Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

PBJ, the black and white outside cat that thinks she is ours but isn’t came over yesterday twice to be fed. Usually once in the morning is enough and then she hits the food Steve puts out for his cats in the evening. She really is a loving little kitty. If we already didn’t have one and I did not know that she supposedly belongs to some people down the street, I would take her in and take her to the vet to make sure she is healthy. She is so skinny that I suspect she needs wormed. She really does want to come into our house.
Cave, rah…you know you want to, and I suspect you will in the end….says the woman who would have caved long before now.
I just went out and fed her. The decision is not just mine. Sherry is not agreeable and Gabby the cat is absolutely against the idea. Sherry may come around. Obviously someone takes care of the cat during the winter because she does not come around our house then and survives.
Oh good. I am glad you fed her. I should say, if you are destined to take her in, it will happen. Another cat in the house is the deciding factor I know, especially if there is apparent animus.
Here’s a middle-ground suggestion, Rah. Talk to your down-the-street neighbors just to let them know that the kitty is a regular, most welcome, visitor. Make sure you’re not complaining but, rather, just letting them know that where their kitty goes is safe and welcome. Once you do that you and they will have opened a door that wasn’t there before.
💖💖💖
A good suggestion but I suspect that PB&J belongs to the worst of those we have in this area. I won’t get into specifics but after living here for 21 years one can learn much without actually meeting the people. My only indication of that is the fact that she obviously is not a well taken care of if she belonged to anyone else around here. I suspect that if she belonged to anyone else around here she would be better cared for.
I was kinda afraid of that. Poor kitty.
If the Kitty’s head was a clock … I think I see another cat’s head at 2 o’clock?
Late night.. huh? 🍺
I’m self employed and live alone so keeping night time hours suits me. I’m a night time, stormy weather, windy days, winter loving type. When I lived by the ocean I made a habit of going to the beach at night during storms. Love the big surf!
That ocean line is interesting, Boogy. It spooks me. But I admit that I can’t resist traumatizing myself by strolling it during those times. Something about the fury of the water that draws me to it
Good Morning Levi 🙋♀️
I know what you mean… I’m drawn too to the surf…when it’s like that, it’s the greatest thrill to surfers!! 😎
Have a great day Levi!!! ❤️
So true, FC. When the red flag comes out, so too do the surfers. Bizarre. That’s where I draw the line. My feet are then firmly on terracotta. Had I grown up with the ocean, it may have been different. I’ve never surfed nor attempted.
Got a guy nearby, a little older than I, in a condo who traverses the beachfront on an electric skateboard. That’s a sight. Haven’t asked for a trial run yet but I’d be willing.
Cheers, Cat!
Morning, Levi💓 It was hard enough for me to get up when I waterskied for the first time, and I was young and fit. I remember being shocked at the leg power needed just to pop out of the water. Surfing is another thing entirely, I should imagine..
Morning Betsy. Sounds like we are cut from the same cloth in that department. I tried it once. Broke the tow rope trying to get up. Never did. Never tried again.
Have a blessed day. Just playing in the waves is fun enough. Cheers!
Yes…it took me by complete surprise, I can tell you. Everybody I watched doing it made it look so easy.
Morning, Cat💓 A whole other world under those waves. We can only imagine.
Morning Betsy ❤️
Climb aboard my board, I’ll take you for a ride!! 😂
Does it have seat belts?
Good morning Bet and Cat, and Levi! Three of my favorite people talking about one of my fav subjects-sharks.
Morning again, G. And I bet by extension they might just be a flea purity of Nipper’s. When I was young, I remember being fascinated and repelled at the same time with hammerhead sharks. To tell the truth, I still am.
Oh good grief!!!!!!!! FAVOURITE!! Not flea purity…😡
😂 glad you cleared it up, what you meant. Thought perhaps it was a welsh thing Lol 😂
Love ya lbt 😘
No😂… not Welsh. Just old ignorant autocorrect doing what it does.

Patience… you too???? 😂
At least you captured my good side 😂
😹
Hahahaha!!!!! So good! I’ve even seen a video memoir of a chap who was doing a motorbike trip all over Europe. A little kitty soul adopted him😉…and rode the rest of the trip with him💖 Thankfully, and needless to say, the little ball of fluff accompanied him back home when he was through.
Fisherman land baby sharks frequently enough to tell me I’m not venturing very far out any longer.
In the past week or so there have been stories of two ladies who went to Sharm el Sheikh for a holiday who were swimming close to shore but not close enough.
And it’s a no thank you from me as well.
I read about them. Egads!
Early 200os we were vacationing in Florida. Took the kids to Daytona for a day. A few years prior, on a business trip, we would get back and tread water and chat as it was summer bath water.
The hotel was right next to the pier.
With the kids in tow I took them to the pier for lunch. While we were seated a waiter came over to tell me there was a shark approaching the pier and to rustle up the kids for a look down at it.
By the time I got them over there he had to hustle us back to the other side as it was swimming underneath.
Out it came from under the pier. And where did it go? Directly in line with where we’d been several years before. That was my wake-up moment. It’s their home not mine.
For those who will accept the long odds, more power to them. It’s just not how I want to go, long odds or not.
Quick they are in their environment when we are not when we are in theirs. And so agile, that’s for certain. I shudder to think.
Except for 3 years as an adolescent, I spent my first 24 years living no further than 6 or 7 miles from the ocean. Robert Moses State Park on Fire Island was a quick 20 minute drive and during the mid 70s they’d still allow you to walk the beaches to late at night.
If you want an all encompassing, all natural sensory thrill, spend a windy warm summer night on an ocean beach with a gale offshore and especially with the surf lit up internally by bioluminescence. Swirling clouds overhead with the moon and stars peeking out behind roiling clouds and thunderous breakers where the water, itself, is luminous … it actually glows in the dark!!!
I never dated anyone who thought this was an interesting idea.
“My father says almost the entire world is asleep.
Everybody you know,
Everybody you see.
Everybody you talk to.
He says only a few people are awake
AND they live in a state of total constant amazement.” “Joe vs the Volcano”
Cool stuff. I can only imagine. Does it ever get old? Hoping it doesn’t.
It never did. The “bioluminescence is a rare event. Sharing it with other people would always be special.
Poetry…
I’ve been there once. On a deserted beach in Mexico. Not a soul but me, the sea, and a darkening, angry sky. It was very sobering. I never felt so small in my life, and I’ll never forget it.
And I understand completely the attraction for you.
Good morning, Boogystew.
Night-owling… living freely by your own ⏰ “through all kinds of weather, through everything we done-Joplin) -is awesome.
I was however referring to the kitty napping in its food bowel. 😂
Morning, Patience💓 He sounds a bit like our friend of the oilfield memoirs, Texian, who lived a similar life and loved it.
Hi there, Betsy !
Yes..,, interesting; to say the least.
-🫖
Still loving the teapot😍
Good Morning patience ❤️
I can relate to that kitty up there, happens to me when I get too near the catnip plant 😂 feral tries to admire from afar now 😉
Lol … and naturally feral stays away from the thorny roses.
A – really good morning to you, Cat!
🐶
Been told many a time that me n time, well, … I live by my own clock. That’s come in handy for a good hand-full of recent years; as assistance is required at all hours and at any minute by some loved ones.
Must be payment for so many glorious years of true time-less freedom. Oh, I do sometimes miss being creatively idle. (Memories, like the corner….) 🫠
-Gratefully these years the good Lord has kept me timely… and pray His blessings continue.
Hmm, I see an extra “e” in Patience.
– how curious
Patience, It’s been my experience, you bounce back. Hang in there. I’m rooting for you!!!!😉
Bowel ?????
Oh, my….. Freudian 🤯 🥴
Need some more java: or something. Now, now… Be nice.
I caught that😂😂😂…and I knew you would eventually. I’ve done it way too many times. My first cup is brewing so I’d better go back and what errors I’ve made😉
Annnnnd and YES!! I just found an own goal which I included in a message to GrandpaM.
What? A new hobby, bopping sharks with your tomahawk?
As if I’d ever get that close.
Morning Patience. I admit to chuckling. Have a great day. Live, Love, Laugh!
Good morning, Levi.
Laughter is good…. and necessary.
~Having a bm?
Good and Necessary too.
Cheers!
Freudian Slip: When you say one thing but mean your mother.
😁
What
… mean mother ?!??
😂🤣
“D’oh!”
There is another site where a commenter puts pictures up of various places and says “there’s no cat in this picture.”
On first glance, one would agree with that. But there is always is a cat in every one. Hiding in “plain sight”.
It’s hard, and fun, to try to see where each one is.
So, Boogywstew… I spy with my little eye the one you’ve seen. I think you are right.😉
A devotion for today
For Shinzo.
Sukiyaki
For over a day I planned on posting that video in honor of Shinzo Abe!!! I should go crazy on you, but I will forgive you because you are a girl after my own heart.
Shinzo Abe would have been 7 years old when this song was released to wide acclaim in Japan. Undoubtedly, Abe would also have been very aware when almost 2 years later, “Sukiyaki”, became the 1st Japanese single, and still only one, to hit #1 in the US.
I am certain sure he would be greatly honored to have this song … this version … played in his honor.
Kyu Sakamoto died in the deadliest SINGLE airplane accident in history. I will provide a link to Sakamoto’s bio and another link to this particular airliner crash. The Japanese aircrew heroically fought for 32 minutes to control the mortally wounded 747 with 524 souls aboard. 4 people survived.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyu_Sakamoto

Thanks for these, Boogywstew. A terrible loss. Terrible.
“ I should go crazy on you, but I will forgive you “
if you did that, i would have to come straight on for you..
yes?
His death and the manner of it has really rocked me, Maquis. It’s good that you posted this.
Perfect for my night cap wind down, Knob Creek Rye tonight. 🙂
Agreed. Ezra Brooks, neat . . . good sippin’ whisky for tonight . . . Be well . . 🙂
Good morning Garrison and jay! ❤️
Hi, Cat. Got up a bit late this morning. 8 hrs sleep feels pretty good on these old bones. . . 🙂
Happy Caterday Treepers . . .
Good morning, Garrison💖 Mission impossible. I’ve done it so many times. Bless her heart, meant in the nicest way.
Hi, Bet. She undoubtedly has an interesting back story about her rescue adventures. 🙂
It’s a passion I think. I’ve known of so many like her in the UK. Rescuers of all sorts of animals, and these people have a mission, are so driven and giving of their time and money, of which most have very little. Appointed and blessed by St Francis I am certain.🙏
Morning Ya’ll 🙂
Good Morning jay. ❤️
Another beautiful start to caturday!!!!! Awesome!!!
Thank you 💋
Almost forgot…I used to imagine sweet pea and Sheila playing together 😊
🎶
Happy caturday everybody!!!! ❤️
Sweet Pea is taking a nap after her breakfast. 😻
Good morning Cat! ❤️
He grandpa 🙋♀️ 💜
Good morning, G!🤗
Good morning again Bet! ❤️
One can never have too many “good mornings” I think😘
Good morning Jay. Home run. Grand slam. Love em all. Thanks for the oxygen infusion. Have a great day. Cheers!
🙂 🙂
Jay!!! They’re exquisite and this bunch will last forever!! ❤️
You really have a very nice garden, as evidenced by your photos 💋
A wonderful selection, Mr jay. Blessed morning to you.🤗
Oh how lovely! You really are the best, jay…a chivalrous gentleman.
I suspect that Elon will not be allowed by the courts to withdraw from the Twitter deal and it going to get a royal screwing.
I think there is method in his “madness”, rah. Most expect Twitter shares to collapse on Monday. And some have suggested that if this goes to court and the court forces him to complete the deal, Twitter employees will be getting a boss they hate and will start wrecking everything. I’m no techy, so I will leave that to others to think about.
I suspect Elon has gamed this out, no dummy he.
He is no dummy, but I’m not sure he anticipated the problems that almost all of tech are starting to have with capital and liquidity as they are now in the current economic environment that is only going to get worse.
That is why Twitter is now actually desperate for him to take over and after first fighting the take over will now fight to make Musk either go through with the deal or pay the 1 billion dollar fine for backing out.
With the courts being dominated by leftist judges, I am thinking he may get screwed.
But I am hoping he will not. He’s already made employee cuts with Tesla. He didn’t get where he is now waiting for the hammer to fall. Shrewd, foresighted, peering around corners others can’t see. We shall certainly find out.
His case remains that he can’t figure out what he’s buying, i.e., fake accounts and bots. If it goes to court would the court force transparency on the part of Twitter–that’s above my pay grade. Maybe there’s a M&A lurker here who can answer
Yes, Joe..a veritable spider’s web it is. My inadequate understanding was that he made it clear Twitter would have to spring clean those bots and fake accounts, and have been ding so. Millions of them apparently.
Sundance had a thread on this yesterday. Perhaps you can get more info by visiting the comments. Because one thing I’ve learned, the wealth and deep knowledge of those commenting absolutely is mind blowing.
Even with inflation when we combine my pay and my wife’s SS payment we are plopping over $1,000 a month into savings. The way things are going, if our health holds out, we may be able to knock one or two of the most expensive items on our bucket list out.
However, there are three items on my own bucket list which I will never get done.
But I’m not complaining. I have seen a lot more of this world than most people have seen.
My dad climbed Mount McKinley during one of his long summer vacations on the police department. My step mom and he hired a bush pilot to land them on a glacier and after their ascent, picked them back up. They didn’t have the time to do it as you describe. My dad had given up smoking when he turned 30 and he was in his early 40s during the ascent. He had a terrible time with altitude sickness and my step mom who was STILL a smoker, cruised right up Denali.
Yea, I’ll be 67 next month. I have Berg Heiled higher peeks but that was in my younger days.
My father retired after 20 years on the police department and took his monstrous pension to Wyoming. He learned to ride a horse well enough for ranchers to hire him for round ups. He also worked part time as a drummer in various country-rock bands. Lander, Wyoming was his base for technical climbing in the Wind Rivers, Pacific Coast Range, Cascades, Canadian Rockies, Alaska Range, St.Elias Mountains, Tetons etc. He’d still return East for technical rock and ice climbing in the Gunks and Presidential Range. He was still climbing frozen waterfalls in his 70s.
He was quite the character.
It could I guess, but that was not the intent. Back Packing the length of the Canyon was a dream I developed when I was a kid from a book by an English expatriate and author, Collin Fletcher after reading his many times updated book, The New Complete Walker: The Joys and Techniques of Hiking and Backpacking: Fletcher, Colin: 9780394480992: Amazon.com: Books
Even at the young age of 17, I found Collin to be a man of my own heart. He was a British commando during WW II.
Some of my greatest memories are of backpacking in the Catskills, Adirondacks and the White Mountains, summer and especially winter.
I grew up on a mountain less, off shore Atlantic island but my father decided we should become mountain climbers! As a young man I’d be able to drink beer in restaurants LEGALLY if my parents bought pitchers or bottles and served us themselves. It was a NYS law that my dad was aware of and he abused it.
I lived this strange lifestyle through junior and senior high school. I’d spend most weekends and all my school vacations engaged in extreme rock and ice climbing in the company of American and International mountaineering super heroes who would take the time to show my father and I new techniques and equipment and also share adventurous stories with us over bratwurst and beers.
It would be like having major league players knowing you by name and them taking you under their wing and maybe letting you join in practice. These were people I read about and I owned some of their books. When I appeared back in my neighborhood or school, no one was interested. The American public must be about the most ignorant of mountaineering among Western Countries.
In a way it was as if I had a secret life. I was mountaineering by day with, and hanging out after dark at Emil’s Brauhouse or the Bavarian Inn with, Mickey Mantles and Joe Namaths! And there was no one who was interested! I was a big NY Yankees and NY Jets fan as a kid and also played in Little League. My high school was fabulous in every way. At the time I found this dual lifestyle amusing … sort of like I was Batman or something.
My bible at the time was, “Mountaineering: The Freedom of the Hills” https://www.mountaineers.org/books/books/mountaineering-the-freedom-of-the-hills-9th-edition-1
There is a freedom and a self reliance experienced and learned on the slopes and rocks and trails in the mountains that is unlike anything else IMO. And that lesson is even stronger during the winter months. But the mountain is always in charge. Always has the final say under God of course. And those that forget that are bound to end up having a bad if not fatal time.
The mountains of Europe are full of crosses and little memorials marking the spot where a free climber failed the test he/she put themselves to.
I spent a fair amount of time in the White and Green mountains. Been out in them at all times of year. Old man winters power is magnified in the mountains. Dead winter in February it can easily get down to -30 ambient and on an exposed crest of peak the windchill can drive that down to -90. Survived a night on the slope above the tree line on the Zugspitze during the worst winter storm to hit Bavaria in a decade.
And then there are the thunderstorms where your exposed above the tree line and rains that can make the rock, and particularly limestone, slick as snot.
And then there is the avalanche danger, crevasses, cold weather injury, snow blindness, and yes, when on a glacier in a penetrating sun even severe sun and wind burn to exposed skin.
And when you get above 10,ooo feet you get into the potential for mountain sickness. Pulmonary edema kills people. The first sign that your starting to suffer mountain sickness is usually a headache. I have had the mother of all headaches a couple times but never anything beyond that other than the insomnia and a bit of short breath that comes with it when high up.
But much of our climbing was to lay out a route and putting in the protection for others, carrying not only their basic needs, but also weapons of war, would have to come. And so relatively little of our time was spent on the more technical (meaning more difficult and dangerous) routes. The routes however had to be off the beaten paths because the whole point is avoiding detection by the enemy and so trails were often a no no.
Boogey,
Did you ever run across/meet Alex Lowe?
Not that I’m aware of and I don’t owe him any money!
Hello all, and happy Caturday to you!
I thought I’d give an update on my cat adoption, one week in.
Just a quick recap. C.J. is my black kitty; we’ve been together for 10 years now. Libby is the new black kitty I adopted last Saturday, she’s 4 years old. Not a kitten, but not an old fart like me and C.J.
Libby is a sweet little cat, very affectionate, and she’s got the cutest, sweetest little tiny meow. Her brilliant green eyes are very large, almost owl-like. She’s also very very skinny, and I’m trying to bulk her up a little with a high protein diet.
But she’s still a little shy around me, so it’s an absolute joy and wonder (and awe, perhaps?) to watch her trust in me build a little more each day. When I give the two cats an opportunity to interact, Libby is calm and relaxed, and seems completely willing to be friends with C.J.
But C.J. Ah, C.J. she is having none of this. Libby will lay down next to the baby gate, while C.J. stands off a couple of feet, emitting hisses and threat sounds. But she’s not making an actual aggressive move toward Libby, so maybe there’s yet hope. After all, this is C.J.’s home and now there’s an intruder inside the wire. It looks like it’s going to take her longer to accept that the intruder is here to stay than I had originally thought. And we all know that we mere humans don’t run things, so it’s totally up to C.J.
Tonight we had another session. Libby took her position, lounging beside the baby gate, and tonight C.J. slowly approached to the gate, complaining all the way. She reached out to sniff and gave a couple of spits and a couple of swipes which were thwarted by the gate (I told you she’s got a mean right hook!), and backed away. Meanwhile, I look down at Libby and she’s still lounging as if nothing happened, “Yeah, whatever dude.”
I absolutely treasure and cherish C.J. and above all I don’t want to alienate her or make her feel lesser in any way. So this past week I’ve been helicoptering between the two, trying to ensure that each receives adequate, no, ample attention. It’s been exhausting.
But not without its small rewards. Like tonight, for instance, when C.J. actually came up to the gate. Or the other night – this is the best – I was laying in bed, and I could hear Libby rustling around, playing with the fuzzy ball I gave to her. And as she was playing, she was talking to herself, in her sweet little tiny voice, giving out little chirps and mrrps and brrts of excitement as she leaped and froliced, barely audible. She’s such a sweetie. And those eyes!
Be well, everybody. Best wishes to all you wonderful Treepers, and of course to our host and mods.
Helicoptering love between two cats is exhausting! Thanks for the laugh and the sweet story. I have three cats, all rescues, and all three are smart, sweet, amazing, well-behaved, and I love them dearly, along w/the dog, but helicoptering can be exhausting:)
As a sidebar my cats love bacon and turkey for people treats.
Keep having fun w/CJ and Libby! They are so lucky to have you.
Thanks, but I’m the lucky one. I have two pint-sized panthers looking after me!
Oh Jeff!! Thank you for the marvelous update. Progress indeed. The good thing is that they are not both combative. So I expect day by day life will get a little smoother for all. I pray so. You’ve got a big ole heart, Jeff. Bless you. Once it’s captured by a four legged creature, it’s theirs. Rest up when you can for the next round!🤗😉💖
Thank you for listening to my stories. It’s nice to share the excitement with someone who “gets it.” I have a photo of the moment at the shelter, when Libby came up and sat directly in front of me and looked up at me with those big green eyes. I knew right then that it was too late for me. I just don’t know a place I can put the photo online, so I can link to it here.
Never mind. I’m the same, completely tech ignorant. But it doesn’t matter because the picture you painted is very clear.
You weren’t choosing her. In fact just the opposite, as you must surely know😉. That’s the way it has always worked, borrowing the Welsh saying from when I lived there…a cat chooses you. Oh how true. We passed that test so many times. And were the richer for it.
And I am thriving on your stories, so please…keep them up, Jeff. They really are a balm for the soul, much needed these days🤗
Email me the pic Jeff….I’ll post it right here. 😉
HERE she is…..presenting the absolutely gorgeous Miss Libby! THOSE EYES!!! 😻 😻 😻
Thank you for your gracious offer, Ad Rem. Sending now…
Anytime Jeff…..
Oh myyyyyy😍 What a gorgeous young lady. I’m in love!!!!!!
What a true gem you are, Ad rem.
Takes one to know one! 😘
Yes, she is a keeper.
On July 9, 1936 forty-three states were over 90F, thirty-six states were over 100F and South Dakota, North Dakota and Indiana were all over 110F.
Record Heat of July 9, 1936 | Real Climate Science
As a kid I was so excited when my parents got the luxury of a window unit air conditioner, that evil killer of the climate.
Back in 1936 about the only place a common person could get into A/C was in a movie theater. This is why Afternoon matinees came about and were so popular. Even the White House did not have A/C yet and would not until it was installed during the Truman administration.
There have been several heatwaves during US history where significant numbers of people died before the advent of A/C, including babies that did not wake up from their afternoon naps and people going nuts and committing suicide. This one from 1936 is just one of them.

Found this in our bin….. 🙁
Well … you set me up…
Martha and the Vandellas …
May be lip synched (?) but it’s still a great video. Martha and the Vandellas were to The Supremes as the Rolling Stones were to The Beatles or The Animals to Herman’s Hermits.
Bad A$$!
The 1930’s was a period of most extreme weather. From hot and cold, drought and floods. Many records were set and still stand from that time in the various states.
Much of the erosion in the Adirondacks was caused by remnants of the Great Hurricane of 1938 referred to afterwards as the Long Island Express. Giant Mountain and Gothics Peak come to mind.
The five hottest July 8’s in the US were 1936, 1930, 1921, 1897 and 1937.
106 yesterday, 106 today, and nothing under a hundred for the next 10 days here…ugh…
We are having the same temps here in the central valley of CA, Betsy.
When I was much younger and complained about the heat to my Grandma (born in 1896) she would laugh at me and tell me how easy we had it. She would tell me about having to wash baby diapers outside in a cauldron over a fire in the summer, going down to the railroad yard to collect chunks of ice for her fridge that were used to keep the fruits/vegetables fresh on the railroad cars, having nothing more than fans to keep them ‘cool.’
I often think of times long ago and people like your grandmother, patty. It’s good to know stories like that because it keeps us humble and grateful.
It’s been 100 here, today our real feel is 115 with a light wind. The Lord is blessing us this afternoon with a glorious thunderstorm. With a down pour just beginning. I’m watching the thermometer on the porch drop into the 90s. I had planned on going to our annual Peach Festival out at the orchard but passed due to the excessive heat.
Praise the Lord for another glorious day regardless of the weather.
Side note: I grew up in California in the 50s-60s, no ac at home or in any schools. Seems only movie theaters and department stores had that luxury.
Yikes!!! I keep hoping He’ll bless us with one as well. Tuesday prognosticated for 108 with who knows what it will feel like.
And yes ma’am… any day we wake up is a blessing.🙏😊
This storm knocked our temp down to 73😀. I’m dog sitting our large goldendoodles and the black one got so excited for the coolness he got the zoomies all around the yard.
I so relate to your seemingly endless heat. I lived in west Phoenix for 6 years before moving to Mississippi. The last summer there we had 30+ days of 110 only broken by the daily monsoon rains which lasted about an hour.
Mods. please approve the post I put in as a reply that shows 1,500 deaths during the heatwave of 1897. There is no reason it should have even go into moderation that I can see.
I did rah. It went into moderation because the “format” of the picture was a “gif”….and gifs won’t post here. Most pics are “jpg” or “png”.
Thanks much Ad rem. I’ll try to remember that.
Gifs can be little movies. Start automatically. Repeat automatically. Gum up the works on both ends. Both your computer and the treehouses computers.
Sad really. It was an efficient way of compressing image data.
They eat up our bandwidth like crazy. Some of the “movie” clips can equal more than 200 regular j-pegs.
9 July 2006 Milan Williams, American keyboardist (Commodores – “Three Times A Lady”), dies of cancer at 58.
9 July 2011 Würzel [Michael Burston], British musician (Motörhead), dies of ventricular fibrillation at 61
Hi magic!!! Never really gave Motörhead much of a listen….a little gruff to understand so I looked up lyrics!! I like it!!!! 😍 thank you for highlighting it today. 💋
I had no idea they did a cover of Metallica’s tune til I found it, literally tonight as I had this as an empty notice night.
Mostly I was using the find command, now that I have a little more time scanning the notices by eyeball, rather enlightening to say the least.
The 4th tourism cleaned me out of a few items and once I get them in on either Monday or Thursday, I will be on a cook spree for a while stocking back up for the next crush of both the last 2 weeks before the kids go back to school and Labor day weekend.
Morning Magic. Opposite ends of the spectrum with these two. Well done. Have a great day. Cheers!
Good morning Levi! Looks like another scorcher here.
Heading to town in a bit for men’s breakfast. We rotate churches every second Saturday. Today it’s at the Catholic Church.
Cheers
Morning Gramps. Yup, facing a UV of 12 later today. I’ll be fine inside, thank you.
That’s a swell thing to do. Betcha haven’t heard that word in a while. Enjoy it. Social gatherings are always good. Including God is the frosting on the cake.
Have a beauty of a day. Cheers!
Well, I got inspired after the men’s breakfast to go and play outside with my precision tool. Those handloads require a bit more tweaking but I’m happy to consistently hit the 8 inch metal disk at 200 yards before the thing is really dialed in.
That’s a nice topper offer for a great day, Gramps. I, on the other hand, got inspired to basically sit this day out. So far I have. Cheers, sir. Stay dialed in!
Whoa got to motoring around the kitchen banging my head around ( like I had long hair ) knocked the milk jug off the counter , I think I’ve got a slight case of whiplash. 🙂 🙂 😉

Will You Examine Yourself
Joshua said to the people, “You cannot serve the Lord…” —Joshua 24:19
Do you have even the slightest reliance on anything or anyone other than God? Is there a remnant of reliance left on any natural quality within you, or on any particular set of circumstances? Are you relying on yourself in any manner whatsoever regarding this new proposal or plan which God has placed before you? Will you examine yourself by asking these probing questions? It really is true to say, “I cannot live a holy life,” but you can decide to let Jesus Christ make you holy. “You cannot serve the Lord…”— but you can place yourself in the proper position where God’s almighty power will flow through you. Is your relationship with God sufficient for you to expect Him to exhibit His wonderful life in you?
“The people said to Joshua, ‘No, but we will serve the Lord!’ ” (Joshua 24:21). This is not an impulsive action, but a deliberate commitment. We tend to say, “But God could never have called me to this. I’m too unworthy. It can’t mean me.” It does mean you, and the more weak and feeble you are, the better. The person who is still relying and trusting in anything within himself is the last person to even come close to saying, “I will serve the Lord.”
We say, “Oh, if only I really could believe!” The question is, “Will I believe?” No wonder Jesus Christ placed such emphasis on the sin of unbelief. “He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief” (Matthew 13:58). If we really believed that God meant what He said, just imagine what we would be like! Do I really dare to let God be to me all that He says He will be?
WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS
We are apt to think that everything that happens to us is to be turned into useful teaching; it is to be turned into something better than teaching, viz. into character. We shall find that the spheres God brings us into are not meant to teach us something but to make us something.
Last night, I had a most unusual dream and since it’s caturday, it seems like a perfect fit:
I found him!!! He was curled up behind some rocks in the dark forest. Poor thing was so cold and hungry. He had the appearance of being in fights. Some healed and scarred, some fresh. I built a fire, gave him some food….later, he let me clean him up. It took a case of shampoo and lots of scrubbing (washed his tongue too!), had to buy the biggest toothbrush. He loved my scratches. Feral didn’t break a claw! You should see him now, guys. Feral makeover a success. Feral’s record of taming beasts still intact!!!!! Yay!!!
I listened by the campfire as he spoke:
And that’s where the dream ended. Pout….. perhaps I’ll visit that dream again soon.. 🤞 😉

At first I thought you found Fabio, 🙂 🙂 😉

Morning FC. Wonderful wisdom/knowledge being shared there. To think that God has made us who we are with purpose. I am just not worthy and yet he believes I am. Humbling and further endearing beyond words.
Have a beautiful day. Be blessed. Cheers!
Thank you, Cat. So many times we place our trust and security in the blessings we have rather than in the Giver of the blessings.
After a short break I’m picking up Nipper and taking him to play with his cousins. Maybe his daddy will stop by and visit with him. Haven’t heard back, yet. Hope I don’t have to use a 2×4, with nails…
I found my greatest faith hidden in what seemed to be my successes “my successes” once I realized only good comes from God I began to dissect those successes for information. We all have faith and successes just don’t claim any and you can see Gods hand in our lives.
You ask, God gives immediately but hidden in our ego many times lies the “far out” answers the “mystic details”. God knows everything, start there. Nothing is new, well his love is renewed daily.
. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.

Good morning everyone. Happy cartoons and cereal day. Anyone ever remember coming home and getting in the tub with dirty ankles? I still have a visual of that sight from youth. Thinking back on how much time we spent in the great outdoors as kids it makes sense. But I seem to recall being stumped as a kid. Like “where did that come from?”
Guess I wasn’t too bright but I was not deprived of fun and adventure. Maybe we just lived as Margaret Atwood suggests we should.
Have yourselves a wonderful day, one and all. Be blessed. Embrace your inner child. Play a little, get dirty and smile a lot while you do. Cheers!
So much dirt I’d leave a ring around the tub. 😁😁
LOL……Great memory. Yes, I can remember doing that. Good one Jay!
Little boys are so endearing. My twin grandsons who were little once, as in yesterday, turned 17 yesterday. Young men now, still in high school, with jobs, and manners, and appreciation and awareness of others.
But I can still see them in that tub, ring and all… a memory that is so clear as if I just left the room…big sigh.
Hahaha!!! Oh my goodness YES!!!😘
Happy belated Birthday to your grands!
Thank you, G.🤗 Went over to give them their gift$. They are so tall and I keep shrinking.
As my mother in law said of herself and now I do as well….I’ll just keep shrinking until I disappear completely…*POOF*
I’ll just leave this:

Well done Cat, putting the theme to music. Great tune to tap some dirty toes to.
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

Good Morning ms Idaho! Got a address gonna try to say hi. Watch for it 😉
It’s a cheese Danish kind of morning here. Bought two nice Rib eyes from under the glass at Meijer on sale. Nice steaks that cost me $10.00 each. So I will be grilling for dinner. Baked potato and toss salad will round out the meal.
I also bought a pulse oximeter and a BP monitor yesterday. My drivers physical is coming due. My BP generally runs a bit high with both numbers being elevated, because I’m a smoker and drink a lot of coffee. When I lay off both for 24 hours my BP has always dropped right down well into the normal range. And that is what I have done the last two times I have gone in for a drivers physical. But as one gets older it is probably prudent to leave nothing to chance.
I still have my own BP cuff and statoscope, but trying to take one’s own BP with that is a pain.
The pulse oximeter to monitor my BOL which has to be 96 or higher to pass the physical. And besides is a handy thing to have when one of us gets sick with any respiratory illness to know when it is definitely time to seek professional help.
Know a few drivers taking celery seed extract to lower BP. 😉
Heard of that and just eating a lot of celery as a way to lower BP.
Rah, celery is also very good for reducing gout. I think there is an enzyme in it that reduces uric acid. Remember to reduce your salt intake to help lower your BP too. Also, tonic water (quinine) can help with your muscle cramps. I’m a smoker and coffee drinker also but my issue is elevated heart rate 100-120. Doc put me on a half of the lowest dose of a BP med to bring that down.
My son who is on his feet all day recommended a leg massager that has helped him a lot he says. Ours should be arriving on Tuesday. Hopefully it will help. The last two nights I have had to use BioFreeze ointment on left lower leg and foot when cramps woke me up. So anything that will help, I will use.
I so relate to the cramping. I’m low potassium and take prescription supplement that helps some but not totally. I’m always surprised at the different configurations in my feet and toes when the cramps hit.
Hoping the leg massager helps yours so you can get good rest.
Have a good week, stay safe on the highways and byways.

Another one of the many ‘We’re all gonna die from climate change’ articles.
And like so many, it is just another example of modeled BS. They pretty much say in the article that ‘We aren’t really able to accurately computer model the climate because it is too complicated. But here is what we come up with when we try’.
Also consider the source.

I read through this article and started me to thinking, thoughts many of us have who had children. Number one, what a God given blessing they are. Two, planning is a joke cause God gave them to you, it’s his plan not yours. I watch families of special needs children closer, my nephew had cerebral palsy and his father ran, his mother burned herself out on that boy. He died at 16.
Nobody embraced that child’s gifts they only saw his defects. God always always gives a blessing when such a child is born, embrace that and it will overcome the defect.
Women, I’m a man, I love being a man, I love women, I’m attracted to women but…….I hug and kiss my 21-23-25 year old sons and I do not have any reservations of doing so. I also can see why a spirit would choose to be a woman, to hold and birth a living spirit. A gift only God can give us. Where does that end in eternity? I have to say it doesn’t and all the ruckus of women’s rights or manly hood fade quickly against eternity.
What are we responsible for? Eternity! Get that? We are eternal, and should look up to that never ending ascent. It’s why we have a Bible, instructions for issues we cannot fully understand until we are out of these dirtbags.
A woman was created as a helpmate, and a mother. All her joy and satisfaction is in those roles. Man has to work, he has to secure all needed for a family and generations, for civilizations. He is to lead his family to God and all that implies. A leader has a vision, vision comes from Gods word, from relationship with Jesus.
And this is the part that got me to thinking, why women would you give up your blessings for a life unsuitable for you? Why destroy the one thing that can save your life, a child who loves you unconditionally. Isn’t that what they seek?
Jesus came to me when my first was conceived, he changed me, filled me with his spirit, love. What if I never had that boy? That’s the choice people are making.
What a thoughtful post, Palerider. Thank you. And yet it broke my heart for your nephew..And I am so sorry for all three of them.
My husband’s lads both had muscular dystrophy, so I know. So yes! Hug your boys, because though they are men, they will always be your boys. What gifts from God you have been given. Blessings to you, sir.
Thank you Betsy for putting the right words to my all day thoughts of palerider. Palerider, Betsy speaks for me as well. Love you ❤️

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and his family as they seek to lead America back to You. Also, we pray for Angels to protect and support our Sundance as he works for justice and peace.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall. Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
