Daily I realize new ways in which our thoughts and actions are being massaged by Big Tech. Today I tried to text an American flag at the end of a patriotic text to a loved one. There is a long list of flags, the Rainbow one being in the top row. Scroll down far enough and eventually you find what appears to be an American flag, but when it is clicked on it only shows as a small circle of the flag itself, making it appear less like our actual flag.

Later I tried to add an American flag emoticon to a patriotic email to a different loved one. The ONLY flags on my yahoo email system were the black flag, the white flag, and the Rainbow flag.

No American flag? All these silly emoticons, but nothing to celebrate the symbol of The USA?!!!

Keep in mind that many programmers are either H1B imports or workers in their own countries doing work that has been outsourced. It’s possible that they were deliberately instructed to put the US flag at the bottom, or it could just be that we’re seeing some programmers’ personal preferences. Either way it stinks.

    Food for thought.

What if authorities have known where Ghislaine Maxwell was hiding from the very start.
What if they have been rehearsing her for months to lie about PDJT’s involvement with Epstein.
What if they have provided her with sufficient background and detail to allow her to provide a “credible” story about PDJT’ “involvement”.
What if she has spent the last 6 months practising that “story”, learning her lines, getting it so it flows compelling from her lying lips.
What if that is the next chapter in the plot against the President.
    The October “surprise”.

    Would you be surprised?

Including letting people die without HydoxyC. treatment just because POTUS suggested, will cheat. Cheating will be the least evil thing they will/have done. The Detroit study isn’t compelling enough. They excluded 267 patients who had not been released from the hospital, it’s possible that all of those patients were using HCQ but not being helped by it, it would have totally skewed the final result and made HCQ look as ineffective as was shown by the UK trial.

I”m being scientific. Trials are the gold standard. Studies are less compelling. Just routine science. The Detroit study excluded a bunch of people who were still in the hospital.

Try to not be so emotional about this. Are you so pro-HCQ just because Trump touted it? I’m OK with people using it btw, but you cannot claim that it’s effective. There is no data showing it is. The Detroit study isn’t good enough, sorry. But at least it appears that worst-case is that it’s ineffective. People should be able to try it if they want to but they cannot expect results.

Statistical significance is reached at a p value of 0.05. And these were in hospitalized patients. It works even better pre hospitalization.

This is a hugely significant trial. Unlike Remdesivir which didn’t even demonstrate a survival advantage. Only a 4 week advantage in symptom improvement.

Read the study. These were the excluded patients. There’s good reason they weren’t included as they weren’t available for analysis and/or matched the predetermined exclusion criteria. Which is standard with any quality study.

267 (9%) patients had not been discharged, 15 (0.5%) left against medical advice, and four (0.1%) were transferred to another healthcare facility; these patients were excluded from analysis as we could not ascertain their outcome. In addition, there were 121 (4.1%) readmissions, which were also excluded

A group here in Tucson wants to paint a blue line on the street downtown to show support for the police. One of the organizers apparently had a confederate flag on his facebook someplace (first amendment alert).

So our mayor speaks up and calls them a white supremacist group on her Twitter and states the permit never should have been approved. (No first amendment for white supremacists alert).

I don’t know if they are white supremacists or not but they have equal protection under the constitution. And all they wanted to do was support the police.

The mayor showed us, again, who she really is. She hates the police and doesn’t want the blue line painted. The white supremacy thing is a cover. But she was ok with the city spending $3k to hang a BLM banner on a building downtown.

With that said most of the original 13 colonies had slaves so should the Stars and Stripes be changed in your opinion?

    Hummm!

If this is correct, would it mean: Thomas Jefferson, a “slave owner”, was a founder of the Democrat Party?

    Funny that!

“Over the decade of the 1790s, the Federalists stood for the following economic policies: funding of the old Revolutionary War debt and the assumption of state debts, passage of excise laws, creation of a central bank, maintenance of a tariff system, and favourable treatment of American shipping.

In foreign affairs they observed neutrality in the war that broke out between France and Great Britain in 1793; approved the Jay Treaty of 1794, which terminated the difficulties with Britain; and sponsored strong defense and internal-security legislation in the crisis of 1798–99 (see Alien and Sedition Acts), when French demands almost forced open war.

These policies were strongly resisted, especially in the South; the opposition, organized by Madison and Thomas Jefferson beginning in 1791, became the Republican Party (also known as the Jeffersonian Republicans), which later was renamed the Democratic-Republican Party. Eventually this organization became “the modern Democratic (Democrat) Party.”

The name Republican was taken over in the 1850s by a new party that espoused Federalist economic ideas and that survives to the present day under that name.”

  14. I shouldn’t be thinking about such things on Independence Day, but a theory just occurred to me and I am seeking feedback on it. Like all “models,” this theory oversimplifies things, but maybe it’s useful? Here goes . . .

    1. 20+ years ago, the left claimed to despise and oppose “corporate America” for principled “social justice” reasons. Of course, as it always turns out, the left is really for whatever the left owns and controls and its supposed principles are just contrivances-of-the-moment. Once the left was able to infiltrate, co-opt, and begin to dominate corporate America, all of that supposed principled opposition to corporate America vanished just like that – poof!

    2. 20+ years ago, the establishment “conservative” “right,” aka corporatist cucks, claimed to be ardent and principled foes of the left. Of course, as it turns out, these corporatist soft-left, gradualist cuckservatives are really for whatever corporations want and require. Once corporate America was infiltrated, co-opted, and eventually dominated by the left, all of their supposed principled opposition to the left vanished just like that – poof!

And now 1 and 2 above are unacknowledged ideological allies.

There have been no in-person appearances – only essential motions are argued via Zoom or similar means. The Federal Courts still accept e-filings; I know because I frequently e-file in Federal Courts, including Oregon.

What I find most egregious is that people are being denied their “day in court,” and have no idea when their cases will proceed to trial. Ironically, the left’s clarion call of “No justice, no peace” truly applies here.

A slightly different take on July 4 1776

Thomas Jefferson was asked to write the Declaration of Independence, and so he did, creating one of the most profoundly admired, liberating and influential documents in history. On July 4, 1776 all of the thirteen Colonies magically became States, and now had to go back to their legislative drawing boards and draft new State Constitutions. Many were influenced by the Virginia Constitution.

Many people don’t know that TJ also wrote the first draft of the Virginia State Constitution in June of 1776, getting ready for the Big Day. Although the finished version is much more flowery, I like Jefferson’s first draft better since it’s easier to see his thinking.

It’s interesting to speculate how Jefferson might have influenced the 1787 Philadelphia Convention that drafted our present Constitution. Secretary of State John Jay, an ardent Nationalist, as opposed to Federalist, sent Jefferson to France as ambassador, tasked with renegotiating the national debt (he did), and consequently heard about the New Constitution by snail mail.

As you know, the Convention turned out a Constitution that originally had no Bill of Rights. Here’s a snippet from his June first draft of the Virginia Constitution.

    RIGHTS, PRIVATE AND PUBLIC.LANDS

This year, at the 2020 Salute to America, President Trump will deliver remarks from the South Lawn of the White House before Americans are treated to a spectacular fireworks display from the National Mall.

Joining President Trump and the First Lady will be members of our military, first responders, doctors, nurses, and other American heroes who fought the Coronavirus pandemic on the front lines.

This year’s festivities will honor our service members and veterans with music, military demonstrations, and flyovers—as well as one of the largest fireworks displays in history!

During the last couple of days posters have shared of losses, theirs and their friends, due to suicide. I just found the video I watched recently which I would beg you to share amongst parents.

This is one of the longer videos of Jonathan Haidt, and the entire thing is worth the time, but if you don’t have the time, begin at 1:18. I don’t agree with him on everything, but his observations are excellent and on point.

      Bookmarked for later.

Last I checked, Haidt was a liberal who got red-pilled and has been trying to promote diversity in dialogue in colleges etc. through his HeterodoxAcadamy site.

As I recall, “The Righteous Mind” was a righteous read.

So two women were hit on I5 Seattle … demonstrating. Vehicles blocked the roadway.. I don’t have all the facts but this is just dumb. The driver arrested for assault.. for driving arround vehicles blocking the driving lanes..

Drivers have an expectation that the Federal Interstate system will have all lanes open.. if blocked there are sign requirements,, Lane shifts etc..

Just because WAshington, state highway patrol do illegal closing … because of protestors .. does not release the State from liability..

A driver is clueless about protestors unless signs were placed well in advance… the police knew, the protestors knew.. looks to me he has grounds to sue the pants of everone involved…

I’ve seen several hand-wringing comments on here about Comey’s daughter being involved with the Ghislaine Maxwell case, but I’d like to pose another theory. What if she is working on this case as a part of a deal to reduce potential jail time for her father?

BtoB, daughter Comey was the prosecutor assigned to the Jeffrey [didn’t kill himself] Epstein case, so, it would make sense that her work carries over to the Maxwell case.

Maurene Comey has been serving as an assistant US attorney in the Southern District of New York since 2015.

I post with spacing and WP deletes the spacing and mushes everything together – Can someone tell me what the trick is to keep an extra line between paragraphs, urls, etc?

    Like

    • H.R. says:

If I really want separation of some lines, litenmaus, I do a period, enter, period, enter, period like this
      ,
      ,
      ,
      ,
for as much separation as I need.

I get a single space from my laptop, but a few “enters” for spacing always wind up as a single space as you can see from the single space I just did.

If you’re posting from a smart(ass) spy-on-you phone, I’m not sure what the “helpful” (hahahahahahahaha!! helpful… sure… yeah… right) spell check, autocorrect, and autoformat algorithms are. I’m the proud owner of a flip phone that I rarely answer anyhow, and I leave it at home half of the time.

But if you’re doing laptop or desktop, after the first space you need to have some sort of character to show something is “there” so the ever-helpful program that claims it’s helping you should be cheaper, better, and faster.
