      IMO the better approach is flood whitehouse.gov with the suggestion to PT to sit down with Chanel Rion every week for a one on one update interview so Americans can get honest and direct questions asked and answered by this President.

      And IMO one of the first ones should be………

      1) How many of the hospitalized COVID-19 patients have been given the hydroxychloroquine treatment?

      2) And if these patients who have been given Hydroxychloroquine, how many of those have recovered or been released?

    After all the other attempts to remove Trump (N.Korea, Syria, Impeachment, Russia, Leaked Tapes, Sex assault) its interesting that they then picked on Trumps well known Germphobia to stampede him into this stupid scenario.

    If 10 million unemployed is not a wake up call for Trump I do not know what will be. I fear he is locked into the idea he can save this through govt action, when this the very thing killing America.

    He just needs to step back and look away from the expert morons and make an adult cost benefit analysis and stand with it. He would get great support irrespective of the traitors in the press screaming.

        He is not locked into anything. Saving face is no excuse to plunge the US into a massive depression. The unemployment rate is pretty close to 2008 levels in just 1 month. In 1 more month or more we will be looking at the 1930s 20% rate.

        He could just say looking at the figures its time to do something else. Its not about politics and optics its serious.

            Yes, the threat is real! I’m not a mind reader, but I think the president still has waiting to see after Easter in his mind. A lot can happen in a week as we have seen. He only issued guidelines, it’s the states that are running amock.

        The public perception is that the shut down is justified. Trump is not blamed and his poll numbers are up. The dims can’t stand this and are now trying to blame him for acting too slowly, which is a hard sell since Trump stopped travel from China very early.
        If using this flu to destroy Trump was the plan, it has backfired. Trump reacted to what his medical advisors told him and made the decision to save lives. Our economy will rebound and our medical supply chain is leaving China. We will have respirators galore.
        The other politicization of this is shown in dim governors disallowing a tried and true malaria drug for use on this Wu-flu That, and increasing the shutdown of their states to extra lengthy time.

          It’s way too soon to tell if it backfired or not. We’ll know that in November. The problem is that many of the voters in PA, MI, and other places that put Trump over the top aren’t die hard Republicans. Some didn’t vote previously, some voted for Dems previously. If these people don’t have jobs or are otherwise suffering economically, they aren’t going to vote to re-elect Trump. Given the damage done to the economy, his chances for re-election are slim to none. His poll numbers now don’t matter, and unfortunately he seems to be focusing on them in extending the shutdown. I can already see the Dem campaign slogans. They’ll say we could have taken targeted measures in January and didn’t, and as a result, destroyed the economy unnecessarily.

          I question some of the information on polling. But I don’t know the questions used for the poll.

          What they are saying is we have had one of the strongest economies in recent history, everybody is working, wages are up, unemployment is at all time lows, soaring stock market, 401’s thru the roof and we now switch it all off and the Presidents poll numbers go up. I’m very confused. We are being played.

            The polls are reflecting Americans belief there is one adult in the room. He is playing the cards he is being dealt the best way he can. I for one have BLIND faith in my beloved President. I know this will not sit well with some of you but to bad, He has earned my faith.

            I don’t have the access to data he has. I believe he is better then I at sifting through the various expert opinions and agendas. He brought me to this dance and I will dance with him until I’m dead. I am the supporter he talked about when he said he could shoot someone in Time Square and it wouldn’t matter. I would clean and reload his gun because I know that person needed shooting.

            Want to know why the poll numbers are up? It is because millions of Americans like me know that the best man for this time is in charge. He will do the best he can for all of us.

            I am on the Trump Train and the Chinese just wrecked the bridge over a huge chasm. Trump has stopped the train and is doing a damage assessment. something has to be done. Some want to just throttle past it and take the risk the train falls through the remnants of the bridge. Some want to put wings and rocket motors on the train of course that will mean years of research and development. Trump a builder, if he tells me to get off the train and grab some tools and start building a bridge well that what I will do.

              Being stuck here in Virginia ,I find myself slipping into a funk .
              I have to fight it everyday.
              My kids are home and have been working Google classroom .
              I have gotten 1 update from one teacher.
              The others are all working on a plan .????????
              I felt like here is your plan look at google classroom and submit lessons and grade them.
              The kids have been out since Mar 16.
              Motivating them is sadly driving me nuts.
              I can not imagine how the average ( only do as much as you can get away with )person is coping.

                To keep sanity we have invented an imaginary person to blame things on. When a chocolate Easter bunny disappears, we blame Carole! When the neighbors husband vanished, we blame Carole!

                You could also get addresses of local nursing and retirement homes and have the kids send cards and letters. Monterey Bay aquarium has live cams of the otters and jellyfish.

                Have a scavenger hunt for ten things around the house, but only hide nine things.

                I’m assuming they’re not college age?

                I only raise dogs, so what do I know.

                One thought…some very kinetic kids need a lot of activity because their brain works better with muscles in motion. One of my kids used to study her college biology lessons while working out on a stationary bicycle at the gym.

                Was told that a famous singing group from the 1940s (Andrews Sisters?) used to memorize their songs while walking because it was just *easier*.

                If they aren’t getting enough exercise, studying may be harder. My first grade teacher used to have very short half hour lessons punctuated with breaks to jump rope in between. It was great and we all learned to read, even the kid who was probably deaf.

                Do the kids have maybe a trampoline or something to keep the blood going to to the brain and everywhere else? Jumprope?

                  I used to have a stopwatch and have them run around the house outside 1 time or 10 times (depending upon their age). Then I would give them a time to beat and have them do it again. I had a spool of cheap blue ribbon, so everyone would ‘beat their time’ and get a piece of blue ribbon. One could do relay races, wheelbarrow races, three legged races. It seemed to work.

      This is what it means to be the Supreme Commander. It is literally his job, and also Mike Pence’s, to seek to make the best decisions based on the best information available. He (they …) will “own” those decisions forever. His desk is filled with “bucks” that stopped there and that are still there.

      Sure, it’s fun when they salute you and play “Hail to the Chief” when you walk by. But, at times like these, the Oval Office is a very lonely place. But you are “the responsible officer of this Government.” Only you.

      Correct. The economy and the healthcare system are in a symbiotic relationship with healthcare being the more dependent…by a lot. As the economy with it’s tax revenues in decline, how long before the healthcare system also spirals into decline? If and when that begins to happen, how effective will the system be in treating COVID-19 stricken ‘Joe’, not to mention, Jane, John, Mary, Paul and the million others with DIFFERENT serious medical conditions? There is not just a dollar and cents benefit thing but also a risk/benefit in terms of healthcare.

        Be an adult, do nothing and accept the tradeoff. its the flu. people die all the time. Its called life.

        We can never get rid of it and it will be round again next year as covid-20. It happens every year. If we all stay in until September and come out again it will still be here and in a different form. Should we do the same again? For how many years? until every infectious disease in the world is gone?

        If older people want to do the same thing as they do for a flue season that is what they should do and that is sensible. In 2018 80k people died and 900k were in hospital from the flu. I do not remember putting 10 million people out of work for numbers that are the same scale.

        This idea we can save every person from every minor thing is childishness of the extreme kind and is suffocating the world in an orgy of stupidity.

            It is not science it is modelling based on data and curves picked by the modellers. Science is a falsifiable hypothesis framework, . This is not falsifiable in any manner and therefore does not meet the definition in any form. Otherwise known as guessing. Science is not a thing it is a process.

            Lets see other “science” models that are wrong (peak oil, global cooling, global warming, BSE in the UK, Ebola, Swine Flu, Zika, HIV) All wrong massively. Scientists are not gods and they fix data and falsify results for all sorts of political and financial reasons and always have.

            Quarantine will not solve it. It will be here for ever as all the previous strains still are, we just develop immunity to them via exposure.

              If you stand on the beach watching the water recede you will likely not be able to avoid getting killed when the tidal WAVE sweeps in.

              Are you willing to let our medical personnel and their patients stand on the beach? Not knowing precisely how destructive the wave will be, but knowing it WILL be destructive.

              Are you OK with the NY (and other large cities) having bodies piling up so that we have to bulldoze them into mass graves?

              Of course you’re not. But you’re willing to second guess the experts and somehow block out THE most important issue here – the WAVE.

              It’s not the fact that covid kills 40,000, or 80,000, or 2,200,000. It’s the speed at which it will happen. Very, very slowly at first, and then suddenly very fast. At a certain point it’s too late to manage the WAVE.

              Lets be cautious until the WAVE is past. THEN, with the facts gathered, and the HCL used as a “gamechanger….the end of the epidemic”, we can crush the curve and all get back to work by May 1 (and many sooner than that).

              Do you doubt that PDJT is planning out that very scenario right now?

Before restricting travel from China and other countries, average 220,000 people arrived every day from around the world to the U.S. That 220,000 went to hotels, restaurants, bars… everywhere. We don’t know how many of them carried the virus, how many caught it on the airplane, but it doesn’t matter. Let them spread it… Are you OK with that?

              I have a close relative, worldwide recognized microbiologist, virologist, who could change your mind in a few minutes. If we don’t isolate the infected people with the Chinese Virus, the consequences are unimaginable.

          Obviously, you have no family or friends who have caught this virus. I have two friends right now in critical care with the virus. Not sure if they will make it. They didn’t already have ‘one foot in the grave’ (as others have indicated previously) either. They are wonderful Christian men who are servants. One is a teacher and he (along with his wife) have adopted several children and he has also been a father figure to the boys in their neighborhood who had no father figure. The other volunteers at a Food Pantry and prays with each one who who comes to get food. NEITHER of these men would have died from the Seasonal flu!
          This virus is for real people and it is very different than the seasonal flu. This storms your lungs and overwhelms them. You might get pneumonia from seasonal flu, but never like this. Our president is just trying to get a handle on it and for that, I am thankful.
          How dare you place money above lives. How is placing finances above the lives of great people in our country any less horrific than the democrats saying that abortions are necessary because they interfere with a woman’s plans for her life.
          I pray that none of your loved ones contract this. If they do, I promise that you will change your mind completely. Initially, I thought similar to you, to keep the old folks in and everyone else get back to work. But it is NOT just the elderly or compromised. Check on this story of a young 30 year old baseball coach and teacher who contracted it and died. Let that sink in – 30 years old and healthy. The hospital should have kept him and even treated him with the drugs that have been proven to be successful thus far, but I imagine the hospital thought he would be okay because he wasn’t old and compromised like the ones that you are indicating are not worth saving.

            If we can only spare one life I will gladly put 20 million people into homeless camps and have them scavenging for food in the street. Now that is compassion.

              My son and daughter-in-law caught the Chinese Virus from the doctor of their 17 month old little guy. They’re OK, the doctor is still in intensive care. How do yo plan to protect doctors and nurses? How do you isolate them from their patients?

                Good question, and Dr. Zelenko, who is missing part of a lung and therefore at risk, uses Telehealth to examine his patients remotely with the help of PAs and nurses (who have already been exposed and recovered, I’m assuming).

                Early on there was discussions of using more Telehealth services to help protect medical staff, but I’m not hearing anymore about it. I realize not everyone would have access, but even if quite a few did, this would help reduce transmission. Would like to hear more about this in the daily updates?

                Why the vaccine-only fetish from the CDC when they admit people are dying?

                Some ‘journalist’ needs to ask fauci when the CDC first considered small molecule treatment, what they have done, what they have financed, why other countries are way ahead of the CDC, and why they are insistent on slowing other treatment investigation while they wait for vaccines.

      I see the thread about drug interdiction. I don’t see it as an accident that this disease shows up on top of a major onslaught through our open border of lethal highly addictive drugs.
      Also quit mixing the “opioids”. The heroin and fentanyl have nothing to do wit the problems of Americans on prescription painkillers.
      Just as we see with the Chinese virus, the government is cracking down on innocent Americans, in the case of the opioids, because they not only didn’t attempt to prevent that massive quantities of heroin flooding the country, they aided and abetted it.

      I don’t think Trump’s germophobia has stampeded him into “this”. Trump is intuitive to a very high degree, and like many other people (including me) he has seen this coming down the pike for a long time.

      I’m not a germophobe, but I notice things that can make me (and others) sick. It’s easier for me to acknowledge the risks than for a lot of other people who are hell-bent on going along to get along (or obsessive compulsive about cleaning). I notice obvious risks. I think our President does also, which sets him apart from most of the “leadership”.

      It’s annoying to be out sick for weeks, even if you recover and go on to get stuff done. Life is short under the best of circumstances. If influenza etc. is avoidable, why not avoid it?

      Yet we have dirty dormitories in colleges; office buildings with closed ventilation systems; hospitals crawling with MRSA; filthy subways in NYC; poor indigent mentally ill people defecating all over public areas; shaking hands (when mutual bowing is safer in flu-prone areas)…. could go on and on. Trump is not dumb. He sees what he sees. That’s not a “phobia”, he’s one of the least fearful I’ve seen

    Important update from New York. The the State has just deemed Residential and Commercial real estate as essential business activity. This is one of the sectors of the economy that they had tried to shut down.

    It is likely the path forward out of this mess, the hysteria fabricated by the media out of malice and spite. You will likely start to see other businesses classified as essential, as the country gets back up and running one sector at a time.

      I think you’ll see businesses getting back into it by the end of April, beginning of May as long as they are following the CDC guidelines.

      I follow NYCCNC (John Saunders) on YouTube and have been to his shop for a training class. It’s 10,000 sf and they have 4 guys running machines and one person that helps with his video editing: they are closed due to Ohio’s stay at home order. In the podcast (Business of Machining) he does, last week he mentioned they have no cases in their area and driving around there’s plenty of people out and about. He mentioned the idea of how does this business get to stay open, but not this one.

      First off, he does manufacturing and makes fixture plates for CNC machines plus does a lot of education stuff on YouTube through his videos on CNC machining (that’s what people should be watching right now if they want to learn new things with there newly found extra time – I would argue that’s “essential”). They aren’t making “products” for the supply chain per se, but they are making items that help others make products (I need to but a vise from them but can’t – been looking for months and I’m finally able to pull the trigger) so how come they must shutdown?

      Second, they can easily meet the CDC recommendations and in the podcast he mentioned things they were doing prior to the shutdown order to keep things “safe” for everyone.

      Third, even if they didn’t “manufacture” things, I would support his operation being open due to amount of employees, size of building, and no real “customer” foot traffic. A non-essential business example would be a small boutique clothing store – I think they should be able to stay open if they set up there operations so it’s like curbside pick-up. Order things by phone or online and pick them up: I know you need to try things one, but if you know what size you need why can’t you buy it. Bookstores are closed here in Alabama. If they have less than 10 employees all separated, why can’t they do they same curbside pick-up (I would argue they are essential because people have extra time to read and improve themselves, as well as fiction helping relieve some stress)

      All that to say, I think people will start bucking the system in a few weeks and demand to re-open if they can follow CDC guidelines.

      • Eric- hope and pray that you are right, that they will start to end this madness.
        We can’t go on like this much longer.
        More people are going to die from unemployment and other causes than from the damn Chi Com Flu.
        Let those of us who want to volunteer to go back to work be allowed to do this. I am a senior, supposedly at higher risk because of age. I don’t care. I am thinking of applying to Walmart or one of the supermarket chains and trying to get a job.
        The pay is better than what I’m making now with my own biz which is zero.

        As another poster stated. He did not see any CDC guidelines or social distancing in the constitution. What you are saying is you can open your business if you adhere to CDC guidelines. We are swirling around the bowl.

        • Carrie- in our Northern Westchester city there’s a popular FB groups with over 6000 members. This group is hyper local and people have been sharing information to some degree.
          For the past week I have been posting this question: are there any doctors, nurses or other medical professionals in this group who can tell us what’s happening at our 5 local hospitals? Are they overwhelmed? Do they have enough beds? Do they have the medicine? Enough masks, gloves?
          And you know what?
          The silence is deafening NOT ONE PERSON HAS RESPONDED. NOT ONE.
          So what does that tell you?
          Does it mean that they are so overwhelmed they don’t have time to post on FB? Even to tell us not to go to the ER?
          THERE IS SOMETHING VERY FISHY GOING ON.
          Meanwhile, I just heard a Fox news story about how the smaller, non metro hospitals are all going out of business because they had to cancel all their Non-Corona procedures.
          Isn’t this wonderful?? Not only are we going to put most of the businesses out, but now we are going to lose our HOSPITALS as well..
          Way to go Government A-holes!

        There’s a guy who started a YouTube (Metro Manhattan – I think) channel about real estate in Manhattan after he helped a “YouTuber” find a new space for his computer board repair business. I haven’t watched the last two videos he posted about Covid-19, but a few days ago he gave a brief update and said he’s been in New York since the 1980’s where he always broke things into pre-9/11 and post-9/11. He thinks there will be definitely be a pre-Covid and post-Covid period outlook.

        His opinion is there will be a definite shift in Manhattan real estate with some firms downsizing and others expanding. I’ll be interested to see his perspective of what industries will thrive after this, he made the point that there were some businesses barely making it before this on a month-to-month cash flow basis.

        What would happen if everyone stopped collecting payments for 60-days? I saw someone post that our economy does about 22 trillion in 12 months – about 1.8 per month on that number. The stimulus package was 6 trillion, that should cover everyone to keep paying employees for 60 days and keep the economy primed for release, based on that what is the real loss? (as long as the business is viable which pre-dates this particular issue)

        The recovery will be interesting. I trust President Trump and his team of economic advisors will do the best that could be done, ever! There is no other President who could make this a “winning” issue, not Bush I, not Clinton I, not Bush II, not Obama, not Clinton II, not Biden, not Cuomo, not Sanders, not no one!!!!

        In the long run, it is what it is, there is only so much each of us has control over. Make sure you do the best with what you can control.

        Only time will tell what the outcome is, I happen to be on the optimistic side. We shall see.

            Actually Amy regarding Covid we are compliant, Yeah the government occasionally threatens force but we are compliant. That indeed is the definition of consent of the governed. If the masses turn and say this is silly consent is gone and the government either flails or retreats.

            My initial position was non-compliant I felt this was an overreaction I still do… however I do not feel so sure of myself to put others at risk so for now I comply and will wait and see.

            The damage to the economy is reversible, enough money will certainly be spent, The printing presses will run, you will see some inflation but not what some expect. This is a world wide dillema all will act the same printing money.

            It may very well be that Trump wants to outspend as a factor of GDP our competitors in order to lower the value of our dollar. That would result in fewer imports and more exports. Since our nations debt is in dollars it would actually lower the actual value of the debt. The fear of inflation and its impact on fixed income people has been mitigated in many ways. 1.SS is cola based 2. Few have retirement moneys in the pathetic long term interest bearing instruments. those that do will take the short term haircut for bigger yields of newer instruments if inflation peaks.

            I expect to see a freeze on treasury payments to china at least for a while ( I would confiscate their treasury bonds). China has to control its release (intentional or unintentional) of it diseases. The world will demand that china make refrigeration more widely available to its people and shut down the wet markets. I for one would support freezing assests until such time as they get control.

    Why are the cashiers and employees at Walmart and all the grocery stores not getting the virus? Most are not wearing masks. They do have hand sanitizers for cashiers. I asked several employees yesterday at Walmart and two grocery stores and they all said no one has gotten sick.

    I am wondering if it is the group events that are most likely where it is spread; ie Mardi Gras, Chinese New Year etc? Maybe it takes a concentrated amount of the virus to actually infect others.

      Just a personal anecdote, the sister of someone I went to high school with just died from Coronavius in Georgia. She was under 50 and I’m told what was a “cold” a few days ago destroyed one of her lungs and caused some sort of infection in her heart. I’ve asked if she had any underlying medical issues but have not received an answer yet.

      I’ve also seen tweets like this on Twitter from Trump supporters:

      So let’s not brush this all off as just some possible conspiracy to take down the President. It may be, but if it is, they are doing a good job of killing people to make it look real.

              What my humble understanding of this virus is……it seems to be fast moving and more contagious than the normal flu viruses….so affecting more people. This hits more people with underlying conditions. But what I am really concerned about is the actual success of a vaccine based on past performance of flu vaccines and ever changing strains. When this returns possibly in another form it will still affect those with underlying conditions despite having a vaccine and all was for naught. That we should have let it run its coarse but with having precautions without shutting down the economy. I also join those that believe PT is still eyeing Easter as a turning point. The HC plus z pack zinc will be key. How to make sure that people get it who are suspected of having the virus asap whether tested or not. We cant go on with this only giving this treatment when on death bed. Has to be given asap.

            Actually, the FLU related deaths are counted similar.
            Gramps has HF (heart failure) or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and the flu finishes them off, we count that as a flu death.
            It’s how we get to 80k.

            Flu mortality hits primarily the very young and very old. This year we have about 150+ deaths in peds so far. You are telling me the very old doesn’t have a multitude of co-morbidities? Lol.

        I agree, I know from my wife’s interactions about someone who is on a ventilator that is in their 50’s. Let’s just say that this particular place was doing elective things and really shutdown those elective things after this person became seriously ill with Covid-19

        I listen a few times a week to the area agency update (Includes County, two large cities, and the 2 large Hospital systems) The Hospital CEO (largest in Alabama for patient volume) said they are doing good now, they have 8 in-patients with Covid-19 and none on a ventilator right now. He said based on the models they are reviewing, April 20th will be the peak hospitalization in the area and they will be using lots of medical equipment.

        I know they have rearranged the rooms people use in order to have all Covid-19 patients in their positive pressure floors. They aren’t going to do all this for “nothing”.

        I also truly believe the Hydrochloroquine, Zinc and Zpack (for secondary infections) will be a game changer. It just makes sense, hydrocholorquine opens cell to receive Zinc, Zinc enters cell and destroys RNA viruses, Covid-19 is an RNA virus – it’ll take a few weeks, but that will be the game changer to allow society to move on. Without that, I think it would’ve been a long haul until a vaccine was deployed – albeit that things are moving swiftly.

        On a side note, we are entering a period of low to no sun spot activity. The Wolf minimum ran from 1280 to 1350 where the Great Mortality (or Black Plague) started in central Asia in the 1330’s (during the minimum). It could be that lower sun spot activity leading to lower ultraviolet radiation allows viruses to mutate.

        Disease needs population and travel to expand. Our current global society allows for this, people are traveling across borders and the globe daily.

Early treatment seems to be very effective with HQ /zpak/Zn, but wait too long and you’re rolling the dice.

          On an interesting side note, my ultra-partisan Democrat mom who is a former nurse who lives in upstate New York keeps correcting me when I say New York is the main problem. “It’s not New York State that is the problem… it’s New York City!”

          (So apparently even the “liberals” in upstate New York are embarrassed about how this is being handled in NYC.

          Make sure if you take the Hydrochloriquinine cocktail you do not have any heart conditions , otherwise you need to be monitored on the drug … it’s low risk but 1 in about 10,000 people can have a serious arrhythmia which could cause cardiac arrest . That said it has very little side effects for a typical modern drug .
          Also remember the risk factors that are now being added to the list of the COVID susceptible , regardless of age if you are morbidly obese or are diabetic or pre-diabetic , this thing can take you down fast .

        Eric, you have legitimate concerns that need discussion. But so too does littleflower. While littleflower’s questions are based on anecdotal evidence, they are important and worth discussing.

        This virus is billed as much more contagious than the flu. If it is in significant circulation where littleflower lives, some of those Walmart workers should, unfortunately, be joining the ranks of the sick, and possibly, God forbid, joining those who are horribly affected.

        I see no evidence in littleflower’s comment that it is being brushed off, or treated as a conspiracy.

        I’ve heard from some harried health professionals that the thought is that it takes 15-30 minutes of close contact with someone with COVID19 to contract it through the air. Also there is supposedly some evidence that the virus survives in fecal much longer than other vectors. I’ve not seen the evidence for which theses are based….just hurried comments from said harried health care professionals.

      Consider: according to present data, the average social interactions of the average American has declined roughly 90% in the last 2-3 weeks with all of the shutdowns. This virus with known characteristics has gone through at least to cycles of spread. Within epidemiology models and mathematics, IF bars, eateries, large gatherings were a major vector source, we should have seen the infectious number, R0, drop substantially. It hasn’t. From all data presented within the last 3 weeks, the R0 number of this virus has dropped .4-.5. It should have dropped close 1 or below. There is another vector source.

      The data is now showing that 1/5 to 1/6th of all COVID-19 infections are among healthcare workers. In the ‘olden’ days when sanitariums housed infectious individuals, personnel that worked there couldn’t leave. They had to essentially live there until the bug cycled out, died out. Draw your own conclusions……..

        Clarification: R0 is infectious. A rating of 3 means 1 person infects 3, 3 infect 9, so on and so forth. This virus has a R0 of 2.7-3. Rate of decline since the shutdowns has been .4-.5, meaning it’s overall R0 has dropped from 2.7-3 to at least a 2.2. IF social gatherings were a major vector, the R0 should have gone to RO=1.3 or lower. R0 below 1 means virus is petering out.

          It has been commented that the reason for Italy’s high number of deaths were do to medical transmissions.. the WHO and China hiding human transmissions did not help. The United States has greater resources and knowledge then Italy did at the start of the pandemic so we are in a much better position.

          Presently the testing average …..10 % positive 90 percent negative.. so if heath workers are positive they represent a huge social interaction and possible virus spread. Our call for massive PPE equipment for hilpital workers makes sense.

          Some reports say that the longevity of the virus on solid surfaces is prolonged and up to several weeks.. not sure if I believe that data since it would be substantially different from othe typical flu viruses..

          I’m sure the US has the means and intelligence to come to grips with this virus.. the real question is how long?

        It is flawed reasoning.

        You are claiming (with BS logic) that the model is wrong, and not to be trusted. A better approach is that you look at what the model predicted two weeks ago to what is happening now. If the model prediction does not match reality, then you can argue it is a bad model.

        If the model predicted accurately, that supports it being a good model. Guess what? It is doing well, and is being updated daily with new information.

        We hope that aggressive use of therapeutics (e.g. Hydroxychloroquine, etc) and social distancing will reduce the estimates (and make the model “wrong”). But here, it looks like we are not doing as well.

    Friend of mine is very senior in CDC. He and his wife are big Libs. She’s been emailing me constantly (all negativity, this will go on long time, I respond back with the positive). Anyway, friend of mine’s sister got sick with CV and had fever of 100. I called my friend’s wife to ask about how to get package of Chloroquine/Zpac/Zinc…..she tells me she’s got it at home (her own stash her husband gave her with instructions to take if any family member spikes a fever). They’re clearly hoarding supplies for hospital staff and first responders – and apparently for family members too.

Why hasn’t the American People seen these models that have been incorrectly (inaccurate) overstating each forecast by material numbers, even after adjusting their models to actual numbers, 3 days before their forecast projections are compared? Some models are stating that we must close the United States through June.

    1. PDJT can take responsibility for preventing between 100,000 and 2 million deaths.

If these things are happening maybe it makes better sense to end the quarantine (still advocating for frequent hand washing and social distancing) and massively treat symptomatic people with the new hydroxychoroquine regimen. President Trump I’m sure will then lead America to the greatest economic recovery in history.

      A50, I quit trying to sort out conflated number of deaths, number of infected, etc some time ago. My sense is that the MSM and dimms have just about run out of ways to hype the DEATHS anymore. Most people are ready, willing and eager to go back to work. PDJT is only waiting for assurances of appropriate supplies of the HC AZ drugs and a few more success stories to change the game.
      Seniors and those compromised, isolate yourselves. Everyone who can work from home, do so. Homeschooling with remote teacher assistance. Social distancing everywhere possible. Restaurant carryout/delivery. Everyone else, shoulder to the wheel.

      Many Americans are not aware of the US Public Health Service and what they do. They wear Navy uniforms and use their rank, though they are not under the chain of command of the Navy but are under the Surgeon General.

      As an SF medic I worked with them and received instruction/training from them at different times. For example the last operational leprosarium in the Continental US was at Carville, LA on a meander of the Mississippi river. I received instruction on Leprosy (Hanson’s Disease) there. They not only had patients there they also had extensive research activities there.

      That facility has since closed. With modern treatments there is no need for Leprosariums anymore. The permanent patients that had suffered permanent disabilities from the disease requiring continual care were moved to other facilities.

They have over a billion people and need to keep the factories running and people employed. Fauci and Birx and others echoing their alarmism may have collectively caused the President to react incorrectly and unnecessarily.(I think he is on to their perfidy but the next week or two will tell)

        So if we continue on the present course, we are removing our country from competing with China. Therefore our former market size will be shrunken far below the rest of the world. As such, China may think they can destroy us now without much further impact to their economy and simply dominate the rest of the world.

        It’s just a line of reasoning one could use to agree with the AT articles authors claim….

        I also disagree. The Chinese military simply does not have the to project power the way they US. Despite some of the hype one reads in our own press their Navy and Airforce are 2nd rate when compared to the US forces and their huge Army cannot come into play in any big way outside of their own immediate sphere of influence. China is not ready to take on the Big Dog in a direct general confrontation and their leaders know it.

    Once these Fauci models fail miserably (and we all hope they do), there will need to be a reckoning on model validation, auditing and regulation. You cannot continue to introduce poorly constructed models into the public arena.

    The prediction was 2.2 million (Imperial college), but I believe that Fauci now owns 100k – 250k estimate with current mitigation in place. How can we ever trust our public health officials again if it turns out much better?

    Of course time will tell, but I don’t see 100k-250k happening unless we count all deaths as COVID-19 deaths, which I wouldn’t put it past them at this point.

        The models are neither truth nor falsehood – they are models, based on certain assumptions which may or may not prove to be correct. (And often aren’t.) But they’re the only thing we have with which to predict the future. The only point at which we know whether a given model was or was not accurate is well after the fact … but of course that’s why we make models early.

        “They are what they are.” 🤷‍♂️ And, they are not a crystal ball.

        I don’t think that we can fairly say that Dr. Fauci nor any other public health official was being in any way “deliberately deceptive.” They are the responsible officials. They are close advisers to the President, who is the supreme commander and who does bear this responsibility himself.

        I personally think that Dr. Fauci and his colleagues have been incorrect, and that the course which President Trump decided to take was not the best. However, people do not play “Hail to the Chief” when I walk past …

          Mike I’d like to know if these models are adequately vetted. Major banks and financial institutions have a small army of model validators and auditors to vet model development.

          All models are wrong, some are useful. But also you can distort inputs to generate garbage output. I’m not saying there’s any intentional malfeasance happening but it would be nice to know if these public health models are adequately tested, validated and audited.

          Science depends on peer review, models don’t get a pass. There needs to be a protocol for validating a model. We do it since 2008 in finance.

            Scientific review is a flexible thing. And nobody is held legally or financially liable.

            Someone writes a grant proposal and it gets reviewed by experts selected by the granting organization. Someone writes a paper and it gets reviewed by secret experts selected by the editor. It usually works well, but there is a lot of room for abuse.

            And a lot of room for bias.

            Also, there is no uniform forcing of people to make their data available for review after publication. Depends on the government that paid for the research or the publication that prints the paper.

            Science has changed a lot since the days of inviting people to demonstrate their experiment at the Royal Academy in front of the interested members, and insisting that anybody should be able to repeat the experiment.

        • Yeah, but the problem is that, once the models get to the arena of public policy and mass media they are deified – and that’s partly the fault of the modelers, who are not without blame for that deification. Sure, if you get them alone – or among themselves at an academic conference – they will admit that the models are useful but limited tools, with many inherent flaws and potential pratfalls. But that well-grounded common sense goes out the window when they go asking for a new round of funding. Moreover, every other aspect of their ideological worldviews and commitments is pro-technocracy, so most of their caveats are empty, anyway.

      • True, but the difference here is that tons of lofos heard/watched/read these reports about the Wuhan Virus models. Most of these folks previously had little, if any, exposure to such socioeconomic models, so they were unaware of how these models repeatedly fail to be good predictive tools, while being utilized to support one government failure after another. But they are paying attention to THIS model. If/when this model fails, their ONLY experience with such modeling will be failure.

      ^^THIS^^ is evidently what happened in Italy and is probably happening in Spain as well…the numbers that we need to look at are TOTAL deaths year over year! Saying that 20K people died from “complications of COVID-19” in a particular area sounds scary but if 25K died from the “flu” in the same area the previous year and this year that number is dropped to 5K from the “flu” then was there actually an uptick in deaths or were they just categorized differently?

Her death is NOT going to get counted as “COVID-19 related” if I have anything to say about it!!

    I think a lot of people miss the point in that if our healthcare systems are designed for X amount of individuals at any given time depending on the time of year based on averages; the problem is this new virus will simply put many, many thousands of people in hospitals on top of the already sick. It isn’t hard to imagine how this would overwhelm hospitals, especially run the down ones in leftist run hellholes. If the system gets overwhelmed, people will die who may have over wise been saved. It’s prudent to stay on top of this situation and go above & beyond if necessary because A) the whole world has and B) in this day and age, it would be a political disaster that would make the political ramifications now seem small in comparison. I think the President has handled it perfectly thus far, in my opinion. The economy will come back, the supply lines will come back, Death is forever. And I don’t care if the patients had underlying symptoms, I don’t care if they were old or frail – It doesn’t matter. The MSM will use it against us all the same. The time now is to mitigate this disaster to the best of our ability and then we deal with the ramifications. In the end of all this we will find the USA’s number of fatalities per case much lower than Italy, France, UK, and Germany; vindication for the President.

      Trouble is … American hospitals aren’t actually being “overrun.” Yes, a certain number of people are dying with this disease; very, very few of it. Nearly everyone who contracts this disease recovers … leaving those who don’t.

      However, I think that this does require us to look again at our “for-profit” model of providing health care. I have never felt that this strategy serves patients, providers, or financial stakeholders. The stress produced by this fairly-ordinary pandemic (which, by the way, is not the only one going on right now) is clearly revealing big cracks in the wall.

        We are already seeing patients from downstate moved to an Albany hospital, just as I’ve been saying was possible all along.

        Locally, they are being very careful with revealing the actual number of patients in our other hospitals, actually sick in bed with Wuhan Flu.

        Besides, yes you can set up field hospitals. If they don’t suit the corona cases, put the other sick in them and free up entire buildings just for corona.

        The main issue is not having the staff get sick. It seems to me the staff would have to avoid crowds, etc. rather than everybody else.

        Saw a report last night on local TV (Pittsburgh) they interviewed the head of the ER Dept at our biggest hospital, Allegheny General. They are not only NOT overrun, they aren’t even busy! Neither are the other hospitals, & we have a hospital on practically every corner in this county. The report never ran again & wasn’t on their Facebook page either. Hummmm

        Our system not being designed is a feature, not a bug. Our system’s big problems comes from government involvement. Government payments, government mandates, government over regulation, government fiddles with insurance, and it controls how many hospitals and how many beds in hospitals are allowed.

        Even now, government failed to restock emergency supplies, government refused to provide enough ventilators over the years and hoarded their government stockpile while claiming they were in desperate need. (Note that government is local, state and federal. ) Speaking of federal, they badly bungled testing, forcing Trump to repeatedly step in and get their act in gear.

        Funny how government always forces the costs up and minimizes access when it can.

      That is the argument that they used for the whole “flatten the curve” impetus that has driven this shutdown. It presumes that the number of infected that require hospital care will be great and over tax the system. There is an old school computer term:GIGO

      The data they are starting with is garbage and the date it is spitting out is garbage. The media managed to hyperventilate people into believing that the only way to save the situation is this crazy shut down and “social distance”. The ONLY way that could be proved negative is to NOT do it, and then every death is hung around the neck of the politicians (regardless of whether or not this virus killed them). In other words, we are in a Catch-22 situation. One day I hope all the real information comes out so that people understand how duped they were so this never happens again.

        At this time, I do not believe the Chinese deliberately engineered and released a bio-weapon. I think they were doing experiments in a lab and the virus “got out” and then they lied about and the WHO covered for them and repeated their lies.

        By the time the virus got here, the Impeachment scam was falling apart and the Democrats were looking at having to decide between two cranky old white men in November… when voila, an outbreak of a new and very virulent strain of the flu (and I am NOT dismissing how ugly, serious, and deadly this particular virus is for a small percentage of the people who contract it) hits our country and the Left seizes on it as the way to destroy the economy, which was Donald Trump’s greatest accomplishment and would have guaranteed his reelection in a landslide.

        Add in the Chicken Little media, who are far more interested in peddling fear than reporting facts, and it became the perfect storm. No matter what he does, Donald Trump will be blamed – shut down the economy and he loses his signature issue but don’t shut it down and every single death will be blamed on him!

        I pray daily that God will somehow turn this for good and I pray that those who took advantage of fear and lies in order to harm the country and enrich themselves and their benefactors WILL be held accountable!!

          I don’t think it is a bio weapon either. If it is, they are as bad at them as they are at making everything else. I tend to believe it was being worked on in the lab for testing, totally legit, and that it probably did end up on the wet market and spread from there. Not only does it fit Occam’s Razor, it fits with what we know. The best lies are seeded with truth after all.

          I think you might be off on your time lime a little. I’m pretty sure the virus was here long before impeachment fell apart. It took them awhile to figure out that they could use this (i.e. Pelosi in Chinatown, DeBlasio and the parade etc etc), but once they figured out they could scare the crap outta people with manipulated numbers and data, they have been “all in”.

The difference between developing a bug to get rid of their excess elderly, and developing a bug to remove the existing leaders is very slight. And killing the elderly won’t help you win any battles.

        I find it interesting that they are not overtly selling the advantages of curve flattening with these models. It is supposedly built in, but they don’t present it as an option that can be turned on or off. Except for the 2.2 million death fraud, there is no ‘order a shutdown and you save so many thousands of lives’.

        I think our people pushed the fraud once they realized things weren’t having as large an effect as they had hoped. (The fraud was created to compel leaders to do what they wanted.) Dropping a scaled up Spanish flu down from 2 million to 100,000, or 95% is heroic. Dropping a scaled up asian flu down from 200,000 to 100,000 or 50% doesn’t look nearly as good, and may not justify the horrendous costs which will have their own death toll. And not dropping 200,000 deaths to anything is outright disaster.

    My 35 yr old son has tested positive for the chicom wuhan plague. He got the results back two days ago. It took over a week (we’re in CA). He was only tested because his partner is pregnant and a nurse. He is well into the recovery phase. Two more days of no symptoms and he can come out of quarantine.

    His symptoms were moderate – low grade fever (100.2 range), cough (not pleasant), shortness of breath and aches and pains. Lasted nearly three weeks. Partner has shown no symptoms and it has been plenty long enough for them to show up.

    Fingers crossed.

    One other note: I’ve read that being male and/or having type A blood puts you at higher risk of infection. My son is type A. fwiw

      Almost everyone in California has the Wuhan virus! My son, son-in-law and myself have the same symptoms. My son works with a federal prosecutor who was tested positive along with his wife. It’s a bad flu and we’ve been had. The people dying are for the most part at death’s door step already.

      Mike Pence said last week that all states were supposed to be reporting how many beds total (regular and ICU) they have…how many are currently filled, and what percentage of those are COVID-19 patients.

      I have yet to see those numbers anywhere and the computer system here in King County has mysteriously “crashed” so they are unable to report how many tests are being done and what percentage are negative! How convenient!!

      I have been asking for specific bed counts for weeks and no one in the media seems to think it is important info but I think it will be much harder to continue shutdowns if, as I suspect, our healthcare systems are NOT in fact being overrun at all!

      My state, OH, reports positive results, hospitalizations and deaths daily like clock work. However, they inconsistently report negative results, usually every 2 or 3 days. They are not reporting number of recovered cases. Also, when reporting hospitalizations, they only report a cumulative number and not a current number, leading the uniformed to believe that these resources are being consumed at greater rate. Gotta feed the panic.

        It is NOT a death panel to acknowledge that life is, in fact, 100% fatal and no amount of money or care is going to change that fact!! My mother is 87 years old and has end stage dementia…I would NEVER advocate “putting her out of her misery” but if she were to develop COVID, or any other illness, I would refuse all heroic measures, including a ventilator, I would ask that she be kept comfortable, and I would allow the natural process of dying to take place, since it is going anyway, no matter what I do!!

        If she passes away in the next couple of months, which is highly likely, her death will be due to her disease – and if she happens to test positive for Coronavirus, I do NOT want her included in the media induce hysteria that is happening right now!! Nor would she!!

      This is overhyped. Anecdotal story. I have not found anybody who has the virus. I have been hearing hospital preparation for weeks now. Have relatives worked in the hospitals. Pretty quiet. Not overwhelm. I think the politicians are in hysterical mode. I am sorry to hear that PDJT bought the BS but I guess he has no choice. DEmonrats has the stranglehold of the media.

        Don’t think there was any other way to get it introduced and it still is not passed. The democrats want to load this bill with pork. I don’t believe that will happen. The US needs to upgrade its infrastructure to lower the costs of production. Infrastructure should include upgrading manufacturing. BUT MUST BE LIMMITED TO THE UNITED STATES.

        The Japanese economy boomed after WW2 with their replacement of old manufacturing equipment. German factories were upgraded also after WW2. Chinese factories were upgraded by US global corporations/COC starting in 1998….

        I do project massive property tax increases as the states are BANKRUPTED by unemployment compensation. So the government prints lots of money and we have inflation. But then that’s what happens after ever Word War.

    So why not reach out to them and see if they can answer the following…..

    1) How many patients are hospitalized with COVID-19?

    2) Is your hospital providing the hydroxychloroquine treatment to these patients?

    3) If so, how many have recovered and been released?

      Every doctor and nurse that works for a hospital knows you do not give any data to anyone, much less to media. Also, that type of data is only going to be known by those towards the top of the medical administration. I am going to guess that that strata of medical people have been advised not to talk. It could just be they don’t want to chance giving false hope or panic and it could be more sinister in that the libs are squelching good news in order to bring down the American health system and President Trump. You would think hospitals would want to be more independent but, in the last 20 years they have leaned the other way in order to get on the “Ginormous” Medicare and Medicaid band wagon.

    NOBODY who works at the 5 local hospitals is posting anything on FB about what’s actually happening, boots on the ground.
    I keep asking how are they doing, do they have enough beds, are they giving out the medicine
    No one is answering.
