In the olden days this would be akin to picking up a redacted Yellow Pages phone directory.
Comrades, the Ministry of Public Information, DuckDuckGo Division, is making modifications to the internet search engine results in order to protect us from dis-information, mis-information and mal-information. Wrongthinking perspectives will no longer be acceptable.

duck duck go is a very, very, poor facsimile of Google.
In fact, not even close.
Duck Duck Gone
Never used Duck Duck Go myself.
I dropped ddg for quant and dropped quant for brave.
So sick of the constantly escalating attempts to brainwash, when it’s obvious a certain large segment of humans are impenetrable despite all efforts across the last fifty or a hundred years.
I am enjoying the reverse-wash attempts over covid, though. If it actually works, we’ve got a chance at a future. If you can’t redpill ’em, at least deprogram ’em?
We are currently looking at Brave. Duck Duck has to go.
Duck Duck Go is now Duck Duck No.
or Duck Duck Gone!
I don’t know why I was even hopeful they would be different. Look who owns them. Every single time!!
This is funny…. I have been doing my “conservative news” search through duckduck this week and Liberty Daily was not coming up anywhere, figures, the jerks…
Wartime Is a Bad Time To Mess With the Internet
Like most people, we at EFF are horrified by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Also like most people, we are not experts on military strategy or international diplomacy. But we do have some expertise with the internet and civil liberties, which is why we are deeply concerned that governments around the world are pressuring internet companies to interfere with fundamental internet infrastructure. Tinkering with the internet as part of a political or military response is likely to backfire in multiple ways.
There is already heavy pressure on social media platforms. Russia is demanding that various companies from Facebook to Google and Netflix carry its state-sponsored content. The European Union, in an unprecedented move, has decided to prohibit the broadcasting and distribution of content by these outlets throughout the European Union, and Ukraine is asking the European Commission to do far more.
But now the government of Ukraine has called on ICANN to disconnect Russia from the internet by revoking its Top Level domain names, “.ru”, “.рф” and “.su” from the root zone, in an attempt to make access to Russian websites and email difficult for people outside as well as inside of Russia. Ukraine also reached out to RIPE, one of the five Regional Registries for Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia, asking the organization to revoke IP address delegation to Russia.
As a practical matter, some of these calls are essentially impossible; ICANN can’t just press a button and boot a country offline; RIPE can’t just revoke IP addresses. But those are not the only problems: remaking fundamental internet infrastructure protocols is likely to lead to a host of dangerous and long-lasting consequences.
Here are a few:

Do Read The Whole Thing
It was just a question of time of course ….
Time to change to a new search engine.
Google just ate duckduckgo.
It is now totally leftist.
Believe this has to do with ESG…
“Definition and meaning ESG stands for E nvironmental S ocial and G overnance, and refers to the three key factors when measuring the sustainability and ethical impact of an investment in a business or company. Most socially responsible investors check companies out using ESG criteria to screen investments.”
DDG, looking out for their pocket book first, First Amendment be damned.
A Treeper in an earlier post suggested Swisscows for a search engine. Well, downloaded the app and typed in the exact address for a conservative site and it wouldn’t even take me there! All it would list on the first few pages were links to pages that decried the searched site as “right-wing extremism”. So much for Swisscows.
Many Blacklisted Internet Search can be found here.

Brave is a nearly drop-in replacement for Duck.
The good news is micro Search Engines are now popping up like garage rockbands. Refine it with no tracking and other desired effects and et viola who cares about Duck. UCMDUCK? INOCMDUCK
A few search engines I experimenting with.. pastebin . com / 6c9tMJhh
PATCHES FOR DUCK DUCK GO SEARCH ENGINE V86.69
Not new news. I discovered six months ago that they were “cancelling” certain supplier of vintage gun parts.
i switched then to Brave, and sometimes use Startpage as a backup.
Just dropped Quack Quack as well. The CEO should be fired for this boneheaded move.
Note that as of a couple years ago at least DDG mainly relies on Bing for the indexing but just modifies ranking
https://reclaimthenet.org/brave-search-presearch-not-censor/
Some other alternatives: Brave Search and Presearch
https://search.brave.com/
https://presearch.org/
Brendan Eich of Brave has a pretty distinguished career and hey, when the co-founder of Mozilla (and creator of Javascript) gets pushed out of his own company for holding views on traditional marriage and retweets/responds to Zerohedge, you can probably count on the dude keeping his word on holding the line against censorship.
Here’s an interesting interview a bit over a year ago:
Few CEOs maintain their technical chops when they get to that level (if they had any to begin with and weren’t MBAs hired by a board)
Presearch is newer and so far from some quick tests, less mature than Brave at least for their own index, or the “Presearch provider”. Maybe they hope to grow their indexing faster by incentivizing people participate running nodes with crypto
Thanks for the information. I didn’t know he had moved on to something else.
I remember quite vividly when he was pushed out of the company he founded (Mozilla) because he donated to a politician who supported traditional marriage four years previous. I stopped using Firefox immediately.
I just installed the Brave search engine in Chrome and Firefox… works fine.
Also, run Tor, with Brave too.
Yep, read about this yesterday….and dumped DuckDuckGo. Alternatives are ones like Brave, Ecosia, and, amusingly, Yandex, which is a very good browser, Russian, and still on the Apple Store. Go figure.
They will protect you from the truth for their own self enrichment and to advance the agenda. They want you to stay home and do nothing.
This always happens, the corruption, blackmail and coercion are exorbitant.
Already switched to Startpage and will try Brave.
I tried the Brave browser and just didn’t like it. Unfortunately, to get the search engine, you need the browser. That makes it bloatware for me. Most of the other search engines use Bing or Google in the background to do their searches so I don’t want them. Time to do some more research before I jump into something. In the meantime, I’ll be as skeptical as ever and not depend on search results to be straightforward.
I didn’t like the “wallet” or the “rewards” feature in Brave and there was no way to “Opt” out. I uninstalled the whole thing. Will look elsewhere.
Interesting… I just turned those things off. No worries.
Brave isnt nearly as ‘good’ of a search engine yet, but it’ll get there and has my support. no duck or joogle or bing etc for me; I can live with a bit of inconvenience to support Brave.
DuckDuckGo used to be my go-to search engine. Not anymore.
That’s the same excuse they used to hide “inconvenient” COVID information from us. Goodbye Duck Duck Go.
Who the hell decides what is disinformation and what isn’t.
This is as ridiculous as pharmacies and doctors controlling our lives by refusing to prescribe medicines for covid that work as well as also keeping you prisoner by refusing to refill general blood pressure prescriptions just because I am moving and if you haven’t dotted all the “i’s” and crossed all the “t’s”. I’m finished with the sobs. I’ll just stop taking it all. I just will be damned if I will let them rule my life to this extent.
I watched a video several days ago, the one where the cdc head said she got her info from cnn. I tried to find the video yesterday, I used 4 different search engines and none of them could find the video. I gave up after about 20 minutes of looking for a video I know exists.
It seems to me that the folks at duck duck go have access to the information that the Ukraine is not a bastion of democracy and representation by citizens. I am confused by their stance. Well goodbye duck duck go – hello brave. it’s hard to keep up with it.
Another one bites the dust. Lure people in and then slam the door on them for the power trip and greed that is “government Tech”.
Please advise, are there ANY search engines that will show you the truth, all of it, the good, the bad, the ugly? I’m sick of censorship!!
Correction of “wrong-think” will be the mainstay. An update on Dr. Reiner Fuellmich:
https://www.thedesertreview.com/opinion/columnists/crimes-against-free-will—covid-grand-jury—part-ii/article_7b553d18-9fe2-11ec-bf0f-371e7699513c.html
While Klaus Schwab led the WEF in the direction of the Great Reset using the tool of Transhumanism, Patrick Wood explained the concept to the Reiner Fuellmich grand jury. Wood testified that transhumanism is about the stakeholders at the WEF controlling the ownership and direction of this artificial genetic modification of human beings. In particular, the stakeholders want a future population of human beings that are easily monitored and controlled. To this end, controlling the population’s thoughts and free will is necessary..
Here’s a review of several search engines. Yandex wins:

I already have formed my ideas of fact and fiction for most goings on in the country and world. Nothing will much change those ideas and beliefs. Only the communists and the idiots want to stop free speech and free thought. They feel threatended because they are brain-dead, cowards and totally unable to form an independent thought outside their programming. Such sad little wimps.
A lot of corrections will need to be made to our society to restore order and freedom. Elections sure as hell won’t do the job.
This post caused me to drop DDG, many years since using, and one week after getting their @duck.com address. I’m not for war at all, but I’m for virtue-signaling and speech-suppression even less
I just switched to the Brave browser which gave me the option of choosing Startpage as my default search engine. That combo is great!
I tried out the Brave Search engine by typing in site:theconservativetreehouse.com “Oliver Stone”, but it gave me no hits. In contrast, the Startpage search engine links to this website without problem. In short, the Brave browser is great, but the Brave search engine is not so good.
By the way, I’ve found that the dogpile.com search engine is the best one I’ve tried for finding old movies that are streaming free online.
I’ve been using Qwant for search. IIRC they do not use the Google index for their results. (Bing maybe?)
I just found out here about Brave search, and I heard from Tom Woods about”presearch”.
