Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

?
Good morning.
Love that Honky-Tonk Piano!
A little different
Well I do love it. I gain a lot of satisfaction in delivering intact and on time. I feel a sense of pride when I make a tough back look easy and I walk up with my paperwork and somebody says “It looks like you’ve done that a time or two” or when I keep the wheels rolling while almost all the other truckers are pulling into truck stops to park it because of road or weather conditions.
But what is the best is the peace, Yes, driving and thinking and seeing this great land of ours, brings me peace. Despite the other drivers that one encounters at times that shouldn’t even be allowed on a bicycle.
I really can’t explain it. It is just what I like doing at this point in my life and I’m not ready to give it up though I could retire right now if I so desired. I just don’t know what I would do with myself if I retired right now.
Add to that, the fact that in 15 weeks after I go back to work I will have made enough money to pay the $7,500 in medical bills not covered by insurance and to pay for a whole house generator installed, plus our normal monthly bills and living expenses, without dipping into savings.
Now after having said all that I am sure that sometime in the future here you’ll read a rant about how hard their working me because according to a couple of other drivers doing the on call job that I will soon return to, they’re running their butts off and they can’t remember the last time they got 48 straight hours off without being called to go on a run.
YOU sir, are what made America great! RAH! RAH! RAH!
Just a guy doing a job he loves to the best of my ability.
Enjoyed reading that rah. Good on ya. This is a really big country and there’s a lot of folks out there with a patriotic muscle memory.
Out there amongst the mobile ( phone booths ) doing almost everything but driving, one can get lots of chuckles if you just relax and sing praises to Jesus. After 48 years it’s the only thing that keeps me sane on the road. Seems like most people only strive to be mediocre in their work. I was taught to strive for perfection and can’t change. Missing my # 1 (Dad) a lot these days.
You know it’s about attitude. It is easy to dwell on negative thoughts out there on the road alone. I think all successful truck drivers have learned to recognize when that is happening and know the psychological tricks to stop it and turn their thoughts around to be more positive. Even a change in the music one is listening to can make the difference.
A “tough back” is like watching an artist…separates the drivers from the drivers–glad to see your life is in good order
I would not call hauling swinging meat a “sweet run”. For those of you that may not know. Swinging meat generally means hauling sides of beef or butchered whole port carcasses that are hanging on hooks from in the a refer trailer.
Think of the momentum of the load shifting the center of gravity of the rig during turns or when trying to stop quickly. Whole rigs have been known to be rolled simply by hitting a big pot hole in a truck stop while turning. One also must learn to shift with the surges when hauling such loads as one must also do when pulling a tanker trailer. Our refer loads outbound are for Nestles, but even on backhauls I have never hauled swinging meat.
My job is to be on call. to take loads which drivers call off of, or don’t show to take, or that don’t get covered by a regular driver. Thus I go Wherever duty calls, hauling what ever that load consists of. However all we pull are 53′ dry vans, or refer trailers or every great once in awhile drop deck dry van trailer.
I am also required to team drive to cover team loads or fill in for a missing team partner, or when a load that is usually run by a solo driver is so far behind that it must get their right away. Also unlike many OTR drivers, though at times I have been out for two weeks when covering a dedicated route at a terminal other than my own, I a usually am home between loads one to three times every week.
Unlike most over the road drivers that are paid by the mile, I am paid a salary that is based on a five day work week.. If they work me on a day off I get another days pay prorated based on my salary which is for working five days a week.
I go anywhere in the US or Canada necessary, The company accounts in Canada are all in Ontario or Quebec and the vast majority are in the Toronto area. In the US I rarely make it out further west than Arizona. I have never been to the states of Washington, Oregon, or Florida driving for this company I work for now but have been to those states many times driving for other companies previously.
The company I drive for has the best maintained equipment of any of the several other companies I drove for before. They are a quality company that treats the drivers that have gotten the job done for them very well as I have seen during this time being off for my surgery and recovery.
Tankers without baffles hauling milk.
Popped popcorn to the left coast and fresh flowers back. Straight loads of monkey pickles ( bananas ) or any straight loads gits the thumbs up, mixer loads not so much. Sometimes 25 to 30+ picks and 5 drops can exhaust even a team thats been together a long time. Used to puzzle me when I could see the exact same product on the floor but we had to run to a different dist. 50 miles away for 5 bags of carrots for example.
Yea! Most loads we do for Toyota, Nissan, or Honda are “milk runs” and involve bumping 3 to 5 docks. One thing I have learned is that there is a great deal of industry in this country located out in the sticks far away from any major population center.
Be driving out among the flat corn fields of Ohio then suddenly there is a valley, Down by the river in the valley is a little village. Picturesque! A place worthy of someone painting. Take a right at the cafe that has a bunch of Amish wagons parked outside and then on the left there is the small place I am picking up. The place has a single dock. When I go in they load me with rubber parts they have manufactured there used in Boeing aircraft.
On your road atlas maps are little green dots that indicate scenic route , while cruising in the motorhome I like to go down those routes just to remember what I used to see. Back in the 80’s we used to get these paper loads TP paper towels delivered to mom and pop gas stations, restaurants, grocery stores ect. What a blast meeting with Americans out in flyover country.
My son will be taking his CDL road test in about 10 days.
If he passes he’ll be driving for “Big Brown.”
I hope he loves it as much as you do.
There is so much more to this business than people realize. I still learn new stuff all the time.
Stuff happens. He must keep calm when it does. . Every driver gets lost or misoriented at times,. The key is to not get flustered or frustrated and use good judgment to get yourself out of the mess and get to where you need to go. Never mind the joker behind you blowing their horn, Safety is the overriding concern.
Statistically the most dangerous time for a new driver, the time when they are most likely to have an accident, is not in the first few months of driving, It’s after they have gained enough confidence to think they have it mastered and try to do things they never would have tried in the first months or become complacent and allow themselves to be distracted.
Never ever fail to read the road signs and clearances for overpasses and bridges. “Topping” a trailer is one of the most common mistakes rookies make. The other very common mistake is tailgating. Rolling back into a vehicle behind when starting from a dead stop on an incline. Not realizing the nose of their trailer on the outside of the turn is projecting out when making hard turns into a confined space. And taking exit ramps too fast and ending up rolling over.
A common excuse when they have roll overs is that the driver claims the load shifted. Well it’s the drivers responsibility to know their load and to secure it. In the case of hooking to a preloaded trailer that is sealed be cautious and get a feel for the load that is in the trailer and if it is secured.
I appreciate the advice.
I’ll be sure to pass it on.
Thanks!
BTW in the back hills of Pennsylvania I have driven 20 miles before I came to a place where I could safely turn around and go back to catch a turn I missed.
Oh and one other thing. He should not be afraid to get out and slide those trailer tandems all the way back to get rid of the overhang of the trailer over the rear axle when backing into a tight spot. I still do that at times in situations where some obstacle limits my swing in front of the truck or when I am blurry eyed with fatigue and it’s dark and I have to back into the only spot left in a truck stop.. That overhang results in more backing accidents than anything else.
My daddy felt the same way. It was in his blood. Good driving genes. Reflexes, reading the road, reading the crazies out there. Perception. I got them too. I’m a real female. Don’t drive a semi, but I do have a nice Silverado and it hasn’t got stock engine either. I respect Truckers. Thank you, Truckers. In this age, on the earthly plane, you’re the life blood of the country. But spiritually, the life of the flesh is in the blood. Thank you Lord Jesus.
Repentance and Salvation
By Pastor Ricky Kurth
“What do sorrow and repentance have to do with salvation, and why would anyone repent of being saved? (II Cor. 7:10).”
“For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of…” (II Cor. 7:10).
There are different kinds of salvation in Scripture. Paul spoke about the salvation of our souls (Eph. 2:8,9), but he also spoke about his physical salvation from prison (Phil. 1:19 cf. Ex. 14:13). Additionally, he advised Timothy that if he would continue in Pauline doctrine he would “save” himself from the misery that always comes from not continuing in Pauline doctrine! (I Tim. 4:16). There is also the salvation from despair that the hope of the Rapture gives (Rom. 8:23,24), and the Rapture itself is called a salvation (Rom. 13:11).
The salvation in our text is yet another kind. In the context, Paul says he made the Corinthians sorry “with a letter” (II Cor. 7:8), i.e., his first epistle to them, in which he rebuked them for not disciplining the man living in fornication (I Cor. 5). They then “sorrowed to repentance” about this (II Cor. 8:9). The word repentance means to have a change of mind, and they changed their mind about allowing the fornicator to continue in their midst. This “saved” them from the dangerous leavening effect that his presence would otherwise have among them, and so their godly sorrow worked repentance to salvation, a salvation Paul assured them they would not regret or repent of later.
It also worked another kind of salvation among them, one similar to the salvation Paul references in I Corinthians 5:5, where he speaks about the fornicator and tells them,
“To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.”
In context, we know that delivering the man to Satan meant putting him out of the assembly (v. 2,13). Letting him wallow in sin might destroy his flesh, but it would bring him back to the Lord, and “save” him from a loss of rewards at the Judgment Seat (I Cor. 3:15). The Corinthians would likewise be saved from such loss by their obedience to Paul’s instructions. Their sorrow worked this kind of repentance to salvation as well, another salvation they would not regret, of course, for no one at the Judgment Seat will ever repent of having done the right thing.

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Romans 13:11 ¶ And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
2 Corinthians 7:8 For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season.
2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
1 Corinthians 5:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

1 Corinthians 5:13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
1Corinthians 3:15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Here are two great organ toccatas . . . Buxtehude is a bit less well known but is l a glorious composition nonetheless.
Widor’s magnificant toccata from his 5th organ symphony is, for obvious reasons, a universally popular favorite all around the world. I especially like hearing this because of the way Widor uses his dramatic pedal passages in counterpoint to the piece’s main theme. It’s almost as if he has two separate conversations going on at the same time. 🙂
The Great cathedrals were usually designed around their pipe organs. In effect the cathedral became a part of the instrument. They are famous for their long reverb—the best lasting a full 7 seconds.
Pipe organs are truly magnificent instruments. They generally embody two designs. Some organs translate the piano keys to the pipes through a complex “mechanical tracker” process. More modern pipe organs, like this one, are “electronic trackers” and translate the piano style keyboard to the pipes through electronic sensors. Purists prefer the mechanical tracker design which often requires helpers to make the music happen. Traditionally, organ builders lived in the organ loft while working on the instrument. They were fed and supported by the church congregation. Many contemporary organ builders continue the practice.
One time years ago while in the Army and at Ft. Myer for a couple days, I was at a bar one night off post and sat and talked to a guy on a contracting team that did nothing but go around the country and repair and rebuild the old big pipe organs. He told me that they used no new technology or materials, The organs were repaired and rebuilt using exactly the same materials and methods in use when they were originally installed.
Yeah. Those guys are kinda mystical about the work they do.

The Sahara desert has shrunk 700,000 square kilometers in the last 20 years. That’s about 420,000 square miles. Thanks primarily to the greening of the earth due to CO2. 10% of the earths surface that wasn’t green 20 years ago is green now. But our government considers CO2 to be a “pollutant”. What does our government have against plants?

In Muskegon, MI, they took down the Cobb coal fired plant in the last couple years. Its scrubbers took all the heavy metals and the toxic materials out and left mostly pure beautiful CO2.
Call me crazy, but I miss the plant and detest the ugly and intrusive wind towers further north in Ludington.
I always wondered why the gas that plants depend on to live, was considered bad. Boiled down to basic 4th grade science… sounds like a good thing to me.
In the physical world, men and women are the master (glory to God). Ever-advancing technology, life-saving medical treatments, limitless energy from atoms, the ability to destroy a nation and its people by pushing buttons. Yes, we are special and blessed. And now we are reaching for the stars.
But I always remind myself that in the spiritual realm we are not the masters, we are the prey. We have no power at all except what the Father and his precious son grant us.
Keep vigilant always.

Morinin WeeWeed. i can’t help but believe the real Nazis in this country are going suffer considerably come November 2nd this year.. If not, then we’re really going to be in a pickle.
The real Nazis will not suffer until we get rid of programmable voting machines. The democrats have been stealing elections in this country for years with Dominion and Smartmatic machines. No ballot should ever be run through a programmable machine. Most recently New Hampshire has found that all democrat candidates received an unaccounted for 300 votes. These machines allow the adding and subtracting of votes at will.

Even France is not allowing mail in ballots and programmable voting machines. These machines are banned in Ireland and the Netherlands.

So…a search for “in the beginning” leads to this wonderful study:
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Austin says (de Civitate Dei, lib. 10, cap. 29) that his friend Simplicius told him he had heard a Platonic philosopher say that these first verses of St. John’s gospel were worthy to be written in letters of gold. The learned Francis Junius, in the account he gives of his own life, tells how he was in his youth infected with loose notions in religion, and by the grace of God was wonderfully recovered by reading accidentally these verses in a bible which his father had designedly laid in his way. He says that he observed such a divinity in the argument, such an authority and majesty in the style, that his flesh trembled, and he was struck with such amazement that for a whole day he scarcely knew where he was or what he did; and thence he dates the beginning of his being religious. Let us enquire what there is in those strong lines. The evangelist here lays down the great truth he is to prove, that Jesus Christ is God, one with the Father.

INFERIOR MISGIVINGS ABOUT JESUS
“Sir, Thou hast nothing to draw with.” John vi. 11
“I am impressed with the wonder of what God says, but He cannot expect me really to live it out in the details of my life!” When it comes to facing Jesus Christ on His own merits, our attitude is one of pious superiority – Your ideals are high and they impress us, but in touch with actual things, it cannot be done. Each of us thinks about Jesus in this way in some particular. These misgivings about Jesus start from the amused questions put to us when we talk of our transactions with God – Where are you going to get your money from? How are you going to be looked after? Or they start from ourselves when we tell Jesus that our case is a bit too hard for Him. It is all very well to say “Trust in the Lord,” but a man must live, and Jesus has nothing to draw with – nothing whereby to give us these things. Beware of the pious fraud in you which says – I have no misgivings about Jesus, only about myself. None of us ever had misgivings about ourselves; we know exactly what we cannot do, but we do have misgivings about Jesus. We are rather hurt at the idea that He can do what we cannot.
My misgivings arise from the fact that I ransack my own person to find out how He will be able to do it. My questions spring from the depths of my own inferiority. If I detect these misgivings in myself, let me bring them to the light and confess them – “Lord, I have had misgivings about Thee, I have not believed in Thy wits apart from my own; I have not believed in Thine almighty power apart from my finite understanding of it.”

Scenes Beyond the Grave – Marietta Davis
Chapter XIV – The Form of the Savior in the Cloud of Night
14:1
Bewildered, and ready to abandon all hope of ever escaping that abode, I had determined in my mind that the sight was the last, which was to fill up the cup of woe, from which I had drank already to agony, and which to all eternity could not be drained, when lo! I saw the Savior extending His arms toward me, while from His lips in holy music fell the lovely and soul enrapturing sentence, “Come unto me all ye weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.”
How vast the contrast, when from the midst of the cloud, was revealed that glorious Being encompassed with the shining appearance of a sun. Inwrought into the revolving surface of the halo of light which encircled Him, and which moved with calm but rapid motion, I beheld a representation of the true relation between the Divine Redeemer and the universe of light, where holy angels dwell, and the awful disparity between my own nature and that sphere of light and life, harmony and love.
I thus beheld Him whom, in my madness, folly and skepticism I had so often rejected. At first I wished to break from the mental embodiment which was about my inner being, and mingle the very elements of my life with the sphere of light, and to dwell in its beauty, peace, and joy: but being unable to enter into its reality by reason of the diversity existing between its intrinsic exaltation and the impure elements of my fallen mind, a feeling of distrust and doubt again arose within me.

Emperor penguin chicks defended by an Adelie penguin.
The emperor chicks are making the long trek from where they were born and raised to the shore. Emperor penguins, the largest species of penguin move miles away from the shore to raise their chicks.
Adelie penguins are the most common in Antarctica. They group in colonies numbering in the 10s of 1000’s near the shore to have their eggs and raise their own chicks. They are less than half the size of adult Emperor penguins. But what they have is attitude.
I figure it must have been the mothering instinct that prompted that Adelie to protect those emperor chicks. Female penguins that have lost their chick for whatever reason will adopt or even try to steal another.
Florida and Home Owners Associations. There are over 51,000 HOAs in Florida. These Associations have near dictatorial powers. I can understand the need but human nature is what it is. Those that become members are often busybodies that having never had any real power before during their lives, get excessive in their demands and enforcement on the residents in the community.
I’ve run into the type times before. Rookie cops and MPs at least have the excuse of youth, but it seems to me that quite often the most oppressive HOA members are older women.
I’ve made it a personal rule that, no matter how much we may like a house, we will never ever ever move into a neighborhood with an HOA.
And yes, I know exactly the type of older woman you’re talking about…

The Holy Apostle and Martyr Aquila of the Seventy and his wife Priscilla were from Pontos and lived in Rome before settling in Corinth where they hosted the Holy Apostle Paul. They suffered martyrdom at Ephesus.
Saint Castor of Karden was a 5th century missionary among the Germanic tribes.
Saint Seraphim of Sofia (+ 1950) was born in Russia and was called to monastic life at a young age. During the early anti-Christian persecutions of the Bolsheviks, he was Consecrated a Bishop before leaving Russia as a refugee. He eventually reached Sofia, Bulgaria and shepherded the flock of Russian refugees there. He steadfastly defended the Church Calendar. Some of his writings, as well as his Life, are translated into English. The Orthodox Faithful of Bulgaria who do not belong to the State Church know him as a protector.
These Saints are among those honored today, February 13th, on the traditional Calendar of the Orthodox Christian Church and February 26th on the civil or commercial calendar.
