You Might also remember President Obama Praising them: Seven years after then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld called the broadcaster’s reporting “vicious, inaccurate and inexcusable” and President George W. Bush joked about bombing it, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton praised it as “real news” in her recent Senate testimony. Not only that, her staffers, as well as those of the CIA and the Obama White House, were attending the Congressional Correspondents’ Dinner as Al-Jazeera’s guests.
“They are a really important media entity, and we have a really great relationship with them,” said Dana Shell Smith, the State Department’s deputy assistant secretary for international media engagement, who speaks Arabic and has frequently appeared on the channel. “This administration has empowered those of us who actually do the communicating to be in a close relationship with Al-Jazeera. They understand that the relationship can’t consist of complaining to each other about the differences we have.”
So how strange is it that an Official Security Report now shows Al Jazeera is connected to al-Qaeda terrorism. Reports show that U.S. officials suspected high-level cooperation between Al-Jazeera and al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations. The charges also raise serious questions about why officials of the Obama Administration are currently praising the channel and cooperating with it. (See Defense Dept. pdf Here)
The document says about Sami Muheidine Mohamed al-Haj, known as Sami al-Hajj and Prisoner 345, “His involvement as a money courier, involvement in the transfer of weapons and leadership position within the Muslim Brotherhood, along with his numerous connections made through Al-Jazeera and his pro-jihadist propaganda activities, illustrates his intelligence value.”
The detailed Department of Defense document, posted by WikiLeaks, is designated, “SECRET / / NOFORN / / 20330404DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE HEADQUARTERS, JOINT TASK FORCE GUANTANAMO U.S. NAVAL STATION, GUANTANAMO BAY, CUBA APO AE 09360”
Dated April 4, 2008, it recommends continued detention under Department of Defense control for the “Guantanamo Detainee” and is signed by U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Mark H. Buzby. Incredibly, however, al-Hajj was released only about a month later.
Hmmm, the administration praises Al-Jazeera, advocates for them, attends events with their leadership, openly supports them and considers them a vital relationship. All this while the intelligence community recognizes their people as closely connected to terrorism, terroristic activity, and radical extremist islamic elements including al-Qaeda. The defense department has evidence of their duplicity with terror networks, yet the White House Administration considers their relationship to Al-Jazeera “great”.
In Libya we (the WH administration) are supporting “Rebels” we don’t know, but have been identified by regional nations to be al-Qaeda and radical islamists. In Egypt we are advocating for Muslim Brotherhood, calling them “liberals” (a great lie) and turning a blind eye to the slaughter of Christians. In Syria we continue to whistle into the wind while accepting Assad’s actions to slaughter his people. In Iran we ignored the Green Movement as they were slaughtered in the streets trying to oppose Imadinnerjacket. In Israel we continue to diminish their security and safety along with questioning their sovereignty. And now we are supporting, and advocating for, a media outlet we know to be connected to terror attacks against our own people.
