Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen β

Is Sunday the Sabbath?
By Pastor Kevin Sadler
No, Sunday is not the Sabbath. The Sabbath was a distinctive part of Israelβs program that God gave the chosen nation at Mt. Sinai.
Neh. 9:13,14: βThou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments: And madest known unto them thy holy sabbathβ¦β
The Lord instituted the Sabbath as a gift for Israel. The word Sabbath means βrest.β God gave His people Israel a day of rest each week to rejuvenate their bodies and minds. It was to be a time of rest, feasting, and enjoying family. More importantly, He gave it in order to break the day-in, day-out cycle of life, so that Israel would not forget their God and would worship and give thanks to Him on that day.
According to Exodus 20:11, the Hebrews were to cease all work because the Creator βrestedβ after the sixth day of creation on βthe seventh day.β So Israel was to follow the Creatorβs example for their week, making the Sabbath a day to commemorate the Lordβs creation of the world and to celebrate His provision.
Ex. 31:16,17: βWherefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbathβ¦for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He rested.β
The Sabbath was a sign, a distinguishing mark, of Godβs chosen people. It was βa sign between [God] andβ¦Israel.β The Sabbath was for Israel, and it was given to Israel under the Law.
Today, we are not under the Law, we are under Grace (Rom. 6:14). We are not Israel; we are the Body of Christ (Eph. 1:22,23). The Sabbath is not to be observed under Grace. Paul gives no instruction for the Body of Christ to observe the Sabbath. Instead, he speaks of the Church gathering βupon the first day of the weekβ (I Cor. 16:2). Sunday is not the Sabbath and should never be called the Sabbath. Doing so confuses what βthe first day of the weekβ signifies under Grace, and what βthe seventh dayβ signified under the Law.
The Sabbath speaks of rest after work and relates to the Law and the work required by those under the Law in Law-keeping, with the works, observation of feasts, and sacrifices that Israel was commanded to do continually by faith. The Sabbath foreshadows the rest that Israel will enjoy in her end times, in her millennial rest within the earthly kingdom.
Sunday worship on the first day of the week speaks to a rest that takes place before work and relates to Grace and the rest we, the Body of Christ, have in Christ and His finished work right up front. Having trusted that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again (I Cor. 15:3,4), we are βcomplete in [Christ]β (Col. 2:10). Salvation is a βgiftβ that we receive the moment we believe; it is βnot of worksβ (Eph. 2:8,9). For most working people, our work week follows after the first day of the week. And under Grace, because we are saved, βworksβ follow after out of joy and gratitude for our accomplished salvation in Christ (Eph. 2:10).
The Sabbath commemorated the Lordβs creation of the world, while our Sunday worship commemorates the Lordβs resurrection each week, who rose again on βthe first day of the weekβ (Luke 24:1). Thus as we meet on Sundays each new week, we do so in worship of our living, risen Savior, and the newness of life we have in Him (Rom. 6:4).

Nehemiah 9:13 Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments: 14 And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant:
Exodus 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Exodus 31:16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. 17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Ephesians 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
1Corinthians 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Colossians 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Luke 24:1 ΒΆ Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Chuckle. You’re a hoot, Ad rem.
But seriously, thank you for everything you do.
Just because I tried out the “Underline” feature for the title?

Good thing I did not try to “BOLD” it!
Thanks. Now I can send the link to my friend Ella.

Ad Rem, just got back to CTH after being offline most of the day and it looks as if the margin clipping is fixed! I scanned a bunch of posts quickly and see no sign of it.
Many congratulations and thanks to the style sheet mavens! This is a huge win!

Have a blessed Sunday, Treepers. π
Opos. Trying again.
Beautiful! Loved hearing that while sipping my morning coffee.
A spotless Rose is blowing, sprung from a tender root, Of ancient seersβ foreshowing of Jesse promised fruit; Its fairest bud unfolds to light Amid the cold, cold winter; and in the dark midnight.
The Rose which I am singing, whereof Isaiah said, Is from its sweet root springing in Mary, purest Maid; For, through our Godβs great love and might, The blessed Babe she bare us in a cold, cold winterβs night.
This Flower, whose fragrance tender with sweetness fills the air, Dispels with glorious splendour the darkness everywhere; True Man, yet very God, From sin and death He saves us, and lightens every load.
O Jesus, by being born out of this vale of tears, Let Thy help guide us to the hall of joy In your fatherβs kingdom, As we praise You eternally; O God, give us that.
π
. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.
Prayer of Saint Ioannikios the Great (+ 846)

Close the door, put out the light.
No, they won’t be home tonight.
The snow falls hard and don’t you know?
The winds of Thor are blowing cold.
They’re wearing steel that’s bright and true.
They carry news that must get through.
They choose the path where no-one goes.
They hold no quarter.
They hold no quarter.
Walking side by side with death,

Uncomfortably close, I’d say.

WHAT TO PRAY FOR
“Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” Luke xviii. 1
You cannot intercede if you do not believe in the reality of the Redemption; you will turn intercession into futile sympathy with human begins which will only increase their submissive content to being out of touch with God. In intercession you bring the person, or the circumstance that impinges on you before God until you are moved by His attitude towards that person or circumstance. Intercession means filling up “that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ,” and that is why there are so few intercessors. Intercession is put on the line of – “Put yourself in his place.” Never! Try to put yourself in God’s place.
As a worker, be careful to keep pace with the communications of reality from God or you will be crushed. If you know too much, more than God has engineered for you to know, you cannot pray, the condition of the people is so crushing that you cannot get through to reality.
Our work lies in coming into definite contact with God about everything, and we shirk it by becoming active workers. We do the things that can be tabulated but we will not intercede. Intercession is the one thing that has no snares, because it keeps our relationship with God completely open.
The thing to watch in intercession is that no soul is patched up, a soul must get through into contact with the life of God. Think of the number of souls God has brought about our path and we have dropped them! When we pray on the ground of Redemption, God creates something He can create in no other way than through intercessory prayer.

Stevie I reread what you wrote many times before going to the sight. I could not understand what it was you were relaying.
I apologize if you take offense, it is not my intentions. What he is relaying is important and difficult in every way. To understand or relay. It is not for feint of heart, but it is our call. Iβm believing this is helpful. This new comment forum seems lacking. Just my opinion.
I believe Rider, that the message is mainly about interceding before God for souls. The admonition is that only thru God can this be done…rather than taking it upon ourselves to ‘fix’ things. God, and only God, can intervene in a person’s life! The less we know about the soul that God has put in front of us to pray for, the more leeway God has to move on that soul for spiritual benefit! ?
What a chuckle! Can you name them all?

The tradition in our house for St. Lucy Day is that because she is the Patron Saint of the blind, it is the day we begin turning on our Christmas lights every day. Our youngest daughter serves dessert to the rest of the family like St. Lucy brought food to persecuted Christians hiding in the catacombs. Then we go to drive through our local Lights on the Lake display and drive through neighborhoods looking at those displays as well. Our three daughters look forward to this tradition every year.
Good morning everyone – A friend shared this list, which I thought worthy of sharing again here for a hearty chuckle.
“1. The dumbest thing I ever bought was a 2020 planner. (And that is what volunteers received for Christmas last year- who knew?)
2. I was so bored I called Jake from State Farm just to talk to someone. He asked me what I was wearing.
3. 2019: Stay away from negative people.
2020: Stay away from positive people.
4. The world has turned upside down. Old folks are sneaking out of the house & their kids are yelling at them to stay indoors!
5. This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her dog. It was obvious she thought her dog understood her. I came into my house & told my cat. We laughed a lot.
6. Every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit. Pajamas will have you believe all is well in the kingdom.
7. Does anyone know if we can take showers yet or should we just keep washing our hands?
8. This virus has done what no woman has been able to do. Cancel sports, shut down all bars & keep men at home!
9. I never thought the comment, βI wouldnβt touch him/her with a 6-foot poleβ would become a national policy, but here we are!
10. I need to practice social-distancing from the refrigerator.
11. I hope the weather is good tomorrow for my trip to the Backyard. Iβm getting tired of the Living Room.
12. Appropriate analogy. “The curve is flattening so we can start lifting restrictions nowβ is like saying βThe parachute has slowed our rate of descent, so we can take it off now.β
13. Never in a million years could I have imagined I would go up to a bank teller wearing a mask & asking for money.
14. The spread of COVID-19 is based on 2 things:
a. How dense the population is.
b. How dense the population is.”
LOL
15. 40 ACP or 9mm?
?
Thank you
Ground Report from the one LION in COSTCO Yesterday:
I live in a town just outside of Tulsa lines where there is no mask requirement; however, in Tulsa, with the Rhino Mayor Bynum, there is one. I have had 3 instances where wearing a mask has made the room spin and almost fainted- so I don’t wear them- and haven’t ONE time in a store that says I have to. No problems but sometimes I must let them know I have a condition and they leave me alone.
Well yesterday, I was in COSTCO, where I have been a member since they opened years ago. About 5 minutes in to my perusing, a manager came and told me I had to wear a mask. I told him I had a condition but I would put one on over my mouth but not my nose under any circumstance. He offered me a face shield to which I declined. He told me I couldn’t shop there. I told him I wanted me full membership fee back as I would no longer be shopping there; to which he kindly agreed. He also took my objects out of my cart and put them away from me. About 5 people heard the conversation- which was very cordial. Most smiled and I assumed the person who complained to management was also watching. I walked to the front to get my money back. The woman who was processing it repeated ” We have face shields you know.” To which my response was, ” It is your right to deny me service, just like its my constitutional right to NOT wear a mask or shield as its EQUAL FREEDOMS! She agreed and happily processed my refund.
When I was walking out and putting my cart back, a woman took it saying she didn’t think I had COVID. She also was not wearing a mask- so I told her they refused me service and told her I chose to cancel my membership. She said “right on!”
As I was driving home I could do nothing but pray as tears ran down my face for the ones who are so deceived and blind to what’s going on; the ones who do not see truth. I’m in my early thirties and I have never realized how UNCOMMON standing up for what’s right, is. It’s a shame. It’s sad.
My father reminded me that Jesus came to this world to divide–> To divide light from dark and truth from lies, and so on.
It only takes a spark to start a wildfire. I pray I was a spark for any and all that heard yesterday to perhaps wake up.
Hold the line Patriots. He’s coming back soon. Share the gospel. Share the truth. Be the light even in the darkest hour.
Good for you. I am sure there were people watching that you have encouraged to go massless.
Well done!
Good for you!!

Reading 1 IS 61:1-2A, 10-11 from the Mass readings for 12/13/20
The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
because the LORD has anointed me;
he has sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor,
to heal the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives
and release to the prisoners,
to announce a year of favor from the LORD
and a day of vindication by our God.
I rejoice heartily in the LORD,
in my God is the joy of my soul;
for he has clothed me with a robe of salvation
and wrapped me in a mantle of justice,
like a bridegroom adorned with a diadem,
like a bride bedecked with her jewels.
As the earth brings forth its plants,
and a garden makes its growth spring up,
so will the Lord GOD make justice and praise
spring up before all the nations.
BEST rendition of this EVER.

lilbirdee12βs prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You. Also, we pray for Angels to protect and support our Sundance as he works for justice and peace.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
