Representative Ron Wright died earlier this year and his death led to a special election. The race to replace him drew almost two dozen candidates: 11 Republicans, 10 Democrats, 1 libertarian, 1 independent. The race was close throughout the special election and included Susan Wright the widow of the former congressman. Susan Wright serves on the Texas State Republican Executive Committee. In the homestretch President Trump stepped into the race and endorsed Susan Wright. Trump’s endorsement pushed her over the top and she won last night within the crowded field.
There was a republican candidate who openly rejected Trump during the campaign; Michael Wood, a Marine Corps combat veteran and Arlington businessman. Illinois DeceptiCon Adam Kinzinger stepped into the race and endorsed Wood. The Trump endorsement won, the Kinzinger endorsement led to a 9th place finish… [Laughing]… go figure.
Internal polling showed that Rep. Jake Ellzey (R) was holding a slim lead over Wright until the Republican kingmaker, former President Donald Trump, weighed in. Susan Wright and Jake Ellzey now go into a run-off. Both are republicans which means the CD-06 seat will stay republican.

I’m a delegate. Sergio de la Pena is MAGA. A long shot but the guy worked on the Trump campaigns (Latino community) and served in the Pentagon as a Trump appointee. Read his story, even if you don’t live in Virginia, you’ll find it inspiring, and it reinforces that Latinos as a group are not sure-fire democrats. Sergio is the only guy that could take NoVa republican. I’ve known Sergio since the 90’s when we served together in one of those siht-hole countries. (Starts with a V and ends with an ‘a’.) I cannot speak more highly of him. He’d make a great governor. As for the LG and AG, there are MAGA-types running. The “convention” is this Saturday. Will be interesting.

THis is what we need! There needs to be a go to place for freedom loving people to get good solid information for every position in every county in every state. The left has always done a great job at getting their information out there. In the last race, I had to work hard to try and discern who was the real deal versus those who were just using “lower taxes”, “supports schools”, etc.. As far as the judges and school boards went, it was nearly impossible ot discern the best choices, only possible to eliminate some obvious losers.
We need to pick our targets and freeze them before the general election and more importantly, we need a to make available cheat sheets with RELIABLE information. It has to be simple. A sample ballot marked with the best candidates for every office from a reputable source. Everyone on the same page!!
