirely. It is a fool’s errand. And in the end their futile attempts will be their downfall.
It is, I believe, vital to disabuse the delusional by passing down traditions of value. And it is our duty as older conduits to do our part in making certain they live on with our beloved children and their children. A great gift to our progeny that I suspect they will come to appreciate more in their later years. May our Father be with us in our endeavour.💕
A beautiful reply, Betsy. You’ve said it completely! There’s nothing to add.
A Bless-ed New Year to you, Della. I feel as if I’ve known you for years.😘
You’re so kind, Betsy.
I’ve only been here few months, but so enjoy the fellowship. It’s rare, right?
Blessed New Year to you and yours.
It doesn’t take long to settle in, as I discovered after my first comment after years of being a devoted lurker. And yes…rare. I can think of only one other site I visit daily where those who comment are like family.
I feel like an eavesdropper when I read their back and forths. But there is just something so special about this one, the only one I comment on. I feel at home. I’m so glad you find it so as well, Della. A very bless-ed New Year to you as well😘
Not exactly “at home” like you are, Betsy, but I do feel welcomed to participate.
I’m sorta like your feral cat you’ve spoken of – just tiptoeing up to the porch to check it out, ya know? Ha!
And this…
” Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire.”
~Gustav Mahler~
Perfect! Purest art.
Thank you very much, Mary Van Deusen! Coming from you, whom I consider to be a highly talented creative force to be reckoned with, compliments like this mean alot! Wishing you all the best of success in the New Year! 🙂
I have a bunch of Cardinals at my feeders and when there is snow those males really stand out.
Cardinals are ‘visitors’ from heaven so someone is visiting you…I lost my parents within 8 weeks of each other, (15 years ago)…
Since then, frequently, there is a male-female pair who hang out in my yard…always together except when nesting. I guess now it would be their offspring…
One day, they both were perched on a branch by a window…looking in…they stayed there while I talked to them, and they just kept looking at me….
Safly, we don’t have them where I live, but we do have Blue Jays and my favorite, Mallard ducks.
You also probably have other gorgeous birds that are local to you but aren’t native or common to Ohio, so I would consider them exotic and wish I could see them …
Cardinals can definitely brighten any snowy day! 🙂
Or any day! We have backyard FULL of them, and I never get tired of their beauty.
True enough! I’ve always loved Cardinals too! 🙂
Saw your post a little farther up about traditions. There was probably more I should have shared about the couple who used to host their musical New Year’s Eve party … the main piano player guest always played the theme songs for the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines and had the whole group of us sing along as loud as we could.
So it wasn’t just a typical party of people vegging out in front of a TV the whole time. It was people actually holding conversations while enjoying a wonderful potluck meal, making their own music with their own instruments, singing songs steeped in Americana … one old lady even played the spoons to accompany the piano! At that point, a delighted hush would fall over us all as we watched in amazement.
Traditions well loved and full of life are definitely what we need more of. Which is why I posted in memory of the man who once hosted these parties … because at his passing, he had touched so many lives that the funeral procession stretched to about a half mile down the highway, with people coming in from multiple states.
I read your recent post about this, phoenix, and it touched my heart, then (especially the part about the funeral procession), and it still touches!
Such a blessing for you to be included in their gathering… and now to savor the wonderful memories.
Probably many of those that were there are still telling others their recollections, too.
Your hosts would be so humbled…(if they knew.)
Yes, you’re right – we really should make effort to pass on traditions that are meaningful and loved.
The challenge can then become, what can each of us do to pass on these traditions, and especially in these challenging times? Each one of us will have a different answer based on our God-given gifts.
Love this, phoenix…
Definitely something to ponder in days ahead.
He will lead us!
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
Amen! 🙂
From your poignant description, I suspect it would have shocked him had he been able to see it, phoenix. A beautiful tribute to a man who it seems gave much more to life than he took.
I see them in both the front and back yards where I live. They are pretty.
What a treat for you to enjoy! I love ALL birds, really. So thankful they’re in our lives.
I used to feel sorry for female being so much plainer than the bright red male Cardinal- until I saw a female perched in the sunshine with her feathers shining like gold.
Everyone gets a chance to shine! 🙂
Yes.
She and many female birds are thus “camouflaged” by God in order to protect herself and her young in the tree-situated nest….
And the males are bold and bright to both attract a potential mate and to distract predators away from the female on the nest…
Let an atheist try to convince me that’s just an “evolutionary development” and not yet another brilliant design by the Lord our God….
🙂
This is so sweet, GB. I knew the males were more attractive so as to attract mate, but not about drawing predators from the nest! God took care of every detail, didn’t He?
Atheists don’t have a leg to stand on according to His Truth here:
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” Romans 1:20
Too many look, but don’t see.
They’re “spiritually-blinded” and only God can remove blinders and open eyes.
I’m indebted to Him for giving me sight.🙏🏻
beautiful picture of that cardinal!
Isn’t she a fluffy, lovely girl?!
Thank you very much, suejeanne! Wishing you a wonderful New Year’s Eve! 🙂
The Cardinal is the one bird that is here where I now live every day. I never get sick of them. Very nice picture.
(They have nested here also, except I re landscaped with natives and bird friendly plants and took away their former nesting spots, unfortunately)
Thanks for the kind comment Colkitto,
And don’t feel too bad about kicking out the Cardinals (hopefully they’ll be back) … My grandpa was once watering the plants with a garden hose and ended up completely soaking an active nest full of Dark-eyed Juncos who had taken up residence in a flower pot! (oops!)
It’s a good point for a couple reasons, as a Christian it will make you think. Can I lose salvation.?
Then, what is salvation?
What I know is salvation is a relationship with God. If you believe you are worthy at any point your wrong, your not. It’s Jesus righteousness we just say “I do” in marriage to our groom. So do we lose that? I don’t know how, and I sin. Do I know I sin? Most of it I do but how can you know every way you push him away? That becomes the law.
Good points, and we should all remind ourselves of them from time to time.
So would you say that you’re a Messianic Jew then?
This song is a story of my whole life. The only difference is that she stuck by me through it all. Love you ‘babe . . . 🙂
One more . . .
Garrison, as you posted some of Queen’s best the other day, I thought you’d like to be the first to know on this thread that Brian May has been knighted in The New Year’s Honours List in Britain.
I bet he never expected to be so honoured.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11586635/Rock-legend-Brian-knighted-20-years-rocking-roof-Buckingham-Palace.html
I adore Judy Dench..And we watched every Proms which was televised when we lived in Blighty. She is an actress of supreme talent…but I never knew she sang. It was lovely to see this. And especially your heartfelt message to your always beloved bride whom you will see again.
Well, sometimes reality bites . . . only in a good way, Bet. Of late, I’ve been having some how-in-the-hell-did-I-get-here ruminations. I guess when you reach this point in life that sort of thing sort of comes with the territory.
The bottom line: we stuck by each other—we understood how love is based on trust and loyalty—for 55 years. I freely admit, however, that she was always way smarter than me. Couldn’t have made it without her. When the chips were down—and they were several times—she was always there with her pickup and the tow-strap. 🙂
Blessings bestowed upon you both…it seems today, that type of love is rare.
🙂 That’s why I always try to talk about lasting love resting on the foundation of trust and loyalty. 🙂
My bride, Sherry, has been the ballast on my ship, sometimes the ship of a fool. We made 53 years this past June 20. Nowadays she is a bit more frail than me so I’ve assumed the balancing part. Wonderful days we have made together. Congrats to you sir.
And to you also, George. In fact, good on you both—I’m betting that your love-affair will grow even deeper. Our’s surely did. The night she passed, when I kissed her forehead and told her I loved her. it felt as real and deep as it did 55 years ago when we were flying kites off the seawall. I knew, then, that i’d found The One. It felt the same on that last night. 🙂
I confess I’ve been doing the same, turning around to examine the road I’ve traveled…and seeing the potholes which I’ve stepped in, some very deep, wondering from my vantage point now why I simply didn’t walk around or over them instead of straight through. So yes, that sort of reflection comes with the territory. Yes it does. Bless you, my friend. 😘
Blessings on you also, Bet. My dad in his on-the-road wisdom—doubtless a subtle observation on my lifelong tendency to run down rabbit-holes—always said that we butt our heads against brick walls . . . because it feels so good when we stop. Still hate bullies, however. 🙂
No…no time for them as well. My husband’s father in post war Britain used to tell him when confronting one, “Warn them once.” That was sound advice back then where they were. As was this…
You teach people how to treat you.
Also true…
My wife and I used to watch “As Time Goes By” when we had cable tv. We were both fond of that show and other British sit-coms. Judy Dench and Geoffry Palmer were great.
Brian is one of the world’s great guitarists. His singularly distinctive riffs made the Queen songs what they were. Most people don’t know that he was also a Ph.D. level astrophysicist.
I knew that at one point and had forgotten. Much as Dolph Lundgren’s surprising educational bona fides. Life had something else in mind.
An absolute treat, Garrison!💕🎵💕
Good morning Garrison! I see a tendency developing here. Most of us have married brides smarter than us guys. 😊
😁😘
You’re making me laugh, Grandpa!
(I even remind husband not to criticize my choices – as he’s one of them!)
😂 Wise woman!
Trust and loyalty, Della . . . :-0
Oh, I agree, G!
Those are foundational pillars.
And I would add another – forgiveness. Lots of it. Both ways.
That’s what my dear grandmother said helped her make sixty-seven years of marriage…(to the same man)
Gee, ‘ya think Gramps??? The fact that we’re still standing says it all, I think!
Lovely lovely!~ Many thanks!
Happy Caterday, Treeper friends. This is a good story about saving an old kitty whoreally needed saving. People who do this for animals are blessed . . . 🙂
I knew an old cat I named “Big Daddy”. He was part of a colony of baby doll Siamese cats caretakered by an elderly Greek gentleman neighbor. He also had horses.
When the man died , we fed the many cats of this colony until an organization called “Forgotten Felines” came in and trapped them for us. Brenda was a young woman who volunteered to catch these half feral colonies and bring them in for treatment. She had a gift.
Big Daddy, Little Girl, Eyepatch, Lucy, Grumpy kitty,I named them all, found new homes after medical attention and care from these people. Some found new homes as barn cats, Big Daddy was rescued by a woman in a senior home where he became a much beloved companion, but all were saved.
If you have donation to make, I recommend “Forgotten Felines” in Sonoma County, California. They do amazing work.
They may be in other areas of the country as well.
The mention of the Greek gentleman reminded me that after our 2 trips to Greece, my bride had a bunch of pictures that she named “The Cats of Greece.”
🙂
for awhile there was an old stray cat who frequented the backside wing hallway of the lofts.. he was a big black and white tomcat.. he had a big head with battle scars and walked with a limp.. I called him “big head”..
I let him stay with me when I was home.. he came and went as he pleased.. after awhile he began to wait for me.. he’d show up in the hall or at my door whenever I came back from offshore.. I loved big head.. we were buds..
🙂
I have a rescue cat… one who is part Maine Coon… long, fluffy fur. We believed she had been abused by her previous owners, based on her reaction to me whenever I came near her. It took her seven years to develop a trust with me. Her connection with Fran was instant, however and she would sit with her at every opportunity. Now that it is just the two of us, she depends on me, but it is much more than just that. She actively follows me to whatever room I am in. (Yes, even there) She hops in the bed at night and wants me to pet her before she can turn and take her chosen place at the foot of the bed. This video struck me since my cat is also 18 years old and arthritic. I watch her walk with a limp and know it must hurt her. But hearing her purr as I pet her… and when I give her a “good morning” hug when I get up is the most precious noise in the world.
💕

Duke, Dean, Ricky, Betty and the Coles, you are missed.
I’d hoped Betty would have made it to 100. I was sorry she didn’t.
She was married to the compere of Password, Alan Ludden. I remember thinking how mismatched they seemed to be, as she was often one of the celebs on that show.
But I was younger then and superficial. It was their banter, their back and forth, the undeniable connection that they had with one another that immediately struck me…and it was a joy to watch. They were great and good friends, as well as husband and wife. I have always remembered that about them…
I love it when I must turn to the dictionary when reading your posts B. Compere, who knew aside from you? Happy New Year and Happy New words (thanks and blessings). P
P, I did the same thing!
I love it, too.

December 31 Oswald Chambers
Yesterday
You shall not go out with haste,…for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard. —Isaiah 52:12
Security from Yesterday. “…God requires an account of what is past” (Ecclesiastes 3:15). At the end of the year we turn with eagerness to all that God has for the future, and yet anxiety is apt to arise when we remember our yesterdays. Our present enjoyment of God’s grace tends to be lessened by the memory of yesterday’s sins and blunders. But God is the God of our yesterdays, and He allows the memory of them to turn the past into a ministry of spiritual growth for our future. God reminds us of the past to protect us from a very shallow security in the present.
Security for Tomorrow. “…the Lord will go before you….” This is a gracious revelation— that God will send His forces out where we have failed to do so. He will keep watch so that we will not be tripped up again by the same failures, as would undoubtedly happen if He were not our “rear guard.” And God’s hand reaches back to the past, settling all the claims against our conscience.
Security for Today. “You shall not go out with haste….” As we go forth into the coming year, let it not be in the haste of impetuous, forgetful delight, nor with the quickness of impulsive thoughtlessness. But let us go out with the patient power of knowing that the God of Israel will go before us. Our yesterdays hold broken and irreversible things for us. It is true that we have lost opportunities that will never return, but God can transform this destructive anxiety into a constructive thoughtfulness for the future. Let the past rest, but let it rest in the sweet embrace of Christ.
Leave the broken, irreversible past in His hands, and step out into the invincible future with Him.

Worst Drought In 1,200 Years | Real Climate Science
This same wet weather pattern used to be called “the Pineapple Express”. But that wasn’t scary enough so they renamed it “an atmospheric river”.
I swear that if a person hadn’t been there and just got their information from “the news” they would think that California is one big perpetual natural disaster area. If it’s not drought and wildfires, it’s flooding and mudslides. Just 5 1/2 years ago the headlines were about the failure of the spillway of the Oroville Dam and the evacuation of those downstream in case of a catastrophic failure due to the massive overflow.
Having lived there for nearly four decades, I can tell you that much of what happens in California is due to mismanagement or a total lock of management at all. Monies collected and earmarked for projects (such as the Oroville dam) are spend on social engineering and social justice programs instead. (with little positive result, I might add) The forest lands used to be cleared of debris and deadwood for years, then the liberal mindset took over and that stopped. Of course, that led to nature doing it herself in the form of raging wildfires to clear out the debris. Every year (or so it seems) the gasoline tax is raised to pay for highway improvements and maintenance, but the monies get spent on the homeless (creating programs that don’t solve the problem, but merely encourage homeless in other areas to move to California for the extra benefits and the climate) Then the gasoline tax is once again raised because those highway projects are still not completed. Now they have unreliable electrical power and rolling blackouts due to government nearly regulating PG&E out of existence. Of course, electric rates have skyrocketed since the power companies must collect the money to implement the mandated changes
P.S.: I no longer live there. It simply became much too expensive a proposition to live there,
Good morning all! And some news for you folks in OZ that I doubt will get much press.

A perfect take on EV buyers and owners.
Hey taxpayers, subsidize my new car.
Hey taxpayers, I don’t want to wait to charge my car. Subsidize more charging stations.
Hey, look at me, I’m saving the planet.
EV vehicles create more pollution than gasoline vehicles.
EV cars, busses and trucks are more dangerous and liable to catch fire.
EV vehicles of all kinds from motor scooters to trucks are more expensive and the cost of replacing the batteries is prohibitive.
…and more human misery from the mining of the materials necessary for those unreliable, expensive batteries. The worst cost of all.
People in LA avoiding public charging stations because they are surrounded by homeless encampments; NYC bought EV garbage trucks–when used for plowing, dead in 4 hours…what a world

As we enter the new calendar year, 2023,
Help us – Give us courage to be truly free,
For only those that You make free
are free indeed.
May we resolve
to stand with You
Aligned with Your Will
and Your Way of Love, Truth and Life
Against all evil, oppression, lies and propaganda.
Against all that contradicts and conflicts with
Your Holy Word.
In the Name above all names,
Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Savior, King of Kings, Lord of Lords,
The only Name by which we may be saved.
Amen.
Amen!
Amen, amen.
Praying for Blessings in the New Year for each of you! And that whatever comes our way, we will persevere for our God and Jesus Christ…that He will remain King of our hearts.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.
Verse of the Day for Saturday, December 31, 2022
✟
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33 (KJV)
Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered!!!
For the large ones down to the smallest, thank you Father. May we all be given the sight to see them all and be grateful.🙏

BABY LIVES MATTER
JESUS LOVES THE LITTLE CHILDREN
Please, please pray for God’s intervention in this bless-ed little boy’s life, and for his brother who is also in the maniacal disturbed sights of his mother. And please for his father who has fought for all he is worth to save him and who has been rebuffed by every court he has pleaded with. Utter shame on the Texas Supreme Court. A miracle is needed. Hear our prayers, O Lord.🙏

PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
Thank you so much, duchess, for all your posts this year – consistently – words of Life, words of Truth.
We need them – more than ever. Bless you.
Happy New Year, everybody!
Request from those who have already had COVID:
How long does this insane exhaustion last after you get over COVID?
I’m 11 days out from the positive test, I feel better than I have the last week and a half, but this exhaustion is ridiculous.
A while, Greg, from what I’ve read from others who have had it. Take each day as a measure from the last. Dr Malone strongly suggests for those who are recovering to take NAC 1200 mg/ daily. Any supplement store will have it…not however Amazon, which was ordered by the government to not sell it. We got some from Sprouts for my husband. You might like to research it first, but it has been on the market for years and years. Wishing for you a speedy return to your old self.🙏
Thanks Betsy! I’ll look for the NAC 1200.
I’m genuinely surprised this stuff hit me this hard.
Gotta whup up on the exhaustion like it’s whupped up on me!
A little over an hour ago, a friend of mine texted me; she has covid. Again. She used one of the test kits at home and it showed positive. She told me that she not only got the vax, but has had 4 booster shots. She insisted on getting the vax when it was first rolled out. I tried to tell her what I was seeing on various web sites about health risks associated with the clot shot. We almost got into an argument over it; I backed off, figuring it’s her decision. A few days ago, I dropped to check on my friend and she did look terrible.
I’ve had covid before (once). It’s not pleasant, but it passes in a few days.
No vax for me. Apparently, the vax and boosters are neither safe nor effective
Hi Greg, sorry you’re going through this…From what I’ve seen/heard, everyone is different.
My AS had a really bad variant, delta, in 2021. Took him about two months to recover.
My husband and I “celebrated” New Year’s Day 2022, with omicron – and took us about a month to feel normal.
Give yourself plenty of self-care and don’t rush it. Hopefully you’ll feel better soon.
Sending prayer up for you.
Thanks for the prayers and info, Miss.Della.B, especially the prayers. I’m glad this isn’t the worse variant. I just can believe the exhaustion. It’s been like the flu that wouldn’t leave.
You are so welcome, G. I’m thankful it’s not one of the initial variants either. Many didn’t make it.
We almost lost our AS. His symptoms were horrific, and he ended up with pneumonia.
The whole Covid situation has made my blood boil – how can people be so evil to afflict millions with this misery?
One day, though, they will give account.
Please take care of yourself!
When you see evidence of God’s reality through your circumstances, it’s so incomprehensibly mind blowing. God really does take care of his children. Thank you God! Thanks you Jesus! Thank You Holy Spirit!
Amen. We only need to have eyes “to see” and ears “to hear.”
Every time I “recognize” His Presence in circumstances, it’s overwhelming.
Fills my heart with thanks and gratitude!
Lately, I begin my day asking the Lord: Please don’t let me miss you today, Holy Spirit. I do not want to miss you!
The LORD bless us and keep us in 2023,
Make His Face shine upon us every day of this new year,
The LORD turn His Face upon us, and give us PEACE.
His Blessing is stronger than all that will come our way in 2023.
He is faithful and will never let go of us, we are His precious children.
Amen.
Amen.
The Proxy War In The Ukraine.
Here we go again, with the usual, Congressional clapping-chauvinistic agitprop from the MSM. What is worse, is the rah rah B.S. from guys like this at Red State which is supposed to be unencumbered with the usual garden variety, run of the mill lies that most Americans buy into from the Main Stream Media. This guy is so awful.
https://redstate.com/streiff/2022/12/30/putins-war-week-44-drones-strike-russian-strategic-bomber-base-again-and-prigozhin-makes-his-move-n681128
Here is a list of where Washington D.C. “planted flags” and wreaked havoc on foreign soil that diminished us as a nation, expended middle class blood and treasure in securing power and money for our ruling class.
https://williamblum.org/essays/read/overthrowing-other-peoples-governments-the-master-list
Monroe Doctrine for me, but not for thee.
The 75 year history of lies, deceit, agitprop and propaganda that have seen us send our kids home in body bags, or, through Walter Reed, sans their appendages for a fantasy and a trick of fame, is a disgrace that seems to never end.
Make no mistake about it, from the bodies of every dead man woman and child, Ukrainian and Russian that are stacked like firewood in the streets, exsanguinating into the gutters, there is a straight line reference to our Intelligence Agencies, our State Department, our government and the corrupt, venal, obscene politicians who manipulate the American electorate and murder foreigners for profit.
The pretense that Ukraine is a democracy is preposterous. It is now and has been, a U.S. taxpayer laundering scheme concocted by gangsters in Washington D.C. (Most notably, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Pelosi, Romney and of course the Clintons and the Bidens.), who have bled the country dry by diverting that same tax payer money into No Show jobs, PAC organizations and various and sundry “pay for play” schemes that enriched our elites, devastated our middle class and murdered the unfortunate foreigners who were shoved into the American foreign policy wood chipper.
This is just another, “Gulf of Tolkin”, “Weapons of Mass Destruction” lie that is fed to the world in order to make bank on the backs of the dead.
We are not as evil as Hitler, Stalin and Mao at this point, but, we are certainly approaching Pol Pot territory.
Respectfully, with your permission, I ask, what is to be done?
The “Intelligence” Agencies that assassinated the Kennedys, now turns it’s murderous eyes to us. “Domestic Terrorists’ who will not buy into the lies anymore.
Mao said that “Power stems from the end of a gun barrel”. This is EXACTLY how our “Intelligence” Agencies operate. There is no rule of law, no Constitution and the rules of engagement are at the whim and caprice of corpulent, bespeckled beadles and mediocrities like Alexander Vindman. You have no rights, no recourse, no redress.
This is tyranny and at this point, all Americans should know, anything, ANYTHING they do to resist, no matter what, is moral, ethical and yes, you are on the side of the angels. There is no action you are not allowed to take, no sins can be committed in the resistance to this tyranny.
Bio Weapons, Digital Currency, Vaccination passports, the actual end of the 1st and 2nd Amendments is evidence of the inexorable, undeniable total and complete control over our lives by these traitors and tyrants.
Nothing is off of the table for them and nothing is off of the table for you.God Bless.
Therefore encourage one another with these words. – 1 Thessalonians 4:18
Emotional regulation sounds clinical and mechanical, but it is a core ingredient in living a healthy life! Observe a baby, in the first twelve months they learn to manage anxious feelings with behavior like sucking their fingers or holding a special blanket. Given their overwhelming helplessness in the world, it is amazing they grab the reigns and self-soothe.
God knows what a distressful world His children inhabit.
Spiritually speaking, no person is a match for the forces of darkness they are up against. The devil is called the accuser, slanderer, deceiver, evil one, enemy, and murderer. Since believers in Jesus are satan’s prime targets, they need to know how to receive His peace!
The apostle Paul writes to the believers in Thessalonica about how to soothe the anxiety that comes from living in a hostile environment.
He concludes his admonition to live holy lives and support each other with instructions to all followers to firmly attach their hope to the promises of God yet to come. “The Lord will descend with a cry of command… then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, we will always be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
In the midst of today’s troubles, be soothed today by the knowledge that your security is found in the Lord, not in this world. Find comfort in the overcoming, victorious power of the resurrected and returning Christ. Rest secure in Him.
Pray that America will remain a safe place for believers in Christ to exercise their faith.

To Sundance and/or the Conservative Treehouse staff;
I am listening to a fantastic interview on Redacted with Clayton Morris that fits your narrative to a tee. I would love to have you listen to it and perhaps post this interview, it is quite revealing! I cannot recommend it enough. It is on you tube, “She’s exposing how the deep state mafia controls all of us” with Whitney Webb.
I do not know how to post something like this and think it needs to reach a large audience. At about the 40 minute mark it gets really good!
@Betsy Jones
I hope you had a wonderful Christmass and that all your family & circle of friends did as well. I went to visit a Bavarian village in the mtns of Georgia. The little hamlet is nestled in the foothills of the Chattahoochee Forest called Helen. One of the cleanest rivers I have ever seen runs through the town. Gorgeous, And if you like German cuisine, tops imo.
There were hundreds of Goldfinches flitting around the river, as well as large flocks of wintering Robins. Beautifully decorated for Christmass and the birth of Christ. Have you ever been there? Regards Bet and best to you & yours for New Year’s though I believe its going to get worse before it gets better. I hope I am wrong. God bless you & yours
Happy New Year’s Eve, Colkitto,
Pardon me for butting in on a post meant for Betsy jones …
Do they serve Bavarian-style Sauerbraten with dumplings drenched in gravy? And not those teensy little noodle-things that some people call dumplings, we’re talking big beautiful potato dumplings as large as your fist! 🙂
Your hundreds of Goldfinches and Robins in one place definitely sounds cheerful … and make cheerful sounds! As for recent birds in Ohio, there were three American Kestrels perching on the roadside wires in Amish Country a few days ago.
I think because of the high demand, they did not serve the real “Bread Dumplings” they had Potato Dumplings. At the one restaurant that was off Main St, I had the best Schnitzel I ever had. I got a sampler platter which had some Wurst, Beef Birds which were fantastic, Kassler Rippchen, Pork & Beef Bratens, spaetzle, red cabbage, Kraut, German Potato Salad. All quite good. They had Chateaubriand which I was tempted but is not really German so I passed on it. All quite good. I had an excellent Hungarian Goulash at another place for lunch that was fantastic.
I have a mail order place that I can get some of this now that I moved from where I could actually get it direct from where I used to live.
I have one lone Kestrel hanging around an area of farms and fields that I pass on my way to work. They are rare here and on a serious decline. One of my favorite raptors. I also think Shrikes are really cool also. In the southern part of my county which is more rural I know of a few spots where I can find them though a family of them were hanging around a park near me last year which means they did successfully nest in my area, though they are building like crazy which is concerning. I did have a lone Hermit Thrush in my yard yesterday.
Hope you had a merry Christmass.
Sounds like the Georgian restaurants you visited covered all the bases in terms of providing a hearty and delicious German and Hungarian winter feast, and a well worthy, memorable place to visit! 🙂 Am betting you listed all the foods not only to satisfy my curiosity and make me hungry, but also because it’s tough choosing a favorite … Or do you have a favorite?
Hope the Kestrels make a comeback in your neck of the woods! Have yet to see a Shrike and always wanted to see one. … The E-bird website lists when and where people are seeing them, so it’s a matter of picking a spot to travel to and hoping one is still there. A Hermit Thrush is also always a welcome sight!
Christmas was quiet this year, the Buffalo blizzard kept me from going to Buffalo to visit family. Maybe an Easter visit will be in order, and I’ve heard mention that scattered relatives may gather there in July. And that said, there were many Christmas blessings, something to be grateful for in every season … the main thing this year was that a young relative of mine in the children’s hospital with a life-threatening infection and fever was weak but recovering by Christmas Eve, am hoping to hear more good news on her soon.
Wonderful chatting with you! 🙂 I posted a message to you on another thread where you had posted a bird photo but our paths don’t always cross so am not sure you saw it.
Happy trails to you, in Georgia and elsewhere!
I’ve been trying to get him to visit more often, phoenix. He is a serious lover of nature. (Right, Colkitto?😉) And a fine “recommender” of movies as well.
Colkitto, did you eat Pinklewurst? I so long to find that, a pleasure from childhood 87 years ago!
Good afternooon, Colkitto!! What a wonderful happy photo. Much as those in Germany may still be, though so much has changed and especially this year. If this is “cultural appropriation” then I am all for it!!😁🌲
I hope that this past Christmas saw some semblance there still of what I am looking at here. Magical. I bet you were filled with the Christmas Spirit. I’m already counting down until next Christmas by the way…
Did you see Phoenix’s stunning photo she took of a female cardinal up top? I hope you did, because you of all people will appreciate what a beauty she is and the incredibly result which was gotten. Art, purely and simply.
We’ve thawed out but are expecting more in a couple of weeks. Just refilled the birdbath, and I am continuing to feed the voracious birds which have spotted our “All Are Welcome” sign which we’ve metaphorically put out for them. So far many, many dove and the Carolina wrens which sing their heads off…joyfully and beautifully I might add.
The other day we finally had a taker for the untouched suet cake which I put out weeks ago. A young (I’m sure) red crested woodpecker who made a beeline for it right in front of me. I stood still as he dined about 6 feet from me. What a thrill it was. It’s increasingly the littlest things which give me the most pleasure.
I don’t know if you have plans for New Year, but if you do, my friend, please be careful. We’ll pray for a better New Year; and if it is more of this same, pray for the strength to endure and find a way out of it. Thank goodness for this refuge site! Surrounded by friends, new and old. A place of camaraderie and good conversation to keep us all somewhat sane😉
Blessings always, dear friend. Keep warm, stay safe, and be well…with affection😘
Ty for your wonderful post. I am on the run so pardon my short response. Best to you and yours and all the Treepers. Slainte my friend
Brace yourselves! It appears another blast of polar air is coming for us the 2nd week of January. As Joe hinted at before it looks like the pressure patterns are wheeling around so that that blocking high pressure will once again push the Polar Jet stream down into the US.
Will expand on this after Joe Bastardi’s Saturday Summary comes out.
Winter it is. Hope he mentions Texas, which is still making excuses for their on the edge of the seat approach.
Now, Atmos gas (our supplier) seems to have let the side down dreadfully in parts of this state. Manly action man Abbott has asked our AG Ken Paxton to quickly see what’s up.
I guess Abbott doesn’t have an office or a phone to make the call himself. Best to hand it off to someone competent. And he essentially told Paxton to hurry it up as well, as we seem to be in the crosshairs for more of the same….ugh…and brrrrr.
I was wrong, at least for the time being. Don’t button up yet. We are in for cold, but in January it is going to be more a standard winter cold and not a polar blast it appears. The thing is, it’s looking like we’re in for a generally colder and snowier winter than we have experienced for some time now.
We are not out of the woods from another polar blast. Just doesn’t look like it will hit in January.
In other weather news, the drought busting reservoir filling “atmospheric river” forecast for the left coast was spot on. San Francisco is most likely going to set a new 24 hour rainfall record today. Ski resorts inland have closed down lifts due to too much snow coming too fast. And the cries of flooding are being issued forth loud and clear by the press.
Over in Europe the west is warmer than average but the polar air is hovering over Moscow.
Some ski resorts at lower elevations have lost snow due to rains but those at higher elevations still have great snow.
Okay so… prayers needed for my MIL… she admitted and is not a candidate for surgery… they are looking for a hospice bed. This just happened this morning. Perforated bowel surgical intervention is not an option.
Praying that the Lord will richly bless your MIL and provide everything she needs for her good health and healing during this Christmas season and into the New Year. May she be restored and made whole. Asking in Jesus’ name. Amen
Amen.
Ty Casco.
Ty Phoenix and Treepers for the prayers… please hold her in prayer for a peaceful transition as she prepares to go to the Lord.
Prayer up now 🙏🏻🙏🏻 for your precious MIL and everyone in her sphere.
I’m sorry about this.
Ty Miss Della.
I’ll pray that she is in the hands of compassionate people, and that they will make sure she is comfortable and not in pain. I am so dreadfully sorry, for her and for the worry you all are going through. May His angels surround her.🙏
Ty Ms. Betsy
Today may be the rainiest day in San Francisco history.
Already surpassed 2nd place at 1 PM local.
Well, I reckon I was wrong about a blocking pattern, at least for now. Joe is not describing it that way at all. Winter is returning and it is going to get good and cold again and is likely to remain so for the duration of the winter, but it is not from the polar vortex. And BTW it is looking like it is going to be a very snowy winter.
Happy New Year, Sundance & everyone! 🙂 This is interesting; listen to this short clip . . . .
“Oklahoma applies to be a Sovereign state” –
I hope other states endeavor to do the same thing!!!
Amen…

Amen and happy New Year to all Treepers with love and appreciation for your company
Amen.

My natural gas bill for the period of November 26th to December 26th was $132.00. Not bad at all considering that includes the period of the coldest temps and highest winds of this last polar blast. My 3 bedroom, two bath house is exposed to the west with a farm field about a mile wide in that direction so we are pretty exposed to the wind.
I would say my new fireplace insert is doing a great job of lowering my gas consumption considering that the price of NG has already jumped considerably.
AND guessing the view of the fire is an exquisite delight.
Fireplace inserts are a huge blessing. If I won the lottery there are several family houses and relatives that would be toasting in front of fireplace inserts installed by reliable experts, with nice woodpiles near the houses
