Senator James Lankford and Senator Mike Braun Discuss Opening of Impeachment Defense…

Republican Senators James Lankford and Mike Braun appeared on Fox News with Judge Jeanine Pirro to discuss their impressions of the Senate impeachment trial, and the opening day of President Trump’s defense.

Senator Braun (Indiana) noted he previously kept close tabs on the details in the House and felt the impeachment managers offered nothing new.  Both Lankford and Braun felt the two-hour defense opening session was strong enough to deconstruct three days of fabricated and manipulated evidence from the House.

.

After three solid years of ridiculous accusations, false claims and lies about President Trump… yeah, it’s good to see the White House fight back.

Problem is, there are three, possibly four former presidents alive today, who willingly took part in a Deep State coup. Our present, sorry state of the union was at least a century in the making.

DC corruption is so thorough, widespread and deep that two days can’t possibly begin to scratch the surface. I pray that our President will complete a second term.

These monsters are playing for keeps. They’re not going anywhere, unless voters find a will and a way to pry them out, one-by-one, by their greasy little back-stabbing fingers.

        Judith, you are absolutely correct.
Think back to when Obama was selling “Obamacare” 24/7 for days and he was like a doll on steroids. He would not shut up and did not intend to sleep until he won that vote. Well, it still counted even in the middle of the night without a single R vote. They never quit once the agenda has been set and this has been going on for four years….The future is ours and the Socialists/Communists who think they can “do communism right” intend to keep riding their dead horse. One day, that horse will magically come back to life. Communists can do that, don’cha know???

I’m going to back to President Eisenhower, when the deep state was alive but nearly as lethal as it is today.
Today, the swamp believes it can change an election.
This will take longer than President Trump’s 8 year term.
His predecessor, will have to be close to having the Presidents tenacity,

Disturbing that Cruz seems to be hinting that 4 senators will vote for witnesses. It could be posturing by Collins murkowdki Alexander and Romney on a sham vote that will be killed when they can’t agree on witness or if POTUS invokes privilege. So a vote with some weasel clauses that will not come to pass. It’s suicide for Collins or murkowdki to alienate the base. They may be posturing. McConnell looks bad if he loses and he risks Trump exposing his own deals. But Cruz comments seem to be a trial balloon that the uniparty intends to try to dirty POTUS up. Tangled web

When they can hijack Soros computerized voting terminals like they do the new computerized vehicles, it definitely adds another layer to the idea of electability.

I noted a change in these political animals beginning in the 80’s, when a purge of the last remaining news journalists was completed. From then on it was propaganda central, and politicians who did not tow the line predictably faced sex or tax scandals, scorn and swift removal.

Over the past decade, the voting landscape is noticeably altered as well. Lawfare has taken root and local politicians have dropped even the pretense of representing their own constituents. Suddenly we have new voting terminals. Coincidence?

Not to mention the extreme measures to “ensure that all eligible voters have an opportunity to cast a ballot”. Last time I checked, your right ceased when your death certificate was signed but that hasn’t stopped Democrats from registering and voting them. How about the poll official from Chicago who bragged about voting for Obama seven different times? If voting were to return to a single day (preserving absentee ballots, which are easier to track since they must be signed), it would at least be more difficult for cheating to occur via the physical route. At my site, we seem to have machine issues every election cycle. I have been told to just leave my ballot and the workers would run it through when it was fixed (and I’m talking about being one of the first five voters—obviously they don’t check the machines beforehand). Sorry, but I want to see my ballot go in and the counter change!!
Personally I have no problem putting a fingerprint on my ballot if that will prevent illegal voting. Something has to be done, including fingerprinting illegals when they are determined to be illegal but in the country!

My brother is in a legal mess with a small town Sheriff Department and his case keep lingering on for more than four years now. He won’t take a plea deal and the public defender won’t take it to court because the Sheriff would be exposed. It’s a stand off that has cost my brother plenty. The low educated in that country are still wondering what the heck is going on. Sad, but our country is rotten to the core with corruption. Mexico has nothing on us.

It’s been said that “you can’t fight city hall”. He did – and he eventually won that battle. His take on it was that you CAN fight city hall, but it requires persistence and determination. Not necessarily requiring spending money on lawyers, because you know how to defend yourself better than they might.

Tell your brother not to take a plea and never to cave if he is innocent. If he educates himself about the law he will prevail. Patience and persistence pay dividends.

My history professor, retired Army, ex POW Korean War, Ph.D., noted Hitler and the Nazis about 8-9 million deaths (6 million Jews in prison camps), Stalin, more like 40-50 million. Both the Nazis and Soviets kept better records. Mao over the decades insuring his cultural revolution, 60-70 million killed. They kept very poor records and the rule of the communists, ensured that no reasonable records and estimates of the killings could be kept. Regardless, this evil all took place in the last century and of course Pol Pot was in the little leagues.

Look at the Kavanaugh hearing and how that was hijacked by Lawfare. That only gave them even more courage to try it again. Once the impeachment is over and lost to them, the information is out there, now, and it won’t be covered up.

Another reason (besides having the facts on our side) were the visuals. A short opening,
given by professional ADULTS in a calm, nonmelodramatic manner; compared to treating impeachment as a high school drama. For example, the rolling out of four carts of paper for the media. Really? I would like to look at those carts of paper. Everything was probably printed using two inch side margins, 2.5 inch top/bottom margins, double spaced, with a 14 point font. Because, like, you know, volume really, really shows you did your homework.

It was very professional, our guys’ presentations Saturday, and I thought initially kinda boring, but then, the President’s men hit the perfect tone for their pompous 100-member audience; they know exactly the right notes to present their facts in. And in that sense, it wasn’t boring at all, but a revelation. Prediction: All the Repubs will vote to acquit, and about four Dems. No witnesses. As with the full House vote, the only “bipartisan” aspect to it will be the handful of Dems voting to acquit.

I say that not because Cruz and Aunt Lindsay and Our Lord only knows who else wouldn’t love to cause some trouble, but there comes a time when the facts are just overwhelming, especially when they’re presented coolly, logically, and absolutely professionally.

I think this has been addressed but I’m not sure. Since the lawyers brought up the fact that no subpoenas were valid since the impeachment was never started legitimately…because it wasn’t voted on my the entire House first, can it be nullified or whatever legal term you can come up with??

I sure would like to have some legal constitutional remedy to nullify a scam like this now… and in the future. But, in the meantime… I hope they spend time on the changing of the rules (who did that) and why, if they were so convinced of their case.

Probably not. The whole house did finally vote on the articles of impeachment. Sundance has the Lawfare scenario pegged. Start with the inquiry (and just call it an impeachment investigation – because you don’t have the votes) and let the MSM drag it over the line, and then when you have the ‘polling’ numbers – make your members take the vote. IMHO, the subpoena issue in the DC courts is going to wait until after the Senate impeachment vote – rendering the case moot and dismissed on motion by the WH.

can it be nullified or whatever legal term you can come up with??

      Short term…..yes.
An acquittal in the Senate nullifies all of this.

Long term…I see no other way that this whole process can be nullified other than a constitutional test of the PROCESS itself before SCOTUS.
Congress can’t pass a law defining impeachment process even if they wanted to.
There’s no point in the House making rules defining impeachment process.
      Constitutional Amendment is a non-starter.

SCOTUS cannot tell House how to DO an impeachment but they sure could rule on ways NOT TO.
How it gets to SCOTUS for the test is the trick.
My guess is HJC will pull it’s cases on Mueller 6e/McGahn (Like they did Kuppermann) upon Senate acquittal to not risk putting this impeachment method before SCOTUS.
Those cases were opened upon Pelosi’s unilateral press conference announcement, then supplemented by HR 660 to a favorable district judge.
On the appellate side the vote tally on HR 660, compared historically to other House impeachments does not buttress their case. Nor would the ultimate failure of their impeachment before the Senate.
And that vote could make it worse if Dems flip there too like Ratcliffe predicts.

      Longer term:
McCarthy and others have noted with this method
“We are entering into an Age of Impeachment”
It could be decades before D’s & R’s call a “truce”
(like they did with the “Independent Counsel Law”)
after a string of “impeached” Presidents or simply perpetual “impeachment inquiries”

They try to say that Biden didn’t “quod pro quo” Ukraine, and the video is right there to prove it. Yet they say that’s all been debunked. The media lies to our faces. And expects people to believe it. Of course, democrats drink up all of that kool aid they can hold.

Yeah, my freshman Senator did not acquit himself well today. He seems freaked out over the photo of him & Rudy & Lev. Basically threw Rudy under the bus.

More alarmingly to me, he said “we” (GOP) are foot dragging on climate.

Also caught part of Lankford on with little Georgie. He didn’t do well, either with the beat your wife question about soliciting foreign interference.

WHY is the GOP so terrible at messaging?

WHAT is so hard about saying there is more than enough evidence to investigate (possible) DNC solicitation of aid from Ukrainian govt officials in 2016, as well as potential wrong doing by the Bidens in several countries while he was VP???

Schiff also told Georgie that Team Trump is pushing the Putin talking point that the Ukraine hacked the DNC

Need one ask why Republicans cower in front of the press? Braun should be confident and strong given the general quality of conservatism in Indiana, but NO….he tries to play the “I’m fair and see things that need improvement” cards. Why? Either he is weak (yes) or like so many wants acceptance from everyone…especially the press. Sick of such wussies in our camp.

All we need is a 51 to 49 vote. So flipping a single RINO of the 4 gives us what we need and allows the other three to vote for witnesses and remain protected, at least from the left, maybe not so much from the right, in their senate races. It’s time for Mitch and the rest to make the four draw straws to see who has to vote against witnesses. If that won’t fly then it needs to be seriously explained to Mittens, coming from a securely red state, that he can safely vote against witnesses and still win re-election whereas voting for witnesses will get him tossed on his ear.

I don’t understand this new witness thing. Shouldn’t they just call the original witnesses for cross examination and then Trump should call his own witnesses to provide for his defense?

The House didn’t vote to authorize subpoena authority for any committee, so the evidence gathered was thin–at least since no one complied with the voluntary requests to testify.

The House did vote for the articles of impeachment. The bundle sent to the Senate is valid as far as being a real impeachment product that the Senate will have to disposition.

However, lacking in substance and content, it is not the Senate’s duty to go fill the bag with manure so as to weigh it. If Cruz and party wish to call witnesses, that’s because they are opponents of Trump. Trump doesn’t need witnesses. This case is a slam dunk without them.

Republicans are unique in that they are largely spineless. How jellyfish manage the steps up the Capitol building is beyond me, but they fell as though they are always on the defensive–and they are, because they are practically never on the offensive. Imagine a senator saying this stuff is the end product of illegal conspiracy, felony leaking, denial of rights under color of authority from the former president on down through the current DOJ/FBI with CI agencies thrown in? That’s the fact pattern before us, but Republican senators will say instead, “Well, it looks like the case has been undercut by the President’s team.” No duh. The case was invalid when presented. The president’s team need not have even spoken, but alas, we have Republican senators in the building.

This is a PR presentation in every dimension. Just remember, the latest generations are born and raised on PR (entertainment industry). Modern PR is rooted in the suspension of disbelief. People are capable of it–often too capable.

I think this is what Lindsey G was saying this morning on Maria’s show. Why should we as Senators have to put ourselves out there to jeopardize our futures by calling witnesses, when the House was suppose to do it. The articles should be argued as sent over from the House. Period.

Those calling for witnesses are swayed by.. “we can get Biden, and the WB, or maybe even Schiff”. Never gonna happen. They would all plead the 5th, and it would tie up the courts for months (which plays into the Dems hands)

The President is already proven Not Guilty, why keep looking for more reasons to prove it?

  24. This thing ends after the President’s turn–and it is the President’s lawyers who request witnesses, not the Senate

Senators would rather stab their own eardrums out with an Embossed Commemorative Nancy Pelosi Impeachment Pen than do this for another month. There is no way they can get Bolton without Biden–who could be compelled to testify with transactional immunity or plead the Fifth. The Uni-Party WILL NEVER ALLOW BIDEN TO TESTIFY OR PLEAD THE FIFTH.

    Your ‘Peach Party’s over, bitches.

At least until the President calls Nepal.

    Or Tanzania.

    Or Uruguay.

So what if he’s got a recording of PDJT ordering the firing of Yanovavich.

PDJT said he doesn’t know Parnas, he didn’t say that he never met him.

President Trump had the right to fire Yovanovich and did not have to disclose a reason. Ambassadors serve at the pleasure of the president… She was Obama’s ambassador. Many presidents have fired the whole lot when they took office and replaced them with their own appointees. (I believe I read that Obama had done so.) This whole ambassador-firing bit sounds like Amateur Night. Grabbing at straws.

If we must have witnesses in this fake impeachment then lets make it worth are while. Just read about two of the top Socialists Democrats running for President, Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren in Peter Schweizer’s book PROFILES IN CORRUPTION below. These people are not fit to be President. If you want to know more then read Peter’s book.

“Joe Biden emerges as the king of the sweetheart deal, with no less than five family members benefiting from his largesse, favorable access, and powerful position for commercial gain. In Biden’s case, these deals include foreign partners and in some cases even U.S. taxpayer dollars. Another method is income generation, whereby political power translates into a direct revenue stream for political figures or their family members. Elizabeth Warren benefited enormously from the government power she wielded early in her government career to the tune of millions of dollars. And her daughter benefits financially from her proximity to her mother as a powerful U.S. senator.”

On Monday, the Socialist Democrats are due for another trip down memory lane. What a way to start your week. To conduct this tour we plan to use the team shown, just below. Following our teams presentation we will have a special treat from the House Managers led by Comrade Schiff. We encourage you to bring your popcorn for the presentation. And, for the crying spree expected by the House Managers.

When one of the two major political parties in the USA now routinely practices institutionalized lying day in day out, then this country is doomed because sooner or later, the pathological liars who no longer worry about even deniability will get in charge and then we will be totally f#@%&d.

Otherwise it has been a pretty good run until BHO “transformed the United States of America”

  29. No witnesses should be added. The House failed to call all these witnesses under legal means, before submitting the impeachment articles to the Senate. The hue and cry for fairness from Schiff for brains and his ilk is ironic, since they did not do the same in the House.

As for the Bidens, et al., those issues should be pursued in separate proceedings and quickly!
