Donald Trump Remarks on Cyber Security to American Warriors PAC – Video and Transcript…

Earlier today candidate Donald Trump spoke to veterans and military service members at a retired American Warriors PAC event in Herndon, Virginia.   Candidate Donald Trump delivered some prepared remarks before a question-and-answer session:

[ Transcript ] It is a privilege to be here this morning with so many distinguished members of our armed services.

Before we get started with our Q & A, I’d like to address one of the most important aspects of America’s national security, and that’s cybersecurity.

To truly make America safe, we must make cybersecurity a major priority for both the government and the private sector.

Cyber theft is the fastest growing crime in the United States.

As President, improving cybersecurity will be an immediate and top priority for my Administration.

U.S. Republican presidential candidate Trump hugs a U.S. flag as he takes the stage for a campaign town hall meeting in DerryOne of the very first things I will do is to order a thorough review of our cyber defenses and weaknesses, including all vital infrastructure.

Cyber-attacks from foreign governments, especially China, Russia, and North Korea along with non-state terrorist actors and organized criminal groups, constitute one of our most critical national security concerns.

Hillary Clinton’s only experience in cybersecurity involves her criminal scheme to violate federal law, engineering a massive cover-up, and putting the entire nation in harm’s way. The fact that a former Senator and Secretary of State claimed not to know what the letter “C” means is just one more example of why she’s unfit to hold public office.

The scope of our cybersecurity problem is enormous. Our government, our businesses, our trade secrets, and our citizens’ most sensitive information are all facing constant cyber attacks.
Just consider some of these recent hacks:

JP Morgan Chase had 73 million emails stolen.

E-Bay was invaded and gave up 150 million passwords.

Target was attacked and gave up 40 million credit card numbers.

Attacks like these are happening on a regular basis both in the United States and around the world, and the costs in our privacy, our security and on our financial sector are extraordinary.

Identify theft, financial laundering, as well as ransom ware – involving the extortion of a hacked institution – are all becoming increasingly common.

Incredibly, hackers were able to obtain at least 20 million identities of people who underwent FBI background investigations.

The information hacked contains facts discovered by the FBI in doing background checks for people seeking positions with the Federal Government. It is a treasure trove which can be easily used for blackmail.

The fact that this highly classified information was so poorly protected demonstrates that cybersecurity is just one more area where the Obama Administration has failed.

We should not let this be like the history of the Mafia which was allowed to grow into a nation-wide organization which infiltrated and corrupted so many areas of society for such a long time.

We can learn from this history that when the Department of Justice, the FBI, the DEA and state and local police and prosecutors were combined in Task Forces directed at the Mafia, they were able to have great success in prosecuting them, seizing their business interests and removing their infiltration from legitimate areas of society.

As President, I will instruct the Department of Justice to create Joint Task Forces throughout the United States to work together with Federal, State, and local law enforcement authorities and international law enforcement to crush this still-developing area of crime.

I will make certain that our military is the best in the world in both cyber offense and defense. I will also ask my Secretary of Defense and Joint Chiefs to present recommendations for strengthening and augmenting our Cyber Command.

As a deterrent against attacks on our critical resources, the United States must possess the unquestioned capacity to launch crippling cyber counter-attacks. This is the warfare of the future, America’s dominance in this arena must be unquestioned.

Cybersecurity is not only a question of developing defensive technologies but offensive technologies as well.

For non-state terror actors, the United States must develop the ability – no matter how difficult – to track down and incapacitate those responsible. We should turn cyber warfare into one of our greatest weapons against the terrorists.

To enhance the defense of the other agencies of government, including our law enforcement agencies, we will put together a team of the best military, civilian and private sector cybersecurity experts to comprehensively review all of our cybersecurity systems and technology.

The Cyber Review Team will proceed with the most sensitive systems first, but ultimately all systems will be analyzed and made as secure as modern technology permits.

I will also require that follow-up reviews take place on a regular basis determined by the sensitive nature of the security involved.

The review will include providing exact recommendations for the best combination of defensive technologies tailored to specific agencies.

This will include the various methods of internal monitoring, attack and penetration, investigation of suspected hackers or rogue employees, and identity protection for government employees.

The review team will also remain current on the constantly-evolving new methods of attack, and will attempt to anticipate them and develop defenses as often as possible before major breaches occur.

This group of experts will set up protocols for each agency and government officials, requiring them to follow best practices.

They will also establish a training program for all government employees to make certain they understand what defenses are available and utilize them, along with a continuing education program so everyone is aware of the newest methods of both attack and defense.

Those who violate classification rules will be held responsible to the fullest extent of the law. I will appoint an Attorney General who will reform the Department of Justice like it was necessary after Watergate. My Attorney General will restore the integrity of the Department of Justice.

Today is just the beginning of a long and overdue national discussion of how to protect ourselves from modern cyber-crime and evolving national security threats, and how to develop the cyber offense strategies necessary to gain a critical security edge in the 21st century.

Thank you again for being here, and now let’s begin our discussion. (link)

This is a great example of how Trump baits his critics and forces people to understand what actually happened. He tells the story a little off. The critics howl, and the future supporters do the necessary work to understand.

But even better, as people dig into the issue, they realize the skulduggery that was involved here – the degree to which Hillary Clinton and Cheryl Mills abused IT.

Platte River had to keep everything on the down low, and using open source software and crowd-sourced advice allowed the small circle of conspirators to avoid involving too many people, and especially responsible professionals, in the dirty operations. THIS is one of the common failings of Clinton schemes – they avoid pros for a lot of things where that’s not a good idea.

Consider the alternative – reaching out to real professionals and experts who wouldn’t just say “OMG, there’s some shady sh!t going on here!” – they might remember things from ethics training, call a friend in LE, go to the FBI, etc. CAN’T HAVE THAT.

In other words, this is dark side of what is called “shadow IT” – stuff that’s not done openly, with full management approval and knowledge. Shadow IT can sometimes be a good thing, but it can also be abused. A lot of the time, it’s used to cook the books in some way.

I was embarrassed reading this exchange because of the absolute ridiculousness of it. You better not be a dude acting like that. Plus, he was right, it isn’t acid washing. No, I’m not IT and I still understood.

Think what you like. I don’t have time for tone. People get pretty rough with me, too, and I just buck up and take a lesson. And sometimes they’re pretty good lessons. Here is yours. Actually the IT guys at reddit the Donald thought Trump was brilliant for phrasing it that way. For the normies it was a phrase that would stick in their minds plus it was bait for the MSM to pounce on the story to correct him which meant they had to cover the story they would otherwise have ignored. Reading Trumps book Art of the Deal helps with understanding what he’s doing. He truly is brilliant.

He’s hands on , where most in his social sphere are generations from it. Trump also had a gift for empathy for others …that’s how he got into this lol! The thing for me is that ANY tool used to beat forensics is a core defensive weapon in cybersecurity, so obviously this matters. And more than that, Hillary has almost broken new ground in terms of cybersecurity offense, by raising “social engineering” to “legal engineering”. We were really blindsided by this. What she and her co-conspirators (including Obama and Loretta) did, was to basically do a long-term massive exfiltration, creating multiple new avenues of attack, and then cover themselves with a combination of legal maneuvering and anti-forensic technologies.

This took YEARS of planning and adaptive defense to pull off. This is not amateurish – it’s highest-order state-level, including subverted parts of OUR state. If this isn’t a new level in cybersecurity, I don’t know what is. In fact, the MILITARY are precisely who need to be listening here. If, in fact, China (who has always backed the Clintons) or the UN or some shady global organization is the real nemesis here, then we need to be figuring out how to not only make this not happen again, but intervene on current similar attacks (the election and DHS seems like a real candidate), and how to create massive destructive countermeasures, so that the people behind this never try it again.

That’s the thing about Trump – he hangs onto common sense and never lets go. But there is so much more. And when you watch him working his magic – amazing. He gets people to come to him. It’s just magical. He doesn’t always use sugar – a lot of the time it’s bitter chocolate, tobacco, or even burning rubber. But he gets people to do what’s needed to understand, to make the deal, or to run away and let him win.

I do not know about how a more accurate description of the BlechBit process would affect his credibility but………………..

Unless there is more than one BleachBit product, I must say that Trump is definable over the top with his description of it – no surprise :D. Likely he has capitalized on the unusual and easy-to-remember name “BleachBit”.

Saying that Clinton deleted files would just draw big yawns. Saying they “bleached” it with expensive, rarely used clandestine software, sticks in minds 🙂

But to the point, normal deletions of files leaves them on the disk – they can be covered quite easily. BleachBit is designed to make the deletions permanent and irrecoverable.

Bleach bit is hardly expensive – it is free and open source software.

BTW I am a software engineer, I grin when he says this.

One of the things we love to say about open source software (YUGE fan here) is that it’s “free like a puppy”. Even if you do it yourself with FOSS (free open-source software), you are still looking at costs, risks, downsides and upsides. Nothing is free. Bottom line.

And OH MAN – Hillary’s little bleaching picnic has just gotten VERY, VERY expensive. Might cost 1 Comey, 1 Crooked Loretta, and maybe even a presidential election.

Trump has well thought out policies for handling all of the problems America is experiencing and for handling our corrupt government run amuk. Hillary has no policies. She is adopting some of Trump’s as her own talking points. The rest of her running her mouth consists of rumors and falsehoods. She has no attention of implementing anything good.

DJT has, and will continue to choose, the cream of the crop picked for every single area over which he will have command as CIC. I have no doubt saying “you’re fired” will remain in his vocabulary for anyone unable or unwilling to meet the high standards of the Trump Administration.
With the Hilary administration we will see the pay for play performers and a continuation of the current administration.
I believe even most of those who voted twice for what we currently have have had enough empty promises from the party of empty promises, big spending, and more government.

As for those who believed in hope and change I hope they realize they have nothing to lose and everything to gain in voting for Trump.

Mr. Trump has already called on Obama not to pardon Hillary and her co-conspirators. Let’s pray that Mr. Trump prosecutes the corrupt in Obama’s “Department of Just Us” and the other federal bureaucracies. However, I would bet my last dollar that prior to Mr. Trump being sworn in there will be some federal departments that will be trashed and computers wiped–leaving the federal properties to look like the White House after the Clintons ransacked it upon their departure.

Simple solution. He tells them after November 8th that any department that destroys evidence will be shut down completely. We will not tolerate any civil servant who is not willing to obey congressional oversight. No pensions, no benefits. Just like he needs to tell the country now, any voting shenanigans and we will go to court to verify every vote. No concessions like Romney. Any illegal immigrant voting will be immediately deported.

I believe Donald Trump is telling us that he will indict, convict and jail all those now responsible for “selling our country out”.

Many of the posters here do not believe this will ever happen and I don’t blame them.

On the other hand, we have never, ever had a Leader like Trump.

Someone who fought off 16 well financed opponents in the primary.

Remember last year at this time when the whole world was laughing at Donald Trump and us?

Now you can almost smell the fear in our opponents. See it in their eyes.

Now they know and truly believe what is in their future, and we know what is in ours.

The msm is all but dead, Hilary is sick and failing.

We are winning and winning big. We are almost to our goal.

Allen West was at this event, and he’s calling out CNN on their “reporting”…

Ok, I was there, front row, attending the Donald Trump event with an audience of retired military leaders. The group was comprised of men and women who have served our nation in combat duty from World War II to the present. The event was originally supposed to be closed to the media, but the decision was made to open it up to the media. And of course, the media did not disappoint by spinning something out of nothing as the video shows of Mr. Trump speaking…

I’m going to be straight-up about this, fellow watch-tower denizens. When the real fighting gets here, some of these folks aren’t going to make it. There will be dhimmitude, Cheeto-face, soccer balls and groveling before the altars of Media Virtues. Gnashing and wailing of teeth. Low T raised to an art form. Self-flagellation with every barb in Bluto’s list. Screaming that Trump’s new black is beyond the pale.

Don’t be afraid to get rough, even with each other, to keep each other awake and on post. The trolls will try to wedge in between the dhimmis and the core. Forget the dhimmis – toss ’em overboard if need be. Defend Trump and the Treehouse to your dying breath.

I loved it that Mr.Trump mentioned the importance of Cybersecurity yesterday morning.
It was perfectly timed, given the upcoming WikiLeaks announcement.

From the army of Chinese hackers who make daily attacks on our govt sites…to the massive Identity Theft that illegal immigrants & gangs engage in…Cybersecurity is an issue that affects us all.

It is long past time for our own country to get serious about this and devote the time & resources to stay ahead of Cyber Criminals.

I am a veteran and a VFW member and I have no problems with what Mr. Trump said today about PTSD. First soldiers have been coming back from wars for hundreds of year. They don’t want to be coddled, they just want to move back into civilian life and have an opportunity to raise a family. Veterans are not walking the time bombs we see in PSA TV ads. Those that are having a little more problems than others can be helped. The best way to help is with a job and loving family. Remember veterans want to be appreciated for their service. If you have a problem with a military action take it up with the politicians and generals, not the soldiers. The troops and veterans love Mr. Trump.
