Another Carefully Timed National Security Council Leak? – John Bolton Book Manuscript Leaked to New York Times…

The timing, purpose and narrative engineering here are transparent in the extreme.

Tonight the New York Times (Schmidt and Haberman) write an article claiming to have exclusively gained portions of a transcript of a John Bolton book manuscript that was given to the White House National Security Council for pre-publication review.

Of course The Times attempts to frame the narrative around the need for John Bolton to testify in the Senate Impeachment Trial… all too transparent in motive. Timed to work around the House fraud; impeachment article construction without Judicial review for subpoenas; and timed to bolster House managers’ unconstitutional demand for Bolton as a Senate witness.  ADD: POTUS Responds:

However, setting aside the nothing-burger details of the book as leaked, the leak itself might now reconcile an earlier event.

Remember the issue a little more than a week ago when the National Security Council senior director for European and Russian affairs, Andrew Peek, was escorted from the White House grounds and is said to be under a security-related investigation?

On Friday January 17th, 2020, the National Security Council senior director for European and Russian affairs, Andrew Peek, was escorted from the White House grounds and is currently under a security investigation.

There are few details about why Peek was physically removed and is under a very serious investigation; however, some of Andrew Peek’s professional background details tell a story.  The connection to Gen. John Allen is a MASSIVE warning flare.

Andrew Peek, the senior director for European and Russian affairs at the National Security Council, has been placed on administrative leave pending a security-related investigation, people familiar with the situation tell Axios.

First the Daily Mail:

[…] Peek had been in the NSC role for just two months, after most recently working as a deputy assistant secretary of state with responsibility for Iran and Iraq.

[…] Peek had been expected to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland next week with Trump and other top aides. However, he is currently on leave pending a security-related investigation, people familiar with the situation told Axios.

[…] Peek served as a U.S. Army intelligence officer who worked under General John Allen in Afghanistan.

[…] Prior to joining the Trump administration, Peek served as a U.S. Army intelligence officer who worked under General John Allen in Afghanistan.

[…] He was also a national security adviser to Senator Gordon Smith, an Oregon Republican, and Senator Mike Johanns, a Nebraska Republican.  (link)

From a Bloomberg article:

[…] Peek previously served as a deputy assistant secretary of State for Iraq and Iran, and he was seen as an ally of Robert O’Brien.

As we shared at the time:…

[…] Andrew Peek came from the State Department.  Because the appointment happened in the past two months, it would appear Andrew Peek was recommended by the Dept. of State and accepted for the NSC post by National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien.

Here’s how it looks:  Andrew Peek was a mole.  A resistance spy sent into the Trump administration as part of the allied deep state resistance effort.  Someone caught him attempting to access something, and here’s how CTH can tell (keep reading).

Suspicious Cat remains suspicious…

The message from Bolton’s publisher:

The House motive here, the forethought within the design, is very important now because it explains why they are vociferously demanding witnesses in the Senate.  The House plan was always to work around the ability of the executive branch to go to court. The managers are now attempting to execute that plan, along with a manufactured political talking point, in the Senate trial.

The House crew intended for this to unfold exactly as it is happening.

At this point, after three years (leak trap or not and assuming Bolton is not the leaker) it should be obvious that a policy of guilt by association is prudent.

I suspect that the WH could if they put the effort into it, PROVE this (as well as the other incidents) is a coordinated effort by the “resistance” with the common denominator being an association with obama and his admin.

PT would be wise to establish an in house, close hold, off site CI element specifically to ferret out and prosecute “resistance” members working against the WH and the country in general.

Does anyone think this will end when PT leaves the WH. The templates and SOP have been established. Suppose, and for the good of the country, the pattern is broken and an R is elected after PT’s second term. Will the “resistance” (obama) just wander off and find something else to do?

Obama has brought this out into the open. “Resistance” is cool, just like he was, right. This anti-American activity must be crushed. We are not required to tolerate ANYBODY who intends to replace our governing system with socialism, marxism, communism or any other ism.

The fact is Bolton offered his resignation to Trump on a Friday night. Trump did not accept it… yet fired him the next day …on twitter. Anybody surprised that Bolton might have an ax to grind needs to get their head out of the sand.

As I said months ago Potus and his team blew this when they accepted the straw man argument that quid pro quo was bad… rather than stating the aid was contingent on Ukraine cleaning up their corruption which included 2016 election meddling as well as Burisma buying off politicians.
It was obvious that the resistance would eventually bring someone forward to corroborate a quid pro quo. Now they have.

Did PT do it or didnt he?

“No quid pro quo” should have been “Hell yes there was a quid pro quo!”

THIS is the angle we should have taken…..

“Are you suggesting we should give out hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer’s money to notoriously corrupt countries without demanding they stop the corruption? Why would you suggest that? Maybe YOU are BENEFITTING from this ‘foreign aid’ going to all these far away countries?”

          Narrative squashed and FLIPPED.

Mulvaney started down this road in the very beginning and was then mistakenly forced to walk it back.

IF the defense tries to defend this way now, it makes PT look GUILTY of something that has now been labeled and accepted as a ‘crime’.

Army Lt. Col. Yevgeny Vindman, a senior ethics lawyer for the National Security Council (NSC), is in charge of reviewing all publications by current and former NSC officials.

The New York Times reported Sunday evening that Bolton’s draft book manuscript, which had been submitted to the NSC for prepublication review on Dec. 30, alleged that President Trump told Bolton in August 2019 that he wanted to withhold security assistance to Ukraine until it agreed to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, among others.

Bolton’s lawyer, Chuck Cooper, issued a statement in which he said: “It is clear, regrettably, from The New York Times article published today that the prepublication review process has been corrupted.” Yevegeny Vindman is the identical twin brother of Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who is one of Democrats’ key witnesses in the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

The above is from Breitbart News and clearly identifies
this other creepy Vindman twin as the leaker.

Bolton should sue the guy for early-revealing portions of his manuscript. And he should immediately release a statement clarifying that it was his understanding that the president intended to leverage the foreign aid in reference to the corruption investigation underway in Ukraine; a common practice of previous administrations.

The nefarious thing about leaking notes and conversations is that they are just that notes and conversations but not actual decisions nor actions.

Bolton book covers discussion and conversations of OPTIONS and ALTERNATIVES, which do not always equal actual execution or decisions. That is the crappy part as leaks of these type of discussions are so easy to spin and use as evidence of “intent”. Yep, there is that word (intent) again. The word that DoJ (under Holder and Comey) transformed from being a legal crime mitigating term to being an actual crime for thinking about or discussing an “illegal” act. AG Barr and succeeding IG reports have sustained the designation to this day. The Congressional Democrats are taking full advantage of the fact DoJ has yest to correct the record by apprpriating the new legal definition of intent.

  30. hokkoda says:

This “pre thought strategy” is highly unlikely to work. The Senate is holding a trial that about 0.2% of the country is paying attention to. Nobody believes Trump will be convicted. The witness debate is clogged up on the issue of reciprocity…if the Democrats get to call Bolton, then Trump gets to call Biden or Atkinson or Ciaramella (or all three)…each of which is bad, bad news for Democrats.

The Senate is highly motivated on several levels to get this trial over with quickly. They don’t need a deep dive into Government Party shenanigans in Ukraine that are probably not limited to Joe Biden’s crooked deals on behalf of his son. Also, this “leak” is so transparently obvious that it’s almost a parody. I had friends predicting mid-week last week that there would be a “bombshell” right at the start of Trump’s defense…right on queue we get this non-story about Bolton to try and shake things up.

It won’t work because absolutely nobody is going to be surprised by this. In fact, the GOP’s best argument would be “If Bolton was really that important to you, then why did you rush impeachment instead of taking Trump to court to get Bolton’s testimony? You don’t get to go fishing for evidence during the trial. You go to trial with your so-called “iron clad case”.”

The Bolton thing is absurdly easy to swat down, particularly after the GOP Senators have been accused of being co-conspirators facing violent retribution from Trump if they don’t give the Democrats what they want.

The impeachment is viewed by the public as a complete waste of time. I think it’s only purpose at this point is to try and keep MSNBC and CNN on the air for 9 more months because both are pushing insolvency in terms of ratings.

The media will huff and puff, but the basic voting dynamic will not change because the Bolton stuff presumes the GOP Senators think Trump did something wrong. He didn’t. Even if you accept the Democrats’ premise about Trump making aid contingent on an investigation of Biden, that’s perfectly ok for the President to do since his J.O.B. is to enforce the law. There is no Constitutional “carve out” for Democratic Candidates running for President. It sure as hell didn’t stop Obama from launching an illegal spying campaign against Trump using agents of foreign powers.

I think this “leak” is going to piss off and further unite the GOP caucus against the kangaroo court. I bet they acquit by Friday now.

It does serve the purpose of interrupting the defense. They now have to change their strategy, and their tactics. They had a road may to put out there and now they have to veer off on this path. Otherwise all day today, the Senators will be hearing something different than the defense is saying. It’s in their heads.

And we are really only talking about the four numbnuts that are on the fence. If they can’t see this entire sham for what it is and are that foolish, they would be the only ones in Congress out of 535 people that are that stupid.

I’m not seeing them bite on this transparently obvious trap. If something changes in the news today, ok, but this Bolton thing is already baked into the cake. The House proceeded without Bolton’s testimony, claiming their case is “ironclad” and “indisputable”. Pretty much all the senators are on record saying it’s not their job to do the House’s job. The House is making an argument so bizarre it’s laughable by saying the Senate trial isn’t fair unless they do the opposite of what the House did. In effect, saying their illegitimate impeachment is cause for the Senate to do it right. That’s bananas, and you never have to vote on Bolton to accept that the House argument is bananas, so don’t even bother.

If it was NOT, he has to now be very concerned that even the investigation into this corruption beginnings may be all BS too.

So isn’t it time to go full bore?

Call all the witnesses and declassify everything even if it means subpoenaing AG Barr in the event their is push back on declassification and even if it means 6 more months to present it all.

If this was a sting operation IMO it will come out later today by PT defense attorneys but IMO if it is not diffused by EOD or by tomorrow then PT is solo and IMO must go nuclear with declass and witnesses BEFORE it is too late and he is removed and EVERYTHING is successfully buried.

The RINOS will now turn on PT if this manuscript BS isn’t debunked quickly.

I’m not sure where this notion that Roberts “breaks ties” on Senate Rules in an impeachment trial comes from. It may have been prior practice, but it certainly is not a constitutional requirement.

Pence can and should cast the deciding vote on any ties. (He has no “conflict of interest” because no tie can occur on REMOVAL — requiring a 2/3 vote.)

If the Senate Rules say “CJ breaks ties,” the 50 supporting outright dismissal wiithout witnesses should simply amend the Rule, with Pence casting the deciding vote.

WH Press Secretary Grisham: Timing Of Bolton Book ‘Very, Very Suspect’
Avatar by Eric A. Blair January 27, 2020

A tell-all book by a guy President Trump fired from his post doesn’t come out until March 17, but the New York Times posted a lengthy story about it just as the president’s lawyers have opened their defense in the Senate’s impeachment trial.

That doesn’t add up, White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said Monday.

“Our team just went on Saturday and in two hours undid all of the hours and hours, in 24 hours, that the Dems did in the Senate trial,” Grisham told Fox News’ “Fox and Friends.” “It’s very clear the president did nothing wrong. Suddenly, this manuscript has magically appeared in the hands of The New York Times.”

She said that timing is “very, very suspect.”

The Times reported on Sunday that former national security adviser John Bolton will say in his new book that Trump’s hold on $391 million in U.S. aid to Ukraine was directly linked to the country’s leaders agreeing to conduct an investigation into Joe Biden and other Democrats. Grisham noted that Amazon posted a link for the book, titled “The Room Where it Happened,” and is taking presales orders. The book, by the way, is being published by Simon and Schuster, “the same publisher that [disgraced former FBI Director James] Comey used,” Grisham said.

Grisham said Bolton sent the manuscript of the book to the White House on Dec. 30, adding it is “something we have kept walled off for obvious reasons” as it “could be a conflict with the trial going on.”

She also said there is “nothing that I have seen and nothing that I know about in terms of what they would remove for national security.”

“I don’t know if they have done anything, if they have made any edits yet for the national security and if there is any classified information out there,’ said Grisham. “But, if there is, it’s a very, very dangerous precedent to set once again.”

Grisham also shot down claims made by Rep. Adam Schiff that Trump had threatened him on Twitter when he said the California Democrat has “not paid the price yet” for his actions on impeaching Trump.

Deep state shill, Chrissy Wallace, is hyperventilating about the need for Bolton’s testimony.

Enjoy the fact that there is NOTHING the DIMs can do or say in the Senate shampeachment trial for at least 21 hours over today and the next 2 days.

And only if one of them asks a question about it, they can’t even bring it up during the 2 days (16 hours) of the Q & A.

They don’t get the floor again until closing arguments, for no more than 2 hours. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Is there no one in Trumps inner circle that will tell him to GET RID OF all the Obama holdovers and anybody else that can’t be trusted???

    Help, please ?

Am I supposed to believe the NYT’s anonymous story that Bolton says military aid was tied to DNC/Biden investigation?

I’m really inclined to think the NYT story is another fake news item. Bolton’s publisher is saying someone in NSA provided information to NYT. Why are we assuming that a leaker from NSA is being accurate or truthful with NYT?

This reminds me so much of the “unnamed whistleblower’s” complaint – where the complaint was full of information that was factually at odds with reality.

I also recall Trump Administration saying Bolton was not involved in Ukraine-Russia policy. I thought Bolton was more Middle East strategy, etc. And are we sure Bolton would really be this disloyal ? I understand he’s a wild-card but I don’t see him doing this ?

I’m really confused – I’d be grateful if someone could shed some more light on the authenticity of this story. Conservative media is circling the wagons – and I’m not convinced they should be. Thanks!

  44. On the Dan Bongino show, he reported that the person who reviews the manuscripts in the NSC is none other than Vindmans brother.

Looks like a Trump team set up to me. No direct quote, Bolton not commenting, Trump denying, nobody to corroborate, Bolton is someone the democrats want as a witness, and an eager media to run with an unverified story. I am wondering if Peek was set up with misinformation.

The overriding issue is that even if it were true it certainly isn’t illegal and it is easily disputed by the actions that occurred despite an alleged conversations. The exact opposite actually happened.

…and just like clockwork, Collins and Romney bite. Yeah, who the hell didn’t see something like this coming. But, my confidence remains with the man who is always a few moves ahead on the chessboard. He plays these cretins like a finely-tuned instrument.

If I recall the NSC only had a couple dozen people in it under Reagan and Obama added a couple hundred.

The dim bulbs at Fox News are now commenting that the Trump Defense Team is ignoring the Bolton “bombshell”.

Neither of the Vindmans or anyone else part of the democrat plot will be fired, ever! That is part of the plot! They purposely choose people that if fired would look like retribution for cooperating.
My guess is Boltons commentary is just like Sondmans, presumptions, assumptions, no direct conversations of the president saying anything of the sort.
What really pees me off are these so righteous democrats and all their sobbing about Ukraine aid delay when they actually voted against it. So Sad.

According to a post labeled SCOOP by Maggtie the trollop the takeaway is that the POTUS told Bolton he wanted to tie them together (aid and investigations) In reality that did not happen so this big scoop, the President told Bolton he wanted this is what type of crime. Give it up demsheviks maggots.
