My work takes me to the south bay area regularly, and of course there are a lot of Indians there. And while they smartly keep quiet about their political leanings a lot of the time, I assure they are a lot more aligned with us than you would imagine.

One of the smartest things he could do is be open about ensuring American tech jobs are staffed by Americans, while also streamlining immigration from friendly places and insuring a faster path to citizenship – nearly ALL of the Indians I know would jump at the chance to become citizens, but they are forced through a ridiculous and fully broken immigration system that they observe rewards illegal activity and punishes those who try to follow the rules.

Amazing! This is wonderful, beautiful and important, but…Please Lord watch and keep our President, First Lady and extended family as they make this important trip. Please Lord bring them safely home as their fight against evil in our country has only just begun. Thank you Lord for these all the many blessings of life, watch and keep our great President Trump see them safely home. Amen.

  3. This is one of the most positive and beautiful state visits that any American president has accomplished, yet look at the press coverage in the Muck-stream Media that acts like it’s nothing.

UK Daily Mail has some nice photos and the article isn’t bad.

Our US media does not seem to do pictures anymore. I can remember when there was a media stream for just about everything. Life Magazine used to be cover to cover photos. The Daily Mail is one of the only places left that still does this.

Somehow the US news has become nothing but ‘opinion’ packaged as news. Who wants to read that crap?

Even the evening news is ‘video from wherever’ but it is just a paid actor standing in front of a camera giving an opinion. Think about the guy standing in the water filled ditch reporting on ‘flooding’ while the kids ride their bicycles on the road behind him. No pictures, no videos, just paid actors rendering an opinion. Pathetic.

      • sailor- AGREE. It is very sad.

Let’s face it- newspapers across the country are now going out of business because of their total politicization Leftward.
Nobody wants to read that crap so they no longer buy the paper. Even Buffet is selling off all of his newspaper holdings.
Plus the idiot young people don’t know how to enjoy reading a newspaper or a real book.
The school libraries have become “media centers” that are not allowed to have books.
They have to feed kids’ addictions to computers, smart phones, etc. so they can inject the propaganda more easily.

Just watched Trump’s stadium speech and was thrilled with it. Beautifully written, it was a paen to the best of India. It’s not just pushing trade, it’s celebrating the rights of individuals to make their own political decisions, while giving due reverence to the past and to the foundation of ideals. Absolutely magnificent speech.

While I liked Trump’s speech, I thought it was just a little heavy on military/terrorist/weapons talk, and how much is being spent on all of that. Looked like he was losing some people as it went on.

But I try not to question POTUS’ speeches, tweets, and methods too much… his instincts seem to be better than all the critics so far!

The citizens of India are wary of Pakistan, who bases the Taliban in their country, no doubt the mention of terrorism was with this backdrop in mind, and the purchase of defensive weapons by India was in reference to India defending itself from Pakistan.

I grew up in an area with lots and lots of Indian immigrants. Many of them (Hindus) attended Catholic school with me. Like Ronald Reagan famously said of the Hispanics, Indians belong in the Republican party. They have strong families and they work hard. Education is paramount. They are excellent neighbors. But many (most)? American Indians who are political lean very Democratic, thanks to the public school and university indoctrination camps. I hope this visit will tip things in the right direction. It could go a long way to Trump possibly capturing Jersey in 2020, but maybe I’m dreaming?

Many of my neighbors are from India. They are very friendly and kind.
Indians are not Muslim. They are mostly Hindu.

Hindu describes a web of customs, obligations, traditions, and ideals (dharma) that far exceeds the Western tendency to think of religion primarily as a system of beliefs.

A common way in which English-speaking Hindus often distance themselves from that frame of mind is to insist that Hinduism is not a religion but a way of life.

Across the sweep of Indian religious history, at least five elements have given shape to the Hindu religious tradition: doctrine, practice, society, story, and devotion. These five elements, to adopt a typical Hindu metaphor, are understood as relating to one another as strands in an elaborate braid. Moreover, each strand develops out of a history of conversation, elaboration, and challenge.

Hence, in looking for what makes the tradition cohere, it is sometimes better to locate central points of tension than to expect clear agreements on Hindu thought and practice.

Basically Hindu’s believe in your spirit guiding you, not books or strict systems.

That is why over the years many famous people have traveled to India to speak and experience their way of life.

The Beatles, Brad Pitt, and hundreds of others that have traveled to India have had ” life changing” experiences.

Hindu’s and Muslims have been fighting each other for centuries. Mostly on the Pakistan India border.

“Hindu describes a web of customs, obligations, traditions, and ideals (dharma) that far exceeds the Western tendency to think of religion primarily as a system of beliefs.”

In the current context, it looks to have been largely narrowed to regions and cultural identity with hardline differentiation most pronounced on the religious belief aspect. Modi and the BJP have reportedly been very purposeful in pushing the secular state in the direction of Hindu religion and culture support as a primary priority, with freedom of religion issues rising as a result. It’s the Hindutva push that has evidently used religion to work against the pluralist / freedom construct that respects the rights of all, which is well beyond representing national interests in matters such as trade and defense.

Even calling it a ‘namaste’ rally in a welcome a world leader appears to be telling. The term is a religious one and roughly translates to ‘the god in me greets the god in you’ (which given the implications isn’t one that people should think is just saying howdy in a different language). Emblazoning such an event with such a term seems to send a clear message consistent with the objectives of Hindutva and the BJP.

Here’s an article with a little more on Modi, BJP, and a tie-in to a former presidential candidate:

We have quite a lot in Houston. Pakistani’s too. Don’t let ANYONE fool you-they are left-wing and vote almost 90% democrat. It is a ‘tribal’ thing with many of them. If the leaders say vote D, they do so unquestioningly.

For decades, India was the leader of the “Non-Aligned” faction in the UN (Actually the USSR’s cheerleading section and allies; it really meant “not aligned with the Western democracies”). So they were a constant headache for the Free World (remember that term?).

They’ve softened somewhat since the fall of the Soviet Union, but they’re still pretty left-wing.

Great speech. Mr. MAGA knows how to work the crowd. I feel bad for anyone who hasn’t gone to a Trump rally.

The best democrats get, is a finger waving lecture about Russia Russia Russia, promises for Free stuff, or how great Denmark is.

With President Trump you get pure Americana. History, comedy, energy, unity, and you leave feeling positive, not negative, dark, and mean.

Thanks to Mr. Modi and the Indian people for this jaw-dropping reception.

  23. In Kerala (Southern Coastal India) there are many St Thomas Churches. These Christians say that Thomas (of the apostles) came to them in the year 52 AD and brought the good news to them. There are many Christians in this part of India, with large churches and wonderful choirs. Here is a link to an Indian Quartet singing about the Lord in Tamil. The Quartet is called The Living Stones. They sing some in English and also Malayalam, their language. Very beautiful harmony.
