Egypt and Libya are intrinsically connected by more than just a common border. Despite the ‘move along,…. move along,…. nothing to see here….’ attitude from the western lame stream media, there is serious trouble afoot. Serious trouble. The lefties who framed the original narrative would have you believe that a burgeoning democracy is being established; However, as previously outlined this is nothing but a complete smoke screen. Actually it’s worse than a smoke screen, it’s flat out false.
Let me give you two examples of how dangerous Egypt is becoming under the governance and approvals of the recently legalized Muslim Brotherhood. I doubt you will hear/see this in the New York Times or any media outlet. (World Threats)– The mass exodus of hundreds of prisoners held on terrorism-related charges continued this week in Egypt.

Mohammad al-Zawahiri, the brother of al-Qaeda’s second-in-command, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was released Thursday from Egyptian prison after more than ten years of incarceration. Extradited from the Yemen in 1999, he had been held on charges of conspiring against the government in relation to the assassination of former Egypt’s former President Anwar Sadat.
His release comes as the Interior Ministry continues to evacuate “political detainees” by direct order from the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces. Just days ago the cartaker-government released Tareq and Abbud al-Zomor, members of Egypt’s al-Jihad Islamic sect who were also held in relation to Sadat’s killing in 1981. They were let go as part of a 69-prisoner release being billed as a concession to rights activist. According to Interior Ministry statements, they, along with al-Zawahiri, will be subject to five years surveillance. (read more)
In related news, a UN report Thursday indicates the astonishing release of 950 former militants from the Gama’a al-Islamiyya terrorist group. While the Egyptian Interior Ministry has refused official comment on their cases, Montasser al-Zayyat, head of the Lawyers’ Syndicate Liberties Committee representing the freed militants said they have been gradually released over the past 11 days. These are not just your average bunch of locked up criminals. These are hard core jihadists. These are the guys who brutally asassinated Anwar Sadat, and attempted to asassinate Hosni Mubarak. These are the hard core terrorists within the origin of the Muslim Brotherhood. These are radical Islamists in every sense of the word. Ayman al-Zawahiri is al-Queda’s second bananna, what more could anyone need to know. These are not your average happy go lucky moderates. You know, the phantom moderates, the ones that media and CAIR claim are really just misunderstood good samaritan type loyalists. These are murderous radical islamic jihadists, vipers, and they have just been unleashed back onto the same streets previously bathed in blood from their brutality.
Now, how can anyone frame a probability, even a possibility, of moderate centrist democratic governance for Egypt amid the factual realization of the ideology being supported. Don’t look at the words, look at the actions. All the diplomacy in the world is not going to keep those murderous thugs off the street. Obviously, it didn’t; they’re out.
A month ago I shared at length the actual profile of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and the extent of their newly legalized influence. Additionally, the MB holds the strongest influence now over the military, and when the uprising in Libya began immediately the connection was evident between Egypt and Eastern Libya (Benghazi). Indeed three weeks ago, the Egyptian military began assisting the rebellion in Libya. Why? One only needs to look again at the Muslim Brotherhood and the newly advocated, self appointed leader, for the Libyan resistance Mustaffa Abdel-Jalil, another devoted Islamist.
However, the western media never discussed the Egyptian involvement, even though it was known thoughout the middle east and reported in many media outlets there. But wouldn’t you know, as soon as the United Nations adopted a “No Fly Zone” resolution (within an hour) the Western Media began reporting the Egyptian military assistance. Coincidence? Unfortunately not. It appears the Ghadaffi position was weaker without the public knowledge of who was helping the resistance. Think about it. If people knew that Ghadaffi was actually fighting another military, their narrative of poor disgruntled farmers in uprising would fall apart. So now that the United Nations has moved, the West will discuss the assistance of the Egyptians as if they are the heroic cavalry riding in to the rescue. An incredulously false narrative by itself. Here is the story reported today [Thursday]
CAIRO—Egypt’s military has begun shipping arms over the border to Libyan rebels with Washington’s knowledge, U.S. and Libyan rebel officials said. The shipments—mostly small arms such as assault rifles and ammunition—appear to be the first confirmed case of an outside government arming the rebel fighters. Those fighters have been losing ground for days in the face of a steady westward advance by forces loyal to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi.
The Egyptian shipments are the strongest indication to date that some Arab countries are heeding Western calls to take a lead in efforts to intervene on behalf of pro-democracy rebels in their fight against Mr. Gadhafi in Libya. Washington and other Western countries have long voiced frustration with Arab states’ unwillingness to help resolve crises in their own region, even as they criticized Western powers for attempting to do so.
The shipments also follow an unusually robust diplomatic response from Arab states. There have been rare public calls for foreign military intervention in an Arab country, including a vote by the 23-member Arab League last week urging the U.N. to impose a no-fly zone over Libya.
The vote provided critical political cover to Western powers wary of intervening militarily without a broad regional and international mandate. On Thursday evening, the U.N. Security Council voted on a resolution endorsing a no-fly zone in Libya and authorizing military action in support of the rebels. (more)
These things are certain:
- Egypt is becoming more of a radical Islamic State
- The Muslim Brotherhood is calling the shots in Egypt
- Egypt/Muslim Brotherhood/Egyptian Military has been supporting the uprising in Libya since it started.
- Egypt would prefer to see Ghadaffi fall and a more Islamist regime take his place.
Knowing this do you still want to see the United States intervene to assist? If so, how does it benefit our interests?
