PPP Poll Georgia: Donald Trump 49%, Hillary Clinton 40% (Head to Head)….

Public Policy Polling (PPP) conducted a poll of Georgia voters (full pdf below) to estimate the possibility of a state balance shift.  Unfortunately for the Clinton narrative the results show Donald Trump beating Hillary Clinton by 9 points (49/40).

The poll framework wasn’t helpful for Bernie Sanders either.  Trump beats Sanders by 8 points (48-40).

2 candidate trump vs clinton - PPP Georgia

In a three person race:

Donald Trump 45% – Hillary Clinton 38% – Gary Johnson 6%

PPP conducted the poll in Georgia because the DNC electoral strategy against Trump is weighing the possibility of losing some Mid-West states (blue states turn red: PA, OH, WI, MI) and they were hoping for a narrative where high demographic minority voters could change red states to blue. Hence, Georgia.

In essence the thinking was/is: if Trump can take Pennsylvania, can Clinton offset by winning Georgia – via a high population of *black voters?  The answer, at least within this poll, is no.

[*note* 30% of the poll respondents were black, 62% white, 8% latino]

Interestingly this is the first PPP poll showing Bernie Sanders actually doing worse against Trump than Hillary Clinton; and this poll is racially centric.  It’s a small sample overall, and it’s only one state, but more minority voters support Trump when the alternative is Sanders.   This should be kept in mind because even Van Jones calls this the “Bling Effect”.

Bottom line:  Georgia remains solidly a red state with Donald Trump in the race; and Trump defeats either Democrat candidate regardless of who it is. This type of data and determination helps the DNC plan where to spend their resources.

The DNC will be expending considerable defensive resources in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin already because Trump is polling very strong in those previously uncontested blue states.

However, if polling in Oregon is accurate, and if Trump can pressure California, the DNC will have to go further and spend almost all of their time and money on defense; trying to retain states and not expanding them.

Look for PPP to focus attention toward FL and OH/PA next.

Public Policy Polling surveyed 724 registered voters from May 27th to 30th. The margin of error is +/3.6%. 80% of participants, selected through a list based sample, responded via the phone, while 20% of respondents who did not have landlines conducted the survey over the internet through an opt-in internet panel (link)

Doug Shoen, Andrew C. McCarthy and John Fund all are expecting Hillary to pull a real or fake health scare and subsequent drop out of the race.
McCarthy opines ”the later, the better.”
The ploy is based on the success of the Senator Robert Torricelli last minute replacement with Frank Lautenberg.
The Torch would have lost, but the Lautenberg won.
Much as I hate NRO the stories are there.

I agree with the post below written by Another Worried Mom. I’ve said essentially the same thing before,
and that is they will wait until after she has secured the nomination, so they can put Biden and Warren in. Rest assured, Trump will make a huge deal out of them not choosing Bernie, which of course will draw some of his voters to his side, while the majority stay home.

    • This makes sense. The Dem establishment doesn’t want Bernie. He’s uncontrollable. And, they’re starting to realize that Shrillary is un-electable. However, they will wait till Shrillary has stolen the nomination from Bernie and then allow her to withdraw due to health reasons (it’s either that or a RICO indictment). Since this will be after she secures the nomination and Bernie is out of the running, the Dem “nominating committee” will be free to select her replacement (it’s the rule!). They will select (obozo will nominate him) Biden, who will then choose either Warren or Duvall Patrick as VP. That will be the Dem ticket.

What the Dem establishment is counting on, though, is that the Bernie voters will automatically fall in line behind the new ticket. They will be so thrilled with the new ticket that they’ll disregard the fact that Bernie was shafted out of the nomination.

Yeah, I don’t thing so either. I’m thinking that the Bernie fans will vote for the Dem establishment candidate as willingly as the Trump fans voted for the Repub establishment candidate.

One thing is for sure, the Dem side is going to be interesting and nothing is off the table. The Dems are as corrupt as the summer day is long and nothing is beyond them to hold onto power.

I’ll have to stock up on various flavors of popcorn.

I think the moment of truth will be at the Dem convention. If HRC drops out due to “health reasons” and she does it at the convention, then her delegates become unbound and the floor is open to nominations. This gives the DNC a thin veneer of legitimacy when they then put Biden and Warren up as the new ticket. Of course, Bernie loses twice but who the hell cares! Except the Bernites will come back with a vengeance in 2020 and wreck havoc and take over the party (a repeat of 1968 and 1972). And even if they lose in a re-election landslide to DJT in 2020, they will be ready to march forth in 2024 with the new democratic SOCIALIST party. It will be a new re-alignment in American politics and will include bicoastal elites, intellectuals (of all stripes), the millennial crowd, government and teachers, the new immigrants and what’s left of the senile old hippie baby boomers. Trump and his successor will have the bulk of the working class and I think a strong number of African-Americans and multi-generations Hispanics and a majority of whites. The Republican party at the same time needs to be cleansed of all Vichy types, think-tank and effete elites and plain old globalist neo-cons.

I live in Harris county (Houston) and we only lost it to Oblow by less than 1000 votes in 2012….there were over 1 million votes cast on both sides. The GOP rebounded in state and local elections in 2014 and almost all county positions went to Repubs. I am comfortable in saying that the Monster vote is on our side this time and we should be able to carry Harris county for DJT. I can also say if DJT comes to Houston after he is nominated that he would be able to fill Reliant (NRG) stadium where the Houston Texans play…..60,000+ and still have people wanting to get in. The level of frustration with DC and the Obomanites is so high, that it only takes an introductory “what do you think of Trump?” to get people going (outside the lefty zones within the inner loop where you would also get an equal but opposite reaction!).

btw – I know several multi-generational Hispanics (called Tejanos) that are totally for DJT and are very conservative and all-American folks. Which goes to show that legal immigration has worked for this country, but it has to be controlled and assimilation needs to always be our policy, not Balkanization!

In the early 80s, I worked in a Castaic Junction garage with a couple of Mexicans. They invited me to spend Sunday with them in the orchard areas near Lake Piru. They said there was a little family get-together in the park with grub and stuff.

When I got there, there were at least 150 Mexicans of all ages wandering around with at least two dozen grills belching smoke. I was the only white boy there. They took me around through the crowd and introduced me to everyone. The intoxication level was medium, on its way to serious. Beer was everywhere and nobody seemed to care whose cooler they snatched the next beer from.

I asked them what the special occasion was. They laughed like I had told the funniest joke ever. “There’s nothing special; we do this every Sunday.” I asked if they were all related, to which they answered, “We’re all family but we’re not all related.

I spent every Sunday until the rainy season in that park. I never had to pay for anything but I had to put up with the jokes about being the token white boy. Good times, good times. And no Mexican flags.

Michigan was very ANTI NAFTA Back in the Perot days, THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of “Michiganders” demonstrated weekends at the State Capitol against Nafta and Perot was a HUGE favorite at the time. Both Dems and R’s were equally upset over Nafta, but mostly the Union folks.

I do not see any possibility that Hillary will carry MI. The only die hard Dems here are the “gimmes” and public union employees. Our GOP gov created right to work here, so they don’t have the public union money anymore.

I work in an insurance office and we have people of all backgrounds that come through our office. So far, only ONE die hard Hillary supporter couple (in their early 70’s) has come through here. Mostly everyone else likes Trump and gets more enthusiastic about supporting him once they see that I do, too. So there is a lot of unstated, quiet support for him here that will come out in the MONSTER vote. Mark my words.

My prediction: Trump by 5. It helps we don’t have a brain dead Dem Senator up for re-election this year. Those 2 losers are the only 2 state wide Dem elected officials we have left. Our State Legislature is very solid GOP. Our Congresscritters are a majority GOP.

Hillary will try to make a big deal over the Flint water issue, but only the die hard libs are overly excited about the Dem created crisis in Flint. Over here on the other side of the state, it is not on the radar.

Trump’s message with the lost jobs is very much resonating.

First, the sample is “Registered Voters.” This is great news for Trump. Clearly Trump voters in particular and Republican voters in general are much more energized this election season compared to 2008/2012 and Democrats are much less energized especially for Hillary.

Second, Trump still has a long way to go in consolidating the usually very reliable conservative voters. Both anecdotally and in the polls I see it. Many Cruz supporters are still too disappointed to vote Trump. Again, I see great news. People like Rush Limbaugh, Buck Sexton and many others are doing quite a nice job of persuading non-Trump conservatives to vote Trump. I’m not bitter about what they said or did in the primary. We need them now, and they are being very helpful. And yes, being a reluctant convert is a good thing. It is more authentic and more persuasive.

Third, Trump is just getting going on Hillary. Ted Cruz is a formidable politician. It took Trump 4 months to finally put him away. Likewise, Hillary is a formidable politician. The full effect of “Crooked Hillary” will take several months to materialize. It’ll be fun to watch.

Fourth, Trump’s Convention and VP pick will have a bigger impact on the race than anyone thinks. Trump has a knack for staging events and an acute sense of drama. It’ll be a sight to behold!

Quite a while back, in one of Sundance’s early posts, Mr. Trump was bestowed the moniker Magnificent Bastard (if memory serves me correctly.)

Yesterday’s presser brought that exact phrase back to mind for myself. The recall of that presser still has me grinning from ear-to-ear 🙂

Donald Trump held a press conference yesterday at his Trump tower, (incidentally Clinton hasn’t held one for over 140 days – surprising considering that she’s running for president). During the conference a marine veteran by the name of Alfred Baldasaro was introduced by Trump whereupon he took a few minutes to rip the mainstream media a new one over its coverage of veteran affairs and the presidential race.

But the real revelation for me was this 19 minute clip of him talking to the press outside after he had spoke in the conference. I was expecting to watch it for a couple of minutes – I watched through to the end. His passion and credibility and humbleness blew me away. And watch how he confronts and takes apart a Clinton stooge who has been manipulating veteran affairs for her campaign. The man preferred to flee rather than face this guy down.

These are the types of people, multiplied many times over across the USA, who are the reason Trump will win

Trump has very publicly rewarded Sean for not cowering and running back to the legion of liars, and let everyone else know how real, that real world reward is.

She’s tried to blend every different coloured stick of plasticine into one all powerful Hillary, and just become an ugly brownshirt/grey blob … that’s melting under sundance’s sunlight.

She loves a lie because she is a child of The Father of The Lie, The First Murderer.

  30. If the “indictment question” is a litmus test for her overall support (71% of Dems would still support her), she must be doing historically bad as far as party nominee. A poster above pointed out that Obama beat Romney with 92 percent of the Dem vote. The “E-mails” are not going away.

She has a serious amount of work to do in order to even sniff those kinds of numbers.

Other recent polls suggest she does even worse when Jill Stein and Gary Johnson are added into the mix:
    https://www.qu.edu/images/polling/us/us06012016_Ugb28vf.pdf
“When third party candidates are added to the mix, Clinton gets 40 percent with Trump at 38 percent, too close to call, the independent Quinnipiac University Poll finds.”

It occurred to me that what we might be seeing is Trump actually choosing the Dem nominee. If Trump wants it to be clinton, he hits her with lighter shots, keeping with the crooked hillary & the e-mail thing, thus keeping the poll numbers close, for now & keeping her viable. Then after the convention when clinton is the nominee & the Dems are committed, he brings out the big guns & finishes her off. If he doesn’t want her to be the nominee, he destroys her before the convention. My speculation being that he very well might have some major, fatal dirt on her that we don’t know about yet. (that being the only way she wouldn’t be the nominee in my view.) Trump has had a long time to plan this thing, & I would not put it past him to play it this way. Trump choosing his opponent. That’s pure Trump.
