Yes, I posted last night but after nearly 1000 posts it is worth posting again IMO. Another researcher on this subject found this newly published article that supports this front line researcher’s treatment experience. Basically the virus interferes with the oxygen and CO2 binding ability to hemoglobin, so that red blood cells themselves stop working. Not much that a ventilator will do if the blood does not work.

COVID-19: Attacks the 1-Beta Chain of Hemoglobin and Captures the Porphyrin to Inhibit Human Heme Metabolism
      Wenzhong Liu 1,2,*, Hualan Li2

The novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) is an infectious acute respiratory infection caused by the novel coronavirus. The virus is a positive-strand RNA virus with high homology to bat coronavirus. In this study, conserved domain analysis, homology modeling, and molecular docking were used to compare the biological roles of certain proteins of the novel coronavirus. The results showed the ORF8 and surface glycoprotein could bind to the porphyrin, respectively. At the same time, orf1ab, ORF10, and ORF3a proteins could coordinate attack the heme on the 1-beta chain of hemoglobin to dissociate the iron to form the porphyrin. The attack will cause less and less hemoglobin that can carry oxygen and carbon dioxide. The lung cells have extremely intense poisoning and inflammatory due to the inability to exchange carbon dioxide and oxygen frequently, which eventually results in ground-glass-like lung images. The mechanism also interfered with the normal heme anabolic pathway of the human body, is expected to result in human disease. According to the validation analysis of these finds, chloroquine could prevent orf1ab, ORF3a, and ORF10 to attack the heme to form the porphyrin, and inhibit the binding of ORF8 and surface glycoproteins to porphyrins to a certain extent, effectively relieve the symptoms of respiratory distress. Favipiravir could inhibit the envelope protein and ORF7a protein bind to porphyrin, prevent the virus from entering host cells, and catching free porphyrins. Because the novel coronavirus is dependent on porphyrins, it may originate from an ancient virus. Therefore, this research is of high value to contemporary biological experiments, disease prevention, and clinical treatment.

In other words, this is not your normal flu. This virus attacks the bloods ability to carry Oxygen and CO2.
Take Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) + aZithromycin (or ciprofloxacin) + zinc

For a replacement for HCQ influenza A and ebola (yes, that virus too) testing has shown over the counter supplements EGCg (green tea extract), or quercetin both work as zinc ionophores

Covid-19 had us all fooled, but now we might have finally found its secret.
                Apr 5 · 8 min read

In the last 3–5 days, a mountain of anecdotal evidence has come out of NYC, Italy, Spain, etc. about COVID-19 and characteristics of patients who get seriously ill. It’s not only piling up but now leading to a general field-level consensus backed up by a few previously little-known studies that we’ve had it all wrong the whole time. Well, a few had some things eerily correct (cough Trump cough), especially with Hydroxychloroquine with Azithromicin, but we’ll get to that in a minute.
There is no ‘pneumonia’ nor ARDS. At least not the ARDS with established treatment protocols and procedures we’re familiar with. Ventilators are not only the wrong solution, but high pressure intubation can actually wind up causing more damage than without, not to mention complications from tracheal scarring and ulcers given the duration of intubation often required… They may still have a use in the immediate future for patients too far to bring back with this newfound knowledge, but moving forward a new treatment protocol needs to be established so we stop treating patients for the wrong disease.
The past 48 hours or so have seen a huge revelation: COVID-19 causes prolonged and progressive hypoxia (starving your body of oxygen) by binding to the heme groups in hemoglobin in your red blood cells. People are simply desaturating (losing o2 in their blood), and that’s what eventually leads to organ failures that kill them, not any form of ARDS or pneumonia. All the damage to the lungs you see in CT scans are from the release of oxidative iron from the hemes, this overwhelms the natural defenses against pulmonary oxidative stress and causes that nice, always-bilateral ground glass opacity in the lungs. Patients returning for re-hospitalization days or weeks after recovery suffering from apparent delayed post-hypoxic leukoencephalopathy strengthen the notion COVID-19 patients are suffering from hypoxia despite no signs of respiratory ‘tire out’ or fatigue.
Here’s the breakdown of the whole process, including some ELI5-level cliff notes. Much has been simplified just to keep it digestible and layman-friendly.
Your red blood cells carry oxygen from your lungs to all your organs and the rest of your body. Red blood cells can do this thanks to hemoglobin, which is a protein consisting of four “hemes”. Hemes have a special kind of iron ion, which is normally quite toxic in its free form, locked away in its center with a porphyrin acting as it’s ‘container’. In this way, the iron ion can be ‘caged’ and carried around safely by the hemoglobin, but used to bind to oxygen when it gets to your lungs.
When the red blood cell gets to the alveoli, or the little sacs in your lungs where all the gas exchange happens, that special little iron ion can flip between FE2+ and FE3+ states with electron exchange and bond to some oxygen, then it goes off on its little merry way to deliver o2 elsewhere.
Here’s where COVID-19 comes in. Its glycoproteins bond to the heme, and in doing so that special and toxic oxidative iron ion is “disassociated” (released). It’s basically let out of the cage and now freely roaming around on its own. This is bad for two reasons:
                1) Without the iron ion, hemoglobin can no longer bind to oxygen. Once all the hemoglobin is impaired, the red blood cell is essentially turned into a Freightliner truck cab with no trailer and no ability to store its cargo.. it is useless and just running around with COVID-19 virus attached to its porphyrin. All these useless trucks running around not delivering oxygen is what starts to lead to desaturation, or watching the patient’s spo2 levels drop. It is INCORRECT to assume traditional ARDS and in doing so, you’re treating the WRONG DISEASE. Think of it a lot like carbon monoxide poisoning, in which CO is bound to the hemoglobin, making it unable to carry oxygen. In those cases, ventilators aren’t treating the root cause; the patient’s lungs aren’t ‘tiring out’, they’re pumping just fine. The red blood cells just can’t carry o2, end of story. Only in this case, unlike CO poisoning in which eventually the CO can break off, the affected hemoglobin is permanently stripped of its ability to carry o2 because it has lost its iron ion. The body compensates for this lack of o2 carrying capacity and deliveries by having your kidneys release hormones like erythropoietin, which tell your bone marrow factories to ramp up production on new red blood cells with freshly made and fully functioning hemoglobin. This is the reason you find elevated hemoglobin and decreased blood oxygen saturation as one of the 3 primary indicators of whether the shit is about to hit the fan for a particular patient or not.
                2) That little iron ion, along with millions of its friends released from other hemes, are now floating through your blood freely. As I mentioned before, this type of iron ion is highly reactive and causes oxidative damage. It turns out that this happens to a limited extent naturally in our bodies and we have cleanup & defense mechanisms to keep the balance. The lungs, in particular, have 3 primary defenses to maintain “iron homeostasis”, 2 of which are in the alveoli, those little sacs in your lungs we talked about earlier. The first of the two are little macrophages that roam around and scavenge up any free radicals like this oxidative iron. The second is a lining on the walls (called the epithelial surface) which has a thin layer of fluid packed with high levels of antioxidant molecules.. things like abscorbic acid (AKA Vitamin C) among others. Well, this is usually good enough for naturally occurring rogue iron ions but with COVID-19 running rampant your body is now basically like a progressive state letting out all the prisoners out of the prisons… it’s just too much iron and it begins to overwhelm your lungs’ countermeasures, and thus begins the process of pulmonary oxidative stress. This leads to damage and inflammation, which leads to all that nasty stuff and damage you see in CT scans of COVID-19 patient lungs. Ever noticed how it’s always bilateral? (both lungs at the same time) Pneumonia rarely ever does that, but COVID-19 does… EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
                — — — — — — — — — — — — –
Once your body is now running out of control, with all your oxygen trucks running around without any freight, and tons of this toxic form of iron floating around in your bloodstream, other defenses kick in. While your lungs are busy with all this oxidative stress they can’t handle, and your organs are being starved of o2 without their constant stream of deliveries from red blood cell’s hemoglobin, and your liver is attempting to do its best to remove the iron and store it in its ‘iron vault’. Only its getting overwhelmed too. It’s starved for oxygen and fighting a losing battle from all your hemoglobin letting its iron free, and starts crying out “help, I’m taking damage!” by releasing an enzyme called alanine aminotransferase (ALT). BOOM, there is your second of 3 primary indicators of whether the shit is about to hit the fan for a particular patient or not.
Eventually, if the patient’s immune system doesn’t fight off the virus in time before their blood oxygen saturation drops too low, ventilator or no ventilator, organs start shutting down. No fuel, no work. The only way to even try to keep them going is max oxygen, even a hyperbaric chamber if one is available on 100% oxygen at multiple atmospheres of pressure, just to give what’s left of their functioning hemoglobin a chance to carry enough o2 to the organs and keep them alive. Yeah we don’t have nearly enough of those chambers, so some fresh red blood cells with normal hemoglobin in the form of a transfusion will have to do.
The core point being, treating patients with the iron ions stripped from their hemoglobin (rendering it abnormally nonfunctional) with ventilator intubation is futile, unless you’re just hoping the patient’s immune system will work its magic in time. The root of the illness needs to be addressed.
Best case scenario? Treatment regimen early, before symptoms progress too far. Hydroxychloroquine (more on that in a minute, I promise) with Azithromicin has shown fantastic, albeit critics keep mentioning ‘anecdotal’ to describe the mountain, promise and I’ll explain why it does so well next. But forget straight-up plasma with antibodies, that might work early but if the patient is too far gone they’ll need more. They’ll need all the blood: antibodies and red blood cells. No help in sending over a detachment of ammunition to a soldier already unconscious and bleeding out on the battlefield, you need to send that ammo along with some hemoglobin-stimulant-magic so that he can wake up and fire those shots at the enemy.
                The story with Hydroxychloroquine
All that hilariously misguided and counterproductive criticism the media piled on chloroquine (purely for political reasons) as a viable treatment will now go down as the biggest Fake News blunder to rule them all. The media actively engaged their activism to fight ‘bad orange man’ at the cost of thousands of lives. Shame on them.
How does chloroquine work? Same way as it does for malaria. You see, malaria is this little parasite that enters the red blood cells and starts eating hemoglobin as its food source. The reason chloroquine works for malaria is the same reason it works for COVID-19 — while not fully understood, it is suspected to bind to DNA and interfere with the ability to work magic on hemoglobin. The same mechanism that stops malaria from getting its hands on hemoglobin and gobbling it up seems to do the same to COVID-19 (essentially little snippets of DNA in an envelope) from binding to it. On top of that, Hydroxychloroquine (an advanced descendant of regular old chloroquine) lowers the pH which can interfere with the replication of the virus. Again, while the full details are not known, the entire premise of this potentially ‘game changing’ treatment is to prevent hemoglobin from being interfered with, whether due to malaria or COVID-19.
No longer can the media and armchair pseudo-physicians sit in their little ivory towers, proclaiming “DUR so stoopid, malaria is bacteria, COVID-19 is virus, anti-bacteria drug no work on virus!”. They never got the memo that a drug doesn’t need to directly act on the pathogen to be effective. Sometimes it’s enough just to stop it from doing what it does to hemoglobin, regardless of the means it uses to do so.
Anyway, enough of the rant. What’s the end result here? First, the ventilator emergency needs to be re-examined. If you’re putting a patient on a ventilator because they’re going into a coma and need mechanical breathing to stay alive, okay we get it. Give ’em time for their immune systems to pull through. But if they’re conscious, alert, compliant — keep them on O2. Max it if you have to. If you HAVE to inevitably ventilate, do it at low pressure but max O2. Don’t tear up their lungs with max PEEP, you’re doing more harm to the patient because you’re treating the wrong disease.
Ideally, some form of treatment needs to happen to:
Inhibit viral growth and replication. Here plays CHQ+ZPAK+ZINC or other retroviral therapies being studies. Less virus, less hemoglobin losing its iron, less severity and damage.
Therapies used for anyone with abnormal hemoglobin or malfunctioning red blood cells. Blood transfusions. Whatever, I don’t know the full breadth and scope because I’m not a physician. But think along those lines, and treat the real disease. If you’re thinking about giving them plasma with antibodies, maybe if they’re already in bad shape think again and give them BLOOD with antibodies, or at least blood followed by plasma with antibodies.
Now that we know more about how this virus works and affects our bodies, a whole range of options should open up.
Don’t trust China. China is ASSHOE. (disclaimer: not talking about the people, just talking about the regime). They covered this up and have caused all kinds of death and carnage, both literal and economic. The ripples of this pandemic will be felt for decades.

If this is true then another dirt cheap drug methylene blue might be helpful too. Old school malaria tx prior to CQ.

Methylene Blue, a specific inhibitor of P.falciparum glutathione reductase has the potential to reverse CQ resistance and it prevents the polymerization of haem into haemozoin similar to 4-amino-quinoline antimalarials.

A dose of 36-72mg/kg over 3 days is the most effective schedule.15

Apart from the intrinsic antimalarial activity and CQ sensitizing action it was also considered to prevent methemoglobinemia- a serious complication of malarial anemia.16

But the only and very-obvious problem with these stories is that “well more than 90% of the patients recover.” If this permutation of a relatively-common corona virus had actually developed this destructive ability and could apply it consistently, then it would have made the Black Death seem puny. It would be worse, far worse, than Ebola.

But … very plainly, it is not.

Plenty of people who “test positive” for this virus do recover from it and their bodies therefore obviously have not been ravaged by something that wipes out their ability to process oxygen.

          Therefore: “Fake (Scientific) News!”

So I ask again and again…….

If the US has been given 35M tablets of hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine by just 3 Pharmaceuticals it means from THIS SUPPLY alone the US can treat 7M people.

        7M x 1 pill a day x 5 days = 35M pills

And if we have IN TOTAL 300,000 people infected today, why have we not moved forward and treated EVERYONE of these infected or positive COVID-19 patients who are capable of taking this cocktail?

At some point IMO this becomes criminal to deny or hold back this treatment that is approved by the FDA and where we have years and tons of data on it.

Don’t know if they are actually dead? Or this is a “pocket death count” to be used and applied where and when necessary? All just weird! But, that’s where we are, eh?

So the best thing you can do whenever you are with a doctor is to ask questions. IMO, the more the better as long as you are really listening and probing and not just talking to talk. If you ask no questions you get the standard treatment and the doctor will move on before you know it.

Yes. I believe our VSGPDJT is ‘using’ this crisis to uncover money laundering (send us all your ventilators then ‘we’ can distribute to the other states as needed), state medical insurance fraud (shut down hospitals except for Covid-19 patients and ‘desire’ a run of cases to get Uncle Sam’s sugar), fake news reporting (daring journalists to look into the semi’s full of bodies in Queens), etc.

How many people died in New York/Washington/New Jersey for those same years.
How many people died from the flu from those same years and states. They can lie about March of 2020 and going forward but the others are already locked in. As of today we’re comparing apples to oranges with everybody that died in these past 3 weeks is due to CV19.

    PDJT daily News Conference;
News Reporters (OAN) are finally asking for the models used by Dr. Fauci/Birx.

Immediately PDJT pointed to Dr. Fauci/Birx because he is using them to confirm that he saved millions of lives when he opens up the country between April 15 and no later than May 1.

IMO; Dr. Fauci/Birx are very nervous because their projections of 2 million and now 100,000 to 250,000 by April 15 are going to be extremely wrong. Their models and disclosures have been consistently wrong.

PDJT allowed Dr. Birx and Dr. Fauci to destroy themselves by making the President a hero, of saving millions of lives, using them to learn the incompetence of our medical experts and to open up the country NO later than May 1.

PDJT is hedging and watching the economy to make sure it can be recovered easily, while implementing his plan to Reverse the Nuclear Weapon of Fear/Anxiety (EXTREMELY POWERFUL), used by the globalist/press/left. PDJT had to be 100% sure that the Coronavirus was not going to kill millions of Americans and used this uncontrollable situation to gain many paths of leverage over the globalist/media/left.

PDJT has compared historical data to current data; models that have been materially inaccurate compared to actual, AND understand the motives of people who surround him.

PDJT allowed his enemies and people surrounding him, who have the complete opposite beliefs, in the direction of important issues and/or the direction of the country to adapt to his final decision, with patience that I still can’t comprehend. When those enemies reveal they are clearly working against the President and can’t adapt, PDJT will strike and destroy them, when the perfect timing is appropriate. Keep in mind there is also Politics involved in waiting for the right moment to destroy them.

Lateral Thinkers clearly sees/understands most of PDJT chess moves for the past 3-years.

Voluminous Mathematical analysis of every Coronavirus measurement used over the last several weeks; clearly proves and created a duty for PDJT to Open up the country.

PDJT not opening up the economy soon and creating an economic disaster (IMO no later than May 1st) would be a dereliction of his duty, almost equal to PDJT not implementing his 3-year Strategic plan to “EASILY” Prosecute the coup.

PDJT NOW HAS TWO SWORN DUTIES TO IMPLEMENT (Anything less would destroy the U.S.).
    1. Open up the Country before complete destruction of the U.S. economy based upon undisputable direct Evidence.
    2. PDJT “Acknowledgments” and the American people have seen the libraries of paper/digital trails of evidence and conflicting statements created over the last 3-years that show criminal acts way-beyond a reasonable doubt. PDJT has “Acknowledged” criminal acts for the past 3-years creating a sworn duty (guaranteed) to implement Justice.

The President also allowed many to stay on starting Nov 2016 for many reasons and because he needed to find all those involved in the coup, what they did and he definitely allowed themselves to be destroyed.

I have to trust that PDJT knows a lot more about what to believe than I do. That is why I will support him until he contradicts his own common sense, which it hasn’t appeared to me that he has done.

If PDJT is concerned about winning in November, even if he makes serious mistakes while trying to do what is best for our Country, he can count on my vote. The war we are waging is against Collectivism and those advocates want to destroy the only legitimate political experiment in human history that is predicated upon the basic God given rights we have as people because we are living beings. No Collectivist in the last 244 years has ever given much of a damn about that idea, so I am voting for PDJT this fall, almost no matter what.

      Dear Mr President,
I firmly believe that, even with my admittedly limited exposure to the facts, it is time to start sending everyone back to their jobs. At least 6,000,000 people have already lost their jobs and that has to be included in any cost/benefit analysis of our situation. As usual, it is mostly the people who need their incomes from their jobs who have lost their jobs. My opinion is this can’t be allowed to continue.

Collectivism supports China’s communist plans of world dominance, globalism and the sale of Assets (Hillary’s Uranium One, Jobs, unfair trade) of the United States by Rinos, Chamber of Commerce, Business round table, Wall street and of course the radical left/media. All these betrayals to the Constitution and the American People are clearly for “MORE” power/money for a few.

What had allowed this to all happen and for this Legal Civil War to continue (Mueller Investigation, Impeachment and the Coronavirus) is the alleged criminal acts by the FBI/DOJ the top law enforcement agency in the world, allowed the destruction of the Rule of Law the shield that protect the Constitution and Individuals (American People) by allegedly framing the PDJT of criminal acts that they actually did, and not following normal Investigative/Prosecutorial policies and procedures for Hillary email, the alleged communicator to the Clinton Foundation, and alleged pay to play operation that appears to be a subsidiary of the Largest Criminal Enterprise in the United States History, Globalism.

The globalist will never stop and will continue even if they have to wait 5-years when PDJT leaves office.

The Coronavirus again repeatedly proves/confirms that MAGA can easily be reverse when PDJT leaves office.

Globalist/coup fear Equal Justice, not MAGA.

Justice and the Rule of Law will protect the Constitution and the American People and would destroy the Globalist.

        P/T will implement Justice.

I agree. But if this economy cannot re-hire the employees that have lost their jobs because of Government policy decisions, the real battle for our Independence may well start playing out by mid November. That would give us only 7 more months before the Collective restarts the war, with the very active alliance of the Global Cabal of Monopolists, who will always try to position themselves on the side of the victors. I see things getting much crazier than they are now by this time next year, in any event. A failing economy could make PJDT a one term President. Take it to the bank, Joe Biden will not be the Democrap candidate.

It’s not the common guy on the street you need to consider when looking at Democrat Logic. Be as glib as you want about “logic” that is not the same as the “logic” i a court room.

Attempting to cause damage to the President via investigations, shaming or impeachment has failed and will always miserably fail. The recent impeachment debacle and now on-going virus response hoax are evidence of that point. That is not the objective.

What you need to be concerned about are Judges who will ALWAYS bias any decision towards the legal team that includes a healthy dose of statistically supported “protecting minority voting rights” arguments (irregardless of the quality of the statistics). The focus is on either suing states to implement “mail-in and digital voting” or defend states that do implement it. This is a proven fact and the democrats already conducted a successful experiment in November 2018.

That’s true only if the Federal Courts are engaged. Voting process is a State Level responsibility so democrats could seek to confine this to State Supreme Courts, which is a different kettle of fish all together.

Plus in the USSC one would be facing the double wammy of “minority voter rights” and “States Rights” under the constitution.

COVID-19, heart attacks, cancer, auto deaths, pneumonia, shooting deaths

I really believe if people saw comparative deaths from other means it would help put all of this in perspective.

You almost have to admire the brilliance and beauty of this deep state scheme. It appears to be absolutely perfect, unassailable from any angle.

Using nebulous fear-based “scientific” models of a virus for which the only serious comparative study has shown to be fairly similar to most existing viruses, they are bringing down the largest economy in the history of the world without firing a shot and all within a two-month trajectory.

Every possible point of challenge to their plot is either preemptively and inherently neutralized by the nature of the plot itself, or promises a potential risk far beyond the fortitude or capabilities of any politician or leadership figure in America.

That is, any plan to confront the fear or short-circuit the economic shutdown results in being labeled a denier and a danger to the public welfare and to be held responsible for death.

This is basically weaponized climate change as a vehicle for social transformation.

Imagine this: 50% of American small businesses wiped out in 3-6 months. 50-100 million unemployed and with no prospects for re-employment. Lines and rationing everywhere. Freedom of mobility and consumption restricted and managed by local and state government rationing standards. Health test certificates to be shown checkpoints. Church services shut down. No public gatherings of any kind. No more amusement parks, beach trips, movie theaters, county fairs. People put on guard as to their fellow citizens not only as physical health threats but as competitors for rationed supplies.

He offers data to show that China and South Korea had already reached their peak number of cases when they instituted their containment measures. In other words, nature had already achieved, or nearly achieved, herd immunity.

Very interesting must watch. Brief overview in my words, though he explains it so well:

World renown epidemiologist says what we are doing with social distancing & particularly keeping kids home from school is all wrong (though the elderly need to be isolated). Kids help spread the disease (while either not getting it or getting mild symptoms) and help develop the herd immunity needed (at 80% of population) so virus will naturally die. What we are doing is prolonging the disease with social distancing, thereby keeping us from obtaining the 80% herd immunity needed and thus guaranteeing another round of this in the fall/winter.

The NYT and Washington Post both have major front page stories today, coordinated to launch a new media narrative: don’t believe the official Coronavirus death numbers. They’re too low (which could help Trump).

Besides the disgusting non-stop fear generating, and obvious political agenda, they’re up to their usual tricks of moving goal posts; swapping in new “experts” and “scholars” to push the current narrative, and casually report what they’re going to do to make that narrative come true.

The “new guidance” issued by the CDC is designed to drive the numbers in one direction: up.

Official Counts Understate the U.S. Coronavirus Death Toll

“More than 9,400 people with the coronavirus have been reported to have died in this country as of this weekend, but hospital officials, doctors, public health experts and medical examiners say that official counts have failed to capture the true number of Americans dying in this pandemic. The undercount is a result of inconsistent protocols, limited resources and a patchwork of decision-making from one state or county to the next.”

“We definitely think there are deaths that we have not accounted for,” said Jennifer Nuzzo, a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Health Security, which studies global health threats and is closely tracking the Coronavirus pandemic.

Late last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued new guidance for how to certify coronavirus deaths, underscoring the need for uniformity and reinforcing the sense by health care workers and others that deaths have not been consistently tracked. In its guidance, the C.D.C. instructed officials to report deaths where the patient has tested positive or, in an absence of testing, “if the circumstances are compelling within a reasonable degree of certainty.”

    From WAPO:

Coronavirus death toll: Americans are almost certainly dying of covid-19 but being left out of the official count

“The fast-spreading novel coronavirus is almost certainly killing Americans who are not included in the nation’s growing death toll, according to public health experts and government officials involved in the tally.”

The federal government’s death count is broadcast around the world daily as an indicator of how quickly the virus is spreading and how profoundly the nation is struggling. It has clear political implications for President Trump, whose approval ratings rose in late March despite his having downplayed the virus’s dangers for weeks.

Marc Lipsitch, a professor of epidemiology at Harvard, said there are probably some people dying with covid-19 who are not dying of covid-19. Such misattribution is a problem for any cause of death, he said, but it is a minor issue that is “swamped by the opposite problem: deaths that are caused by covid but never attributed, so the death count is underestimated.”

A Suffolk County nursing home operator, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect the company’s reputation, said some residents are sick with respiratory symptoms, and some have died, but virtually no one is being tested, dead or alive. The exception is when residents are taken to hospitals, the operator said.

Sally Aiken, the president of the National Association of Medical Examiners, wrote in a news release that “the public, in general, does not understand that there is not a uniform death investigation system in the United States. . . . So, a uniform response to COVID-19 by Medical Examiners will not occur.”

“We’re assuming that everyone is positive,” the operator said. “To utilize a test on the deceased, it’s not going to be very helpful. Because at the end of the day, there’s a shortage of tests to begin with. We don’t have tests. We don’t have swabs.”

Postmortem tests for covid-19 are happening unevenly across the country, experts said. Medical examiners, coroners and health-care providers should “use their judgment” to decide whether such testing is appropriate, according to CDC guidelines.

    • Mike Robinson says:

      Fake News!™

Actually, the opposite is true. CDC guidelines instruct doctors to include “COVID-19” as one of the “causes” of death if there is any “presumptive evidence.” (Which could be interpreted to be “any shortness of breath.”)

NYT is obviously trying to fan the flames of continued public paranoia in the face of what is very quickly becoming an obvious fact: that this virus, although it is potentially lethal as any virus might certainly be, represents far less of an existential health-threat than any virus … or, car accidents.

“We need you to continue to be afraid of the booger-man.” We need for you to stare up at the sky and wait for it to fall.

80 to 90% of those who go on ventilators DIE. The goal is to keep people OUT of ventilators by treating them EARLY — at first symptom or positive test — with HCQ or antibody donor blood or whatever. Don’t withhold treatment until the patient is on his last legs and has to go to crowded hospital.

“…Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) complained on “Fox News Sunday” that President Donald Trump not having a national strategy on the coronavirus pandemic would cause more people to die.
Whitmer said, “I’m grateful for the help that we’ve gotten. Three hundred ventilators will save 300 lives, maybe 600, if we can use one vent for two people like doctors, are working on here in Michigan. ….”
