Just a short note of something rather insignificant in the grand scheme of things….
We are told by the powers that be – that approximately 6,000 to 7,000 American citizens were rescued by daring efforts of the U.S. State Department and U.S. military in evacuations from Kabul airport. Okay, fair enough… that’s a good outcome. Happy to hear it; we can debate the other 116,000 at a later time.
However, it seems a little odd now that there’s no videos of the survivors of the Afghan crisis arriving at airports. No crowds or families greeting the extracted American residents; no human interest stories and local broadcasted news coverage of relieved Americans, husbands, wives, daughters or sons arriving back in their hometown…. nothing.
Six to seven thousand Americans saved from the clutches of the Taliban, and not a single story of those Americans arriving home to the waiting arms of their loving family.
Just weird.

Whether true or not, the border crisis is Trumps fault, whether true or not, a 4th of July meal is cheaper now than a year ago, whether true or not, build back better. I think we have the new slogan for this administration. Now we have to make a few hats.
The three Americans I know of are still “processing” in Wisconsin after sleeping on the airport floor in Reagan airport for four nights, which is 20 minutes from their house. They are being held for two weeks after touchdown on U.S. soil. This is after spending four days inside the Kabul airport gates waiting for a plane, and after getting themselves there safely. The female of the group had a seat on one of the last commercial flights to the US to leave Kabul, but was denied boarding due to lack of a current Covid-19 test per U.S. policy. The real story is not getting out.

It never made sense that even though we had a minimal military presence there, that we would have had tens of thousands of American citizens there. To add to the disbelief, there were countless reports in the news of small American children abandoned there which was clearly designed to tear at the heartstrings but defied credulity. Anyone who bought into the kid thing, is just gullible and naive.
One plausible reason for the con is that the govt (CIA) needs an excuse to return and re-build an American presence for various reasons: poppies, rare earths, regional strategy due to the adjacent countries, satisfy the MIC, connive with the Taliban, and more. They will use the ‘stranded Americans’ as the excuse for re-entry, Americans will be none the wiser and Biden will become a hero.

I guess what bothers me, is we all seem to talk about what is going on, but what are we going to do about it? What can we do? Getting the word out nationally would help. I hope. Actual non military Americans are SOL and still over there, and it is hard to interview them when no one is there and Mr. Taliban is knocking on your door Why is that?
