Lindsey Graham: “the primary source for the Steele dossier was likely a Russian agent”…

Quite a bit of attention today to a release of information by Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham [LINK HERE].  However, missed in most reviews is a duplicitous motive for Graham to claim “the primary source for the Steele dossier was likely a Russian agent.”

In essence, Graham is promoting a defense previously explored by James Comey that investigative elements of the FBI were duped by a Russian disinformation campaign; and as a consequence their investigative efforts were done under the most honorable of motives, but they were just tricked by Russians.  Ergo, see the Russians did interfere in the election.

That’s the justification narrative, and now Lindsey Graham has positioned everyone to support it; because the alternative is the DOJ and FBI knew it was Russia-centric and were coordinating to achieve a goal provided by the use of that disinformation campaign as purposefully fed by Chris Steele.

Just to drive home the point: the FBI wasn’t duped.  The FBI knew all along the Steele Dossier was a bunch of junk nonsense from political opposition research; but they needed it, to underscore the Carter Page FISA…. which they needed to justify the surveillance.

Former FBI Director James Comey and Lindsey Graham are both promoting the same “FBI duped” justification narrative.  Now, is it a surprise the only witness agreeing to appear before Graham’s committee prior to the election is… wait for it…. yep, James Comey.

Imagine that.

What a coincidence.

Also, notice this from the recently released series of text messages?

Why didn’t OIG Michael Horowitz write about these controversial text messages in his IG report on FBI conduct during the 2016 election?   The report where he couldn’t find any “evidence of investigative bias”….

The Government provided copies of the production with all necessary redactions for public dissemination. These documents evidence stunning government misconduct that mandates the immediate dismissal of this wrongful prosecution. The Government’s redacted production of last evening, September 23, 2020

Did the Weissmann special counsel hide those text messages as part of their control effort over any release from the DOJ and FBI throughout their tenure?

Rhetorical question.

Lindsey is hoping, by going along, that they’ll call off the funding dogs in trying to take him out in the upcoming election. There’s a part of me that hopes he gets taken out and it would be sweet justice. The problem is a GOPe beats a Democrat every time, so I guess I’ll pull for Lindsey.

But it’s fun to watch him begging for money looking like he’s about to cry.

Typical to Lindsey Graham form…. never expected anything but same old from him.

Weasel: Definitions of the word ‘weasel’ that imply deception and irresponsibility include: the noun form, referring to a sneaky, untrustworthy, or insincere person; the verb form, meaning to manipulate shiftily; and the phrase “to weasel out”, meaning “to squeeze one’s way out of something” or “to evade responsibility”.

  5. It shows “Russia Russia” is the only thing they have…the first and the last and the only thing they ever had. It’s just amazing — well, not so much anymore — that even elite politicos like Graham should cling so tightly to obvious treason (as the treasonous lie is obvious). Since Obama, they all think they can blatantly lie to the American people, day after day, year after year…without consequences most upsetting to their comfortable existence, in the end. Kreegah.

Even “the great Lou Dobbs” buys into the obvious lie, of “Russian misinformation”. There were never any Russians actually doing anything. (Deripaska laughed at them; Danchenko is NOT Russian, only Deep State. It was all and always CIA misinformation, deliberate and treasonous)

This generation of America is toast, even with the greatest President in history; history will not be at all kind.

It depends on who writes the history, and for how long the version stands effectively unchallenged. These are indeed the times that try men’s and women’s souls.

I feel like I am going crazy. Did we not hear about this months and months ago? The story being that the FBI was going to say look we were duped by a Russian, but then that kind of died down. I know Dan Bongino spoke about this scenario a long time ago.
Am I wrong? I keep feeling like the same story slanted in a different way with different evidence keeps getting recycled. And around and around we go and then it BREAKING NEWS on our websites. And the ass covering just keeps covering a larger and larger swath of responsible people. OH, and according to Sean Davis we (the taxpayers ) are the ones who paid for those involved in CFH Liability Insurance in case they got sued.
      What the hell?…….

      • Silver Sunday says:

Oh, wait, I think I just figured it out. We did hear that story, and the reason we did was to float it. And see what came back. so Now Lindsay has produced the “evidence” of the Russian spy duped the FBI. What a bunch of BS. As far as Lindsay – ugh. But we need to keep his seat, we cannot

Shawn is always a step behind what is happening. He will catch up. Lindsey has been obfuscating for most of his political life and is basically a clown. If I could handle Hannity’s repetitive canards, which play well with a lot of uninterested people, I would still be in his camp. Interviewing a chump like Lindsey is part of Hannity’s job, however poorly he handles it.

Remember the night « Jerome Corsi » was the guest on Hannity…you don’t because it never happened. Lindsay compromised. He still lives in a big closet . He probably love pizza .

  7. TomA says:

Yes, every sane US citizen knows that this was a full-fledged coup attempt from the get-go and the perpetrators are now working furiously to cover there tracks and dodge criminal prosecution by promoting a false narrative of . . . “we were just stupid idiots that got played by the Russians, so move along, no crime here.” That nonsense will sell within the DC bubble, but out in for-reals land, we know better and the DC Double-standard shall not stand. Either Durham addresses this problem or Plan B becomes necessary. 1776 all over again.

  8. warrprin1 says:

I’m sure you’ve all seen the hand-wringing, heart-wrenching, online adverts from Ms. Lindsey’s campaign, claiming to be bereft of campaign funding dollars. “They’re killing me!”

Did the Senate Judiciary Head Clown actually talk himself into the belief that we were just joking as we begged South Carolina Republicans to kick him to the curb in their Primary?

Given: We cannot afford to lose a single “Republican” seat in the Senate, and to re-establish a Republican majority in the House. We need majorities in both Chambers.

So we hold our noses, again, and vote for the lesser poison in every race in November.
“The longest journey begins with a single step.”

P.S. Rush is talking about all of the above in Sundance’s post right now. “The FBI knew…. in December, 2016.”

This is why he needs to be removed . Lindsay is weak and compromised.he is not a Republican he is not a good man. He is there for Lindsay . Wait that the Epstein secret videos appeared . Those who are fighting with dirty hands , sitting down.

Since the truth will never be revealed on the MSM, I guess this is about all we can expect from Politicians investigating Bureaucrats. I expected much better than this from the DOJ, but I shouldn’t have. Let’s just focus on winning the election in every corner of America! It is our only shot at survival of our Republic. We can get back to worrying about who said what fours years ago after we secure a total landslide against the Democraps.

My how quickly people forget simple things. Boys and girls, here is a report in Vanity Fair from April 2017 celebrating Christopher Steele. In he, he brags about who his sources were. I’ve been sharing this for years. It was not until later in 2017 when we learned about the Clinton->PerkinsCoie->FusionGPS->ChristopherSteele money laundering / plausible deniability funding scheme. (notice in this report they lie about the true source of Glen Simpson’s money assuming it would never be discovered, claiming it was “NeverTrump” Republicans…a flat out lie.)

After we learned about the money chain, reports like this one celebrating Steele were quickly pitched down the memory hole.

Here’s the money quote. Keep in mind this is from April 2017:

“How good were these sources? Consider what Steele would write in the memos he filed with Simpson: Source A—to use the careful nomenclature of his dossier—was “a senior Russian Foreign Ministry figure.” Source B was “a former top level intelligence officer still active in the Kremlin.” And both of these insiders, after “speaking to a trusted compatriot,” would claim that the Kremlin had spent years getting its hooks into Donald Trump.”

None of this is news to anybody paying attention.

Well, since Linda and Johnny Songbird passed it along like the good UNIParty fellas that they are, that would mean THEY COLLUDED WITH THE RUSSIANS.

  13. TwoLaine says:

BTW, to say the FBI was duped is laughable, except it isn’t. They had 100 ways to Sunday yto investigate it 1,000 times long the way and they all looked the other way.

Puh-lease, don’t make me toss my cookies. Weak. Weak, Weak.

“the primary source for the Steele dossier was likely a Russian agent”

And there I’m proven likely correct again on something I’ve been saying for a very long time: the Russians were more than willing to help our deep state in what the Russians intended to be a “Poison Pill” operation. It was a win-win situation for them – stop Trump and get Clinton, a known to them to be corrupt and bribable quantity in office OR, if Trump won, sew the seeds for massive political division.

That’s good in theory but it has become painfully obvious that the Russians had nothing to do with any of this. They couldn’t care less. To say that they were willing to help just perpetuates the deep state lie.

Maybe, there is more to this. If the FBI was “duped” then James Comey is a “dupe” and now Chris Wray an even bigger dupe. Sounds to me like a change of leadership is in order and a total restructuring of the FBI. What better reason for Trump to clean house than to “get rid of a bunch of dupes”.

Whatever new name they are given, they will be broken up into 3 divisions, West to include some states like SD, Midwest that gets close to Eastern states, and East. Each will have a director that reports to the federal AG but is appointed by the attorney generals of the states in their division to serve a term that coincides with presidential terms. The president and attorney general have the authority to fire and request a new director be appointed. Each division will be located centrally as directed by congressmen of the division states.

There is no one top director since “they can be too easily duped.” Each director will appoint an IG that may request at any time any information, any, about any another division. Each division will be required to report to any other division immediately upon request. All three directors must come to an agreement about any investigation, reports, or briefings.

The DC bureau building will be rehabbed by Trump into a beautiful new anti waste and corruption center with over-site over all federal departments.

The Republicans just signed a bill along with all the dems saying they would go along with the Peaceful transfer of power if Biden wins I don’t understand why the Republicans would not just say that they are not signing on to anything until the election is over So do they know that Biden is going to cheat his way to the white house If so , that makes me sick
Graham has said that he would give the Dems a good chance to go against the nominee and give it a go but then he would stop it and they would go for the vote however if I am hearing right all of the senators are being threatened if they vote for the Nominee

  17. TwoLaine says:

Lou Dobbs is giving them h11.

  18. TwoLaine says:

Just remember, their redactions are to “protect sources and methods”.

Meaning it is all to protect their lies and liars.

We have known this all along.

  19. ReglarMerican says:

Yep, the only question now is how exactly to break up and renovate the FBI … most of the top brass going to Leavenworth, there should be plenty of mid-level and low-level real agents who can step up to the plate to make it functional again …

  20. republicanvet91 says:

Lindsey should answer why, if the FBI was just incompetent witless dupes of the Russians, why weren’t they duped by the Ukrainians into investigating Joe Biden?

There was significantly more evidence on Biden, including reports directly to them by Kent.

    • TwoLaine says:

Yes.He.Should. Except they were all part of the coup plotters and spies.

Lindsey should have to answer for a whole lot of shady things, including sticking the Anerican taxpayers with Mueller in the 1st place. F & B my arse. Whoever used their positions of power to force Mueller on us by saying he was a good guy and would be F &B needs to pay the bill for his illegal coup and their crew. It should not be left to the American taxpayers again.

  21. Mr.Morris says:

In the South Carolina Senate race we have Democrat lobbyist Jamie Harrison who supports bailing out rioting “peaceful protestors”.
Incumbent Republican Lindsey Graham insisted there be a special council appointed to investigate non existent “collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia“. There was a lot of collusion going on but it did not involve Mr. Trump.
Both candidates assume we are dumber than a box of rocks.
