Comfort One Another

Increasing world tension and the present trend of events in the Middle East have always filled many with fear, and there are even sincere believers in Christ who fear that perhaps the “Great Tribulation” of prophecy, with all its horrors, is at hand.

It is true indeed that even Paul’s epistles warn this world of the judgment to come. “…The Day of the Lord”, he says, “so cometh as a thief in the night”.

“For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape” (IThess.5:2,3).

But before this time comes, the Lord will recall His ambassadors, as the apostle tells us in the following passage:

“For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
“Wherefore comfort one another with these words” (IThess.4:16-18).

This is the event with which “the dispensation of the grace of God” will be brought to a close. Then will follow “the day of His wrath”, but even as Paul goes on to tell about this in the passage which follows, he reassures the members of Christ’s Body that they will not be included amongst those to whom the Lord will come as “a thief in the night”.

“But ye brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light…God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us…Wherefore comfort yourselves together…” (IThess.5:4-11).

Civil War?
Yes, But Not What You Think!

Think about what is going on right now in some of our major cities with Black Lives Matter (BLM), Antifa, anarchists, communists and revolutionaries, and the Democrat Party. Who is fighting against whom? Be specific – who is fighting against whom and where is it happening?

These far left groups are fighting against – – – the Democrats in cities run by Democrats! These groups are accusing the city governments of systemic racism. They target the police, even though most already have a chief of police that is African American. The city mayor is a Democrat, the city council is controlled by Democrats, the city attorneys are Democrats, and often the governor is a Democrat.

The civil war is between the far left and the Democrat Party.

Democrat leaders don’t know what to do. If they take action to clamp down on the protests (riots), they will lose the support of many on the left. If they don’t clamp down, they will lose those Democrats worried about law and order. Plus, they are already losing blue collar Democrats.

President Trump already figured this out, which is why the Republican convention focused so much on law and order, jobs, and outreach to the African American community. Call after call on C-SPAN was from Democrats saying they were going to vote for Trump because of law and order. The Democrats are in a hole and it appears it’s quicksand. Anything they do will just get them in deeper.

I think the best thing for Conservatives to do is stay out of it! As Conservatives, any involvement we take will only give the media the opportunity to blame us for any violence. We do need to protect our own families and businesses if threatened by these groups, but we don’t need to go looking for trouble. The protests are now a mob and mob behavior is often irrational. Unless personally threatened, I say leave it to the Democrats to deal with it. The more they demonstrate their incompetence, the more people will turn to President Trump.

The Democrats created this crisis and it is there problem to solve. I question whether they are willing or able to, but that is their problem. They are trying to blame Trump, but it’s not sticking. NYC, Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, and Chicago can’t be explained away and blamed on Trump. The Democrats are starting to panic.

Watch Biden over the next couple of weeks. He is going to try blaming Trump for the violence, but I think it will backfire. Biden will be forced to take a position, and no matter what position he takes he will anger part of his party. I don’t think prerecorded statements will cut it. Biden is going to have to come out of the basement.

As Conservatives, what can we do? We can support the police. We can protect our families and businesses.

We can talk to our Democrat friends, family members, and neighbors about voting for Trump. I don’t think this will be a hard sell at all. I bet many pf them are disgusted with today’s Democrat Party and will be very receptive to voting for Trump. Every Democrat you can get to vote for Trump means 1 less for Biden and 1 more for Trump.

You can also talk to your buddies that never vote and get them registered and make sure they vote. This election is so important, even non-voters can be persuaded to vote for Trump.

Let the Democrats fight it out in the Democrat controlled cities instead of focusing on the election. Our fight is to win the election and take back the House and Senate. We have to get rid of Pelosi as Speaker. If we control the legislative and executive branches of government, President Trump can take the actions needed to get our cities under control.

Don’t get distracted by the Democrat civil war. Focus on the election and electing as many Republicans as possible. And start thinking locally. We need to take over school boards, town and city councils, mayorships, state offices, etc. We need to out-organize the left. We have the better message, we just have to sell it.

These sentences seem far too lenient.

DESTINY OF HOLINESS

Continually restate to yourself what the purpose of your life is. The destined end of man is not happiness, nor health, but holiness. Nowadays we have far too many affinities, we are dissipated with them; right, good, noble affinities which will yet have their fulfilment, but in the meantime God has to atrophy them. The one thing that matters is whether a man will accept the God Who will make him holy. At all cost a man must be rightly related to God.

Do I believe I need to be holy? Do I believe God can come into me and make me holy? If by your preaching you convince me that I am unholy, I resent your preaching. The preaching of the gospel awakens an intense resentment because it must reveal that I am unholy; but it also awakens an intense craving. God has one destined end for mankind, viz., holiness. His one aim is the production of saints. God is not an eternal blessing machine for men; He did not come to save men out of pity: He came to save men because He had created them to be holy. The Atonement means that God can put me back into perfect union with Himself, without a shadow between, through the Death of Jesus Christ.

Never tolerate through sympathy with yourself or with others any practice that is not in keeping with a holy God. Holiness means unsullied walking with the feet, unsullied talking with the tongue, unsullied thinking with the mind – every detail of the life under the scrutiny of God. Holiness is not only what God gives me, but what I manifest that God has given me.
