An interesting DC storyline surrounding Senate Judiciary Vice-Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein, and the lack of support for her based on party backlash, highlights an interesting shift in 2016 that few paid attention to. First, the current story:

Dianne Feinstein staying in her post as the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, sidestepping questions about the veteran party elder after she praised Republicans’ handling of the confirmation proceedings for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett.

2020 Democrats are not happy with Senator Feinstein for not pushing the party narrative to seek and destroy SCOTUS nominee, Judge Amy Coney Barrett. This helps highlight the 2016 motive to remove Feinstein from the vice-chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Senator Feinstein was the vice-chair of the SSCI during the 2016 operation to stop Trump & then frame the “insurance policy” against the incoming president-elect administration.
However, in order for the SSCI, the centerpiece for the legislative coup, to be successfully weaponized against President Trump in 2017, senate leadership knew they needed a different person, a more reliable partisan willing to usurp the administration; and that is why Feinstein was told to abdicate her position and was replaced by Senator Mark Warner.
That is why less than a month after the inauguration of President Trump, the new vice-chair of the senate intel committee was conspiring with political entities inside and outside government to carry out the plan.

Senator Mark Warner immediately went to work on the effort to remove President Trump by working with Dan Jones (Fusion-GPS) and Chris Steele via Adam Waldman. A few months later that same plan was enhanced with the addition of the Weissmann/Mueller special counsel. Warner was then working with the SCO (inside DOJ) and the team of Jones, Glenn Simpson, Adam Waldman and others outside government.
Part of that original plan included the distribution of the FISA warrant to reinforce an FBI Trump-Russia narrative against the Trump administration. Building validity for that narrative is why Vice-Chairman Mark Warner instructed SSCI Security Director James Wolfe to leak the Carter Page FISA application on March 17, 2017, to media.
Let’s not give Feinstein TOO much credit here. Let’s credit Donald J. Trump’s ability to turn the game around on corrupt D.C. politicians. Feinstein’s husband rakes tons of cash off government contracts and transactions, and it’s not possible that all of those can be squeaky clean. Also, DiFi had a communist Chinese warlords’ spy on her payroll. Trump knows all about both things, likely knew about both as soon as he climbed into the WH saddle. It was DiFi who grilled Barrett years ago about being too much against her leftist principles, so she didn’t just suddenly change her spots about Barret last week. She had a sudden epiphany, for reasons “unknown”, but about which we can speculate are Trumpian in nature. Not saying Trump blackmailed that squalidly corrupt lefty California politician, but he may have sent her some grey mail. Schumer picked up early that she was compromised, and put Warner in as his hatchetman, or should I say, McConnell put Warner in as his hatchetman, because nothing about Muh Russia would have happened unless McConnell was firmly behind it. .
I think that Feinstein knows her days are numbered and wants to be remembered not as the anti-Catholic inquisitioner, but as someone who worked with the other side with grace and civility. It is about changing her legacy for history.

I think you give the old bag more credit than she deserves. Her “change” is driven not by enlightenment but fear. She is finally figuring out her degree of exposure and calculating whether she’ll spend her last days in the style she’s accustomed to or in a jumpsuit with the “girls” in the cell block!
