(NBC NY) —  You couldn’t miss it, the big Star of David hanging around Sarah Palin’s neck as she toured the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island on Wednesday.

NBC New York asked Palin about the significance just as she boarded her bus outside Fox Newschannel to head off to Boston.

“Today is the 44th anniversary of Jerusalem being reunited,” she said. “We want to call attention to that.”

The pendant is in every photo she took with fans and supporters and can be seen in every sound-bite captured by television crews.

Some analysts wondered if the possible Republican candidate for president was actually wearing the necklace to play to the hometown audience as she hop-scotched around New York on her national bus tour.

The reunification of Jerusalem under Israeli control followed the Six Day War in 1967.

The event has become a national holiday in Israel, observed this year on June 1 and is marked by state ceremonies, memorial services and parades.

The day is also observed globally in Jewish schools.

Palin stopped at the immigration museum on Ellis Island and saw Lady Liberty on the New York leg of her mysterious Northeast tour, which she launched Sunday on the back of a motorcycle in Washington.

The former Alaska governor and one-time vice presidential candidate reiterated Wednesday that the trip is “all about America’s history,” although it is believed by some to be an event designed to stir buzz about a possible 2012 presidential campaign.

So far she has visited the National Mall in Washington, Mount Vernon, Va., Fort McHenry in Maryland, Gettysburg in Pennsylvania and the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia. Palin was in Boston on Thursday.  (article)

A small footnote to this article…  Yesterday I wanted to write up a post about the same thing, Sarah Palin wearing a Star of David pendent and the significance of the day.  So, I started looking for AP photos of the NYC visit.  Strangely, well actually not strangely, more like ‘as expected’, the staff AP photographer following her used all kind of camera angles, objects, people, etc. etc. to block the view of the necklace.  The photographer actually had to go out of the way to place something else in the field of view.

I am only just recently becoming aware of the photo journalistic bias from the lefty photographers.  BigFurHat at iOTW and Doug Ross have been talking about it for quite a while and sharing examples.  They both have professional understanding of how it works and the subliminal messaging it sends.  Just an fyi…….. /SD
