History – President Trump Delivers Remarks During March for Life 2020 – 12:15pm ET Livestream…

At approximately 12:15pm Eastern time this afternoon President Trump is scheduled to make history as the first sitting U.S. President to attend and give a speech at the annual March for Life event on the mall in Washington, DC.

UPDATE: Video and Transcript Added

[Transcript] – THE PRESIDENT: Well, thank you very much and thank you, Jeanne. It is my profound honor to be the first President in history to attend the March for Life. (Applause.) We’re here for a very simple reason: to defend the right of every child, born and unborn, to fulfill their God-given potential. (Applause.)

For 47 years, Americans of all backgrounds have traveled from across the country to stand for life. And today, as President of the United States, I am truly proud to stand with you. (Applause.)

I want to welcome tens of thousands — this is a tremendous turnout — tens of thousands of high school and college students who took long bus rides — (applause) — to be here in our nation’s capital. And to make you feel even better, there are tens of thousands of people outside that we passed on the way in. If anyone would like to give up their spot, we can work that out. (Laughter.) You have a tremendous group of people outside. Thousands and thousands wanted to get in. This is some great success. (Applause.) Young people are the heart of the March for Life, and it’s your generation that is making America the pro-family, pro-life nation. (Applause.)

The life movement is led by strong women, amazing faith leaders, and brave students who carry on the legacy of pioneers before us who fought to raise the conscience of our nation and uphold the rights of our citizens. You embrace mothers with care and compassion. You are powered by prayer, and motivated by pure, unselfish love.

You’re grateful — and we are so grateful — these are incredible people — to be joined by Secretary Alex Azar and Kellyanne Conway. (Applause.) Thank you.

And thanks also to Senators Mike Lee and James Lankford, who are here. James, Mike — thank you, fellas. And Representatives Steve Scalise — (applause); Chris Smith — (applause); Ralph Abraham — (applause); Warren Davidson — (applause); Bob Latta — (applause); John Joyce — (applause); Lloyd Smucker — (applause); Brian Fitzpatrick — (applause); and Brad Wenstrup. (Applause.) Thank you, all. (Applause.)

And I have to say — and I look at it — I see it exactly — we have many, many more politicians in the audience. But, if you don’t mind, I won’t introduce them all. (Laughter.)

All of us here today understand an eternal truth: Every child is a precious and sacred gift from God. (Applause.) Together, we must protect, cherish, and defend the dignity and sanctity of every human life. (Applause.)

When we see the image of a baby in the womb, we glimpse the majesty of God’s creation. (Applause.) When we hold a newborn in our arms, we know the endless love that each child brings to a family. When we watch a child grow, we see the splendor that radiates from each human soul. One life changes the world. From my family — and I can tell you, I send love and I send great, great love.

And from the first day in office, I’ve taken a historic action to support America’s families and to protect the unborn. (Applause.) And during my first week in office, I reinstated and expanded the Mexico City Policy, and we issued a landmark pro-life rule to govern the use of Title X taxpayer funding. (Applause.)

I notified Congress that I would veto any legislation that weakens pro-life policies or that encourages the destruction of human life. (Applause.)

At the United Nations, I made clear that global bureaucrats have no business attacking the sovereignty of nations that protect innocent life. (Applause.)

Unborn children have never had a stronger defender in the White House. (Applause.) And as the Bible tells us, each person is “wonderfully made.” (Applause.)

We have taken decisive action to protect the religious liberty –- so important. Religious liberty has been under attack all over the world, and, frankly, very strongly attacked in our nation. You see it better than anyone. But we are stopping it, and we’re taking care of doctors, nurses, teachers, and groups like the Little Sisters of the Poor. (Applause.) We are preserving faith-based adoption. (Applause.)

And to uphold our founding documents, we have confirmed 187 federal judges — (applause) — who apply the Constitution as written, including two phenomenal Supreme Court Justices: Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. (Applause.)

We are protecting pro-life students’ right to free speech on college campuses. (Applause.) And if universities want federal taxpayer dollars, then they must uphold your First Amendment right to speak your mind. And if they don’t, they pay a very big financial penalty, which they will not be willing to pay. (Applause.)

Sadly, the far-left is actively working to erase our God-given rights, shut down faith-based charities, ban religious believers from the public square, and silence Americans who believe in the sanctity of life. They are coming after me because I am fighting for you and we are fighting for those who have no voice. And we will win because we know how to win. (Applause.) We all know how to win. We all know how to win. You’ve been winning for a long time. You’ve been winning for a long time. (Applause.)

AUDIENCE: Four more years! Four more years! Four more years!

THE PRESIDENT: Together, we are the voice for the voiceless. When it comes to abortion, Democrats is a — and you know this, you’ve seen what’s happened — Democrats have embraced the most radical and extreme positions taken and seen in this country for years, and decades — and you can even say “for centuries.”

THE PRESIDENT: Nearly every top Democrat in Congress now supports taxpayer-funded abortion, all the way up until the moment of birth.

THE PRESIDENT: Last year, lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb right up until delivery.

THE PRESIDENT: Then, we had the case of the Democrat governor in the state of Virginia — the Commonwealth of Virginia.

THE PRESIDENT: And we love the Commonwealth of Virginia, but what is going on in Virginia? What is going on? The Governor stated that he would execute a baby after birth. You remember that.

Senate Democrats even blocked legislation that would give medical care to babies who survive attempted abortions. That’s why I’ve called on Congress — two of our great senators here, so many of our congressmen here — and called upon them to defend the dignity of life and to pass legislation prohibiting late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in their mother’s womb. (Applause.)

This year, the March for Life is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which forever enshrined women’s rights to vote in the United States — (applause) — and given by the United States Constitution. Such a big event. (Applause.)

Today, millions of extraordinary women across America are using the power of their votes to fight for the right, and all of their rights, as given in the Declaration of Independence –- it’s the right to life. To all the women here today: Your devotion and your leadership uplifts our entire nation, and we thank you for that.

The tens of thousands of Americans gathered today not only stand for life — it’s really that they stand for it so proudly together, and I want to thank everybody for that.

You stand for life each and every day. You provide housing, education, jobs, and medical care to the women that you serve. You find loving families for children in need of a forever home. You host baby showers for expecting moms. You make –- you just make it your life’s mission to help spread God’s grace.

And to all of the moms here today: We celebrate you, and we declare that mothers are heroes. (Applause.) That’s true. Your strength, devotion, and drive is what powers our nation. And, because of you, our country has been blessed with amazing souls who have changed the course of human history.

We cannot know what our citizens yet unborn will achieve, the dreams they will imagine, the masterpieces they will create, the discoveries they will make. But we know this: Every life brings love into this world. Every child brings joy to a family. Every person is worth protecting. (Applause.) And above all, we know that every human soul is divine, and every human life –- born and unborn –- is made in the holy image of Almighty God. (Applause.)

Together, we will defend this truth all across our magnificent land. We will set free the dreams of our people. And with determined hope, we look forward to all of the blessings that will come from the beauty, talent, purpose, nobility, and grace of every American child.

I want to thank you. This is a very special moment. It’s so great to represent you. I love you all and –- (applause) — and I say with true passion: Thank you. God bless you. And God bless America. Thank you all. Thank you. (Applause.)

      So true.

The amazing thing about this towering force called President Trump is that there is no problem in this world that is too big to tackle nor any problem that is too small to bother with. The only consideration is how the large and small impact on American citizens and then he goes and fixes it.

This week we have seen how he took Davos by storm (very large!). Yet a few weeks ago someone approached him regarding the firework display at Mount Rushmore that had been a July 4th event for many , many years but had been stopped because of environmental concerns. Could he fix that? A phone call later and the fix was in. The display is on this year and the President said, “I’ll be there if I can.” ( A small problem, but…)

Who else could tip the world on its ear and save a traditional firework display just because he loves the people he represents and is one of them?

Donald J. Trump has turned out to be the most supportive pro-life President ever in the history of our nation!

Randy Thomasson of SaveCalifornia.com recently sent me the following email on this important topic. Here is a copy of it:

Can you imagine what life will be like if Roe v. Wade is overturned?

            Hi Christine,

At my two appointments this morning at secular businesses, I was asked the obligatory question, “How are you?” And I answered, “Thankful to Jesus, and a little sad.”

When they asked why I was sad, I held up my phone and showed them that 61 million pre-born babies have been killed in 47 years of Roe v. Wade. Then we had a little talk about it, because this shocking fact made them sad too.

These sobering statistics make me hunger for the day when Roe v. Wade is overturned. What about you? And what will life be like in America if and when this unconstitutional 1973 ruling, which permitted Americans to abort their unwanted children, is overturned?

            Here are 10 likely outcomes:

            1. Innocent babies will be saved. If the current tally is “2,362 abortions daily and 98 abortions per hour every hour in the United States,” I believe a post-Roe nation will decrease the baby killings by at least half, but not totally eliminate them, because of Democrat-run, pro-abortion states.

            2. Creator God will be pleased with America’s repenting of the bloodguilt of legalized murder. The Old Testament explains how a land is cursed when it is full of bloodguilt. So I know God can bless America again when America repents of abortion.

            3. America’s pro-life ethic will be greatly strengthened. If and when a future U.S. Supreme Court strikes down Roe, it will obviously give people more confidence to think and speak that abortion is wrong. Even pro-abortion people will have to say abortion’s against the law, which will help move the pendulum even further toward majority pro-life values.

            4. As respect for innocent human life increases, murders of people outside the womb will decrease. It is simply logical for a culture that believes pre-born humans have the intrinsic right to life to believe the same for people already born. Expect murder of adults to drop when murder of babies drop.

            5. The need to adopt children will skyrocket. When millions of babies are put up for adoption instead of aborted, the Church needs to step up and fulfill the command to care for orphans (James 1:27). Post-Roe, this means the average Christian family will have at least one adopted child — a new new norm to embrace for the sake of love and legacy.

            6. More pastors will speak out for innocent human life and against abortion. When abortion is legally called wrong, previously-afraid pastors will begin to say it’s wrong too. If they don’t, they are more cowardly than you or I thought, since opposing abortion will immediately be easier.

            7. When abortion is outlawed, the economy will improve. Under most conditions, population growth improves a nation’s economy. Numerically, population growth nearly always boosts production, while lower population tends to lessen production.

            8. Planned Parenthood abortionists will lose even more government money. When Roe v. Wade is finally struck down, all federal funding of abortion and abortionists will also be dismantled, legally or legislatively or both. What a moral taxpayer victory this will be!

            9. Many Democrat-controlled states will go rogue. In Democrat trifecta states (where the governor, and both houses of the state legislature, are Democrat-controlled), there will likely be rebellion and increased civil disobedience to try to keep abortion clinics open and to distribute abortion pills. There are 15 Democrat-controlled states where this could happen: California, Oregon, Washington, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, Hawaii, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and Virginia.

            10. A pro-life president and Congress is more likely. Yes, pro-aborts will try to make the next presidential election all about abortion and the power of the president to nominate and the U.S. Senate to confirm federal judges. But the nationwide law would be solidly on the side of pro-life candidates, and pro-abortion Democrats will be more identified as lawbreakers. This will likely create a new pro-life political dynamic that will increase pro-life representation in both houses of Congress, and which could swing “Democrat” states, such as Nevada, New Mexico, and Virginia, back to pro-lifers. And if there’s a strongly pro-life president, he’ll enforce America’s new pro-life law in every state, including those with Democrat trifectas. He’ll also slash school funding unless government-run schools cease to teach children abortion is acceptable, or refer children for surgical or chemical abortions.

Please join me in hungering, praying, and working for an end to abortion in America!

And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.”
            Genesis 4:10-11

Trump speaking at the March for Life is of the “bold colors” variety which Reagan spoke of, even more than Reagan himself. I hope Bush is wondering to himself, “What was I so afraid of to speak there?” His fear and lack of conviction were definitely of the pastel variety.

Forgiveness is a powerful word. Mrs. Monkee & I are affiliated with a Medical ProLife Agency. Our Staff recently consoled (15) year old new parents. Fear, social pressure, back-stabbing friends, hostile family members…were neutralized with empathy and forgiveness. The 3-D ultrasound confirmed life and now the forgiving journey is ahead.

One thing I’ve learned in this 47 year struggle: never, ever judge the outside appearance of a soul. Especially the young, vulnerable and fearful.

I have a close friend who works with post-abortive women who are struggling physically, emotionally, spiritually (she is one herself so understands their emotions). She told me once that most of the women she meets simply cannot get over the fact that they PAID a stranger to KILL their child! They believed at the time that it was the “best choice” but when the enormity of that decision hits them they become paralyzed with grief/anger, either at themselves or at anyone who dares to remind them of their “choice”. But in either case, she said, they must accept what they did before they can start to find healing. I think of that comment whenever I see the militant angry feminists speaking…they simply have channeled all their anger at others because they cannot/will not deal with what they did.

Exactly. I recently got absolutely lambasted by a couple of women on a FB post from Students For Life. Furious, bitter, vitriolic women absolutely chewing me out for daring to support life. One was going on and on about how she “hated the fetus from the moment she first saw the positive pregnancy test” and that she “hope[d] it died in horrible pain.” Seemed like both of them had some unresolved issues.

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (KJV)

But we MUST always remember that forgiveness IS available! Women need to know that! It is a lie from the pit of Hell that they cannot be forgiven – I know too many women my age (mid-50s) who have lived their whole lives believing that they are unworthy to be loved because of a decision that they made when they were young (and in some case woefully unaware of the truth of what they were doing – there were no ultrasounds back then and all the so-called experts said it was “just a clump of cells). Many have turned to drugs/alcohol to mask their pain while many more are just angry and bitter because they will not accept the forgiveness that is available through Jesus’ sacrifice…we need to make sure that we do not pour more condemnation on hurting hearts. Only grace and truth will set them free!!

( I even remember her name)
I pray daily for my horrible horrible deed and hope my child forgives me.

You are a powerful voice and you have a story to tell that someone needs to hear – allow the grace of God to sink into the depths of your soul and use your past to help others. That is what my friend, and many others, have done and their ministry has been powerful and lives have been saved and lives have been changed!

I don’t get it – this shouldn’t be necessary with the birth control pill. Apparently women would rather kill their babies and risk their own health than remember to take a dang pill!

Likely the only reason this hasn’t been fixed is because PP recycles their confiscated tax $ back to the rat politicians. Blood money.

As a Ob-Gyn I can say with authority that 1/100 women who take their BCP daily, without fail will get pregnant every year. I have also personally delivered babies holding IUDs in their little hands! Even 1/250 women who had their “tubes” tied get pregnant. The only sure fire method is abstinence.

I don’t get it either–why not promote birth control and subsidize birth control like we do abortions? Hand out free BC pills, offer sterilization free whatever it takes to prevent unwanted pregnancy EXCEPT abortion. Is it because there is profit in fetal body parts?

        • Psycho Monkee says:

Birth Control remedies cause unwanted pregnancies. The insidious Pill tricks people into having sex on demand. The natural design, a women’s monthly cycle is predictable and most worthy of a man’s respect. Interrupting the cycle with hormones disrupts, distorts, degrades and dilutes a monogamous relationship. When will society learn from our first father Adam, who fell from his protective post allowing Eve to be tricked.

In theory I agree but in today’s society if you don’t want to be a parent you have to choose one or the other – abortion or the pill.

            • liberty, not license says:

Except…the birth control pill also has an abortifacient effect. It doesn’t always prevent pregnancy;it can also cause a very early abortion.

Doubt it? Well, the fact that women have become pregnant and carried to term despite being “on the pill” shows the pill doesn’t always prevent pregnancy! As the composition of the pill has changed to have fewer side effects, the “chance” of pregnancy has increased.

And this doesn’t begin to address the negative consequences on the environment (problem of estrogen in the water supply) and to the woman’s health. The pill has been classified by WHO as a carcinogen. 😦

An IUD is the safest and most secure form of birth control. It is reversible but only needs to be checked or replaced every few years. I’m not sure why these are not installed in any woman who wants one for free.

              • margarite1 says:

well….maybe it’s not perfect but you can usually survive it without ending up thinking you have to kill a human. That was my choice anyway.

Margarita: you are wrong. I dated in my 30s with a Biblical policy on when inter course was ok: after marriage.

I have had many years – beyond 2 decades- with no “Pill” and no unexpected pregnancies.

I have had a few “relationships” but never had an unexpected pregnancy.

I am a human, made in God’s image. Including intelligence, morality, and judgment. I have control over where I insert appendices.

I am not an animal, as in “they will do it anyway, so let’s spay and neuter them.”

The Progs want us to believe we are descended from monkeys so we will expect nothing more out if ourselves than animal behavior.

I’ve posted it before and will again—I believe that Hillary’s confession of her support for women to abort up to the date of delivery tipped any fence-sitters to the favor of Trump in that last 2016 debate—thus, securing his win. THIS IS A CORNERSTONE ISSUE FOR HIS ELECTION LAST TIME AND THIS TIME, IMHO.

“Every person — the born and unborn, the poor, the downcast, the disabled, the infirm, and the elderly — has inherent value.  Although each journey is different, no life is without worth or is inconsequential; the rights of all people must be defended. “

  18. If trees were tall and grasses short,
    As in some crazy tale,
If here and there a sea were blue
    Beyond the breaking pale,

If a fixed fire hung in the air
To warm me one day through,
If deep green hair grew on great hills,
I know what I should do.

In dark I lie; dreaming that there
Are great eyes cold or kind,
And twisted streets and silent doors,
    And living men behind.

Let storm clouds come: better an hour,
And leave to weep and fight,
Than all the ages I have ruled
    The empires of the night.

I think that if they gave me leave
    Within the world to stand,
I would be good through all the day
    I spent in fairyland.

They should not hear a word from me
    Of selfishness or scorn,
If only I could find the door,
If only I were born. –“By the Babe Unborn”, G.K. Chesterton

Speaking as a Catholic: the U.S. Catholic bishops – with very few exceptions – are the most hypocritical and pusillanimous group known in the last c. 50 years.

Hob-nobbing with pro-infanticide “Catholic” politicians, refusing to excommunicate them, staying silent as the death toll rose every year, failing to lead not only massive protests, but failing to lead in general, they therefore failed in the 1970’s to stop this cancer from growing and growing. There should have been protests immediately shutting down the offices of every so-called Catholic politician supporting Abortion/Infanticide, and Catholics should have been informed that voting for any pro-abortion candidate was immoral.

But no! Compromise, compromise, compromise, until they stand for nothing and become complicit in millions of murders by their cowardice to take action.

And we note how c. 50 years of lip-service has done nothing but encourage the Leftist baby-killers.

I will also note how these bishops are not alone in their cowardice…

We must continue to Stand up , even in the face of these false shepherds who continue to give the sacraments to the Pro- Abort politicians . It’s sad . They don’t accept responsibility for their abuse of power in destroying the lives of so many . Born and unborn . The biggest abuse they have committed is denying the Truth of the Faith to so many . So many souls lost because of them withholding the Truth about abortion , about homosexuality , about marriage . The list goes on , finally their horrible bad example of covering for abusers like Theodore McCarrick .

“The first March for Life, which was founded by Nellie Gray, was held on January 22, 1974, on the West Steps of the Capitol, with an estimated 20,000[ supporters in attendance.

The march was originally intended to be a one-time event, in hopes that the United States Supreme Court would reverse Roe v. Wade immediately a year after its ruling.

However, after the first march in 1974, Gray took steps to institute the rally as a yearly event until Roe v. Wade was overturned by incorporating more grassroots pro-life activists into the march, which would be officially recognized as a nonprofit organization the same year.”

The Left is evil, but they are good at marketing… “Progressive”, “Pro Choice”, “Liberal”, etc.

This morning on WMAL, I heard one of the hosts refer to them as “abortion enthusiasts”. He’s right.

We need to start calling a spade a spade.

I am very proud of President Trump, I totally think that if it were not for the actions he has and the way he conducts himself all this other stuff would go for not He says and does things which I find are so out there and in your face I have to laugh because I find it refreshing and in the light of all he does When I heard Adam Shifty shift say yesterday that he is not for the American people I wondered why no one ripped his head off, Our President always considers what Is good for the American people first and foremost over and above all else He does not even take a salary for what he does and when I hear them say that he does all of this to enrich his personal goals I just have to laugh God bless President Trump and his wonderful family and all those who support and love him,

The “we can’t trust” statement? I”m still po’d.

I’m thinking the defense should start with that statement and then list all of his accomplishments in 3 short years, while under constant fire.

And it’s B.S. that our national security was harmed. Our national security is harmed every day that we let unvetted illegal immigrants cross our border and/or stay in our country. There is only one man who ever tried to fix this problem, even after the repercussions of 9/11 which we will pay for forever.

That’s been pretty standard for years, when in a very public place. Obama did it and others before him. Sometimes it’s really obvious, other times it’s barely noticeable because of the lighting.

I was more concerned before he was elected, because that security wasn’t provided.

    • Excellent idea.

From what I can glean from the publicity from the trials of abortion doctors lately most of the medical providers in the baby killing business are filthy, lazy and not very professional.

I am always surprised that they still have their medical licenses.

Who knows where PP finds these creatures willing to kill babies and put their remains in the freezer in their homes.

      Very creepy.

Leftists are having a fit. If you go on places like the Facebook page: Whole Life: Pro-life Democrats, Progressives, and Feminists, you can see the signs that their ilk are carrying at today’s rally.

Down with Trump because he is prostituting the event and they will never get away from this stain. They feel pro-life is that you let anyone in to the USA (Asylum for all!), universal health care, gun control and all the Democratic talking points.

They really think Trump is a product of White Nationalism and is Xenophobic, and that he objectifies woman and hates the disabled and is a tyrant.

There is no starker contrast. At the same time, on the same day and in the same city that Democrats are trying to convince a Senate presided over by the Chief Justice of the SCOTUS just how evil and corrupt the president is, he’s outside speaking to people who just want to convince lawmakers and SCOTUS that human’s still in the womb have a right to exist.

    Thank God for Phyliss Schlafly.

She saw something in Trump in the early, critical days and weeks of his announcement to run. While traditional evangelicals and others were wringing their hands and clutching pearls and rosaries, she was listening to that “still, small voice” and came out strong for an unlikely man appointed by God for this hour.

God bless Donald Trump, my president.

I will add an “Amen,” too, about Phyllis Schafley. Her early support made me really take a good look at Donald Trump as a candidate and support him early on. Pro-life issues are a deal breaker for me, and I knew Phyllis would not sell out the pre-born. But, what abuse we early supporters of President Trump took about this, especially by Cruz supporters. Ted Cruz wouldn’t have held a candle to the good works this President has done. God bless President Trump and may the soul of Phyllis Schafley rest in peace .

but the Evangelicals are going to abandon him in 2020 as the decoms are going after them hard. LOL.

If every single one of these pro-life anti abortions voters to not show up to the polls in mass along with anyone else they can bring to support our Presidents reelection then and GOD forbid he lost then they should live their lives out in shame. Trump is a once in a lifetime enigma, one they have been wafting forever to show up. The dcoms say Trumps personality turns off evangelicals so they may not show up……………I call BS. The choice is clear. If they don’t show up and vote for this man then they might as well support aborting on demand and going Planned Parent Hood because each life taken going forward they have a share in.

      How to kill Planned Parenthood:

Cut off their Medicaid money because it can be proven they are violating the madated reporter law in not protecting underage girls from rape, incest, and statutory rape.

Sundance, there is an investigator out there who has the info about tens of thousands of violations of this law by Planned Parenthood staffers, that would make it relatively easy for President Trump and Secretary Azar to debar Planned Parenthood for cause from getting Medicaid. This is about $500 milllion a year …. eight times what losing Title X cost Planned Parenthood last year.

Contact me at my email and I will give you info on this investigator. If he is the real deal, we could crush Planned Parenthood financially, and the rest of the abortion industry will lack their protective PR cover.

If anyone knows how to sniff out the truth, you will.
