Boy isn’t globalism swell. I guess this what they meant by “think locally act globally.” Or that wonderful chestnut “diversity is our strength.” Or you’re a Xenophobe, racist, Nazi, because you had the temerity to think that perhaps it’s not a good idea to allow an invasion of the West by the third world (I include China in that). Decimating the ability to make things for ourselves and be dependent on a hostile Communist dictatorship for our medicine, what could possibly go wrong?

How about those sanctuary cities, boy they always lead the way…too oblivion.

This is a NWO (New World Order) inspired Utopia sold to us by our politicians, academia, and most especially the MSM. So as we sit in our homes with our cheap Chinese crap, just think of the savings, and what buying a tee shirt for $3.00 instead of $5.00 really means, as we face death and near destruction of our once booming economy. Oh, and you can take comfort knowing that Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Jeff Bezos, Tim Cook, the Walton family, et al will still have their billions and will again profit mightily from our latest despair,

Remember: What wouldn’t they do? …Trillions are at stake.

After World War II, Americans refused to buy goods that were made in Japan.

So, the Japanese changed the name of a city to USA, without the periods in between the letters. They shipped everything that they could out of that city to the US.

I’m not sure how long that went on before Americans caught on. If it happened before, it will happen again.

Not only is the United States ready for a industrial Re-revolution, but I think we are also ready for a resurgence of craftsmanship and individual artisan work.

I’ve never seen so much defective/cracked cast iron pipe and fittings as that which was made in China. At times, almost an entire pallet of 90s, 45s or tees was defective.

Same goes for the Chinese copper. Some fittings were so thin in parts they had dents in them.

Horrible industrial and commercial hardware, and that’s just the plumbing.

        • Jim- I think more than anything else, the movement to “Buy American” is going to screw the Chinese.
Right now there are millions of US retailers (myself included) who have been buying merchandise directly from Chinese vendors for resale. I hate to admit it, but it’s true. They completely dominate many of the E-commerce marketplaces including Amazon, Ebay and Ali Baba which is all Chinese sellers.
Even supposedly “handmade” markets like Etsy have been swamped with Chinese merchandise that’s falsely labeled “vintage” or “handmade.”
I believe we are going to see a turnaround in the very near future. I will be closing my little brick and mortar gift shop but if I ever open another one, I would only carry American made products.

More broadly, just as this virus has minimal effect on individuals who are otherwise healthy, but is devastating to those with serious chronic conditions,….

The effect on a countries ECONOMIC, Government, and CULTURAL systems is severely ‘tested’or ‘challenged’.

The strong survived with minimal to no long term damage, and are even stronger.

        Those with chronic weaknesses succumb.

Free market capitalism, Federalism and Democratic Republic (US) vs Centrally controlled CONmunism of EU and CHI-NA are both being severely tested.

And the whole world is seeing the results; Italexit is brewing, as italians hard hit by cv, are,…let us say not at all impressed by Brussels responce.

More broadly, doesn’t the idea to eliminate passport controls seem like,a great idea? Italy signing on to CHI-NA’s OBOR initiative, and import 300,000 chinese workers, yeah another GREAT idea.

American ingenuity is showing every day, with mit students developing a design for a $100 ventilator, others developing a method for large scale decontamination of ppe, etc.

        And, of coarse production capability.
At the outset of WW2, FDR said the,U.S. would produce 50,000 airplanes/ year.
Most thought it hyperbole, as U.S. was making less than 500 at the time.

FDR WAS wrong; at its height the U.S. Produced 100,000 airplanes a year!

This virus may well be the nail in the coffin for globalism, as its inherent flaws are exposed, in real time, for all to see.
Its an inherently inferior, weaker system, unhealthy and unable to withstand the challenge.

Is it too soon to say “RIP, GLOBALISM”?

My guess is that they have shut off phones anywhere where there is a hotspot in China. Only news coming out comes from the government. Internet chatter of massive deaths does not add up (though I am sure deaths are much, much higher than CCP have admitted).

What are the thoughts down there. Originally it was within 6 feet of someone’s breath, not necessarily a cough. Then there’s the surface contamination.

President Trump is considering putting a quarantine on NYC and Cuomo is squirming. Cuomo is personally responsible for much of the hysteria surrounding the ‘pandemic Wuhan virus’ outbreak. He has been over the top in demanding the US government treat his State as ‘ground zero’ and thusly providing New York with more of everything in daily increasing quantities than any other States are getting on a per capita basis. PDJT is just sounding this New York quarantine because he suspects Cuomo’s near hysterical tirades are more political than reality motivated, and PDJT wants to let Cuomo know that maybe he should be more judicious about what he publicly wishes for, because he just might get it. I don’t think Trump will quarantine New York, but he wants Cuomo to know that this is a possibility, especially as a response to Cuomo’s constant crying of wolf.

Many years ago (the 60s?) I read a book called ‘life on man’. it was about all the microbes and other invisible things that are an essential part of our lives. Kudos to all of you who take probiotics, for instance. We ‘host’ germs and viruses and fungi and parasites. The trick is keeping them all playing nice with each other and with us – in balance – doing the right job in the right part of colon, for instance.
My – retired – MD hubby told me long ago that in his experience people did not die from their cancer, they mostly died from an overgrowth of candida albicans. Meaning, the patent’s immune system could not stop the overgrowth. As I said, this was many years ago.
Sounds to me much like what is happening with Cv19. Reports like those with good immunity don’t seem to be affected, or not much worse than a common cold.
I mentally support those who promote the use of nutrients that boost the immune system for self defense.
In addition to our daily supplement regime, we also use lots of coconut oil. both internally and on the skin. look up the benefits (coconutoil.com is a great resource) – like disabling replication of many viruses. it is also anti bacterial, anti parasitic and makes the skin beautiful.
If you believe any of this can be true it explains the possibie truths that someone can test positive and not be sick, that ‘herb immunity’ can develop, that many can/will die ‘with’ the virus but not necessarily ‘because’ of it – and many other seemingly ‘hard to believe’ ‘facts’
In other words, all the past ‘infections’, like bubonic plague, polio, TB and measles are still around. still live with us or nearby, and don’t particularly bother us any more, as they did at the height of their devastation.
So yes, in case I didn’t make myself clear, I believe that much of what is reported is an attempt to create a panic. Not that the virus isn’t real. Not that it isn’t causing big problems in much of our population, just that we WILL survive and be better off going forward.
In fact, reading so many great posts here, it seems to me much is being learned from this world wide pandemic. The ‘source’, how it is spread, how it hides until it shows symptoms, what works to slow or control it, what maybe ‘treats’ it – and so much more. IMHO we will be much better prepared for the next ‘invasion’.
Hey – have a great 5th Sunday in Lent. Easter – Resurrection – is on the way.

Good news that Justin from Canada’s wife recovered in 2 weeks from her corona but yet America, according to latest figures from whatever bureaucracy these figures are released, only shows 3,238 “Recovered” while 118,359 cases are still active, a recovery rate of only 2.6%.
    Italy’s recovery rate, 15%; Spain 20%; Germany 15%; France 16%; Canada 9%.

Really, only 2.6% in America? After what we have witnessed for the past four years, one might question the recovery rate. Surely we don’t have less qualified doctors and hospitals? And across the pond, the only country lower than the US is the Boris ‘Brexit’ Johnson’s UK at less than 1% recovery. And Boris?
Wouldn’t they just love to damage him and get back into the EU. I smell a rat.

I don’t know why they post recovered numbers because they aren’t really tracking them. That is why they are so low everywhere. Eventually, confirmed cases – deaths = recovered, and we aren’t seeing the posted numbers converging in that direction.

That’s because they test them and send them home. People recover on their own and, like all of us, are too lazy to report back that they are back to normal.

How China, The WHO, The CDC and the Mainstream Media Worked Together to Create the Greatest Pandemic Hysteria in World History
March 29, 2020, by Jim Hoft

It’s time for Americans to stand up and demand common sense in spite of what China, the WHO, the CDC and the Media are telling us. The coronavirus is not even as deadly as the flu, it’s not nearly as deadly as swine flu, so maybe we should turn off our TV sets and just get back to work?

    Grocery store SITREP:

    Yesterday (3/38) about 2:00 p.m. (eastern).

Publix: No paper stuff; low on detergents; no eggs; milk and other dairy okay; low on canned goods, but some variety available; no rice or dry beans; fresh meat supply okay, but only the more expensive cuts available; deli and in-store bakery good; produce good. Shopper level not too bad. Very friendly (typical) employees, no waiting for a cash register.

Winn-Dixie (two miles from the above Publix): Paper goods delivered while I was there, scored some TP, didn’t need paper towels; low on detergents; plenty of dairy, including eggs; same as Publix above on other items, except deli which has never been very good; not many shoppers; only three registers (of six) open; no smiles from employees (typical).

Throughout this, so far, have had no problems finding what we need. Had just bought a pack of TP in February so no urge to hoard. Was down to four rolls yesterday and now with a new 12-pack should be good for several weeks.

Off to the produce stand later for a few veggies and fruit.

    Have a great day!

Here’s a thought. If Hydroxycloroquine combined with a Z-pack is effective on this coronavirus, might it also be effective for treating “common” flu? Or even the seasonal cold?

Most of us will be better off by betting on our own immune system. This ‘treatment’ has to be done in the hospital. The best chance at survival is to stay out of the hospital until there are no alternatives.
