Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

    What Really Matters

    By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam

Who would ever have thought that a mouse could force a modern airline to transfer 42 passengers from one big jet airliner to another and give the pilot and crew a sixteen-hour vacation?

Well, it happened in London recently. One of the “between flight” cleaners spotted a mouse on the New York-bound jet and reported it to his superiors, with the result that the 42 passengers were transferred to a plane leaving some hours later.

The British Overseas Airways Corporation said that they were doing this to de-infest and fumigate the plane. But — all this: de-infest and fumigate the giant plane because of one little mouse? or even a few little mice?

Well, maybe, but do you know what I think? I think they foresaw panic aboard if some of the passengers should see that little mouse while they were in flight. Women don’t exactly like mice and it wouldn’t be good to have them standing up on seats or rushing for exits at 30,000 feet altitude!

Isn’t it odd! They say a little mouse can scare a big elephant, and it isn’t too different with the human race. Comparatively little things tend to frighten us, while too often we hardly notice great dangers.

The fact that “it is appointed unto men once to die,” and that this can happen when least expected; the fact that after this life there will be no further opportunity to prepare for eternity; the fact that a just and holy God must judge sin (Heb. 9:27): these are the really important matters that so many people overlook in their mad scramble to enjoy life.

Let’s get down to earth and be sensible and face the question our Lord asked in Matt. 16:26: “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Let’s stop living for this life as if it were never to end and for the next as if it were never to begin.

The Lord Jesus Christ died on Calvary to pay the penalty for our sins (I Cor. 15:3) so that we might be saved and sure of heaven. Why not trust in Him and receive “redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace” (Eph. 1:7).

    https://www.bereanbiblesociety.org/what-really-matters/

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

    Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

    To the Reader:

Some of our Two Minutes articles were written many years ago by Pastor C. R. Stam for publication in newspapers. When many of these articles were later compiled in book form, Pastor Stam wrote this word of explanation in the Preface:

“It should be borne in mind that the newspaper column, Two Minutes With the Bible, has now been published for many years, so that local, national and international events are discussed as if they occurred only recently. Rather than rewrite or date such articles, we have left them just as they were when first published. This, we felt, would add to the interest, especially since our readers understand that they first appeared as newspaper articles.”

To this we would add that the same is true for the articles written by others that we continue to add, on a regular basis, to the Two Minutes library. We hope that you’ll agree that while some of the references in these articles are dated, the spiritual truths taught therein are timeless.

Pray for sunlight on the use of healthcare to feed the swamp, the globalists, and the RINOs. Good one DanDeplorable!
Perhaps not, but I would think everyone at some point wonders ‘why am I here’? And after undergoing some of life’s horrific ordeals, one would think to ask, ‘why am I STILL here’? And after being saved, why am I still here? Life can be brutally tough. But as Sturgeon rightly points out, if God takes us out of here right when we’re saved, who would share the Good News? Books, videos?

Nay, I seem to recall we are to ‘work out our own salvation with fear and trembling’. Not that we can ad anything to the finished work of Christ on the cross but perhaps to burn off the dross to ready us for eternity? And is that not why we are not to be dismayed or astounded by the fiery trials which will come our way? That we may know the width, breadth and depth of the love of God?

Too deep for me. But one day believers will know, as we are known. Maranatha!

I’m emotionally moved every time I hear this song. Although I’ve never lived in the deep South, I’m nonetheless deeply Southern. It took me awhile to realize it but the basic structure of my immediate family’s core-beliefs is Scots-Irish. During the post-Civil War era my ancestors joined the diaspora that fled the South. Nonetheless, our traditional beliefs were preserved and passed on. My great-grandmother could sing the Child Ballads. My father taught me values that were in many ways quite different than those around me. It was only later, on becoming better educated, that I realized just how steeped in in Scots-Irish culture and belief my taken-for-granted world actually was. I’m proud that I was brought up in those traditions. I’m proud to say I’m Scots-Irish. Proud to say I’m Southern.

There’s a little town in Mississippi called Paulding. It was once known as “the jewel of the South”. The railroad moved 7 miles north and that little town collapsed. In Paulding there is a church that is 180 years old. It is closed but opened sometimes for special services. Next to it is a graveyard. The names are all Irish and Scot. These are people who left their families and life behind to escape the famine. They came here for a new life, a better place to raise their children. They are gone now and the bones of their lives are planted firmly in American soil. This is the legacy we have of these hard-working Scots-Irish. They fought in our wars, raised their families to be good citizens, and somewhere their children are leading useful lives and making our country better. America is richer for their willingness to bring their hopes here and start a new life.

I was raised in an area that was predominantly Scots-Irish. Lots of McThis and McThat 🙂
        In my extended family also.

Something that tends to be silent is the community Cherokee component, too. Many of my classmates and coworkers had Cherokee great-grandmas.

The Scots-Irish who came through the Virginia mountain passes in the late 1700s tended to settle in with the locals. The inventor of the Cherokee alphabet, Sequoyah, had a Scot-Irish father.

Sam Houston as a young teen ran away from the farm of his widowed mother and siblings, and went to live with a local Cherokee tribe near Kingston, TN. Houston was married three times, and at one point was married to a Cherokee lady in Oklahoma (Tiana Rogers? ancestor of Will Rogers?)

I love our ancestors. They were brave big dreamers, and also amazing athletes, hunters and gardeners/farmers with a deep religious sense. (and in some cases, like Houston, a weakness for alcohol that was only resolved through teetotaller abstinence). I hope we can live up to their hopes for us.

    WHAT IS A MISSIONARY?

“As My Father hath sent Me, even so send I you.” John xx. 21

A missionary is one sent by Jesus Christ as He was sent by God. The great dominant note is not the needs of men, but the command of Jesus. The source of our inspiration in work for God is behind, not before. The tendency today is to put the inspiration ahead, to sweep everything in front of us and bring it all out to our conception of success. In the New Testament the inspiration is put behind us, the Lord Jesus. The ideal is to be true to Him, to carry out HIS enterprises.

Personal attachment to the Lord Jesus and His point of view is the one thing that must not be overlooked. In missionary enterprise the great danger is that God’s call is effaced by the needs of the people until human sympathy absolutely overwhelms the meaning of being sent by Jesus. The needs are so enormous, the conditions so perplexing, that ever power of mind falters and fails. We forget that the one great reason underneath all missionary enterprise is not first the elevation of the people, nor the education of the people, not their needs; but first and foremost the command of Jesus Christ – “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations.”

When looking back on the lives of men and women of God the tendency is to say – What wonderfully astute wisdom they had! How perfectly they understood all God wanted! The astute mind behind is the Mind of God, not human wisdom when we should give credit to the Divine guidance of God through childlike people who were foolish enough to trust God’s wisdom and the supernatural equipment of God.

Articles appeared today regarding the President’s Christian faith and his response to some interviewer that he prefers to be a non denominational Christian. Why does something as personal as one’s faith have to become everyone else’s business.? That he believes in Christ and living in a Christian way should be enough for all of us. He knows that a large percentage of the nation prays for him and his family, for their safety and happiness. nimrodman: I just want to thank you so much for the links you provided yesterday. Read all of them today and “3 Ways To Find out Who’s Connected to Your Wi-Fi Network” helped me to at least find where I was auto-connecting to 2 Wi-Fi networks at the same time. I found the 2 listed networks at: Control Panel\Network and Internet\Manage Wireless Networks. Since I have no idea where the second network came from, I deleted it. I still have to do the part where I sign in to my router network and review it to see if anyone is connecting to my Wi-Fi service, but I think I’ll wait until my grandson comes hopefully for the holidays to see if he can help me through that part.

What is so awesome is that deleting the 2nd network cleared up a glitch that started a while ago where my wired mouse kept double-clicking all the time, and I thought I’d have to eventually replace it. BUT it turns out it was simply connecting to the 2 Wi-Fi networks at once, and when I removed the 2nd network, the double-clicking stopped and my internet speed is back to the way it was originally —- very, very fast. I can’t remember exactly when the slowdown and double-clicking started but it has been ongoing for a while.

Thank you, again, so very much for taking the time to help me by providing those links. I am amazed that I was even able to follow what the gentleman was saying, but he was very clear in his written instructions. This is the link you provided in case anyone else wants to check and see if they have multiple networks they’re connecting to at the same time: https://www.idropnews.com/how-to/3-ways-to-find-out-whos-connected-to-your-wi-fi-network/134217/
