Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

They’ve all been checked out of the library because the topic is of the utmost importance. Hence the large space available on the shelf!
🐱🐱🐱🤣
First giggle of my day. Thanks
😂😂😂😹
They’ve been cat-alogued …
Several years ago a public library in a little town in Iowa adopted a stray cat and named it Dewey. The librarian wrote one or two books about Dewey.
Really sweet story. I think they even turned it into a movie.
LEON, Have loved your contributions to the Tree house…but I think I have to leave. Just wanted to tell you.
The Coventry Carol… A piece of music filled with so much sorrow, love, darkness, horror, and beauty. How that is possible I do not know, but there it is….
I think this traditional choral version is perfection, including the commitment to single every note as written which means a dissonant harmony threated throughout.
Libera also sings a beautiful version, though very different because of the tone of the boy’s voices, among other things.
I haveve listened to Libera for years. Awesome beauty!
Ugh. I meant to say: …including the commitment to every single note as written which means a dissonant harmony threaded throughout…. (Yep, I’m a neurotic Treeper who can’t stand when I discover typos in my post too late to be able to edit. gggrrrrrr)
Yeah, like my word “haveve” that I missed and now too late to edit.
Haha! Yeah, I noticed that and kinda liked it. I thought it had a covfefe sort of a feel!
A big thank you for that! 🤗
I had the exact same impression. I miss her. Fireball she was.
My first thought was Covfefe, too.
It took Sarah to point that out. My own word went right over my own head.
😁
By golly, I missed that. It took you to point that out!
Haha on me! 😁
We know what you meant!
You pulled off a typo yesterday too. We ignored it! 😉
Thx. People here are smart enough to assume the correct words.
I have some serious nerve damage and shaky hands.
Just getting this to you with fingers that don’t want to cooperate is a bear.
I often have to back over words and go back and re-read. Sometimes I just give it up.
Have gone back over words and letters 20 times in this message. If people saw my hands trying to do this, they would wonder why I even comment, but I do because all of you worth it and are in a good cause here. 🙂
Now lets see if I can find a typo here..
😁
And you don’t know how much we appreciate you commenting here. Love you, brother!
Appreciate and love you back. Grandpa!
And all here!
Aww, no worries. Between the text imps reading our minds and incorrect spell check it’s a wonder any texts make sense.
With my sisters it takes real imagination figuring out what they mean by what they have typed.
😁
My daughter says my favorite letters are numbers.
That’s cuz the numbers, especially on a phone, are just a hair above the first line of letters. 😁
Grace to you man.
Where do you live?
In heartland OK.
Love it.
Conservative.
No shortages here.
Okies are great!
Ahhh. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
Thank you Sarah, a hauntingly beautiful melody, and horrifying lyrics. Serves to remind that the Christmas we celebrate was a mix of blessings and horrors. Much, I think, like Jesus’ life. Much, I think, like most of our lives.
”Take up your cross and follow Me.”
.
OK guys and gals. Whoever upvoted this post is a serious minimalist!
🤣 , okay!
Always grateful for your posts.
I am familiar with Greek and Aramic linguistics of the New Testamemt.
I believe you are correct.
The final word on interpretation, Moulton and Milligan’s Greek vocabulary of the New Testament would probably agree.
Thank you so much for your early am offerings.
You have blessed many here.
I agree wholeheartedly.
Btw, love your handle here, especially “Feisty!”
Stay that way, please! 😉
In (hopefully in a godly way) I am jealous that you know and understand the original languages of Scripture.
I’ve tried. I just don’t have the mental horsepower. Plus I’m busy.
Where did you go to school?
Frank, ever since our (wife and I) visit to Israel I have been wanting to learn some Hebrew. Same as you – very busy with our business. However, in less than a couple of weeks I am fully retiring and maybe, just maybe I can give it a shot. It is a big maybe, because if my step-dad has to go on dialysis I’ll be the one doing it at home.
Actually, that area is mostly self-study.
I’ve been a student of the Word since young boyhood and was on a national champion Bible quiz team.
We had to practically memorize whole books in the New Testament. That created a great love of the Scriptures in my heart.
Later I spent some good money on the best references, lexicons, etc.and learned a lot.
Wow. Very cool!
You mentioned a few days ago that Lewis is your favorite author. I asked if you like Jonathan Edwards.
I’d still like to know 🤔
Absolutely!
And who could ever forget Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God?!
He came to believe that genuine faith superceded a mere knowledge of doctrine. We have plenty of dead scholars today to prove his premise
He knew the Old Testament, but likely was also thinking of Jesus in the temple wielding a cat-a-nine tails.
I have to add Kipling, Milton, Tennyson…and the faithful Watcman Nee of China who was honored by the US Congress in 2009, imprisoned to his death for his ministry in China.
Also a name you will not likely be familiar with, T. Austin-Sparks, someone I believe understood Christ and the work of the Cross like few in 100s of years.
His two books, PIONEERS OF THE HEAVENLY WAY and THE BATTLE FOR LIFE are 2 of the greatest books written in hundreds of years. They greatly encourage Christians going through the fiery trials of their lives.
Frank, keep seeking God. He’s listening and answer.
😂
😂
😂
…not to you! ❤️
Wow, that’s quite an impressive intellectual feat. I’ll ask with Frank, where did you learn all the NT linguistics?
I don’t know that is so much of an intellectual feat as it was a desire of inspiration.
I have loved God since a small child and was driven to understand His Word correctly and accurately.
I have no doubt many here could do the same with all the right tools. It can be time consuming, but extraordinarily rewarding.
See my reply to Frank above.
Have a blessed weekend!
Actually, our pastor has an app that has all the translation and the pronunciation in Hebrew and even the meaning of the words and letters in Paleo Hebrew. Once you get into it some very interesting stuff comes out. I’ll probably start with that.
When visiting Jerusalem a few years ago we hired a guide to take us in the steps of Jesus. She was a Jewish girl but was very knowledgeable and at the Chapel of the Lord’s Prayer, where the Lord’s Prayer is written on the walls in many languages she read it in Arameic. It was something else to hear it in the language that the Lord spoke.
Blessings back to you!
Niiiiiice
Good to hear that you want to get started in that. We didn’t have the digital assists back in the day. It was strictly hard-cover books which I still love best to this day. Love the smell of the pages on an old book!
I was an avid reader and almost a “live in”at our library.
Started reading Homer before I was 10. It just intrigued me to no end.
I’d check out 10-12 books and my Granny would ask me if I was going to actually read all that. I said yes and I did.
She was a teacher, so go figure. She was the one who introduced me to baroque, classical and romantic era music.
Chopin and Mendelssohn are romantic not classical. Bach and Handel are baroque, not classical. Beethoven and Mozart are classical. There is a difference. Many people lump it all together as classical music.
Overall, that music was part of the great Renaissance as, I opine, part of God’s blessing to drag Earth out of the Dark Age.
Even great paintings like the works of Rembrandt were part of that.
Earth was in dark waters and God blessed people with incredible skills to lift the human spirit and heart to life again.
Yet…here we are again, throwing it all away.
Only God knows the next step.
Bless you in whatever that is.
Glad you got to go to Jerusalem.
Oh, it was a very blessed trip. Always wanted to go back but ain’t getting jabbed. Will have to wait for the New Jerusalem.
We stayed with Israeli friends and got to experience Israel like the locals. I’d be typing all evening to describe all the God moments that happened there.
That would be a story I’d love to hear.
And never get jabbed!
No, wife and I are hard core anti-jabbers.
OK, here is a quick story. One day our friends took us to the See f Galilee, to the place of John 21. there is a church on the spot where Jesus had fish for the disciples. it’s called Mensa Cristi – The Table of Christ. We were walking around inside the church then went outside and took some pictures by the water. My friend told me, “You should have a taste’. I scooped a handful of water from the See of Galilee and looked at it. There were some brown specs floating inside and I wasn’t about to drink it but dipped my pinky and tasted it. To my surprise it tasted very sweet, and I mean like someone had put a bunch of honey in it.
I think, no, I know that God was telling me something. Like,”Son, I’m here, I love you, and I’ve got it all under control.”
❤ to a great new brother here. I understand and love all of you!
Does he use Logos Bible Software?
My pastor now uses that and it is awesome. Also can get awesomely expensive for the lay person. There are many levels of Logos that go from inexpensive to $10K+. Or there are monthly subscriptions that are relatively low cost.
Before he got Logos, he taught using the NASB 1995 version which is my favorite, using http://www.blueletterbible.org.
I prefer to use Blue Letter Bible and turn on the Strong’s (Concordance) feature which provides an exhaustive review of each word and its translations for various contextual uses in the original manuscript language. That site has other powerful querying features which I find of great value, mostly because its all completely free.
I think it’s a different app. I use the Logos (the free version) and the Blue Letter Bible – use a lot of the commentaries.
Just texted our pastor to get the name of the app he uses but haven’t heard back, yet. I think he said one time that it was around $70.
My pastor uses Study Light and The Bible in Hebrew.
Thanks for asking and responding, GrandpaM. I’ve not heard of that software but I’m sure there are many good apps on the market.
Reading a small amount of skepticism, meh be wrong in the reading of your post…
Nope, I think you’re getting the wrong impression. Happens often with online communications when you can’t hear the tone of voice or see the facial expressions. Happens with masks, too or with hijabs.
😂 😂 ❤️ (Your catching on!!!)
YES!
I took New Testament and Old Testament many years ago at a local university. The professor for both classes used original texts and translated on the fly. He used a Greek New Testament and a Hebrew Old Testament. He was an Eastern European Jew that converted to Catholicism and then to Pentecostal. Those two classes were some of the most interesting ones I had in 40 years of going to college.
He told us we could use any translation we wanted (with a couple of exceptions) and kept a record of who used what. He would call us out when he wanted a particular translation used.
His tests were brutal. They were all multiple choice with four choices. One answer was correct. Two answers were plausible but incorrect. The fourth was neither plausible nor correct. The correct answer was worth 5 points. The wrong ones 0 points and the last one a -2. It was possible to end up with negative grades. The good news was if you went to class and studied at all, the right answer was easy.
Awesome!
Sounds challenging but a bit fun and intriguing too.
I once had 26 versions of the Bible. Some were richer in depth than others.
I started with the KJV, found I had to transliterate in order to share my faith.
Settled on the ESV…easier to splain’ and comprehend.
I have settled on the NKJV. BTW, one of the first books that I got when I arrived to the States was the Bible. I think it was NASB. Read it through, wanted to find out what the commies were so afraid of. Didn’t understand much that fist time. It was almost like reading it in Greek. But kept on reading.
Apparently, the Lord has helped you make some serious progress.
You are a great blessing to us here! 👍👍👍
Solomon, you are very kind 🙂
So are you!
I switched from KJV to the NKJV, but with others also like the Conybeare version, ESV, NAV…
No matter what you use, if one asks for the wisdom of the Holy Spirit’s interpretation of the scriptures, God will grant it.
James 1:5
Amen! Sometimes I like to switch to KJV to enjoy the Word with the added treat of the magnificent language.
Niiiiiice. Wonderful post. Great story. Thanks.
😂
Thank you WP.
Hang in with this short clip. It is so worth it. This jam session skitters along the edge of holding itself together which is part of what makes it so great. And the cat loop serving as a metronome of sorts is absolutely priceless!
Sarah, if you ever get a chance, check out how a cat drinks.
It is amazing!
Yeah, someone turned me onto this several years ago. What a trip, eh? Now, speaking of cats, not sure if you’re into cats but if you’ve learned about how they drink I’ll go with that you like cats, or are at least intrigued by them. Are you familiar with Maru, the Japanese cat who’s obsessed with boxes? That cat is really unusual, not just because of his obsession but because he’s really smart and persistent and a very unique character. His owner imbues his various habits and charms in delightful ways and every year on his birthday she puts together a compilation video. Here’s the one from this year when he turned 14. What a wierd and wonderful cat!
My one pet/cat was a heartbreaker. Kitty.
The only cat I ever had.
Won’t go into the details.
It will make me break down though Kitty’s demise was 21 years ago, same year I had a heart attack and a couple other disasters.
I had a friend build a super cat box for him.
His, my cat’s, end was terrible.
I lived with a long term Army family years later, and the old guy said, God gave us pets to spoil. He was right.
21 years later, I still miss my cat.
I’m sorry you have such a haunting and somewhat tortuous memory. That’s hard and painful…. I read something recently where the author noted that people are brave to bring pets into their home because they know the pet’s life span will be shorter than their own in most cases. And yet they subject themselves to the ultimate loss in order to have that bless-ed time together. It sounds like your loss was very complicated and tragic and that’s a hard experience to have lodged in your psyche.
It was very complicated.
It got to a point I had to pull his eyelids out and dress his eyes.
I admit, as a hardened soldier, I cried over my cat.
Jesus was the Ultimate Man’s man…and wept.
There are at least 22 emotions attributed to God revealed in Scripture.
Since we’re created in His imagine I suppose it’s normal to experience a full range of emotions.
I do pretty good at anger
Me, Too! (Much to my chagrin!) (anger is easier to deal with than hurt!)
Was Humor/laughter one of the 22?
I sure hope so!!!!
Psalm 2:4-6 ESV
Sort answer…YES.
Thanks Frank! I have felt that in my heart my whole life!!!
I have to admit, the hurt lasts longer than a blow-up of anger.
On the flip side, a short burst of anger can destroy a helluva of stuff.
Anger doesn’t have to be a bomb. It’s called being an adult and in control of your emotions. What are we, 13 year olds? Who are we dealing with? Other 13 year olds?
Anger replaces many emotions and, is for some, easier to deal with.
But in contrast, once and awhile, anger can be holy.
Deut 32:22
Ezk 6:11
But only on God’s terms.
Tell me one adult in all of history who didn’t lose it in carnal terms. Bet you have with all the rest of us.
There’s only One.
Jesus Christ, even angry in the temple.
But it wasn’t carnal like ours.
Solomon, let’s make a deal. I won’t respond to you, you don’t respond to me. Sorry, something is triggering my “spidey-sense.”
X-out!
XXX
And those are not kisses!
I still love you with God’s heart.
I’m just honoring your request.
Even Paul and Barnabas had a falling out.
Paul and Peter had their disagreements but reconciled.
So whatever you disagree with me about, consider reconciliation.
I will love you as a member of the Body of Jesus Christ no matter.
I’ll leave at that.
Leave it on our Lord’s Altar as I will.
Now, you claim God’s heart? Be in no doubt, I am a beloved daughter of God. “Reconciliation.” Wow , you are good. How do you know I am a member of the Body of Christ? You’re over reaching.
I’ve had to work on the anger thing to the point of breaking things, but only when I was alone. I’m better at it now by God’s grace.
Shameful to admit, but honest to confess our carnal mortality.
Yes. JESUS wept.
And the book of Hosea is certainly a representation of God’s heart.
Our 14 year old red border collie just got canine idiopathic vestibular disease. We started treating her Wednesday when she couldn’t stand.
If she’s not back to reasonably normal Sunday…
In short. My beloved wife shares your sentiments.
Hang in there, Frank, the old dog vestibulitis usually resolves in a couple of weeks. They just need some help to get through it. Are you giving her Meclizine? It does wonders. Usually, accompanied by some steroids and antibiotics but the Meclizine helps them with the vertigo.
I pray at this age it is just the vestibulitis but if it came on really sudden the chance are that’s what it is.
She’s improving!
My wife is ecstatic. I’m stoked!
Praise the Lord!
Wait it out as it gets better. My dog was diagnosed with Vestibular Disease and it’s horrible to see but it looks worse than it is. He had three bad episodes and it went away. His head was rocking back and forth, he couldn’t stand or walk, and appeared very confused. And whimpered for hours. The vet said it’s like a terrible form of sea sickness or vertigo. He said try to assist the dog outside to toilet and get him to eat and drink from his bed and wait for it to go away. We were so fearful we’d have to put him down, but the vet was right, it’s gone now. He’s old and wobbly from arthritis but other than that he’s fine. I hope your dog recovers too! BTW – if the dog’s eyes rock back and forth that’s a tell-tale sign it’s Vestibular Disease. Sometimes an ear infection causes this condition too.
Thanks! She’s improving!
So glad to hear that, Frank.
People might think I’m crazy, but I actually pray for my friends’ pets after going through my own experience.
Same for yours!
That’s wonderful – So glad to hear it!
Frank if your dog can’t stand there’s a special sling available that goes around her hind quarters and has straps that allow you to lift her up. I got one for Sweetie when she grew to weak to stand on her own. It helped a lot.
Vet used a large towel. Us too. She’s walking now but wobbles.
A male beast of a cat adopted me about 2 months ago.
He comes home nicked up every morning. My dogs give him a wide berth.
He follows me like a dog! We don’t let him inside. I have to pick him up or my dogs won’t enter the house because he swats at them when they try to enter.
I’m thinking about naming him Bullhead.
Had a cat like that in the 70’s, he used to kill rabbits and eat them. Didn’t need much purina cat chow.
He ate 2 moles. Only left the alimentary canal. Hilarious
My family was adopted by a neighbor’s cat back in the 70s when they moved. Freddy was The Great Gopher Hunter. He loved bringing me pieces of his nightly catches. His favorite place was my kitchen rug. Yay, gopher guts first thing in the morning, ewww. One time he brought in a whole gopher including the trap. I still laugh at the memories of that.
Uh oh!
That or Firebrand.
I’m sorry my brother, way too familiar with the heartache of losing pets.
Towards its end, it scratched my right arm. I couldn’t use it for 3 days. It was very painful.
But not as painful as when Kitty went off to die in my neighbors shed which he discovered weeks later and buried Kitty in his yard for me. He was s great neighbor.
We’ve had a lot of pets, dogs and cats over the years and every time on of them goes a prt of me goes with them.
You sound like a retired, now passed, 30 year Army guy I was best friends with.
He once told me that God gave us pets to spoil. That family was the biggest pet family I ever knew. During my years of living with them, I helped bury some of their pets in all their tears.
When they would go off RVing, I was their guy to take care of and feed their pets who pretty much adopted me as their own. I loved it.
One day, maybe I’ll get another “Kitty.”
We have 3 cats right now that were born at the house. the male cat was just howling – about to die from hunger. One of the females expects to be picked up and carried to her food bowl.
Both dogs that we have showed up on the road down at our gate at different times.
Orphans you adopted.
Good on ‘ya! 🤗
Bummer
She’s improving!
👍
Hallelujah!
Very Strange Cat!
SARAH!!!! You’re killin’me here!!!!!!
Cannot say that I have ever seen anything quite like that before!
Man, that cat can really play!….
Will Ackerman is responsible for establishing an entirely new American musical genre call “New Age” music. In the 80’s and 90’s Windham Hill records produced a number of recordings that established formally obscure, underground, performers and turned them into revered nationally recognized artists. It was a fascinating time and, fortunately, much of their musical output is available to us on Youtube and other music sites. Ackerman, himself, was a wonderfully talented guitarist, producing a number of completely unique solo recordings that reflect both his personality and virtuosity.
Tonight I’ve chosen three selection from one of his Windham Hill recordings called “The Sound Of Wind Driven Rain“. I have to admit I’m being a little self-indulgent here—this is some of my absolute favorite music. This is late-night, sit-in-a-comfortable-chair and just enjoy the solace of Will’s masterful playing. Enjoy, Treeper friends.
Guys, formatting is again defeating my efforts. For some reason the images are not appearing. Don’t know why. I’ll keep trying but it looks like I’m going to get timed out.
Love you!… (now I’m gonna say something rude:). I used to go down into the basement and tinker around on the piano…’til Mum yelled down, “STOP!” I thought it was pretty!!!! ❤️
. . . 🙂 !!!
Wow, Windham Hill! That brings me back! Did you ever listen to Brian Eno’s work? It’s much more minimal than the work Windham Hill produced, which is melodic, lyrical, and soothing. Eno’s work is more spacious and cyclical. Here’s a wonderful example. I listened to this for so many years and your post brought that time in my life all back!
Yep. New Age music encompassed a lot of formally obscure musicians and, for a time at least, allowed them to have much larger audience. Did you ever listen Liz Story’s piano music?
Never heard of Liz Story, but going to wander on over to YouTube to check her out right now……
One of my favorites is her “Escape Of The Circus Poneys“.
Thanks for the recommendation. It’s got a bit too much of a jazz-ish flavor which isn’t usually my thing, even though I can appreciate some forms of it. This one came up along the side list on the page and it brought me back even more. I listened to this sssoooooo much when I was young….
I still have Windhm Hill LP’s along with an expensive turn-table w/ Linn Sondek tone-arm—all pretty high-zoot stuff at the time. Wonder if it’s worth anything now?
Garrison, new age label or not, some of it was fantastic…e.g. Enya.
She produced some amazingly beautiful music.
And most of her music she dubbed in multiple tracks over herself.
I will be the last person on earth to judge other peoples’ taste in music.
Know what I mean, Vern? 😉
Who can’t appreciate this?
Garrison, both of these are awesome and soul soothing!
I bet this a high priced guitar. Even over digital stuff, the resonance shines through like a long finish of a swallow of classic cabernet!
Thanks for these 2 offerings.
Have a great weekend!
This one goes out to the many “news” people and celebrities that swallowed Jussie’s obvious lies, hook, line and sinker. And now that the truth is undeniable, and their own stupidity and bile has been exposed for what it was, are silent. In fact, their silence is deafening!
Ha! Love it. This is what they get for answering questions nobody asked!
👍
Thanks rah!
Garrison, Things have gotten Crazy in the Treehouse.. Your love and grace and sanity are one of the only things keeping me here. THANK YOU.
Garrison:
I would be shocked if you don’t know this or have not seen this, but still just for you.
Jubilation by Andrew York. Good stuff.
👍
Thinking of “today”, thinking of “now”:
2 Cor. 6:2 (cf. Isaiah 49:8)
“For He says: “In the acceptable time I listened to you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is the time of favor; behold, now is the day of salvation.
Isaiah 55:6-7
“Seek the LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”
Hebrews 3:15a (cf. Psalms 95:7-8)
“As it has been said: “If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts…”
Revelation 22:17 (cf. Isaiah 55:1)
“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life drink freely.”
—
Thinking of why:
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 5:24
“Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.”
—
Thinking of how:
Luke 18:13
“And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his chest, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’”
James 4:8a
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
John 6:28-29
“Therefore they said to Him, “What must we do, that we may be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you should believe in Him whom He has sent.””
Mark 9:24b
“‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.'”
Acts 16:30-31
“Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household.””
I’ve read this many times since you began posting and yet I find a new perception every time. ❤️🙏
TM…
If you get a chance, would you go back to just_stevie’s OC 11.9.2021 devotional on the open thread and review my comment about “good.”and Jesus’s statement to the one who called Him good master.
That issue has been a spiritual quandary to me for decades. I trust your spiritual acumen and interpretation of the Scriptures. I’d like another opinion.
I will be glad to listen to your thought and perhaps learn from it about that issue.
Thanks.
What an ugly thing!

PURE EVIL: The United Nations Unveils a Statue at its NYC Headquarters that Resembles the Beast from the Book of Revelation
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/12/pure-evil-united-nations-unveils-statute-nyc-headquarters-resembles-beast-book-revelations/
It is pure evils, shows what’s inside of the UN crowd.
Come Lord Jesus!
We’re READY
They’ve put another hideous one in Rockefeller Plaza. Art they may call it. I find them both spiritually disturbing.
THE OFFERING OF THE NATURAL
“Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.” Gal. iv. 22
Paul is not dealing with sin in this chapter of Galatians, but with the relation of the natural to the spiritual. The natural must be turned into the spiritual by sacrifice, otherwise a tremendous divorce will be produced in the actual life. Why should God ordain the natural to be sacrificed? God did not. It is not God’s order, but His permissive will. God’s order was that the natural should be transformed into the spiritual by obedience; it is sin that made it necessary for the natural to be sacrificed.
Abraham had to offer up Ishmael before he offered up Isaac. Some of us are trying to offer up spiritual sacrifices to God before we have sacrificed the natural. The only way in which we can offer a spiritual sacrifice to God is by presenting our bodies a living sacrifice. Sanctification means more than deliverance from sin, it means the deliberate commitment of myself whom God has saved to God, and that I do not care what it costs.
If we do not sacrifice the natural to the spiritual, the natural life will mock at the life of the Son of God in us and produce a continual swither. This is always the result of an undisciplined spiritual nature. We go wrong because we stubbornly refuse to discipline ourselves, physically, morally or mentally. “I wasn’t disciplined when I was a child.” You must discipline yourself now. If you do not, you will ruin the whole of your personal life for God.
God is not with our natural life while we pamper it; but when we put it out in the desert and resolutely keep it under, then God will be with it; and He will open up wells and oases, and fulfil all His promises for the natural.

I would not presume to know what God Himself thinks about this, but I suspect He will not be pleased. And per the conversation above, I do believe Jesus is weeping. A harsh, ungodly act, and at Christmas. The heart hurts.

BE MY VOICE
Just breaking!! Supreme Court leaves Texas abortion law intact and in place! Bodes extremely and wonderfully well for their decision in June on Roe v Wade. Hallelujah!
I don’t know where my reply went. I just wrote that you made my day with these great news! Hallelujah indeed!
A tweet from a doctor which I just read.
“Delivered 450g baby. Told she was too small she had no chance. She kept stopping breathing so stayed up with her for 2 nights rubbing her chest for every breath. Consultant said I was wasting my time.
She just performed her first ballet as a 6 year old.”
This was in Britain where life is cheap and getting cheaper. God bless this man who deserves the title of doctor. 🙏
Betsy, what a great story!
Many years ago in Houston right before our oldest son’s wedding his future BIL who was in high school at the time got in a car wreck that everyone else walked away from. He was in a comma for 6 months. Herrmann hospital kept pushing our in laws to turn off the life support. They are very strong Christians and refused. He woke from the comma and is still with us to this day.
Deo gratias, GrandpaM!!!! Hermann is a teaching hospital. I dread to think turning everything off at the first sign of difficulty is what they were teaching med students. What a joyous outcome. God does answer prayers.
🤗
Here I go with the typos. It is coma not a comma. And I did it twice. LOL!
My granddaughter gave me the right thing to say when that happens…Autocorrect done me wrong!
Hello to you, Solomon😊…you’ve been a busy correspondent today. It’s so good to see. I would have jumped in but I got a late start because I kept getting a 302 error. Short lived thankfully. I was having withdrawal symptoms!
Thank you.
Have been trying to get as much said here as possible before going off for awhile. As said to you elsewhere, I let Frank know too. I think GrandpaM too.
Don’t worry about me.
I’ll be okay.
Btw, mungrel taught me some good Aussie humor.
Love ‘im for it.
Somebody took me to task here today, said don’t communicate, and completely misunderstood my intent. Kind of hurt my heart but I offered an olive branch.
If you go through this thread, you will know.
Bless you, Betsy.
Time to get some other responsibilities taken care of for now. I’ll be back.
💙⚘💙
Yes!
I keep that little story on my phone, Frank, for obvious reasons.
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, amen.
i was replying to Dora, don’t know what happened and how I got this second text box opened.
Gooday pop , I left a long post here for Frank but the whole CTH was shut down and now my post is missing.
While I’m here the reason I asked “is that you pop” ,
Is funny and based on truth.
I have a long lost grandfather , a gambler, a drinker , Irish and he went missing , he took up with some rich bird and went to America and that was the last we ever heard of him,
Take in mind that my surname begins with M
Sometimes a man has to wunder !
Gracious good day! My link to this site was unavailable this morning for some reason. Only now able to get her up and going. I felt as if my world had suddenly stopped. Which it had.
Just checking in and glad to see you😊 LBT, as always.
Good morning Betsy, same here. Had to use a different browser app to get on. Will check with y’all later today. Got a honey do list. How is the teenage invasion going?
Good morning, sir. It was glorious!! I so enjoy my time with my brood. The boys are men now, even at 16. They are thoughtful, thinking lads. I’m especially gratified that they bring their friends up to my car for a chat and that the friends want to come over. Warms my heart, you have no idea💓.
Their sister is quite the artist in that at 13, her techniques and her eye for detail and proportion, colour, all amaze me so we discuss art. We’ve been discussing political happenings, sprinkled with a little seasonings from yours truly. They all get it, Deo Gratias.
They don’t have as much time with me as they once did, but not for the wanting of it. Activities and adulthood beckon, which is natural, if not bittersweet. But that they still are thrilled and ask to come over is one of His blessings, and I’m so grateful. Drivers licences in the offing, then they will be able to come over whenever they want to.
I hope you are well. Honey do lists can take it out of you. How lucky your wife is to have you joyfully so obliging. What a treasure you must be.
Vacuuming done and now for a lovely cup of tea and elevenses (a mid morning snack) You were sweet to ask about my yesterday, GrandpaM… God bless you.😊
Grand kids are such a blessing. I love my kids but nothing like the grands. So glad that you are enjoying yours.
Thank you for your very kind words. Treasure, hmmm, I don’t know. I’m just an old chunk of coal but I’ll be a diamond some day. LOL!
But seriously, I try to help when I can. For the last year my wife has been the primary caregiver for her sister who went through colorectal cancer. She licked the cancer but still has quite a few issues – dementia (though she has many lucid moments), ostomy bag, not eating so we feed her through a feeding tube. You get the picture. Since I can’t help that much directly with my SIL I try to help as much as I can with all the other stuff. Good thing is that at the end of September I partially retired and in less than 2 weeks I’ll be retired fully, God willing.
Blessings, sister!
Nothing wrong with coal…it keeps us warm…like grandads.
Oh, I’m so so sorry, G. God be with your loving and caring wife and her sister. No one knows why so much seems to hit all at once or why it seems to happen to good and lovely people. That is one of the conundrums for which I have struggled for an answer. What a good man you are. I’m so certain God’s loving presence is with you all, whether or not you sometimes feel overwhelmed, as I’m sure all do. How fortunate for your sister in law that circumstances so far have kept her in the loving embrace of her family. That is a blessing in itself.
Prayers are up on my part for you all. It’s a giving thing you and your wife are doing. Not easy I know…and I do truly know.
Thank you, Betsy!
💓🙏
You’re a great example to us young guns!💪🤣💪
🙂
I also let Frank know I would be off for awhile.
And I am really appreciating Grandpa M too here of late.
What a loving soul!
Bless you. Be back when I can.
💙🌹💙
Hurry back. 🙏 Stay safe and well. God’s blessings for you always, Solomon.
💙⚘💙
Haha, Gooday Mungrel. That is a funny story but no I’m not your long lost pop. I came to America alright thirty some years ago but from one of the Warsaw Pact Soviet satellite countries.
‘Running to the grocery store this morning which is over 20 miles away and will check in later to see if you reposted the long post. I have a funny story from our trip to Ireland. Maybe I’ll have the time later to tell it.
‘Cheers
Ah, a gambler.
Just for you M, this song by Kenny Rogers is one of my favs of all times with a lot of truth about life in these words. Pretty sure you know that and have been at that table with the rest of us.
Have held the aces sometimes, had to walk away other times.
The losses are painful. But when you clean up the table, the wins are sweet, especially with some good whiskey and/or single malt scotch. Cheap or high dollar, depending how you’re doing at the table and who you’re up against.
Now, I’m waitin’ for you to hit me with some more Aussie humor! 😁
Ready for incoming!
Have a great weekend down under!
PS: Sometimes a man has to wunder/wonder…
…And wander.
News that I doubt you’ll see on the “news”.
BOMBSHELL: In court filing, Facebook admits ‘fact checks’ are nothing more than opinionBOMBSHELL: In court filing, Facebook admits ‘fact checks’ are nothing more than opinion – Watts Up With That?
Of course those of us that think for ourselves already knew that, but for Facebook to admit it in a court filing now makes it so that those that don’t think for themselves or those that feed the lies to those that don’t think for themselves, are in an untenable position.
I Have always contended that “fact checkers” were an invention of a media that understood the credibility of their “Journalists” had deteriorated so much, they had to come up with a ploy to back their lies.
Saw it! And 💯 agree!
I knew there was a reason I called FB a$$book all along.
At the gas station, thanks to creepy biden, we sure are missing some of that:
“bubblin’ crude, oil, black gold, Texas Tea.”
“Let’s go Brandon!”
. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.

Oh, Bubby!!!!! I’m sure some people will think that is blasphemous, I however choose to think that our Glorious God has the most wonderful sense of humor and I had to stop drinking my wine after the first time I nearly spit it out on my keyboard!!!
Merry Christmas and well done!
I did worry about that before posting but I also believe God has a great sense of humor. Ecclesiastes 3:4 ” a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,” So laughter, dancing, singing, joyful praise are all God given! I love this time in Advent season it’s my favorite! I’m glad you enjoyed it and hope others do as well! Merry Christmas to you as well and to all the Treepers! Godspeed Sundance!
TMI!!! Today is my Birth-day! 30 year ago today I gave birth two my wonderful twin boys!!!!They both like Queen so I sent them that!!!!
Awesome. They keep true to the story, and the lyrics glorify God so the puppets and rock music do not detract from the message, but might reach someone who otherwise would not bother to learn…
And if that can open the heart of one more person …. it has achieved a part of what God has required of all believers
Well my mission today is to procure the rest of the fixings for my wife’s wonderful vegetable soup. Yesterday I bought a wonderful Top Round Roast on sale and she has decided she wants to make her vegetable soup, which despite the name, is always full of meat. It is one of those dishes that is a meal in a bowl and can only be made right in a large batch. So, as always it will be shared with my neighbors and my Dad and his caregiver.
served in a special bread bowl I assume?
yum
and it’s too soon after breakfast for me to be hungry
My gram always had a pot of soup on the stove. Any and all leftovers were added, water from cooking veggies was added. well – sometimes she would start a new pot – but rarely.
maybe you will think about us poor treepers who will go without your delicious soup today
Na, just in a regular bowl but with home baked bread at my house.
Niiiiiice

Maybe you folks know this – ’twas a revelation to me. I always thought I was watching a Disney movie for entertainment.
Hah – boy was I wrong. Yellow brick road indeed
Wow. Very good read! Please keep spreading it.

Well, Randy and I are disappointed. The team that had the accident have been cleared to drive and so we are not going to do the Wreaths Across America run. We both were looking forward to it.
So next week I take off Sunday afternoon for a 5 stopper with one stop in Missouri and four in Illinois that comes back to the Vandalia terminal. That is what I will be doing all week next week.

My six and a half yo grandson was saying that line a couple of weeks ago. I don’t think he’s ever heard that song, although he was around me plenty of times while I was watching President Trump rallies. He’s just a very wise child. sometimes I jokingly say smarter than both his parents put together and his Daddy agrees.
If the rotisserie chickens they sell in grocery stores get much smaller, they will have to start calling them Cornish Game Hens.

Just saying…..this has been weird!
St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and his family as they seek to lead America back to You. Also, we pray for Angels to protect and support our Sundance as he works for justice and peace.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
Amen
