Thursday March 26th – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

    His Great Love

    By Pastor Kevin Sadler

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us” (Eph. 2:4).

God’s Word declares that all have sinned (Rom. 3:23), and sin separates us from a holy God who can never allow one sin in His presence. Unless our sins are taken away, sin will separate us eternally from Him in the lake of fire.

Singer Steven Curtis Chapman once said, “In the gospel, we discover we are far worse off than we thought, and far more loved than we ever dreamed.”

God is rich in mercy and loves us with a “great love.” Out of that great love, He sought our greatest and highest good, even though we have nothing in ourselves to commend ourselves to Him. And He sent His perfect Son to die for us, to bear the full punishment for our sins at the Cross (I Cor. 15:3,4).

God asks a very simple thing for salvation today: just believe that Christ died for you, for your sins personally, and that He rose again, and you are saved by grace through faith, your sins are forgiven, and you are made righteous by God. It’s been said, “The redeeming death of the Savior is sufficient for all, deficient for none, but efficient only for those who believe.” Have you believed?

    https://www.bereanbiblesociety.org/his-great-love/

Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

    Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

    1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

2 Corinthians 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

American friends, to give you a comparison here is a short video that shows the Corona situation and regulations in Israel. Remember Israel has about 8 millions citizens. As a note, in Israel they are doing something that would never be approved in the US. They deployed the Intelligence agencies to hack the phones of the sick people and track their motions in present and past. Then people who were in contact or shared places with the sick get text messages to stay home and quarantine. Also unlike the US which is going to deliver financial aide for its citizens in Israel there is still no aide. There is a political stalemate which in its way which hopefully will resolve. Yes, it’s a pandemic, Israel is in the other side of the planet.

I think the tracking by cell phone history makes perfect sense. It all comes down to trust, doesn’t it? In emergencies, like during the Civil War and WWII we have had a loss of some of our civil rights, temporarily.

If only we could trust them to restore the rights.

We used to trust our intelligence agencies and our media. We assumed they had the nation’s best interest at heart, just like the typical American. The corruption and politicization of the IC and the media has come into sharp focus, and it has made the response to the pandemic so much more difficult.

President Trump has to face this constant headwind, and has done a magnificent job.

I knew about the donation of the medicine from Israel and have told others about it, mentioning the pharmaceutical company Teva. I personally have other medications made by Teva also.

Yes, intelligence agencies in Israel are still trustable. Not so the FBI and CIA who made effort to remove Trump.
It’s temporary and will lift in a number of days. I don’t think they have the time and resources to keep tracking Israelis anyways. Their hands are full of anti terror work that they do very well.

FOR THOSE THAT STILL BELIEVE COVID-19 IS THE FLU

    Corona Virus
Good read from an immunologist at Johns Hopkins University

Not really feeling sick and do not want to be..but if you are feeling confused as to why
Coronavirus is a bigger deal than Seasonal flu? Here it is in a nutshell. I hope this helps. Feel free
to share this to others who don’t understand…
It has to do with RNA sequencing…. I.e. genetics.
Seasonal flu is an “all human virus”. The DNA/RNA chains that make up the virus are recognized
by the human immune system. This means that your body has some immunity to it before
it comes around each year… you get immunity two ways…through exposure to a virus, or by
    getting a flu shot.
Novel viruses, come from animals…. the WHO tracks novel viruses in animals, (sometimes for
years watching for mutations). Usually these viruses only transfer from animal to animal (pigs
in the case of H1N1) (birds in the case of the Spanish flu). But once, one of these animal viruses
mutates, and starts to transfer from animals to humans… then it’s a problem, Why? Because
we have no natural or acquired immunity.. the RNA sequencing of the genes inside the virus
isn’t human, and the human immune system doesn’t recognize it so, we can’t fight it off.
Now…. sometimes, the mutation only allows transfer from animal to human, for years it’s only
transmission is from an infected animal to a human before it finally mutates so that it can
now transfer human to human… once that happens..we have a new contagion phase. And
depending on the fashion of this new mutation, thats what decides how contagious, or how
    deadly it’s gonna be..
H1N1 was deadly….but it did not mutate in a way that was as deadly as the Spanish flu. It’s RNA
was slower to mutate and it attacked its host differently, too.
    Fast forward.
Now, here comes this Coronavirus… it existed in animals only, for nobody knows how long…but
one day, at an animal market, in Wuhan China, in December 2019, it mutated and made the
jump from animal to people. At first, only animals could give it to a person… But here is the
scary part…. in just TWO WEEKS it mutated again and gained the ability to jump from human
to human. Scientists call this quick ability, “slippery”
This Coronavirus, not being in any form a “human” virus (whereas we would all have some
natural or acquired immunity). Took off like a rocket. And this was because, Humans have no
known immunity…doctors have no known medicines for it.
And it just so happens that this particular mutated animal virus, changed itself in such a way
the way that it causes great damage to human lungs..
That’s why Coronavirus is different from seasonal flu, or H1N1 or any other type of influenza….
this one is slippery AF. And it’s a lung eater…And, it’s already mutated AGAIN, so that we now
have two strains to deal with, strain s, and strain L….which makes it twice as hard to develop a
    vaccine.
We really have no tools in our shed, with this. History has shown that fast and immediate
closings of public places has helped in the past pandemics. Philadelphia and Baltimore were
reluctant to close events in 1918 and they were the hardest hit in the US during the Spanish
    Flu.
Factoid: Henry VIII stayed in his room and allowed no one near him, till the Black Plague
passed…(honestly…I understand him so much better now). Just like us, he had no tools in his
    shed, except social isolation…
And let me end by saying….right now it’s hitting older folks harder… but this genome is so
slippery…if it mutates again (and it will). Who is to say, what it will do next.
Be smart folks… acting like you’re unafraid is so not needed right now.
#flattenthecurve. Stay home folks… and share this to those that just are not catching on.

I saw last night that conjunctivitis is one of the symptoms also. I know this, it’s some bad stuff. If an older person gets it they better get help fast if they want to live.
It stays in the lungs, trapped because everything swells up in the airways.
Here’s the ‘thing’ most Doctors haven’t seen it so they have no idea what it is or how to treat it. It has very slight differences in symptoms and I assume because it’s not been introduced to the body before, and the reaction is different depending on the individual. I don’t know, maybe because it mutates so rapidly and finds weakness. Like conjunctivitis in 1 to 2% of those with it. Some no fever, which makes me wonder if our bodies recognize it to attack it?

      “Because
we have no natural or acquired immunity”

I don’t care if this was posted by Johns Hopkins.

If you catch the Coronavirus, fight it off, and go on with your life, then you now have “acquired immunity.”

That is the definition of “acquired immunity.”

If you are exposed well enough, we can assume the virus jumped on you and tried to replicate. If it failed, it was because you had “natural immunity.”

This is the definition of “natural immunity.”

We have empirical evidence making it perfectly clear that people are fighting this virus off, and are living. Therefore “we” are getting “acquired immunity.”

The elderly are at more risk partly because ***WHEN WE ARE OLDER, OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM DOES NOT RESPOND AS STRONGLY TO INVADING VIRUSES*****

This is a known, recognized fact. It is why older adults are more susceptible to seasonal flu. It is why the flu shot is drastically less effective in older adults than middle age or young people.

Generally, ALL of your biological functions slow down as you age. This is due to slower cell division, generally. This is why our skin becomes less lustrous, we heal more slowly from cuts and scrapes, etc.

As a complementary matter, any drug designed to boost cell division / tissue repair and growth, such as “ERT” Premarin” “estrogen replacement therapy” and “Forteo” “teriparatide” WILL cause cancer – cancer is unregulated cell division. These drugs work by boosting cell division, and they cause cancer when that boost goes beyond the body’s capacity to detect and control excessive cell / tissue growth.

THESE ARE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF TISSUE LIFE AND OF CANCER.

Older adults can, and have, survived Corona, but not all do. Either way: we humans CAN get “acquired immunity.”

AND Diamond Princess data show strong evidence that many of us may have “natural immunity.”

The link below is to the abstract of the article with Diamond Princess data. The “pdf” choice will take you to THE ACTUAL ARTICLE, where the 4,000 people on the quarantoined cruise were ALL tested, with MANY who tested positive having
      NO symptoms.

Bottom line: We need to appreciate the various pieces of info and advice, but we need to have our thinking caps on.

Why is a Hopkins person bloviating misleading info?

Some of us know this, and some don’t. Academics get “rep” by getting published, but media appearances are also a feather in the cap. Sad but true.

In case any one forgets, it was precipitated by one of our traitorous ex Prime minister’s – Teresa May, fully endorsed by her foreign Sec at the time called Boris Johnson.
It was in “retaliation” for the “alleged” poisoning of a double Russian Agent Sergi Skirpel and his daughter in Saisbury – close to Porton Down Britain’s Bio warfare lab.
There has been no proof shown that it was Russia Russia Russia.

Except that if this novel coronavirus is so dangerous because we have no developed immunity to it, how come the overwhelming majority of humans who get infected with it don’t succumb to it? Or never even show much if any symptoms?

Surely the statistics indicate clearly that there is a natural immunity to it via our basic healthy physiological functions; functions that naturally deteriorate with age or from other diseases.

    VISION BY PERSONAL PURITY

“Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God.” Matt. v. 8

Purity is not innocence, it is much more. Purity is the outcome of sustained spiritual sympathy with God. We have to grow in purity. The life with God may be right and the inner purity remain unsullied, and yet every now and again the bloom on the outside may be sullied. God does not shield us from this possibility, because in this way we realize the necessity of maintaining the vision by personal purity. If the spiritual bloom of our life with God is getting impaired in the tiniest degree, we must leave off everything and get it put right. Remember that vision depends on character – THE PURE IN HEART see God.

God makes us pure by His sovereign grace, but we have something to look after, this bodily life by which we come in contact with other people and with other points of view, it is these that are apt to sully. Not only must the inner sanctuary be kept right with God, but the outer courts as well are to be brought into perfect accord with the purity God gives us by His grace. The spiritual understanding is blurred immediately the outer court is sullied. If we are going to retain personal contact with the Lord Jesus Christ, it will mean there are some things we must scorn to do or to think, some legitimate things we must scorn to touch.

A practical way of keeping personal purity unsullied in relation to other people is to say to yourself – That man, that woman, PERFECT IN CHRIST JESUS! That friend, that relative, PERFECT IN CHRIST JESUS!

We’ll develop tests and vaccines and as the novelty wears off of the novelty virus we’ll go back to waiting for the next season in the medical reality show we live in.

I’m seeing, as of yesterday, a figure of just under 23 cases of active (by test) COVID-19 per 100,000 in the US. Panic ensues. We have 1.1 million guesstimated HIV cases in the US walking around, some 39,000 new HIV cases are diagnosed yearly and the CDC covers its bases by saying that about 14% of those walking around with HIV don’t know they have it. And what’s the mortality rate of HIV compared to COVID-19?

We’re in our latest syndicated Disease of the Moment, we’ve just put a lot more steam into this one. It will settle down, we’ll repair the economic and social damage and be back to our old way of ripping the country apart socially, culturally and politically in no time.

This was allegedly done to reduce “trolling” BUT they already had Moderators and a reporting system that could have handled matters fairly, if they tried.

The REAL effect was that people who did NOT subscribe to the “Group Think” were afraid to speak because they could now be doxed, stalked, and harassed at their homes and places of employment. And, yes, that DID occur, even before the change, if the rabid leftists gleaned enough clues to determine their prey’s true identity.

be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
    May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do you, O prince of the heavenly host,
    by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits
who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

So my husband possibly is positive for the novel corona virus, I’ll just call it covid , and I’ve been getting a memo ready to send to friends and family with how it all went down so they can be informed from our experience and have an idea what to look out for. I was waiting to share until we had the test result but I’m starting to think we may never get it. And because the ER doc believed my husband was positive, and because time’s wasting, and because I consider you all friends and I know from lurking that many of you are in the vulnerable category, I’m going to go ahead and share here, just keep in mind that this is only one story from the many who’ve been sick, so consider this one data point.

Some background, we live in a small community with a large research and land grant university, so very diverse nationalities, and most of the students and faculty and associated support people leave during extended breaks such as Christmas break and travel literally all around the world, and had all returned to town and campus mid January. The covid had gotten on my radar around then, either Sundance wrote a post or else you guys were posting about it in the comments, the treehouse is the only place I go for news. Anyway I thought it was going to be like the swine flu that my little family had all gotten, so I prepared for that, but this isn’t like flu at all, and here are probably too many details but I want you to know what to look for.

My husband is 47, not a smoker, not overweight, good BP, no health problems. So this is what happened:

March 10th my husband felt ok except he had a sharp cramp in his right lower lung, and his lungs felt “full”. Felt like he might be coming down with something, you know that sort of funny feeling you get when you’re getting sick. Bad headache. Stayed home from work and never went back.

March 11th fever 102.2, coughing but not too much, lungs felt full like they have something in them and hurt.

Match 12th symptoms the same but more coughing, dry cough. He called his primary care doctor to schedule an appointment because aware that these seem like covid symptoms, but the doctor said since he hadn’t traveled he probably just had a cold and should rest.

March 13th through 18th fever down to 99.9 but lungs hurt like they are burning and feel full, really really tired, coughing gradually diminished but never completely went away and always a dry cough no phlegm at all.

March 19th fever was gone, that morning he said he felt better, thought he had turned the corner, except his lungs still hurt and still had same painful “cramp” and his lungs felt full. Two hours later he suddenly without warning starting gasping for breath as if he had just sprinted uphill, gasping for air and couldn’t stop, his lips turned blue and he was losing consciousness, fortunately our teen found him and called 911, unfortunately rescue thought he was having a cardiac event possibly exposing more people to covid. In ER he was tested for covid and all the other things I don’t remember. And admitted to ICU right away for septic shock and acute respiratory failure with hypoxia. The parameter for sepsis was critically high lactic acid in case you need to know that, his white cell count was always good. His coughing became constant in the hospital. His BP was grossly high and CO2 was fluctuating critically high then critically low. He was treated with IV Azithromycin and albuterol inhaler, kept until March 21. The ER doc kept him until March 21 waiting on the covid result, but finally released because he was stable without a ventilator, prescribed with oral Azithromycin and albuterol. Doc said he believed him to be positive for covid but couldn’t make that diagnosis without the test result, so called it “some type of viral pneumonia” and ordered home isolation.

March 26th no fever, still coughing but not too often, still dry cough, lungs still cramp and burn and feel “full”. Hospital called today and reported expect test result next week. The test results are taking too long, so when you read that there are not many new cases just remember that untold cases are still pending test results.

So from our experience be alert for fever and painful lungs, maybe dry coughing but not necessarily as much as you’d expect, extreme fatigue. There were no upper respiratory symptoms at all.

Some tips from the ER doc:

He said in Italy they noticed a crisis about day 10, he thought my husband had a crisis. Apparently some people get better at this point and some people crisis, so keep that in mind (not trying to scare you or be dramatic).

Family members use separate bathrooms and bedrooms if possible, someone move to the sofa if necessary and seal up toothpaste and toothbrushes in separate ziplock bags if necessary.

Use acetaminophen NOT ibuprofen. They used Robitussen in the ICU for coughing.

Clean surfaces after every use. Remember things like the refrigerator door handle and electronic devices.

Heat will kill it, so if you normally hang laundry to dry then use a clothes dryer if at all possible.

Unfortunately a lot of primary care doctors are just like my husbands, that’s why people end up in the ER, doc said same was happening in Italy and how hospitals get overrun. So maybe push your primary care doctor a little bit if you have the symptoms. Hospitals are trying to keep people out, that’s why my husband was sent home as soon as he was stabilized. Just because your hospital is a ghost town doesn’t mean there aren’t sick people in your community. There are a lot of people not reported because they are waiting on test results.

Now having said all that, we don’t believe this is worth destroying the economy. The real problem is lack of testing and the lack of fast results. It’s unbelievable that other countries have faster testing and treatment while Fauci and CDC still hemming and hawing. We trust President Trump and are sure he will bring our country through this.

A stunning account, in my view. Hope his recovery continues and he improves.

I was walking along the street today (what else is there to do?) feeling rather forlorn, events in the world and in my personal life have gotten me down. My church closing had weakened my already shaky faith, I was thinking maybe I shouldn’t go there anymore, but where would I go, do I even really believe and all that. Still praying anyway, asking God why not give me some kind of sign if I’m on the right track?
A short distance up ahead there was writing on the sidewalk, in colored chalk. I stopped to read it. It said “IN CHRIST ALONE ALL HOPE IS FOUND”.

One of the few hymns I know, btw.

Bendix. Hope you feel better soon.
Are you getting enough sleep? and nutrition? For me, those are two big factors in mood.
I don’t believe as most people believe; doctrines often come across as funny to me.
Yet there are basic principles that hold my faith and comfort me.
      Wishing you well Bendix

Thank you, wondering. The disruption in routine has interfered with my sleep and eating habits somewhat.
I think it’s the time spent in my own head that’s the worst.
