The town of Mayfield, Kentucky has been absolutely devastated by at least one of several tornadoes that tore through six states overnight. The video footage of the area shows widespread devastation, and the Kentucky governor is now reporting at least 70 people have been killed.

(Reuters) – A devastating swarm of tornadoes ripped through six U.S. states, killing more than 70 people in Kentucky and leaving a trail of destroyed homes and businesses along a path that stretched more than 200 miles, officials said on Saturday.
Dozens were feared dead at a candle factory in western Kentucky where about 110 people were working when a powerful tornado ripped through the facility late on Friday, causing the roof to cave in. VIDEO:
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said 40 of the 110 workers had been rescued from the factory so far. “The level of devastation is unlike anything that I have ever seen,” Beshear said of the damage caused by the collection of twisters, with the primary tornado traveling more than 227 miles (365 km) across his state.

My LORD I’ve never in all my 79 years seen such destruction! Complete devistation! Nothing left by crumbs! I saw one thing though, house no longer there but the car was safe! So it seems it’s safer to leave the house and climb in the car! But man that’s terrifying to contemplate!

Prayers to everyone involved…as i mentioned in the presidential post earlier…per the DFW meteorologists last night…this storm originated in east Texas and travelled northeast at 50 mph with a super cell intact for 3 hours…they stated this was an unusual occurrence for December but also that a super cell could stay intact for 3 hours and told the viewing audience it was headed for western Kentucky…
Reminds me of the Tuscaloosa tornado in ’11…Wichita Falls tornado in ’79…both hit in late afternoon but in the Spring…an F5 but the damage was similar to Mayfield. I saw damage of each first hand…
The Wichita Falls storm destroyed the Sherwood Forest apartment complex and then collapsed the roof of the shopping mall across from it. Over 200 dead. It was complete devastation. I hope to never see anything like that again.
To help the tornado victims, we can donate blood. There’s a severe nationwide shortage of blood these days, and we want to make sure that the hospitals have enough blood for the victims.
I would guess that there’s some sort of blood sharing arrangement, so that donations from outside the tornado areas can get to the tornado areas, if needed.

My son was sitting in his dorm room at WKU in Bowling Green throughout this. We were really lucky the tornado spared the campus, but massive devastation throughout the community. Luckily he was already schedeuled to come home this morning and is now home safe in his own bed. Looking at the photos, I feel extremely grateful he was not harmed. My heart goes out to all those who lost their lives, their homes, businesses and were injured.

Here in Central Kentucky, we had several days warning of this storm coming in. The alerts went off at 3:oo AM, by 3:15 AM the tornado had touched down about 7 miles north of where my family was huddling in the basement of our home.
Multiple structure collapses with families trapped in their basements. A family friend had the roof ripped off his house and his small shop completely leveled while he sought refuge in the bathroom tub. One minute there was a roaring sound, the next he was being pummeled by the wind and rain.
His neighbors lived in a trailer, warning or no warning-there’s nothing left. It looks like a confetti gun went off. There’s still a search on for their 3 year old. The rest of the family didn’t make it.
Several families have lost everything. It looks like someone just swept their homes off their foundations/basements, leaving nothing.
A lot of gawkers driving around the back roads getting in the way. But even before the tornado warning had been lifted the local tree service and landscaping companies had employees volunteering to help clear trees and debris so that emergency services could reach those trapped. There were more calls for help then available first responders to reach those trapped. Other volunteers and neighbors went out in the elements to help family, friends and neighbors.
Churches and high schools are open for shelters and donation points. There were more then enough donations from the community in terms of clothing, toiletries, food and water within a few hours of organizers calling for donations. Now cash and gift cards are rolling in.
Farmers are making fenced fields available for those who need it for their livestock, barns for horses, volunteer drivers for those who lost vehicles, and so many little details to try and help those in need.
The community is pulling together to assist those who need it even before official help started arriving. It is very comforting during this heartbreaking time for so many.
There’s almost no words, my heart goes out to all of you. We will pray for the safety and recovery of everyone involved😢

We were in Mobile for Andrew in ’92, supposedly the strongest Hurricane in 40 yrs. Sheltered in a bedroom, car crushed on one side of us and the bedroom next door flattened by a tree. This is so much worse.

I checked whitehouse.gov to see what his personal reaction was. Nada on video. They said he has been briefed by FEMA, and he has approved a declaration of emergency for the area, … probably prompted by an adult ratings monitor. I figure it will take at least 24-48 hours for whoever is running this show to digest this, write a statement for him to read and for him to practice it a few times. He’ll probably read something like “Stop talking now” at the end.

Hurricane Katrina in 2005 tore this area apart and flooded what was left.
The 2009 ice storm was worse, 31 days without power, 95% of trees snapped.
Then the (2) floods in the 2000 teens that topped 1937.
Have experienced (7) minor tornados already here-each road out of town already scarred with prior damage.
Have rebuilt, replanted and restored for 30 years.
When I moved here was told I was crazy as the New Madrid earth quake zone is the biggest fault line.
Now this.

My wife has friends in Arkansas near Merrit and they just recently moved there from California. Young wife home alone with small children and a baby her husband traveling in it. My wife is pretty good reading radar and we’ve been through these tornado both in our travels south and in our home after the EF4 Alonsa one that missed our house but took out our woods. So my wife was updating this poor woman and telling her how to get safe in her bathroom and then telling her it looked to miss her. Poor thing was saying she could hear the roar and the hail. Her husband got back at 3:00am and we went to sleep. What a nightmare night. So sorry for the dead and for everyone whose life has been turned upside down by this storm.
We had one go over us (southern Illinois about an hour from Paducah KY) that was supposed to touch ground that didn’t. Our tornado sirens were going off and we had a lot of storm/wind damage on our roof but nothing bad at all. We get this a lot beings were part of tornado ally but it was really weird it being the middle of December.
That being said, I pray for everyone who lost loved ones, their home, business, the heroes rescuing people etc. I couldn’t begin to imagine how devastating it must be. I am so truly sorry. May God guid you through this. Amen.
I’ve heard about Mayfield all my life. My Grandpa was from there and his sisters remained there until their deaths. Desda and Clemantha. My Dad used to spend summers there as a child and said they used to get tobacco from the shed, roll it up and smoke it when he was 8. I always wanted to visit and see this town but never made it there

I want to thank everyone for their prayers. They are truly appreciated. Those of us that can will gather in our churches tomorrow and do the same. Then the hard work of grieving and rebuilding will begin. We are tough people here in Kentucky, and this will test our strength and resolve. We have a job to do. We will help our neighbors. This is our most important job for now. We can worry about Covid, inflation, and the destruction of our country in another day. I ask that each of you take just a bit more of the bigger battle and fight for us while we have other things to do.
You need not worry about us. You can, however, pray for us, support us in the ways that you can, and fight the national battles while we rebuild at home. When we are done, we will rejoin you.

Prayers for all sent up. This is being blamed on global warming; when can we talk about the geoengineering that has been going on? Remember when President Trump was elected/inaugurated…there were three hurricanes. One was going to hit FL and sat off the coast for two days then turned away. As soon as I received emails announcing the Tornado hitting those States I started praying for the people. My Grandson is an over the road truck driver and was in the area. Needless to say I panicked especially after seeing a white tractor and cab tipped over. His truck is white. Panicked I texted him and him knowing I would be panicked called me immediately. He said the area he was in did not get destroyed just heavier winds than they normally get. He said the winds were strong and he could feel the truck being pushed. Not sure How much more this Country can take. Keep praying

There are in fact U.N. Treaties on weather modification / warfare . Basic rule is countries can use it within their own borders , not for offensive use ( like everybody is gonna follow the ‘rules ).
