Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Looks like quite a cat-astro-tree!
(Okay, so I’m not above inventing new words to make bad puns from …)
Mornamental
Good mourning … for Christmas passed!
an epiphany
“Was I not supposed to play with all those shiny round balls?”
Reminds me of a cat we had.
While my daughter was visiting my brother with mom, my sister and the grandkids, a cat took up with my daughter always wanting to sit on her lap.
He was a barn cat, had lost all his family and was harassed by another family of barn cats.
Returning home my brother called to warn me that she was bringing home a cat.
He loved Christmas trees and those shiny ornaments!
One time, I wondered why my fig tree was dying . I lifted up the tree by the tree trunk which was in a plastic container of dirt. It was dripping! On the bottom of the decorative brass container it was in, had a pool of urine on the bottom. I couldn’t get angry with him. He thought it was alright to to wee-wee in the dirt. He was a barn cat!
He was a special cat. Gentle soul who loved my daughter. He would swat our other cat who had a mean streak, if he even thought of being mean to our daughter. He kneaded my daughter, purr and would say what sounded like “Ma-Ma”
There are cats…then are cats who consider themselves human, and we come to think of them as human…said the adopted mum of many, many barn cats when we lived in rural Wales. For us this was true.
Fortunately, we lived out in the country and had installed a cat flap, which our Jack Russell used as well. (A discreetly placed litter box was infrequently used for those times when it was too cold.)
And why not?? I think as she was surrounded by cats, she may have thought she was one as well.
What a sweet story, Donna, and what a sweet lad.😌
Hello Fellow Treepers!
Here’s an Orange December Sunrise out my window in Northeast Ohio from earlier this month. There is still warmth and color in the winter for you to enjoy! Wishing everyone here a wonderful day!
Good morning Phoenix. Beautiful picture.
I also think it’s beautiful that you are always on the prayer link, and for your prayer I thank you.
Grace to you and yours. 🙌✝️🙌
Good morning Frank Field,
Thank you very much for your kind encouragement. Wishing you many blessings today, all through the Christmas Season, and into the New Year! 🙂 Praying for you and for all Treepers.
Bless you, phoenix. Thank you for the many beautiful pictures. Living close to you in Pa I get to see some of the beauty that you do. I live up the mountain in the woods and love seeing the sun coming up in the morning and peeking thru the trees. Sorry I do not have your talent taking pictures that I could share with our wonderful Treepers.
Good morning marti!
Thanks for your kind words. You’re greatly blessed to live in Penn’s Woods, with all its spectacular scenery and wildlife! 🙂
Good morning, phoenix.
Feral cat fed, cup of tea in hand, my symphony channel on…and what should be playing but Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony. Is there a more appropriate work to listen to while I linger over this beautiful photo? No, there is not! The coupling inspires gratitude for another day. Simply perfect.
Good morning and thank you, Betsy jones … Sounds like you’re in for a harmoniously cozy winter’s day! 🙂
One never knows what a day will hold, but when I start it here as described, I’m better prepared to deal with what comes.😉💕
Morning Ya’ll 🙂
The light almost reminds me of orange sherbet and looks good enough to eat!
Good morning, Mr jay. No prettier time of day. Morning mists. Lovely.
Maidin Mhaith Betsy, our cold front has moved out and back to the rain 🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸
Thank goodness! It has been so brutal. Here, the sun is out… the start temp was below freezing. Will be almost balmy by the end of the week. Such is Texas weather…
Good morning Bet!
I’ve missed you, G.
I hope you were able to salvage your birthday after the water debacle sleepover night. And I hope your Christmas was spent in peace and joy. I bet the Christmas fayre was delicious.
Thought of you all day on your birthday and sent all my good wishes telepathically. Please allow me to belatedly wish for you many more to come, my beloved brother (in Welsh, of course😉)
Penblwydd Hapus i ti!!!🎂💕
Thank you dear sister! Birthday was great, followed by AC even greater Christmas Eve service.
Christmas Day was spent doing plumbing and by afternoon we had water. PTL!
Yesterday I described it here as having a cracked pipe. 😂 Didn’t proof read before posting.
😂😂😂…yeah, the number of times I’ve re-read what I’ve written after I posted and thought “Yikes”…hurriedly edited. Sometimes made it worse.
Luckily we know you😉😘
Mornin’ jay 🙂 Loved “Moonglow”. Thanks for posting.

Abraham believed and expressed to his servants that the boy was coming back with him.
Genesis 22:5 “Then Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey, and I and the boy will go over there; and we will worship and return to you.”
Abraham was also standing in the strength of his previous revelation from God that his descendants would be numerous as the sands of the sea and the stars of the heavens.
Our watches tell us it is one time, God’s say it’s another. His timepiece is never wrong.
Thankful for blessings received and those to come🙏
Something many may not be aware of – It was not just a test of faith of Abraham – Isaac too, when he realized what was to occur was himself surrendered to the instruction of God. He made no struggle, no cry for help, no “what are you doing” – it was this assurance that the faith and belief in the Creator held by Abraham lived on in the heart/soul of Isaac. God now knew that the holy “line” was secure.
Something that I’ve thought about often, Oldspeak. Their trust and faith were unshakeable.
Hello Oldspeak. What you bring up reminds me of a few places in Scripture, where the Lord shows to His servants long in advance, what He plans to do with them.
Psalms 105:19 “Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.” The Lord showed Joseph things through dreams and revelation. He tried to talk to his brothers and his father about it; but they were far,far away from hearing the Spirit of God, and were offended and filled with envy. His father Jacob also was not really ready for the Word like that, and rebuked his son; even though he kept them in his heart. But to Joseph, God revealed much more than is written: for it says, that until the time came for it to come to pass, the Word tried him; and his soul came into iron.
In Stephen’s testimony, he spoke Moses also having this foreknowledge from God about what he was going to do; but was not believed or received. Acts 7:25 “For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.” Moses also had to learn by waiting on God, and wait he did! 40 years in the desert, in obscurity; until the Spirit had prepared him, and he was the meekest man living on earth; then the Lord appeared to him in the bush, and gave him his commission.
What things were done in the Scriptures in old time, were written for us; in whom God intends to do the same: that they, without us, cannot be complete.
Siccas Guitars is a shop in Germany that specializes in selling first-class concert guitars. As a result, it regularly attracts the attention and patronage of world renowned classical guitarists. Here is a selection of Siccas clients—virtuosos all—playing the music of Scarlatti on a collection of wonderful concert guitars. If you’re interested, the video on Youtube lists both the performer and the guitar being played for each selection. This is wonderful guitar music—but to play Scarlatti you have to be good at making those 5 fret stretches! Enjoy . . .
Good morning, Garrison. Oh how I love Scarlatti. Light and flowing. The guitar is well suited for his works I’ve always thought. How beautiful were these performances. I’ve listened to the first three and will save the others for later.
But the first two! The finger work! Especially the second. Flawless…after that I am at a loss for words.
Afternoon, Bet. Just got back from a loooong “breakfast” with an old friend that immediately turned into 4 hr conversation. Fortunately, it was the kind of restaurant that doesn’t mind people doing that. Hadn’t seen her in a log time so we had a lot of catchin’ up to do.
Re: Scarlatti. I listened to all the performance in rotation. Siccas is always careful to mention the name of the guitar being played. Each luthier’s instrument will be different in ways both large and small. The comparisons are always instructive because they rather quickly tell us why the “great’ guitar have that kind of reputation. There really is a difference. 🙂
Oh I have no doubt there are differences. In feel and sound I’m sure. Which is true for artists on many other instruments…violin, piano being only two. I enjoyed these tremendously.
Only in Texas and perhaps other southern states do you find an indifference about long staying customers. This sort of unhurried attitude on the part of bistro or cafe owners is the norm in Wales as well.
In fact we found owners of these type of establishments so unbothered by those who sit and chat after a cup of coffee or a meal that they often join in the conversations. Delightful. So glad you enjoyed your beautiful morning with an old friend. The best type of morning there is.😊
Scarlatti is pretty nice when it comes to background music, and perfect for an evening with wine and cheese. 🙂
I watched Vladimir Horowitz late in his life return to his Mother Russia after decades of living elsewhere, including America.
The Soviets were still in control but allowed him to return. A shockingly humanitarian thing to do for them; but he was near the end of his life, and I suppose there was one within their political hierarchy who realized Horowitz’s artistic genius and found a scintilla of humanity.
At any rate, he performed when he returned. There was no advertising for it, no play bills posted. Word of mouth that he would perform spread like wildfire, and the venue was filled to capacity…with elites in their finery in the front row seats and ordinary Russians in their ordinary clothes in the balconies.
It was a very moving concert. The cameras scanned the audience. There were eye closed and tears flowing from some, knowing what they were hearing from one of the greatest pianists of their generation at Tue end of his life, returned to his beloved homeland from which he had been banished for so long. A chance of a lifetime to hear him play.
One of the pieces he played was a gentle Scarlatti Sonata in E major among other lovely works.
If anyone in our Tree would like to see this remarkable video of the performance, along with a small amount of commentary at the beginning, I leave the link.
It is beautiful and moving…

Wow, singer (Beryl) “Jack” Sheldon of “Conjunction Junction / Schoolhouse Rock” fame died on this date? Now this is a seriously sad day. 🙁 (Okay, so I’m a language geek from way back.)
More talented than I ever knew. I only knew him as the Schoolhouse Rock voice, never watched Merv.
The documentary was very informative.

I don’t know much about Turkey or their politics.
However I recently read an article about Erdogan jailing a political opponent, the mayor of Istanbul, who could replace Erdogan, if elections were fair.
Anybody who knows anything about Turkey, please inform us? It is difficult to believe anything we read or hear, but sometimes multiple sources can be educational
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna61709
I haven’t seen this story. But what I do know is that Erdogan is capable of anything and everything. Turkey’s membership in NATO, which I’ve always found bothering makes him, because of that country’s geographical position, makes him a power player…which is disconcerting. But then I’m disconcerted by NATO, full stop.
Before the midterms here, Baron Bodissey on Gates of Vienna posted a disturbing article about the strong allegiance Oz has with Erdogan. Of course GoV is not widely read, but I suggest you bookmark this outstanding site, wherein you will become more informed about the goings on in Europe. Situations that will not be reported here. I visit it every day.
I suspect the Baron will address this at some point.

I posted on another thread before Christmas about Texas on its hands and knees pleading “pretty pleeeeease” to Granholm to let us off the hook for this deadly cold and let us use the dirty dirty dirty “fossil” fuels this state has more than ample supplies of.
Texian replied. Since when did Texas have to get permission to use our own resources, he asked. He was infuriated. I was infuriated. Special dispensation indeed!
Abbott better get a grip, he who has a page on the WEF website. How many desperate winter situations does it take for green cultist morons to understand wind power will never ever be a reliable source? Too windy, not windy enough, no wind…

PSALM 81:
8 “Hear, My people, and I will admonish you;
Israel, if you would listen to Me!
9 There shall be no strange god among you;
Nor shall you worship a foreign god.
10 I, the Lord, am your God,
Who brought you up from the land of Egypt;
Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.
11 But My people did not listen to My voice,
And Israel did not obey Me.
12 So I gave them over to the stubbornness of their heart,
To walk by their own plans.
13 Oh that My people would listen to Me,
That Israel would walk in My ways!
14 I would quickly subdue their enemies
And turn My hand against their adversaries.
15 Those who hate the Lord would pretend to obey Him,
And their time of punishment would be forever.
16 But I would feed you with the finest of the wheat,
And with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”
I found a bunch of old pics from when I was in the Army. One shows me receiving a certificate of learning from a female officer of the National Institute of Health at what was then the last Leprosarium in the Continental US.
The NIH uses the ranks and uniforms of the Navy. They did research on Hanson’s Disease (Leprosy) at Carville, LA. A place on a meander of the Mississippi river, south of Baton Rouge. They used Armadillos for their research because those animals are a natural reservoir for the disease.
The Leprosarium did have inmates/patients. But they were all their voluntarily. Some because they were so disfigured, some because they had spent so much of their lives in such institutions they did not want to leave. And some because they were there temporarily for treatment. The treatment of the disease takes time and for a time turns the skin purple.
We would jump in and run SF medic trainees through the last of three trauma clinics they went through during the 27 week course. The trainees would also attend the training on Hanson’s disease given there since that disease is still found in many less developed nations where SF troops can be sent.
The Carville Leprosarium is closed down now. It’s grounds and buildings taken over by a nearby prison. That left only one US Leprosarium which was located in Hawaii which would be closed once the last of the very few living there died.
Leprosy got the name “Hanson’s Disease” A Norwegian doctor named Gerhard Hansen discovered Mycobacterium leprae, a large Gram positive (meaning it stains purple) rod which is one of two bacteria which cause the disease. The hypotheses at the time was that Leprosy was congenital. Studies by Hansen disproved this.
One reason that Hanson was able to isolate that bacteria with the primitive equipment of the time (1870s) was because it is relatively huge. It also is a very robust bacteria capable of encapsulating to live decades in the soil without a host.
These days many of us are immune, perhaps having inherited a resistance that started long ago when the disease ravaged large numbers of people. Or perhaps the Leprosy of todays is not exactly the same of Biblical times because the causative bacteria have evolved. It is a question still be argued, or at least was when I got my instruction on the disease and its treatment.
But it is still a real problem in some less developed nations with periodic outbreaks. Here are the incidence levels by country in mpa form per WHO in 2018.
leprosy-number-of-new-cases-detected-during-2018.pdf (who.int)
Interesting rah. We’ve had lots of armadillo damage in our area in east TX this year. 🤟
I think that was the disease that thalidomide was initially found to be effective in treating.
Interesting map, Brazil, India, the Indonesian circuit of islands being the highest outbreak areas. Tropical in nature.
Carville Leprosarium, I wonder if it’s related to James Carville?
Romans 6 speaks of it:
“Slaves to righteousness”
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%206&version=NASB
Yes, Thank You! This is the Doctrine of repentance for the remission of sins, and regeneration. Paul was given very great wisdom and understanding, and the gift of teaching. But it seems as though, along with having gone away from the Lord’s first Directions for the Assemblies; (where everyone was a participant, with their own unique gift of the Spirit to contribute to everyone’s edifying); and have turned it rather into a place to go and listen from the audience to [whatever] the Pastor makes for his service; that there has come with it, the vision departed from the people.
Isaiah 8:20 says, that If they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light, no springing of the dawn, no urgency as to be up early to the task, in them. And it speaks of the time when the conspiracy is strong to unite under an alliance with the Antichrist; but the people do not see their signs, or know the Lord’s witnesses.
So you have it like we see today: what is plainly the Apostles’ Doctrine and the true foundation of Christ; has become strange things in their ears; and nothing that fits what they hear in their Bible Colleges and church.

Where the Battle is Won or Lost
“If you will return, O Israel,” says the Lord… —Jeremiah 4:1
Our battles are first won or lost in the secret places of our will in God’s presence, never in full view of the world. The Spirit of God seizes me and I am compelled to get alone with God and fight the battle before Him. Until I do this, I will lose every time. The battle may take one minute or one year, but that will depend on me, not God. However long it takes, I must wrestle with it alone before God, and I must resolve to go through the hell of renunciation or rejection before Him. Nothing has any power over someone who has fought the battle before God and won there.
I should never say, “I will wait until I get into difficult circumstances and then I’ll put God to the test.” Trying to do that will not work. I must first get the issue settled between God and myself in the secret places of my soul, where no one else can interfere. Then I can go ahead, knowing with certainty that the battle is won. Lose it there, and calamity, disaster, and defeat before the world are as sure as the laws of God. The reason the battle is lost is that I fight it first in the external world. Get alone with God, do battle before Him, and settle the matter once and for all.
In dealing with other people, our stance should always be to drive them toward making a decision of their will. That is how surrendering to God begins. Not often, but every once in a while, God brings us to a major turning point— a great crossroads in our life. From that point we either go toward a more and more slow, lazy, and useless Christian life, or we become more and more on fire, giving our utmost for His highest— our best for His glory.
WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS
We never enter into the Kingdom of God by having our head questions answered, but only by commitment.

Music is such an integral part of my life, I can’t imagine the world without it. This from the late Professor Sir Roger Scruton…
“Art and music shine a light of meaning on ordinary life, and through them we are able to confront the things that trouble us and to find consolation and peace in their presence.”
Yes, yes, YES!
(I discovered this from Sir Roger yesterday and kept a picture of it, knowing with certainty that the time would come when context for it would arrive and allow me to share it. And here you are, WP…unexpectedly providing it. Thank you.)

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

JESUS LOVES THE LITTLE CHILDREN
Verse of the Day for Tuesday, December 27, 2022
✟
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”
1 John 4:18 (KJV)
Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered!!!
Amen, Amen.
The Lord is the true God; he is the living God and the everlasting King. At his wrath, the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his indignation. – Jeremiah 10:10
Christmas celebrations are over for most of us. The carefully chosen and wrapped gifts are now known, some appreciated and some maybe not. Some might be on their way to being exchanged or refunded. The tree will be taken down soon. And you may wonder if the time and attention given to the holidays, and through all the traditions, truly honored God and celebrated Christ’s birth.
In chapter ten of Jeremiah, the prophet praised God as true, living, and everlasting, and spoke harshly about idols. He also described God’s power as an earthquake that nations cannot endure when He directs His wrath toward them. In a passage preceding today’s verse, Jeremiah warns against establishing one’s own righteousness, a form of idolatry, in ignorance of the righteousness of God (v. 3).
Everything should be done for God’s glory (1 Corinthians 10:31).
With Christmas behind and New Year’s resolutions and goal-setting on many minds, put away the idols, which can be anything that takes priority over the Lord in time, cost, and affection. Think about these words “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might” (Deuteronomy 6:4-5).
As you think about your ambitions for 2023, ask the Lord to direct you in ways you can act on your love for Him and others. Pray for the betterment of the nation, its citizens, and those in authority. Ask God to move in hearts and minds in such a way that love for Him will increase and that He will be honored and praised in this nation every day of the year.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

Just has my septic tank pumped. 1,000 Gallons – $300.00. It is easy for them because I have a riser on the tank and they can just back down the driveway and run out 50′ of hose across my back deck to get to it.
Uh oh!
Joe Bastardi tells Gov. Abbot: “I was trying to warn them about this again. Was texting people down there December 11 and then every other day. We have a big company in Texas so we forecast the weather for them. A word to governor abbott beware mid /Late January”
Shoot…. And Abbott said,.”La La La, can’t hear you.”
Anyway, it is looking like we aren’t nearly out of the woods yet this winter. Bastardi said way back in August that it looked like we would be having a winter much different from the last few years. I would reckon that the people of Buffalo with second that!
I head out tomorrow at 07:15 for Grand Rapids, MI. A simple out and back delivering dunnage and picking up parts at Pridgion & Clay. It is looking like it may be the only run I will do this week as we are in the typical slow down that comes this time of year. I could possibly be the last run I do for two weeks even.
Be safe, rah. Two weeks rest wouldn’t be a bad idea.
…and to be honest, I’m thinking we’re in for a few years of winters like this. Grand Solar Minimum

A history of cold in Texas:
During this cold snap with snow on the ground the birds have been going through 8 lbs of premium bird seed and one large seed block a day. I am hoping it really has helped take the strain off them. However I noticed a dead male Downy woodpecker. No outward signs of disease or trauma. I guess it was his time.
We’re feeding more heavily as well. I put out a suet block about six weeks ago, thinking it would have a
bevy of takers…so far not a nibble. This cold (for us in Texas) has been so brutal. I worry for the birds and all other creatures.
And more particularly, for those people who have no homes. Abbott better get his act together.
Amen.
Amen.
Amen.
Amen…
Amen.
