Are you really serious with that BS cause of death? We all saw in different videos from different angles that the SOB racist officer sat on his neck and tried to cut the blood flow to his brain and at the same time reduce his air flow to his lung. Are you twisting the cause of death suggesting that the officer did not cause his death? No wonder the left call all of us Trump supporters racist because we always justify horrible racist behavior of any cops. It is ok to admit that some (not most) cops abuse their power and some (not most) are actually racist

People that can’t breathe can’t talk. This is a basic idea taught to most medical professionals. There was weight on the neck but not that much or their would have been bruising. Floyd died from the panic of thinking he was being strangled from a reduction in air combined with an underlying heart problem.

Raffaella, I agree that the force used by the officer on Floyd was excessive, but I’m not sure anymore that racism was the cause. Are you aware that Floyd and Derek knew each other? They worked together at a night club in St. Paul for at least a year and the club may have been a front for laundering money.
There is some kind of criminality at play here and Floyd’s death was awful to observe, but these protests and riots are meant to destroy the country not find the truth.

For most of this country’s history, the path to wealth was by producing tangible goods. Rockefeller, Ford, Howard Hughes produced goods you could touch.

In recent years a drastic change has occurred: the path to wealth is by manipulating the intangible. Speculating on Wall Street, writing computer code, or artistic creation.

Republicans remain the hewers of wood and drawers of water: the people who coax a living from the physical world. The oil drillers, the miners, the farmers etc.

Democrats are the stockbrokers, the software engineers, the Hollywood movie stars: people who can’t see a strong connection between the physical world and their livelihoods.

Those two contrasting realities are another reason Democrats and Republicans now live in different philosophical worlds.

The environmental movement is largely a toy for rich Democrats. They oppose fracking without scientific basis, but largely because they find pulling a living out of the ground distasteful.

The events of the last months have been a sustained assault on those who depend for a living on the physical world; the barber who needs a storefront and physical contact with his customers, the storekeeper, the dentist etc. The Corona lockdown denied those people the simple contact with their customers they require. Now, those same people are watching their small businesses burn.

The rich Democrats who comprise the ranks of limousine liberals have no such worries. Shipping jobs overseas brings them cleaner air and water. The reduction in smog produced by the Corona lockdown is much discussed in liberal media.

Now we have Antifa riots. As usual, the rioters stay far from the homes of rich leftists. As for endangering their livelihoods; how could the 1s and 0s of banking records, or the 1s and 0s of the computer code that drives an internet web site, be endangered by street riots?

And movie stars have portable talents that can’t be damaged by rioters, only by bad reviews. The cheap thrill of being a pretend revolutionary remains easy to reach.

Being a rich globalist means physical turmoil and danger is always as far away as you choose to keep it. You have no country, no city, no neighborhood. The trouble you cause is escapable by private jet. Let Republicans clean up your mess.

Illuminating — I lived in Santa Monica 1961-1967 during my college years.

I asked LAPD officer Valenzuela, who was standing with a few other officers on 3rd street at a barricade blocking off the promenade, about the looting a block up. He said they don’t have the resources to handle it

“Our job is to be here so people can peacefully protest,” he said.

It’s really frightening how easy it is to start a riot. Back in my college days, I saw one firsthand in 1972.

Back in those days, there was a small group of sleeze bags that called themselves Viet Nam Veterans Against the War. The thing was that none of them were actually veterans; they went around wearing old army jackets that they had gotten from the surplus store. When the USSR fell, records revealed that the VVAW was actually funded by the KGB and were professional agitators.

In 1972, to force the NVA to the peace table, Haiphong harbor was mined. Shortly after this, these VVAW creeps in colleges around the country held a “protest” in support of the NVA. At my university, there was about 15 of them (the university had 45,000 students at the time). They started in the park in front of the library (high traffic area) with their bullhorn spouting rhetoric. Then they marched over to the street in front of the administration building and blocked the road. (some tactics never change with these people). It was a 6 lane main road they were blocking by sitting down in a line across the six lanes.

All these antics started drawing onlookers. Eventually, fire hoses were used to wash them off the road (it was pretty funny). They kept persisting and kept getting washed off. But the crowds kept growing and the word spread. Soon crowds from the local community college started forming but when the local high schools let out, the crowd skyrocketed. There were thousands of onlookers and eventually hundreds of police units.

When it got dark the violence started. This core group of about 15 people now started rousing the crowd of young people. I saw a government car attacked and vandalized. They attempted to set fires in campus buildings so maintenance people were stationed in them with fire fighting equipment. Now keep in mind, this was not the, by this time literally thousands of people doing the violence and destruction, it was just a handful along with some stupid kids trying to show off.

Spent tear gas canisters became souvenirs. A modified armored car with a rotating spray nozzle on top was spraying out streams of pepper spray. Large numbers of people were being arrested and transported to jail in Greyhound buses by the bus load.

The next night, it started up again. When it was over after two nights, a lot of damage and over 450 people arrested. All this from 15 KGB funded assholes who collected a crowd and turned it into a mob.

So, this was 48 years ago and the same types of creeps are doing the same things. A small group collecting crowds with their outrageous antics and turning them into mobs with some people copying their behavior.

Remove the people behind it and it will stop. I am confident that the majority of the 450 people arrested had no idea what the hell was going on and that it was all started by 15 paid agitators. They were just copying bad behavior and feeling empowered by these professional agitators. I watched some of it going on and it was not a pretty sight.

So I hope they identify and arrest the paid agitators real fast and more important, identify and arrest the people who hired them. JMHO.

I think you are right. There is some footage from San DIego–a young guy is walking downtown, and, for the most part, it’s uneventful. Some yelling, some fireworks. They are all young kids thinking they’re doing something important. The young guy was streaming on Facebook and he talks about how many views he had and how he had to (apparently) straighten out his underwear.

The problem is, as you say, there are agitators. These are the folks who start breaking windows and setting fire to things. You can see the guy in the video is disapproving. He’s a average young guy, not an operative. And yet, tonight, in this area, buildings were fully on fire. Someone had to be setting them. But they weren’t livestreaming on Facebook talking to all their friends. By the end of the second video, the police are taking everyone down to the ground due to the vandalism and fire.

The 2nd clearly explains why, in my zoom bible study this morning, virtually all the participants are firmly attached to the idea that we are in dire need of “dismantling racism,” a total acceptance of somebody else’s conclusion that this “systemic racism” exists.

  13. The Lockdown Riots
    by Timothy P. Carney
    (excerpt)
Had officer Chauvin the sense or the pity to take his knee off George Floyd’s neck before killing the man, we wouldn’t have riots and fires and urban warfare this weekend. But that doesn’t make Floyd’s killing the sole cause of this unrest.

“It seems impossible to deny that the lockdowns are a major cause of these once-in-a-generation nationwide protests”

As liberal writer and former Baltimore Sun reporter Alec MacGillis put it, “there’s been a massive, unprecedented (since 1918) shock to society over the past two months. Of *course* it is shaping what is unfolding now, in a way that didn’t happen in, say, 2015-16,” when other police killings happened.

Gallup in late April found that “the percentage of U.S. adults who evaluate their lives well enough to be considered ‘thriving’ has dropped to 46.4%, matching the low point measured in November 2008 during the Great Recession.”

The share of Americans feeling stress and worry jumped by 50% this Spring. Unemployment, idleness, and fear will do that. Millions of people are without work. Millions of young people are without school. Everybody’s bars, restaurants, and coffee shops are closed.

Cities have removed the rims from basketball courts and threatened fines for getting together with too many of your friends. In cities, which is where the rioters are concentrated, people — particularly minorities and non-affluent young adults — had to deal with the added hassle of social-distancing and mask-policing.

More laws, and more intrusive laws means more potential points of friction between law enforcement and the public, which in turn means more protests, more of which are likely to go south.

Basketball games were broken up. Philadelphia police dragged a man from a bus for not wearing a mask. New York police arrested and handcuffed a mother after she rejected police instructions to wear her mask properly.

For the police, the lockdowns and the virus have added new stresses. The NYPD said that death threats against police rose as they were charged with policing coronavirus rules. With courthouses closed, many police saw all the work they did effectively discarded.

Others resented being asked to police petty infractions of new and unclear rules issued by politicians who never intended for full enforcement of those rules. Finally, when the protestors took to the streets this week, their downtowns already looked like ghost towns.

The anxiety of no school, no pool, no work, no church, and no certainty about the future, combined with added tension with police amid lockdown rules, and suddenly the kindling was a lot dryer, allowing the spark to set off a blaze that is encompassing our whole country.

If you see money consistently flowing in a certain direction… then you got an organization. Nobody works for free. Including Antifa. And you don’t need 501(c) paperwork sitting on your desk to figure that out.

Turley has his head in the dirt on this. Antifa is known to have defined structure and organization, even to the point that certain members are taken aside and trained for the more violent roles. That’s been established.

And Antifa aren’t being identified as a terrorist org because of their ‘free speech rights’. They’re being labeled as this for their behaviors that go waaaay beyond the bounds of free speech. Free speech doesn’t cover the right to destroy the property of others and commit physical assault.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — When a man saw ABC13’s live coverage of the protests in downtown over the death of George Floyd, he decided to do something about the damage done.

“I just took a shower, I told my wife, ‘I’m going to go down there and wipe off all that graffiti,’ and I got my pressure washer,” said Brian Irving.

Irving was seen cleaning off a portion of the Federal Building on San Jacinto Saturday around 2 a.m.

He said he was spending four hours overnight doing what he could for the city he’s lived in and loved for more than 50 years.

“I said ‘let me go down there and let me clean up my city,'” Irving said. “What came to my mind was what JFK said – ‘Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country.’ I’m coming down here to put my little bit in.”

Irving said he’s a truck driver by day, but Saturday morning he was determined to use elbow grease to erase vandalism.

He said he understands the anger, but not the destruction.

“We can protest, but we don’t have to destroy the city,” said Irving

I’ve decided I’m going to purchase another firearm. I have just one right now, a small 9mm Ruger LC9, great for my small hand. For self-protection, is there any advantage of a rifle over a hand gun? Or are rifles pretty much appropriate for long-distance shooting? I’m going to be researching this ….

Rifles offer more deadly force than pistols. Most require more practice to be practical and precise at home defense distances. AR15s in caliber 223 (the dreaded black gun) is probably a good choice if this is for the home. Practice is essential.
Home defense shotguns, if you can find one, are also a popular option. Again, they require practice.
That said, if you are well practiced and confident with your current firearm get more magazines and do a lot of practice reloading it.

Shotguns kick, if you have small hands I presume you may be petite. If so, I wouldn’t suggest a shotgun. An AR-15 is an easy weapon to handle and is easily customizable. Be sure to go to the range and scope it and get a feel for it.

There are plenty of home defense shotguns in .410. They’re small, easy to handle, and still would do massive damage to an intruder. Try Taurus, TR Imports and Mossberg for a start. You want pump or semi-auto, and your round of choice would be 3-inch magnums in double 00 buck. Good close range choices for a woman.

The first course I took a long time ago had a section on self-protection. I learned then, and it has stuck with me since then, that you have to be confident with your firearm. Any reluctance or discomfort will be leveraged against you.

I’ll be doing this next purchase as right as the first one. 🙂

Rifles will get you in hot water quick in a riot environment. Damage or death beyond intended target is on you. Shot gun , pump or auto, is primary choice. Use good semiautomatic pistol to back it. Hollow points, not FMJ.

SEC, assuming you’re focused on home defense you might want to check out a pistol caliber carbine (PCC). You’ll find some very good PPCs available that are manageable and plenty good for home defense. Suggest you stay with 9mm, common ammo with your LC9 with a big boost in performance.

What Chuck said. I have the same handgun you have, but it’s only good for close contact, which you want to avoid! At least use hollow points when carrying, and practice, practice, practice!
That said, I also have a shotgun but they DO kick, even a 20 gauge. My son just got an AR15, and although I need practice (still a little heavy for this old gal), I would take that over the shotgun.

I was born in DC and my Father was a milkman, gasman and DC Fireman/medic. 3 jobs to feed 5 kids. He was a Republican. My father has helped at least 500 African American Women deliver babies in the field. He was the best driver as he maneuvered ladder trucks downtown on skinny streets of downtown DC. When the riots broke out in 1968, my father was on a call and was trying to get a family out of a burning car. He gave his heart and soul to every job he performed. That day he had a massive heart attack, lived but no more Fire Department work. Meanwhile my oldest sister worked town town DC at General Telephone, she was taken hostage by an African American Male at gun point the day after Dr. King was assassinated. She was released without incident. My Father and our entire family loved our country. 4 months later in one car with really no money, my father moved his family to Florida. He felt there was no way his family would be able to live up to what he thought our potential was in DC.

NEVER once while I was growing up was my family “racist”. We all just strove to do this best we could and work side-by-side with everyone.

I look at DC this AM with heavy heart, monuments, church’s, areas of history and the remembrance of where ALL American people came from how we have progressed as a Nation. My Grandaddy made a point to take me personally to visit areas of history that included success and failure. Today I watch a generation that have no clue what they are destroying. What I see on TV is young people with no direction, education or drive IMO they only think about themselves..offering no sacrifice for Country, Community or Neighbor. Godless thugs that are trying to change the fabric of this country to what “they” want to suit there selfish needs. This is the United States of America. It was built on sacrifice and the love of God. Today they display no respect for themselves, their parents, their neighbor, their community or their history. I am disgusted.

Reality is always in the forefront and I am a Patriot to the end. God Bless President Trump and God Bless America, she is stronger than anyone could ever imagine. xo

Food for thought on this first day of June, 2020.

All the comments here are right on – but – don’t lose sight of China
A few weeks back a Treeper posted fascinating thoughts on the WuFlu – wish I had kept the post. Part of the post had to do with China’s possible objective – not so much to kill us, tho that was OK, too, but mayhaps to disable us. Hence the prep to make hospital beds and medical personnel available for an onslaught of patients. Combine that with ‘if you are ill, stay home’, and they could march in unopposed.

Well, that didn’t work out the way they hoped, so we had/have the states continued shut down – Dem states shut harder than Repubs, but stay at home was/is the imperative.
If we were not incapacitated by the WuFlu, I believe what you may be seeing is the next attempt to immobilize and distract us from … China …. IMHO

And we even have HRC calling out to China for help.
We get minimal reports on Hong Kong, thank you A2. How many other reports are out there re: India, Taiwan, Guam, South China Sea? What is happening in Africa and Australia?

Ps I wonder if we will get blaring news reports when we start arresting ANTIFA ???
